Chapter 3 The World Goes on
Shippo looked wearily up at the sky. "Inuyasha hasn't come back yet," Shippo flicked his tail, looking out at the rain . Suddenly he heard a huge bang, everyone in the hut jumping from the noise. Miroku looked out the hut with Shippo, seeing the massive amount of rain falling down to the ground. "Goodness," he commented, looking over at Sango, "the weather was fine just a moment ago." Shippo sat up and started walking out of the hut. "I'll go look for Inuyasha to see if he is okay." Before Sango could say anything, Shippo was running on all fours out the door into the forest. Sango looked at where Shippo stood worriedly. "Please make it there safely." Miroku saw the worried look on Sango's face and came over to her, wrapping his arms around her. "Don't worry about Shippo," Miroku rubbed his thumb against her cheek, "he is getting older and can handle himself just fine." Sango nodded knowing Miroku was right. Shippo, still considered a pup, had actually grown a bit taller since the summer was coming up, now coming up to Sango's knee. Fox demons, just like wolf and inu pups, stay small for awhile but grow up as time goes on. Shippo's age is not much in demon years, but he will be able to start training and hunting on his own. She still worried about him though and hoped he found Inuyasha before something happened to him. Miroku, still seeing her worried face, kissed at her forehead. Sango looked up at him and smiled. "Miroku, cut that out. What if Lady Kaede saw?" Miroku chuckled and kissed her forehead again. "I'm only kissing you and besides, " he went up and whispered into her ear, "when we have our own little home, I can do more than kiss you." Sango blushed before slapping him on the cheek. "You….you pervert!" Sango went over to where Kaede was cooking in the back, her face a bright red. Miroku rubbed his finger over the slap mark on his face. Since he confessed to her about his feelings, she has not given him an answer yet. However, her slaps have gotten less painful, which made him feel inside that she was warming up to him. He smiled to himself, looking outside the hut. "I'll wait for you Sango. Because I only want you…"
Koga grimaced, sitting inside of the cold cave. "Why the hell did it have to start raining so hard?!" He touched his drenched hair, looking into the fire he had made. He was glad there was a weak, angry bear demon who did not like him entering his home or else he would not have supplies or bear fur to sleep into for the night. He looked over at the drying fur he cleaned earlier of blood, sighing that he would have to lay on a Sesshomaru's scent-less fur. He looked out at the rain. "I wonder what made it start raining all of a sudden." He stretched out, turning his bear meat around on the fire. Being a demon, he did like to eat his meat raw but after visiting Inuyasha's camp on several occasions, he did find that he liked bear, boar, and pig meat cooked a little before eating it. Koga decided he should get out of his wet clothes and let them dry a bit, not liking the feeling of his armor sticking to his body. He stripped down naked, replacing the fur with his armor to dry. He laid his fur out on the cave floor, sitting it down near the fire. He pulled out the meat and sat on top of the furs, happily eating his meat. One thing he loved about going out of his own is that he did not have to share the meat with anyone. Sure, he was the alpha and got any of his choice of the meat, but he always made sure that the women and pups got the premium meat so they can live longer and stronger. With him having his own meals, he did not have to consider anyone but himself. Moments later, he sighed, rubbing his stomach happily. He undid his hair, shaking off the excess water. He wrapped himself in the furs, making sure to cover himself but also able to attack anyone who might enter the cave. He slowly closed his eyes, hearing the sounds of the rain falling and fell asleep.
In his own cave, Inuyasha groaned, looking out at the weather. "Damn rain," He shook out his hair, looking at the downpour outside. It was cold and wet in his cave and does not look like anyone has lived in it for a long time. He sat on the ground, feeling a bit cold with no fire to give him any warmth. He couldn't to stare out into the dreary weather until his ears twitched from hearing a very loud boom noise that rang through the forest. He jumped up in alert, his ears twitches trying to find the source. After the echo died down, he sat back down, concluding that it was only the storm that he was hearing and not any real danger. As soon as he sat down, he heard footsteps running towards his area. He got up and behind the cave wall near the entrance, waiting to see who would enter the cave. He extended his claws, ready for a fight and to pounce on any enemy that showed. It took awhile before a very wet and tired Shippo walked into the cave, looking around. Inuyasha sighed, calming himself down and going over to Shippo. "What the hell are you doing here, squirt?" Shippo jumped a bit before going up and hugging Inuyasha's leg. "Inuyasha, you're okay," he smiled up at him, ignoring the squirt comment. Inuyasha shook his head as Shippo released him, shaking himself off. "Shippo, you know you aren't suppose to be going out on your own like that." Inuyasha sat down indian style on the ground. Shippo gave him a glare and pouted. "I'm old enough to take care of myself, stupid mutt!" The response was answered by a large bonk on the head. "Ouch! No fair!" Inuyasha looked over at Shippo as he was tending to his newly given wound. "Shippo has grown up a bit," Inuyasha thought to himself, looking over at Shippo's taller toddler size form, "it won't be before long that he'll go off to start training." Inuyasha smiled over at him, always considering Shippo has his own son, ruffing up Shippo's hair. "Yeah...you have gotten taller haven't ya?" Shippo looked up Inuyasha, seeing a bit of pride in his eyes which quickly changed back to his normal stubborn ones. "What you looking at?!" Shippo stuck his tongue out at him. "You dumb dumb!" There was another loud thunk and Shippo's cry in pain.
