Chapter 6

Accidental Outing

By mid afternoon, the heat in whatever small city they were in now, was much hotter than any other that Sasuke had ever experienced in Konoha, and that was saying a lot. During the worst summers he spent most of the day hidden in his house with about ten fans blowing on him since he didn't have any airconditioning. He had always thought that kind of heat was awful, but this was ridiculous.

It was obvious that everyone else was having a hard time as well, especially Naruto considering he always walked around in that hideous jumpsuit of his. Yet, as much as Sasuke hated to admit it, Naruto managed to pull that choice of clothing off. He quickly made a noise at the back of his throat when he realized he was staring, and the Kyuubi vessel was staring at him with more confusion than ever.

He turned his head away so he was staring ahead of him, reminding himself of what exactly had occurred this morning. He had almost confessed his deep feelings to Naruto himself in the midst of a heated argument over something stupid, and ever since then he was sure that the blond has been trying to figure out what he had nearly said.

Either Naruto was really stupid, or he continued to deny the true conclusion he came up with, he still hadn't confronted Sasuke with embarrassment or anger, much as the Uchiha had expected to happen. Sakura had been managing to distract Naruto today as well, which Sasuke can only be thankful for today. Without her new clinginess to Naruto, Sasuke would have probably dealt with that confrontation already.

Recently, for the past couple of days at least, Sasuke had been keeping a closer eye on Amaye's shady sister, Akira. Since he had that dream about Naruto dying in his arms by the hand of Akira, he wanted to make sure the light purple haired girl didn't get too close to Naruto. Even if Sasuke was trying his best to move on from him at the moment, it didn't mean he couldn't be concerned and protective over him.

"Alright, listen up kids," Kakashi suddenly announced, his voice muffled through his dark mask as per usual. Though, this time, it seemed as if he was desperate to get out of the smothering thing. "We're going to stop here for now and get a room in that motel over there. It's too hot to continue on right now, and it's only going to get worse from here on out. We'll leave early in the morning when the temperature is at its coolest and hopefully we'll make it to the next town by noon."

"Thank goodness," Amaye sighed beside Sasuke as she stretched her arms above her head, adjusting her tight ponytail for the fifteenth time in the past hour and a half. "I'm pretty sure I'm about to melt from the heat." Naruto snorted from the other side of Amaye and smirked over at her with glinting blue eyes, mesmerizing Sasuke with the look for a moment. Oh, how he wished Naruto would look down at him like that after-. He cut himself off, feeling his cheeks flush due to where his thought process was currently headed.

"What's so funny over there, Naruto?" Amaye snapped to the kitsune, propping her small hands on her tiny hips, a pissed expression settling over her pretty features.

"Well, the comment just sounded a bit suggestive is all," Naruto admitted, scratching his scarred cheek sheepishly. Amaye flushed up to her ears in anger and growled, stomping off until she was behind Kakashi, who was still reading his stupid orange book.

"Stupid pervert!" She shouted over her shoulder, her fists shaking at her sides with every stride she took.

Sasuke raised a thin eyebrow at Amaye's reaction to Naruto's typical kind of perverted comment and he turned to look at him from the corner of his eye to see the blond's puzzled expression. "What did I do?" he whined childishly and pouted at Sasuke. "You better keep your girlfriend in check Sasuke. I think she's on her time of the month, if you know what I mean."

Sasuke rolled his eyes, though he was jumping up and down on the inside like a little kid on Christmas day because Naruto was still talking to him in a normal fashion. He had been fretting over absolutely nothing. "She isn't my girlfriend, baka. She is just a platonic friend. Besides, even if I was dating her, how stupid would that be? She's from an entirely different village, and a princess at that, who is already betrothed."

"Then who the hell is Kitsune, teme?" Naruto asked him angrily as they neared the run down looking motel. Stupid Kakashi and his cheapskate ways. "No girl in Konoha is named that, and even when you were gone with that creepy boy molester snake dude, you never once mentioned a girl with that name."

"Have you ever thought for a second with your tiny pea sized brain that it isn't a girl?" Sasuke asked, his irritation that had been bottled up for the past few days finally exploding in a completion of words that he really didn't want to come out. He watched as Naruto's eyes grew wide, and his heart constricted tightly in his chest in a blind panic.

"Shit," Sasuke hissed through clenched teeth and spun around on his heel to hurry up towards the motel so he could get away from Naruto and his inevitable judgement. "Just… just ignore that I ever said that," he said loud enough so Naruto could hear as he sped off.

"Sasuke's… gay?" Naruto asked to himself, a dazed expression on his handsome features as he tried to take in the newfound information. He chewed on his bottom lip, trying desperately to convince himself that his heart wasn't doing fucking backflips in his chest from excitement by the information. He did not like Sasuke in that way, and he never would in a million years!

Sasuke tossed his traveling bag on the bed in the room that Kakashi had, of course, paid for him and Naruto. He ran his hands through his hair, trying to calm the sizzling panic in his chest to die down. So, whatever. So what if Naruto knows that he's gay now? Nothing changes. Just that he's probably going to be scared to touch Sasuke or something in fear of catching his 'disease'.

"Fuck," he groaned loudly as soon as Naruto opened the door to the room with a slight hesitance. Sasuke turned to look at him over his shoulder, awaiting his doom of Naruto completely shaming him and telling him that he was disgusting and-.

"You know, I don't really give a shit who you bang," Naruto said casually with a shrug as he closed the door to their temporary room and turned to turn on the air conditioning unit. "Or if you're the pitcher or the catcher, if you catch my drift. And I guess I'm not all that surprised since you never accepted any girls advances towards you. I have caught you staring at a few guys asses though, so, ya know."

"So… in other words you don't care at all that I'm gay?" Sasuke asked almost timidly, lowering his arms back down to his sides as he awaited for Naruto's answer.

"Sasuke, you could start wearing a rainbow colored shirts, short shorts, and a fucking jockstrap and I wouldn't care," Naruto said with a roll his eyes. "But, if you started wearing a thong or something, then we might have to have a talk," he said with a laugh.

He watched as Sasuke grimaced at the entire description of things he would never ever wear and Naruto's laugh only grew. "See? Nothing's going to change between us. I'm going to stay an amazing ninja who will always be better than you and you're going to stay an asshole who always has a stick up his butt."

Naruto paused. "Or should I say a penis?" He asked with a shit eating smirk.

"What makes you think I'm bottom?" Sasuke asked, sincerely offended.

"Well, besides the facts that you kind of look like a chick and you have the word 'uke' in your name? Nothing really," Naruto said, his smirk never leaving.

"That's it," Sasuke said and started to advance towards the blond, ready to pound his face in. Even if he was still helplessly in love with him, and he was relieved that Naruto didn't give a rats ass that he was gay, it didn't mean he was going to take that kind of shit from him.

"Sasuke? Sasuke! Hang on a minute! We can talk this out!"

Bet you didn't see this one coming now did you? I wanted to at least try and finish it. Um, I apologize if any of the characters are OOC, but I haven't written about these two in a while because I've been kind of hooked on my Junjou Romantica fanfics. Anyway, hope you enjoyed regardless!
