Daisuke Uchiha Chapter 19
I don't own Digimon or Naruto
Chapter Nineteen: The Search for the Fifth Hokage Begins
Daisuke groaned as she slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry for a moment before it cleared and she saw she was in the hospital that was amazingly still in one piece despite the recent invasion. "What happened?" she asked aloud before hearing a yawn. She sat up and saw Kakashi stretching before he looked at Daisuke and stood up. "Sensei."
"Finally up Daisuke?" he asked her with his infamous eye smile. Daisuke smiled at him before she remembered what happened.
"The village, is it alright?" she asked, and Kakashi nodded in confirmation. "That's good."
"Yes…however," Kakashi began making Daisuke look up.
"What happened? Naruto and Sasuke are fine aren't they?"
"Don't worry Daisuke, they are fine. Unfortunately we lost quite a few ninja during the invasion. The casualties were better than we feared but worse than we hoped. The Third Hokage was one of those we lost," he told Daisuke who gasped.
"How?" she asked in a barely audible whisper.
"Orochimaru, he posed as the Kazekage and tricked the Sand Village to attack us during the Chunin Exams. He fought the Third Hokage who gave his life to protect his village."
"So did Orochimaru kill him?"
"No, Orochimaru used a forbidden jutsu that revived the First and Second Hokage's to fight against the Third. In turn the Third Hokage used a forbidden technique of his own called the Reaper Death Seal to seal away the two former Hokage, and he managed to seal Orochimaru's arms as well. This stopped him from using hand signs ever again, at the cost of his own soul."
"So, what happens next?" Daisuke asked.
"The Fire Daimyo along with a few others will decide the next Hokage in a few days," Kakashi told her, and Daisuke nodded as the door opened up. Naruto, Sasuke, and Kiba with Akamaru on his head ran into the room.
"Daisuke you're up!" Naruto cheered happily hugging his friend who returned the gesture. Sasuke nodded to her and Akamaru barked happily as he jumped off of Kiba and onto Daisuke's bed. He licked her cheek.
"Hey boy," she greeted the puppy.
"You had us worried Dai," Kiba told her smiling.
"Why?"
"You were suffering from chakra exhaustion according to the doctors, as well as some broken ribs and bruises," Sasuke told her.
"That's it? The way you guys said it you made me think I had lost a kidney or something," Daisuke replied, a slightly amused and relieved smile on her lips.
"Don't joke about that Daisuke," Naruto told his friend frowning.
"Okay, okay. Can I go now?" she asked looking at Kakashi.
"The doctors said you could leave once you woke up," he replied, and Daisuke cheered before jumping out of the window, making the other occupants of the room sweatdrop.
"She does not like hospitals huh?" Naruto deadpanned.
"No kidding. Come on Naruto, we better make sure she doesn't end up back here again," Sasuke said as he jumped out of the window and Naruto followed suit.
"Wait up!" Kiba shouted, but before he could jump after them someone grabbed his collar. He turned to see a nurse with long brown hair done up in a ponytail and two marks on her cheeks just like his frowning at him.
"No you don't little brother, you're still recovering from your fight with Naruto. No strenuous activities for another week, you know this," the girl told him.
"Hana, come on let me go!" Kiba shouted as his sister dragged him off out of the room. Kakashi chuckled before he pulled out his orange book and poofed away in a cloud of smoke.
Elsewhere, in large room there were several people. One of them wore red and white noble clothing marking him as the Daimyo while in front of him were several shinobi. One of them was Danzo and another was a man who was an older version of Shikamaru and just as lazy. There also were the heads of each clan, and Jiraiya was in the room as well.
"So have we anyone to take the place of Hokage now that Hiruzen has passed?" the Daimyo asked. A very small smile played over Danzo's lips but vanished before anyone noticed. He was about to speak up another voice called out.
"I nominate Kakashi Hatake," Shikamaru's father said firmly.
"Ah, son of the White Fang and student to the Fourth Hokage," the Daimyo said.
