The next morning Daisuke was up bright and early and she walked downstairs and began her morning training. "I wonder if I can still do everything like I used to. Or if Orochimaru messed me up," she thought before she went through handsigns. "FIRE STYLE: FIREBALL JUTSU!" she shouted shooting a fireball, and it smashed into a training post which caught fire and crackled and popped. "Oh yeah, I still got my kick ass skills," she said with a grin.
"Impressive," a voice behind and above her said, she turned around to see the former ANBU named Bear now called Yamato standing on the roof of her and Sasuke's house.
"You? You're Yamato right?" she asked and he nodded dropping down from the roof. Daisuke got a good look at him to see he was wearing standard Jonin attire but he didn't have a headband, instead he had the same type of headgear the Second Hokage had which was happuri-style and it framed his face. "What're you doing here?" Daisuke asked him.
"I'm here to begin training you in your new bloodline," Yamato told her.
"Training? Here? Now?"
"No, not here specifically. Follow me," Yamato told her and Daisuke nodded and both jumped off. Soon both were standing in a large and secluded training field.
"Okay. So what do we do now that we are here?" Daisuke asked him, Yamato held out a piece of paper. "Chakra paper? Why do we need that? I already know I have fire, wind and earth affinities," she told him.
"True. But if you have wood style that must mean you have a water affinity now," Yamato said. "I'm hoping to figure out how strong it is in comparison to your other elements."
"Yeah, right," Daisuke mumbled and Yamato handed her the paper. She sighed and channelled her chakra into the paper which split into three pieces. One burned, the second turned into dust, and the third slowly became damp and soggy indicating a water affinity, though not as strong as the other three. "Huh?"
"It appears you do have a water affinity, but it's not as strong. Probably because it is artificial," Yamato mused before he asked "Do you know what a Kekkei Genkai is?"
"Of course I do. A special type of ability that is only seen in a certain clan, like the Uchiha and their Sharingan or the Hyuga and their Byakugan," Daisuke replied.
"Those are dojutsu. But an elemental bloodline involves two or more elements being fused to create a new one. This is normally impossible to achieve on one's own, though someone skilled in collaboration jutsu can fake it, but if they possess said bloodline, they can fuse their two specific elements. Take the extinct Yuki clan's Ice release. Or the First Hokage's Wood Style," Yamato said and Daisuke nodded in understanding.
"Right. So what do we learn first?" she asked Yamato.
"First. We're going to get you a grip on your new power. Tsunade said you managed a wood jutsu when escaping from Orochimaru."
"But I didn't even know where I was or what I was doing at the time. I don't even remember doing it! It might have just been instinct," Daisuke explained.
"I see. Alright, let's try something basic and that can be used for defence and offence," Yamato said before he weaved through handsigns and instantly a tree behind Daisuke groaned and its branches shot towards her. She jumped out of the way.
"Hey!" Daisuke shouted.
"That's what I will teach you to learn to control your new abilities. With this you can defend yourself and attack your opponent from any direction as long as there are trees nearby," Yamato informed, and Daisuke looked at him before grinning.
"Cool," Daisuke said as she weaved through the handsigns Yamato had used, but she suddenly was upside down with a branch holding her ankle. "For crying out loud," she mumbled, and Yamato chuckled.
"Don't expect to get it down right away kid," he told her as he made a handsign and the branch dropped Daisuke who flipped and landed on her feet. "Now then, I want you to practice that jutsu until you can do it easily and during a battle, then I will begin to teach you some more techniques," he informed her which made her smile and nod. "Well? What are you waiting for? Get to training."
"Yes sir," Daisuke replied, and she began to practice the jutsu Yamato had showed her. At first she kept getting her leg snagged by the branch but as the sun began to set she finally got it down. "I think I got it."
"Are you sure?" Yamato asked her seriously and she nodded. The next thing she knew, Yamato had thrown shuriken at her and she reflexively used the jutsu. A tree branch moved in front of Daisuke and the shuriken hit the wood with dull thuds.
