Daisuke, Naruto, Sasuke, and Fu behind them were looking at Hidan, who was cackling madly as he licked his lips. "Oh boy, I am going to have so much fun killing you brats," he told the two shinobi and kunoichi.
"Who is this guy?" Sasuke asked.
"I don't know," Naruto answered as Hidan held his tri-pronged scythe in his hand and hoisted it over his shoulder.
"Be careful you guys, we don't know what jutsu or what else he can do," Daisuke warned her team. She turned and looked at Fu. "Listen, Fu was it?" she asked and Fu nodded. "I need you to stay back, these two are after you, we can't fight and protect you," she told her.
"Then let her help," Naruto said and both Sasuke and Daisuke looked at him. "I mean, if we can't keep an eye on her while we fight maybe she could help us fight instead."
"But we don't know anything about her dope," Sasuke said.
"He's right," Daisuke said agreeing with Sasuke.
"Don't worry. I can handle myself in a fight, trust me," Fu told her, and Daisuke looked at her teammates who both nodded and she sighed.
"Alright, you can help, but hang back if things get ugly," she told Fu who nodded.
"Are you done talking!? It's time for me to kill you!" Hidan shouted, and he ran towards the four of them and swung his scythe at them. Naruto and Fu jumped back and Sasuke rolled to the side while Daisuke leaned back, just narrowly avoiding the scythe, so close she could feel the breeze made by the swing of the weapon.
Meanwhile Kakashi and Kakazu had moved to another area and were engaging in taijutsu.
"Kakashi Hatake, the only one outside the Uchiha clan to wield the Sharingan," Kakazu said. "I will enjoy collecting that bounty on your head."
"Well sorry, but that's not going to happen today," he replied as he kicked Kakazu in the chest, making him skid back. Kakazu threw his fist forwards which confused Kakashi...until he saw Kakazu's hand connected by threads shoot towards him, Kakashi jumped into the air and the fist smashed through a tree.
"What in the?" he asked himself. Kakashi pulled a kunai and cut the threads connecting the hand with the rest of Kakuza's body in an instant. "Not an effective tactic if your limbs can be severed so easily," he taunted Kakazu who chuckled. Kakashi was confused until he saw Kakuza's severed arm crawl towards its owner. Threads shot out and reattached the arm, leaving no visible remnant of the injury.
Kakuza blurred towards Kakashi and engaged him with a flurry of blows. Punches and kicks were quickly exchanged and the Leaf Jonin found himself slowly but surely pushed back by an opponent both stronger and faster than him. Sharingan spinning, Kakashi managed to push off of Kakuza and readied a jutsu. He only hoped that this would be an area where he outstripped his opponent.
Unfortunately, Kakazu reacted instantly. "WIND STYLE: DRILLING AIR BULLETS!" Kakazu shouted as he blazed through a few handsigns. He spat several spheres of compressed wind, each almost the size of Kakashi's torso. Knowing that it would be impossible to manoeuvre in the air sufficiently to dodge the incoming jutsu, he quickly substituted with a nearby log that was blown to splinters.
"That was too close," Kakashi thought as he looked out from behind a tree. "Just my luck that his ninjutsu is even better than his taijutsu. Guess I shouldn't have expected anything less from Akatsuki."
"I know you're there," Kakazu said coldly. He shrugged off his Akatsuki robe and to Kakashi's shock, two masks burst from his shoulders, a tiger-faced mask and strange on with blue markings. Their mouths opened. "This will flush you out! FIRE STYLE: SEARING MIGRAINE!" he shouted making a handsign and the demonic tiger spat an enormous fireball at Kakashi. "WIND STYLE: PRESSURE DAMAGE!" he then shouted, and the blue mask fired a condensed wind attack. It fused with the previous fire forming an immense firestorm that raged towards Kakashi.
The one eyed ninja ran off and tried to outrun the inferno, but it stayed right on his tail. Soon he was seemingly consumed and incinerated. Kakazu smirked as the inferno died down, but when it did he saw nothing, no burnt corpse of Kakashi among the ashes.
"Wh-ugh!" he said as a hand tore through his chest and Kakashi with his Sharingan eye visible was behind him and his hand was coursing with lightning. "How...?"
"Earlier I created a shadow clone and hid myself underground waiting for you to lower your guard. You didn't even notice that you were fighting a copy and now you're finished," Kakashi whispered pulling his hand out, and Kakazu fell to the ground. Kakashi walked off before he heard Kakazu laughing, and when he turned around he saw Kakazu standing up.
