Disclaimer:I don't own any of this! Lord of the Rings and everything it contains was originally the idea of J.R.R. Tolkien. Credits for Narnia and everything associated with it go to C.S. Lewis. The idea for this originally came from the video 'The king, the girl and the lion – Trailer' by Nonokun24 on YouTube. Near the end, I reference the movie 'The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King', but that's about it, I believe.
Author's Note: First of all, I wish everyone a merry Christmas! Yeah, I know, sucks that it takes Christmas to get me to make time for writing… exams should be over in a little over a month, so I hope to have more time after that. To everyone who bothered to read: a big thank you!
Lucy seems in safe hands with her Blood Warrior, Peter and the Admiral, all hell-bent on defending her. But are they really enough? Or could she – and her companions, and the Islanders – do with some more help?
I pray you'll enjoy this chapter!
And, of course, I'd very much appreciate a review! Even if it's just to point out I get something terribly wrong, at least then I may do something about it :)
The Lone Islands
The albatross is flying, making him daydream
The time before he became one of the world's unseen.
Princess in the tower, children in the fields;
Life gave him it all an island of the universe.
Oh, now his love's a memory, a ghost in the fog.
He sets the sails one last time saying farewell to the world.
Anchor to the water, seabed far below,
Grass still in his feet and a smile beneath his brow.
This is for long forgotten light at the end of the world,
Horizon crying the tears we left behind so long ago.
So long ago…
So long ago…
Nightwish: 'The Islander'
Narnia
There's no sense, the fire burns
When wisdom fails it changes all
The wheel embodies all that keeps on turning
Blood red skies, I feel so cold
No innocence, we play our role
The wheel embodies all, where are we going?
All in all you'd expect the wise to be wiser
Fallen from grace
And all in all I guess we should've known better
'Cause…
What about us?
Isn't it enough?
No, we're not in paradise
This is who we are
This is what we've got
No, it's not our paradise
But it's all we want and it's all that we're fighting for
Though it's not paradise

(Edmund)
Edmund shut his eyes.
He had a headache, but not out of stress; he'd had that kind often enough and he knew the difference. He was King and that just happened to be a busy job. But this was different…
Lucy.
The name suddenly flashed through his head, and he knew she was trying to establish some kind of mental connection. Maybe not consciously, but she thought about him intensely.
Edmund opened himself to her and focused on her. He became aware of much, but it was confusing… Lucy and Peter in chains… Her fear…
Edmund tried to reinforce her with his own Dragon Fire. Never before had that even been attempted and he hadn't the slightest idea whether or not it was possible, but he tried anyway. He had gotten more control over his powers. When he had sent boulders at Gimli during the Battle for Narnia, he had barely realized what he was doing; this time the results were to be attributed to concentration, training and discipline.
The connection between his mind and his adoptive sister's grew weaker and quickly died off.
Edmund briefly swore and then put his considerable intelligence to use. But he had too little data, there was too much uncertainty… In fact the best thing he could do was going see for himself. And not alone.
"Edmund?"
The young King smiled. Susan was reasonable. Surely she would listen to him. She would support him.
"Susan. I hope you didn't interrupt anything to find me?"
"No, I just happened to pass by and saw you standing there like that. Do you have any particular reason for standing there like that?" the girl asked hesitantly.
Her brother answered: "Not really. I was looking for a room to relax in. Good you're here, by the way. I sensed Lucy. She was afraid. I could feel her thinking of me. It would seem our big brother and our new little sister are in trouble."
Susan was rather surprised, but Edmund had expected as much. She asked seriously: "Are you sure?"
Edmund stared at her silently for a few seconds.
Then she said: "You're right, of course you're sure. Otherwise you wouldn't have said."
Edmund nodded. "Are we going to stay in Cair Paravel doing nothing?" he asked.
"No," his sister answered decidedly.
The young King grinned. "Then we agree. Let us try to assemble the Royal Navy. We'll take two days time. On the third, we sail for the Islands and war."
Author's Note: Yes, I agree, unforgivably short. My humble apologies. However, I couldn't see where it'd fit in better. Maybe I could've made last chapter in two parts, but it was a little late for that, so this was a more practical solution. Sorry! Next chapter will be (much) longer, I promise!
Edmund can assemble fleets as much as he likes, time is running out. He may not have two days. In the end, it'll probably be up to the people already on the spot to save the day. So, how are those doing?
Coming up next on 'The King, the Girl and the Lion – With a Vengeance': The only reason the Admiral is on the Islands is to avoid a violent response from Sauron. However, he's already been backstabbed. What exactly are the Nazgûl's instructions? Sauron and the Shoguns can't trust each other. The tension will end in bloodshed, but who will strike the next blow?
And, of course, please take some time to check out the trailers on YouTube by Nonokun24 and EdwardElricGirl200 and the fanfic by Supreme Arcanite Magician on here!
Finally, a very merry Christmas!