Koga popped up a bit, hearing the loud thunderous noise from a distance. "What in the hell?" Koga thought to himself, looking out towards the cave entrance. "Loud, wasn't it?" Koga froze hearing a familiar cold voice inside of the cave. He turned to see no one other than Lord Sesshomaru sitting by his fire. "Wh…when did...how did…?!" Koga looked at him confused and dumbfounded with tons of questions whirling through his mind. "How did I not hear him? Was I being that careless?" Sesshomaru continued to look at the fire. "I could smell you in the cave and when I saw you were asleep I quietly just sat down near the fire," He said answering his questions, "if any normal demon can come through here, you probably would have heard and reacted to it. And also…" Sesshomaru finally looked over at Koga. "If you want us to have any form of conversation, it's going to hard with your….current state." Koga looked at him, confused until he remembered...he had slept in his pelts completely naked. His hair was down, still a bit wet and all Sesshomaru could see, thankfully, was just Koga's bare torso. Koga's face got red and then he shouted at Sesshomaru. "Well, how dare you look at me in such a perverted way then!" He turned away from him and looked into the fire. "It is purely acceptable for two men to talk while naked for God's sakes!" Koga huffed at him, looking back at him, hoping he had hide his embarrassment. Sesshomaru took a moment before responding. "You are correct. It is normal for two men to talk their naked. So….are you suggesting I take my clothes off as well?" Koga's mouth jaw dropped at Sesshomaru's statement. "Wh...I….no….I didn't," Koga said flustered and his face red. Sesshomaru stoically looked back at the fire. "I was only teasing you, wolf prince." Koga nearly fall to the ground. "He was joking?!" He thought to himself in disbelief. "The ice lord has jokes…..now I've seen everything." Koga said out loud taking a deep breath, "why are you in my cave, Sesshomaru?" Sesshomaru looked at him. "I don't remembering you claiming this cave. Also it's raining and you don't expect this Sesshomaru to get wet, do you?" Koga only shook his head at him, laying back down on his bear skins. "Yeah yeah."
There was silence between them for a moment. "Did you receive my latest gift?" Sesshomaru said breaking the calm silence between them. "Yeah, I did," Koga tried not to sound like he enjoyed Sesshomaru's gifts. He stays neutral with all his suitors….the numbers quickly disappearing as more and more hear of Sesshomaru's current pursuit of him. He would never admit it to Sesshomaru but he did, in fact, enjoy his gifts the most. Most of the gifts he gets from Sesshomaru are actually quite practical and he used most of them. From the lounging kimono to even the simple hair ties he sends, he liked them or even loved them all, but he refused to let Sesshomaru know that at all. "I just put them over with the other gifts I receive from my other suitors," he said trying to sound indifferent to hear Sesshomaru's response. "Yes….like the red silk hair tie that is laying over next to you…..and my slight scent on your clothes that could not have come from the bottle I sent you." Koga popped up again, his face red again only to be met with Sesshomaru's smirk. "You….you cut it out and leave me alone damnit!" Sesshomaru was starting to piss Koga off. "Damn know-it-all! Acts like he knows everything!" He thought to himself, closing his eyes a bit. He suddenly a slightly cold hand touch his cheek and then roam a bit through his hair. He opened up his eyes to see Sesshomaru, now close to his face. "Although," Sesshomaru said in a quiet velvety tone, "you do look better with your hair down." Koga felt like his heart was pounding at a thousand miles per hour. He felt like if Sesshomaru got any closer, it would explode out of his chest. It was so loud, ringing his ears making his brain unable to think. He immediately move his hand away and hide in the bear pelts, his face a bright red. Sesshomaru just looked down at the now Koga lump in front of him, only to turn around and look back at the fire. He smiled to himself, knowing Koga would be unable to see it at his current state, enjoying his small victory towards Koga. Koga tried to calm himself down, touching his face where Sesshomaru's hand was. He growled to himself and looking at the back of the cave. "What is the hell is he doing to me?!"