"Not many are able to kill one of my hearts," he said with some respect in his voice.
"Hearts? As in more than one?"
"Indeed," answered Kakazu as the demonic tiger mask burst from his body into a strange wire bipedal wire form as tall as Kakazu followed swiftly by the blue mask in the form of a twisted avian and even a third yellow marked mask in a tall and twisted avatar. Kakashi noticed absently that his blow had destroyed one of the masks on his back. Kakazu stood tall, surrounded by his heart monsters.
"So in order for me to defeat this guy, or injure him enough to make him retreat, I'll need to take out several of those masks. It's obvious those are where he has his hearts, and they can each use a separate chakra nature." He landed on the ground and weaved through handsigns. "EARTH STYLE: EARTH WALL JUTSU!" he shouted slamming his hands to the ground. A wall of earth rose up in front of Kakashi and he jumped onto the top of the wall. "FIRE STYLE: DRAGON FLAME BOMB!" he shouted, breathing a large dragon made of fire that flew towards Kakazu.
"WATER STYLE: WATER WALL!" Kakazu shouted weaving through handsigns. He spat a wall of water that surrounded Kakazu. The fire jutsu crashed into wall of water and evaporated the water at the cost of losing all its power. "LIGHTNING STYLE: FALSE DARKNESS!" Kakazu shouted and the yellow mask jumped into the air and opened its maw. It fired lighting in the shape of a spear which flew towards Kakashi. The man barely managed to jump off the wall as it was blown apart. Kakashi looked back and saw the creature open its mouth again, repeating the jutsu. This time the lightning came out in multiple spears and Kakashi knew he would have been skewered if it wasn't for his Sharingan allowing him to narrowly avoid each attack.
"WIND STYLE: GREAT BREAKTHROUGH!" Kakashi shouted, and breathed a large gust of wind towards the last lightning spear and it fizzled out. "I hope my team is doing okay," he thought with concern.
A short distance away, his team was fighting Hidan furiously. "Hold still you little punks!" Hidan shouted as he swung his scythe around trying to hit Daisuke, Sasuke, Naruto and Fu.
"So you can hit us with that thing?" Naruto asked him as he jumped back. "No thanks." The silver haired man was fast and more than once the team had only avoided injury thanks to the actions of the others.
"FIRE STYLE: FIREBALL JUTSU!" Sasuke shouted and he breathed a fireball towards Hidan who easily evaded the jutsu and sped towards Sasuke.
"WIND STYLE: AIR BULLETS!" Naruto shouted as he took a deep breath and he spat highly condensed projectiles of air towards Hidan. The man twisted under them without breaking stride, causing Sasuke to begin to back up uselessly. Grimacing, Daisuke flashed through handsigns and aimed for the space in front of Sasuke.
"FIRE STYLE: FIRE SHOT!" Daisuke shouted jumping into the air. She spat two fireballs towards Hidan that exploded in a blaze of fire and Hidan roared as he was burned.
"Is it over?" Naruto asked.
"I don't know," Daisuke conceded.
"We should be ready to fight," Sasuke began just as Hidan's scythe flew out attached to a cable and cut Daisuke on the arm. Naruto and Sasuke cried out in surprise.
"I'm alright. It's just a scratch," Daisuke told her team, they then heard Hidan chuckling manically.
"What?" Fu asked as the inferno died down and Hidan was standing there unharmed, only a few minor burns on his skin.
"How the heck did he survive that? Or at least without major burns on his body," Sasuke asked in bewilderment.
"I don't know," Daisuke replied.
"And now it is time for the ritual to commence," Hidan said. He drew a pike and impaled his hand, causing blood to splatter on the ground. He drew it into a symbol of a triangle in a circle, and his skin turned black and white, as if you could see his bones.
"Ritual?" Daisuke asked perplexed. She shook her head and she ran towards Hidan with a kunai drawn. Hidan swung his scythe lazily at her and she jumped over him. She threw her kunai and it hit Hidan in the shoulder, but he didn't react. A moment later Daisuke shouted in pain as a cut appeared on her shoulder. "What, how did I get injured and not him?" she asked herself mentally.
"Dai! What're you doing?" Naruto asked her.
"Pain is so good," Hidan purred.
"FIRE STYLE: FIREBALL JUTSU!" Sasuke shouted breathing a fireball towards Hidan.
"Sasuke! Stop your attack!" Daisuke shouted, but it was too late. The warning had caused Sasuke to flinch and instead of engulfing the Akatsuki member it burned his left arm. Daisuke screamed in pain as her own arm mirrored the injury.