"True he is a worthy candidate…but he is still stuck in the past due the circumstances of how he lost his two teammates and he is still suffering from his sensei's death," Danzo said. "If he had continued to grow as a shinobi he may have been worthy, but he has neither the strength nor temperament we need."
"Yes, but then who if not Kakashi?" the Daimyo asked. "What about you master Jiraiya?" The Toad Sage guffawed momentarily.
"While I am certainly strong enough for the role of Hokage, I don't want it and I'm not the world's best leader anyways. I also have a very important spy network that works much more efficiently when I'm paying personal attention to it."
"Then who do you suggest becomes Hokage?" the Daimyo asked Jiraiya.
"I think I have an idea, my old teammate Tsunade Senju."
"Her? But she hasn't been heard from ever since the Kyuubi attack," Danzo protested calmly.
"But I know where she could be, my sources tell me she has never left the Land of Fire. I think I can find her and convince her to become Hokage," Jiraiya told Danzo. Danzo continued to press.
"Even if she has the physical strength to become Hokage, she does not have the temperament. Anyone who would abandon their village, even for a loved one's death is not worthy to be Hokage. Everyone in this room has lost someone, but none of us simply gave up like she did." Jiraiya gritted his teeth, but before he could continue the Daimyo spoke up.
"Councilman Danzo has some good points, but I trust Jiraiya's judgement. If he believes she would make Hokage, well, I'm sure he knows better than I do." The Daimyo ended the sentence with snapping a fan open in front of his face momentarily. Danzo frowned visibly but didn't continue to push.
"Very well, we shall organise some ANBU to accompany you," Koharu told Jiraiya.
"No, I only need one person to come with me," Jiraiya said dismissively.
"Who?" the Daimyo asked.
"Naruto Uzumaki." Murmurs of surprise filled the room and Danzo actually twitched in a barely perceptible manner.
"Done, you may take Uzumaki with you to go and bring Tsunade back," the Daimyo told the Sannin who nodded and vanished in a puff of smoke.
Meanwhile Naruto and Daisuke were at Ichiraku's and Naruto was slurping down his fifth bowl of ramen while Daisuke was just finishing her second bowl.
"Keep them coming Teuchi!" Naruto told the chef.
"You got it Naruto, Ayame another bowl of ramen for our favourite customer," Teuchi called to the back of the ramen stand.
"On it dad," Ayame replied as she got to work on making some more ramen.
"So I hear you and your teammates were responsible for saving the village from the Sand village's Jinchuriki," Teuchi said to Naruto who grinned.
"You know it old man, we kicked ass!" he boasted while Daisuke sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Must you act like that?" She asked him.
"Oh come on, it's not every day we get to fight Jinchuriki and win Daisuke. Gaara made Aoi look like a newly minted Genin," Naruto told his friend.
"Yeah, but Aoi was no pushover," Daisuke answered. "We've just gotten a lot stronger."
"She's right Naruto." Both Naruto and Daisuke turned to see Jiraiya enter the stand. He sat beside Naruto.
"Pervey Sage?" Naruto asked. "I didn't know you liked ramen."
"I do, just not as much as you," he answered. "Anyway, I wanted to see you Naruto."
"Why?" Naruto asked.
"I've been tasked with bringing back the next Hokage, and I wanted to bring you along as well. Consider it a training trip," he told Naruto.
"A training trip? Awesome!" Naruto cheered.
"What do you say?" Jiraiya asked. Naruto frowned as he scrunched his face up in thought.
"Okay I'm in, but can Daisuke come?" Naruto asked, and Daisuke choked on her ramen before Teuchi patted her back.
"What?" she asked in shock.
"Naruto…I only asked for you to come, I'm not a babysitter," the Toad Sannin told Naruto.
"Either she comes as well, or I don't go at all," the blonde ninja said defiantly.
"Alright fine, damn you are persistent gaki," Jiraiya said laughing. "Meet me at the gate in an hour," he told the two Genin before leaving the ramen stand.
"Naruto why did you demand that I come with you?" Daisuke asked.
"Well I figured since sensei would probably be training Sasuke I figured you could use some training as well," He answered.
