Disclaimer:I don't own any of this! Lord of the Rings and everything it contains was originally the idea of J.R.R. Tolkien. Credits for Narnia and everything associated with it go to C.S. Lewis. The idea for this originally came from the video 'The king, the girl and the lion – Trailer' by Nonokun24 on YouTube. This chapter was mostly based on one scene from the movie 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader' by director Michael Apted.
Author's Note: Exams are over! So I have more time to write, and I decided to take advantage of that opportunity. I owe everyone who follows or even reads this my thanks. If you bother to review, I'm honored, but hey, I'm just glad someone reads this.
When fighting a war, one must take many risks. But no risk is as great as the risk of forgetting why you're fighting at all…
As always, I hope you'll like this!

The Lone Islands
The albatross is flying, making him daydream
The time before he became one of the world's unseen.
Princess in the tower, children in the fields;
Life gave him it all an island of the universe.
Oh, now his love's a memory, a ghost in the fog.
He sets the sails one last time saying farewell to the world.
Anchor to the water, seabed far below,
Grass still in his feet and a smile beneath his brow.
This is for long forgotten light at the end of the world,
Horizon crying the tears we left behind so long ago.
So long ago…
So long ago…
Nightwish: 'The Islander'
The Reason
I'm sorry that I hurt you;
It's something I must live with every day.
And all the pain I put you through;
I wish that I could take it all away,
And be the one who catches all your tears.
That's why I need you to hear
I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be.
A reason to start over new.
And the reason is you.
And the reason is you.
And the reason is you.
And the reason is you.
I'm not a perfect person…
I never meant to do those things to you.
And so I have to say before I go…
That I just want you to know
I found a reason for me
To change who I used to be.
A reason to start over new.
And the reason is you.
I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know.
A reason for all that I do;
And the reason is you.
Hoobastank: 'The Reason'
(Peter)
Peter, Lucy and her Blood Warrior came out.
Targutai and his nobles had stopped, and they understood why. A large cart was passing, filled with slaves and guided by Khândians.
Targutai came to them and explained: "The last shipment. After they're sold, slaves are shipped off to Rhûn."
Peter nodded briefly.
His attention was soon diverted. A girl about 9 years old ran after the cart, two ashigaru hot on her heels.
One of them shouted: "Gael, get back here! There's nothing you can do!"
Gael ignored them. "Mommy!" she screamed.
A woman around thirty looked back from the cart. "Gael!"
Targutai whispered: "Most families are taken and sold completely. They're an exception."
The girl's screaming had drawn the attention of the Khândians. One of them came for her, grinning. The Easterling who hadn't shouted leapt forward, grabbed Gael with his shield arm, uttered a battle cry that made one's blood turn cold, and stabbed the mercenary. His comrade protectively positioned himself next to them. The remaining Khândians were furious, but Targutai and his nobles reached for their weapons and they let it go.
The soldier holding the girl gently said: "It's okay. I've got you. It's alright."
"It's not," Gael sobbed. "Mommy…"
Lucy cringed. Peter knew she missed her own mother; he felt that way himself too. But he was sure he wouldn't see Helen again, at least not before he died himself. And Lucy would know by noon whether she'd see Arwen again – if she wasn't dead by then, and in that case she'd probably be able to go home. Gael would have to live with uncertainty, and that might last her whole life.
The Easterling kindly said: "There will be a day when you see her again."
"You don't know that," replied the girl sadly.
The man sighed. "Fine. I don't know that. But I do know this: you couldn't have done anything for her. And she wouldn't have wanted them to take you as well."
The Captain of the Dragon Galley intervened: "Take the child home. Stay and guard her there."
The two warriors bowed and led Gael away, while she was still sobbing uncontrollably.
Peter squeezed his little sister's shoulder. "Remember this well, sis. This is why we need to win today. This is why we need to win the war."
Author's Note: I know, I know, awfully short. My apologies. And I obviously took my time looking around for a song to go with the chapter… Still, most of the actual content is my own work, so that counts for something, right?
Kings and Queens need to defend their people. But how can they, when they're in chains themselves?
Coming up next on 'The King, the Girl and the Lion – With a Vengeance': Slavery is simple. When you're reduced to the status of slave, your old life is gone; you're nothing anymore. In theory. But can it be so easy? Are people that easily broken?
And yes, I still recommend the trailers on YouTube by Nonokun24 and EdwardElricGirl200 – just look for 'the king the girl and the lion trailer' and you shouldn't have a problem. Then there's my dear friend Supreme Arcanite Magician with a very different, but very interesting fanfic called 'Yu-Gi-Oh: European Duel Academy', and if you want more awesome LotR fanfiction, please take a moment to check 'The Sun Sets in the West' by Modern Artifact.