"What the hell!?" Naruto shouted.
"How did she get burned!?" Sasuke cried out in confusion
"Isn't it obvious?" Fu asked. "He's somehow linking him and Daisuke so that whatever happens to him happens to her."
"But how do we stop it?" Naruto pleaded. Fu shrugged helplessly.
"I don't know, I've never heard of a jutsu like this. Normally I'd say it's limited by how much damage the user is willing to take, but he didn't really seem bothered by Sasuke's fireball while Daisuke isn't doing too well."
Hidan watched the panicked younger shinobi with an amused grin, and slowly raised his scythe to inflict a blow on himself.
"Stop him!" Sasuke yelled, but even as he and Naruto moved they both knew they would be too late. Fu narrowed her eyes.
"Leave that to me!" she exclaimed, and six wings sprouted out of her back, shocking the others.
"Chomei, always too trusting," Naruto heard the Kyuubi speak in his mind. He paused for a moment.
"What do you mean by that?" Naruto replied.
"Never mind now human, fight!" Kyuubi roared and Naruto grumbled, Fu flew towards Hidan as unexpected speeds and crashed into him. She captured him in a tight grip, utilizing both her normal arms and chakra wings to bind him in place.
"Figure out how to break this!" she shouted at the others as she wrestled with a furious Hidan. Daisuke stumbled back as if she had just gotten the breath knocked out of her, but was otherwise intact.
Team 7's mind raced, knowing they were on a major time limit. "Think," Daisuke thought. "Why me instead of the others? Coincidence? That's right; he swallowed some of my blood! So that's how he got the link, probably. But how should we end it?"
Sasuke's thoughts were taking a slightly different route. "He called this a ritual after drawing a symbol in the ground. Unless it was purely, well, symbolic, that might have something to do with the jutsu. Maybe if we can destroy the symbol the jutsu will end!" Aloud, he called out, "Try destroying the symbol, that might be enough to break the jutsu!"
Naruto nodded. "Hold on Fu! WIND STYLE: GREAT BREAKTHROUGH!" A roaring wind shredded apart both ground and blood symbol, and sent both Fu and Hidan flying. The silver haired man broke her loosened hold and landed shakily on his feet. Daisuke tossed an unexpected shuriken at Hidan who failed to stop it striking his already injured shoulder. To her pleasure, Daisuke did not feel the injury transfer over.
"Now we can take this bastard out," she said before weaving through handsigns. "WATER SYLE: EXPLODING WATER SHOCK WAVE!" she roared and she spat out a large wave of water from her mouth which raced towards Hidan. Hidan easily evaded the jutsu by racing into the trees, but the ground was now far too muddy for a clear symbol to be drawn. "Now what are you gonna do? You can't draw those circles anymore when the ground is covered by water," Daisuke taunted.
"That won't stop me from killing you!" Hidan roared, running across the muddy ground.
"Sasuke!" Daisuke shouted and her fellow Uchiha nodded. "Naruto," she then said and Naruto nodded as well.
"FIRE STYLE: FIREBALL JUTSU!" both Daisuke and Sasuke shouted and both breathed large fireballs towards Hidan.
"WIND STYLE: GREAT BREAKTHROUGH!" Naruto shouted breathing a large gust of wind and the two fireballs increased in size and intensity as it roared towards Hidan whose eyes widened.
"Oh shit!" he shouted. It was too late for him to dodge as he ploughed straight into the combined jutsu. The fire engulfed him and he roared in pain.
"We got him!" Naruto cheered and the water evaporated and when the smoke and steam blew away Hidan was still standing but his body was moderately burned. "Are you kidding me!?" Naruto shouted.
"That hurt you little bastards! Now I don't give a fuck if two of you are Jinchuriki, Jashin will have your blood!" he shouted, charging towards Sasuke. He swung his scythe around causing Sasuke to duck and flip backwards. It drew a bloody red line across Sasuke's cheek, but it appeared that Hidan had no intention of continuing his ritual even if he could.
"Dai!" he shouted.
"Right. Time to try this out," Daisuke said, weaving through handsigns. She finished with her hands in the Snake handsign and the nearby trees creaked and groaned to life. Branches shot towards Hidan who skidded to a stop and a look of astonishment crossed his face, though it did not stop him from nimbly avoiding the wooden assault.
"Wood style?" he asked. "How do you have that bloodline Uchiha?" Daisuke smirked.