"You didn't need to do that for me," she told him. "I'm sure Kakashi could have created another clone to train me."
"Well I thought it might be cool to train together," he said defensively. "Besides I don't like that you're second place to Sasuke in Kakashi-sensei's mind." Daisuke smiled at the blond, honestly touched. She didn't think that really was the case, but it was sweet of Naruto to care like that.
"Okay, I'll see you at the gate in an hour then Naruto," she said and Naruto nodded. Both of them ran off towards their homes. Daisuke arrived at her and Sasuke's house where she heard an explosion and ran out the back to see Sasuke training.
"FIRE STYLE: FIREBALL JUTSU!" he exclaimed, jumping into the air. He breathed a fireball at a training dummy and the fireball hit it, incinerating the target and leaving nothing but a scorch mark on the grounds.
"Hey Sasuke," Daisuke called to him and he looked over.
"Hey Dai, what're you doing here? I thought you and Naruto were eating at Ichiraku's or something."
"We were but the guy that trained Naruto for the finals came in and said he had been given the job of finding the next Hokage," Daisuke answered.
"There is a 'but', isn't there?"
"Yeah, Naruto refused to come along with him unless I was allowed to come as well. Naruto said it was because Kakashi was training you and all that," Daisuke said.
"Well he's not completely wrong, Kakashi did say he'd train me a bit more. Go with Naruto if you want to," Sasuke told Daisuke who smiled.
"You're not mad?" she asked him.
"Not really, Kakashi's a perfectly good teacher for me at the moment. You can keep Naruto out of trouble as well," Sasuke added with a slight grin and Daisuke rolled her eyes.
"He's not that bad Sasuke. Anyway I'll see you when we get back from bringing back the Hokage."
"Stay safe Dai," Sasuke said.
"I always am," she replied as she walked off to prepare for her journey. An hour later Daisuke and Naruto were waiting outside the gate for Jiraiya to arrive. "Is he always late?" Daisuke asked her teammate.
"Not really, he was always on time when he trained me for the month before the finals," he answered. "But now, he's probably at the hot springs peeping on women."
"You're telling me a pervert trained you for the finals?" Daisuke asked shocked.
"I'm not a pervert. I'm a super pervert!" Jiraiya exclaimed, appearing behind the two of them making them jump in the air in fright.
"Don't do that Pervey sage!" Naruto shouted at the Sannin who laughed.
"Sorry about that Gaki. Now then, are you both prepared? We may be gone a while," he asked them and they nodded.
"Sure, let's go!" Naruto cheered as he ran off.
"Naruto! We don't know where we're going to start looking!" Daisuke shouted.
"Don't worry, he's heading the right way anyway. Come on before he gets too far ahead," Jiraiya told her and Daisuke nodded. Both of them ran off after Naruto. Soon they two of them had caught up to the energetic boy who had slowed to a walk.
"So who're we looking for again?" Naruto asked.
"She's my teammate, Tsunade Senju," Jiraiya answered.
"I've read about her, she's the most famous medic in the world, but she left the village for unknown reasons," Daisuke said.
"True she left the village, but I have a feeling we can find her and convince her to return," Jiraiya told the two.
"Will we be training at all during this trip?" Naruto asked.
"Sure, we'll keep walking for a few more miles and then I'll start to train you both. Unfortunately I can't train you Daisuke in your Sharingan, but I heard from Kakashi you have Fire, Earth, and Wind chakra natures."
"Wait! You have three?" Naruto asked and Daisuke nodded. "No fair, I have only wind."
"Calm down Gaki, I have some scrolls for wind release. You can both learn them later," Jiraiya told his two companions.
"Well, that's fine I guess," Naruto said pouting before his expression brightened. "Can we work on the Rasengan too!?" he asked enthusiastically making Daisuke giggle at his change in attitude.
"Of course we can, I did plan on training you more about it anyway," Jiraiya said.
"No disrespect Master Jiraiya, but what is so special about the Rasengan anyway? I saw what it could do to Gaara during the invasion but I'm still a little confused about it, Naruto didn't use handsigns to create it," Daisuke asked curiously.