"Have you lost your mind!?" she shouted at Yamato who looked at her with a stern face and a strange aura was coming from him, making Daisuke shiver.
"No. I was testing to see if you had actually gotten the technique down," he told her and Daisuke shuddered.
"Whatever you say," she told him. "This guy is nuts," she thought.
"You can go for today," Yamato told her and Daisuke jumped away and headed towards Naruto's apartment and she landed on the window ledge and knocked on the window making Naruto look at her with ramen falling out of his mouth and Daisuke laughed hysterically, Naruto grumbled as he opened the window.
"Hey Dai, what're you doing here?" he asked.
"I'm just checking up on you," she answered jumping into the apartment.
"Oh just perfect," Naruto said.
"What's wrong?" Daisuke asked him noticing his frowning face.
"Well, after you got kidnapped, Tsunade said we couldn't do anything. But I didn't listen so I got Kiba and Sasuke to come with me to find you, and we did after you had passed out and killed six sound ninja with wood style," Naruto answered. "Then when we got you back, Tsunade told us that any promotion we would have gotten from the Chunin exams is null and void because we saved you."
"Naruto, thanks for saving me. But I think that punishment was appropriate, you can't go out like that on your own. You could have been in trouble and no one would have known about it," Daisuke told him.
"Yeah, whatever. And on top of that we can't go on anything more than D-rank missions until you've recovered," Naruto said before he realised Daisuke had recovered. "Alright, we can go back to normal missions now!" he shouted happily before Daisuke smacked him on the back of the head making him yelp and hold his head. "Hey."
"Don't be so eager to get into trouble again Naruto," Daisuke told him and he pouted at her. "Don't you use that face on me," she said turning around and crossing her arms and Naruto laughed making her laugh as well.
"It's good to see you're okay Dai," Naruto said and Daisuke smiled as she hugged Naruto who hugged her back.
"Now, I gotta go and see Kiba," she said before jumping out the window and headed towards the Inuzuka compound where she heard barking from the several dozen dogs living there. She then saw Kiba sitting on the room of the building in the middle of the compound and she jumped and landed beside him. "Yo," she greeted, and Akamaru who was sitting on Kiba's head barked happily at her.
"Hey," Kiba greeted.
"What's wrong?" she asked and Kiba pointed to bite marks on his butt and legs.
"Mom and Hana decided to do some evasion training with me yesterday, and by that I mean I had to run away from their dogs. And you can see how that turned out," he answered.
"Want me to kiss them better?" Daisuke teased him making him blush and Akamaru yip.
"Oh shut it," Kiba told his partner.
"Don't be mean to Akamaru," Daisuke said and Kiba nodded reluctantly. "Sorry, if you coming to rescue me is the reason you got those."
"Hey don't talk like that. I would do it again and again no matter what would happen to me, as long as you're safe that's all that matters," Kiba told her as he took her hand and Daisuke smiled at him and hugged him.
"Now isn't this cute," a voice said making Daisuke and Kiba turn around to see Kakashi standing there.
"Sensei!" Daisuke squeaked her face going bright red. "This isn't what you think it is," she told him.
"So it didn't look like you and Kiba were just hugging. Was it something more than that?" he asked with a perverted giggle and Daisuke's eyebrow twitched.
"Pervert!" she screamed throwing shuriken at him but he stepped away from them.
"Easy Dai, Tsunade's sent me to get you for a mission," he told her and Daisuke calmed down.
"Oh, okay then," she said. "Let's go." Kakashi vanished in a plume of smoke and Daisuke pecked Kiba on the check. "Later Kiba!" she shouted jumping off and Kiba waved with a goofy smile on his face. Daisuke jumped through the village and she jumped through the window to the Hokage's office. "Hullo all," she greeted sitting on the windowsill and she ducked under a bottle thrown by Tsunade.
"Cheeky brat," she mumbled and Daisuke jumped in front of her beside Sasuke and Naruto.
"Daisuke Uchiha reporting for duty," she said with a mock salute and a grin making her team chuckle.
"Yes, well. Good to see you're the same as ever," Tsunade said.