"It's a secret."
"Daisuke, do you think you can hold him in place?" Naruto asked, and his teammate nodded. She concentrated and the branches raced towards Hidan who jumped over them or swung his scythe cutting the branches in pieces. Even as more and more branches joined the assault, Hidan vaulted off of the trees and onto the ground, using his scythe to slice apart anything he couldn't dodge. He actually charged at Daisuke before he was forced to duck as a glowing winged Fu barrelled towards him. The pause was all that Daisuke's branches needed. Two of them wrapped around his ankles and another two wrapped around his wrists. He growled and tried to break free.
"Damnit!" he shouted.
"Time to end this," Naruto said holding his hand out, and another clone appeared. A Rasengan formed in Naruto's hand before a deafening shriek was heard, the Rasengan suddenly glowed white and small blades appeared. "WIND STYLE: RASENGAN!" he shouted before running towards Hidan with his new offensive jutsu in his hand.
"Stay away!" he shouted.
"Eat this you freak!" Naruto roared as he neared Hidan. He ploughed the jutsu into Hidan's chest making him scream in pain, and he was thrown back like a pinwheel. The surrounding area was blown away due to the force of the winds.
"Whoa," Fu said in awe, Naruto panted and gasped as he held his hand to find it covered in cuts and bleeding profusely.
"Damn it," he said through gritted teeth as Kakazu landed in front of him, once again wearing his cloak.
"Hidan, did you really let these brats defeat you so easily?" he asked as Hidan, to the group's horror, slowly clambered to his feet, looking the worse for wear.
"Give me a break Kakazu, that Uchiha girl is somehow able to use Wood Style," he informed Kakazu who looked at Daisuke with intrigue.
"Is that so," he replied. "I'm done with the Jonin, so I can handle these brats." A moment later he appeared in front of Naruto in a burst of speed and kicked Naruto in the face, sending him flying back crashing into Sasuke and Fu. "Tell me how you can use Hashirama's bloodline child," he demanded as he walked towards Daisuke who backed up from him.
"Get away," she whispered.
"What?" he asked picking her up by her throat.
"I said...get...AWAY!" she screamed as her eyes turned into her Mangekyo Sharingan. Her Susanoo ribcage appeared as did the arms, and one punched Kakazu making him skid across the ground. Daisuke grunted in pain as she felt her whole body scream in agony. "RAWWWR!" she bellowed and the ribcage became more defined as did the two arms, two more skeleton arms appeared with audible cracks and a skull with glowing gold eyes appeared above Daisuke. It grew three horns, the top left arm and the bottom right arm suddenly held a long staff with a blade at the end...a naginata.
"The Susanoo!?" Kakazu shouted.
"Isn't that what Itachi can use?" Hidan asked struggling to his feet.
"Yes. This isn't worth it at the moment," Kakazu concluded. "We're leaving Hidan."
"Why?" Hidan asked.
"We weren't ordered to capture the Jinchuriki yet anyways, even if we won without further injury, the disappearance of the two would warn the nations of our targets and draw unneeded attention too quickly. We need to report back and inform the others of this," Kakazu said as he grabbed Hidan and disappeared in a swirl of wind. An injured Kakashi, panting and bleeding staggered onto the scene. He saw the Susanoo which receded and Daisuke groaned and collapsed due to exhaustion.
"Are you guys okay?" Kakashi asked them.
"That's our line. We're fine, but Dai's hurt. That Hidan guy did something and I don't know what," Naruto said and Kakashi ran over to Daisuke and noticed the burn and the cuts on her body.
"What do we do now?" Fu asked.
"We need to get Daisuke some medical treatment. And myself for that matter. Can you deliver this scroll to your leader?" Kakashi asked handing the scroll to Fu who took it and she nodded.
"I can. But I need to speak to your Hokage," she replied.
"Why?" Sasuke asked her.
"Well, the leader of my village thinks I will be better off in the Leaf Village then in Taki. We knew that there was a chance that I would be targeted by powerful forces and Taki doesn't need that kind of heat on it. I was ordered to head to Konoha if attacked. I was hoping to convince her to allow me to join," Fu explained.
"I see. Well that should be fine as long as you're telling the truth. Allow me to be the first to welcome you to the Leaf Village," Kakashi told her.
"Alright. Fu's coming back with us!" Naruto cheered.
"You don't even know her!" Sasuke told him.
"But I want to," Naruto replied, and Kakashi sighed as he scooped up Daisuke and walked off, the others following him.