"Well that's the great thing about the Rasengan, it is purely shape manipulation of a person's chakra. Because of that it requires no hand signs to perform, and it was created by the Fourth Hokage," Jiraiya explained.
"Whoa! You mean Naruto knows the Fourth Hokage's own jutsu?" Daisuke asked in awe.
"Oh yeah, I knew I was a badass," Naruto boasted.
"Okay Gaki, get your head out of the clouds," the toad Sannin told Naruto as the trio saw a village appear in the distance. "We'll stop here for a while, that okay?" he asked Daisuke and Naruto who both nodded their heads.
Back in the village Sasuke was looking around for Kakashi in hopes of learning some more jutsu or improving on what he already knew.
"Where is sensei, I was certain he said meet me at that tea shop but he wasn't there. I waited for hours, then I asked around and I find out he went home, but why?" he thought to himself.
"Did you hear, Itachi Uchiha returned to the village?" Sasuke froze when he heard another shinobi speak.
"I did, and he incapacitated Kakashi with some weird Sharingan technique," another shinobi said.
"I heard he's looking for Naruto Uzumaki."
"What would Itachi want with Naruto?" Sasuke thought.
"Yeah, but he's not in the village, he left with Master Jiraiya." Sasuke frowned before he ran off.
"I don't care what he wants with Naruto, but I won't let him harm him or Daisuke. I will not lose anyone else," he thought in determination as he ran out of the village after Naruto and Daisuke. And speaking of Daisuke and Naruto, the two of them were sitting in their room at the local inn relaxing.
"I can't believe Jiraiya told us to get a room while he went off to a brothel. And he's one of the Legendary Sannin?" Daisuke asked.
"I told you he was a pervert and now you know I wasn't lying," Naruto told her as he and some shadow clones were balancing on top of each other.
"Yeah but still, I thought the Sannin were powerful ninja. I mean, I know they're strong but do they have to be so weird? Orochimaru is a creepy snake freak, and Jiraiya is a lecherous old man," Daisuke said just before someone knocked at the door. Naruto lost concentration and both he and the shadow clones fell on top of each other causing the clones dispelled in clouds of smoke.
"Who is it?" Naruto asked but the person knocked on the door again. "Okay, I'm coming."
"I got a bad feeling about this," Daisuke thought as she activated her Sharingan. Naruto opened the door and looked up to see two Sharingan eyes staring at him. Daisuke felt ice fill her veins as she froze up in terror. Memories she had thought she had repressed came back full force. "Itachi U-U-Uchiha," she stuttered as Naruto looked back at her and then up at Itachi.
"Itachi Uchiha? So you're the guy who killed Daisuke and Sasuke's clan?" Naruto growled at him angrily.
"Are you sure this little brat is the Kyuubi?" a large man with sharklike characteristics and carrying a huge sword wrapped in bandages asked Itachi.
"K-Kyuubi? What do you want with Naruto?" Daisuke asked shakily, her entire body shivering in remembered pain.
"That is none of your concern little girl," the large fish man said to her.
"Kisame, enough. Naruto you need to come with us now," Itachi told him, but Naruto stayed where he stood before smirking. He vanished in a cloud of smoke. "Shadow Clone eh?" Itachi said as he heard a grunt and saw Naruto try to kick him in the head. Itachi caught his leg and effortlessly tossed the blonde haired Jinchuriki down the hallway.
"ITACHI!" a furious voice shouted, and everyone turned to see Sasuke standing at the opposite end of the hallway.
"It's been a long time….Sasuke," Itachi said evenly.
"Sasuke?! What're you doing here?" Daisuke asked him, the surprise of seeing her friend shaking her out of her fear. Sasuke ignored her.
"I have been waiting for this day ever since you massacred our clan. I've done as you said, I've held in my rage, my anger for the sole purpose…." Sasuke's hand was covered in lightning. "Of killing you!" he roared.