"You know it," Daisuke replied. "So, what's the mission and it better be a good one."
"Well, you should like this one. It's a delivery mission to the village of Takigakure. Or the Hidden Waterfall Village," Tsunade said.
"What're we delivering?" Naruto asked and Tsunade tossed him a scroll.
"An agreement stating that both villages will aid each other in times of need," she explained and Kakashi took the scroll and nodded. "Now, get going you lot. And Daisuke, two things. First…" Tsunade said tossing a jacket to Daisuke making her eyes go wide.
"A Chunin vest?" she asked.
"Congratulations, you're now officially a Chunin on Konoha. And the second thing is don't get kidnapped again. I would appreciate one less headache,"
"No promises," Daisuke replied jumping out the window followed by Naruto and Sasuke and Kakashi left in a swirl of leaves. About ten minutes later the reunited Team 7 were outside the gate to the village.
"Alright team, it's a long walk to Taki, so let's get going," Kakashi told the Genin and newly promoted Chunin.
"Alright, a new mission," Naruto said walking off and the others followed him.
"So, Chunin huh?" Sasuke asked Daisuke.
"You're not angry at me because Tsunade made your promotion null and void are you?" she asked.
"Nah, not really. There's next time," Sasuke answered casually making Daisuke sigh in relief. The four shinobi continued to walk towards their destination.
"Hurry up slow pokes!" Naruto called to them.
"Naruto, be quiet! Someone could be listening," Daisuke warned him just as someone collided with Naruto sending him rolling across the ground. When he regained his bearings he saw he was on top of a girl with mint green hair, tanned skin, orange eyes and she wore a white mini skirt and white shirt leaving her midriff exposed and she had a headband around her right arm with Taki's symbol on it.
"Sorry," she apologised blushing madly.
"It's alright," Naruto said standing up and he helped the girl to her feet. "I'm Naruto Uzumaki, future Hokage of Konoha," he introduced.
"I'm Fu, nice to meet ya," the girl now known as Fu chirped. "And we should really get out of here, like now."
"Naruto are you alright?" Kakashi asked as he and Sasuke and Daisuke ran up to the blonde.
"I'm fine," he replied. "So Fu, what were you doing out here by yourself?" he then asked her.
"I was running," she answered. "Just like you should be doing at the moment."
"From your home?" Daisuke asked.
"No," she answered. "Damnit, they're here." She looked like she was about to bolt again, when she glanced at the group. "On second thought, maybe my odds are better with these guys," she muttered.
"Then from what?" Sasuke asked her.
"FIRE STYLE: SEARING MIGRAINE!" a voice roared and everyone saw a massive fireball heading towards them.
"EARTH STYLE: EARTH WALL!" Daisuke shouted slamming her hands down and a wall of earth rose up and blocked the fireball. The wall crumbled after blocking the attack, and two figures dropped down both wearing the same robes Itachi and Kisame wore.
"Akatsuki," Kakashi said as one of the figures who wore a mask and had solid green eyes with red sclera looked up at him.
"Kakashi Hatake of the Sharingan. Leaf Village Jounin, S-Ranked ninja you've got quite a bounty on your head," he said.
"No way Kakuzu. I will be sacrificing him to Lord Jashin," the other Akatsuki member who had purple eyes and slicked back silver hair. He wore a strange medallion and held a three bladed scythe.
"Hidan, shut up," Kakuzu told him. "We're here for the seven tailed Jinchuriki, hand her over. And no one gets hurt…..much." Fu tensed making everyone glace at her.
"No way," Naruto said standing in front of Fu. "You jerks won't take any Jinchuriki while I'm around,"
"As much as I want to smack you right now dope, he's right," Sasuke said.
"Oh yeah," Daisuke said and Kakashi sighed and shook his head.
"Two S-rank rogue ninja and they still choose to fight. Got to admire their bravery…or stupidity," he thought.
"Oh goodie. I can sacrifice someone to Lord Jashin after all!" Hidan shouted madly licking his lips.
"Be careful, don't let them get you off guard," Kakashi warned his students who nodded.