"Chidori?" Itachi mused as Sasuke charged towards his brother, Chidori in hand. When Sasuke neared his brother, Itachi side-stepped and caught Sasuke's hand effortlessly.
"He caught it!" Naruto thought shocked. Itachi glared at Sasuke before a snap and pop was heard and Sasuke screamed. He staggered back and held his arm that Itachi had broken. Sasuke was then thrown down the hallway and the next thing he knew Itachi had his hand on his throat.
"You are still weak, after all this time….you still don't have enough hatred…" Itachi whispered to his brother.
"Sasuke!" Daisuke screamed as she ran towards Itachi but Kisame got in her way. Daisuke tried to jump over him, but a swing from the wrapped sword sent her back. He lunged towards Kisame in desperation. "EARTH STYLE: SUPERWEIGHT BOULDER JUTSU!" she exclaimed, reaching out to touch her opponent, but he stepped back. "Let him go!" Daisuke shouted at Itachi who glanced back at her dismissively. Rage building, Daisuke's eyes shifted into her Mangekyo. Itachi dropped Sasuke and fully turned around.
"Mangekyo," Itachi whispered and the next thing he knew he was punched and sent crashing through a wall. But as he did so his body was replaced by a section of broken wall and Itachi appeared a little further down the hall. Daisuke was covered in her Susanoo rib cage and two bone arms. One was clenched in a fist shape while the second one was held in front of Sasuke.
"You alright Sasuke?" Daisuke asked before her Susanoo dispersed and she fell to her knees. Sasuke managed to support her with his good arm.
"Apart from my arm being dislocated and broken then yeah, I'm fine." Both Kisame and Itachi stepped towards to the two when they were suddenly interrupted.
"Have no fear, Jiraiya is here!" Everyone present turned to see Jiraiya appear.
"You're late!" All three of the Leaf Genin shouted at him.
"Kisame, we need to leave!" Itachi ordered as he jumped back through the hole his substitution had made when Daisuke punched him with her Susanoo.
"What!? Why?" Kisame asked.
"We've drawn too much attention to ourselves and Jiraiya is not one we could hope to best easily. It would be more prudent to capture the child when he's not guarded by one of the strongest shinobi in the Elemental Nations. Let's go!" Itachi answered, and Kisame grumbled before he jumped out of the hole after Itachi. Naruto ran over to Sasuke and Daisuke.
"Are you two alright?" he asked them.
"Yeah, but my arm is busted," Sasuke said holding his injured arm.
"DYNAMIC ENTRY!" Suddenly a green blur shot past and kicked Jiraiya in the face, sending him to the ground. It was revealed to be Might Gai, Lee, Tenten and Neji's sensei.
"Super Bushy Brows sensei!" Naruto exclaimed.
"Do you nickname all the people you meet?" Sasuke asked him.
"Sure do teme," Naruto replied cheekily and Sasuke's eyebrow twitched slightly.
"Master Jiraiya, I am so sorry," Gai said to the old Sannin.
"Don't worry about it, what's wrong Gai?" he asked.
"Kakashi has been hospitalised when he ran into Itachi Uchiha," Gai answered.
"Sensei, is he alright?" Daisuke asked.
"If he ran into Itachi, chances are he was subjected to Itachi's Tsukoyomi Genjutsu," Jiraiya guessed.
"Will he be okay?" Naruto asked.
"He will be once we find Tsunade, she is the best healer in the world," Jiraiya told him before he turned to Gai. "Gai, I need you to take Sasuke back to the village to be healed."
"I'm fine," Sasuke said before he grunted in pain.
"Sasuke, don't act tough right now. If your arm isn't fixed it can lead to more serious problems later," Daisuke told him and Sasuke looked at her before nodding.
"Fine, but you better be back soon," he said as Gai grabbed him and put him over his shoulders. The older shinobi ran off at incredible speed.
"Okay, now we need to find this Tsunade chick even faster," Daisuke said.
"My spies tell me she is in Tanzaku Town, not far from here," Jiraiya told her.
"Then let's go," Naruto said.
"Okay, to Tanzaku town," Daisuke declared.
