The Plan: Part 2
"I will requite thee, taming my wild heart to thy loving hand."
"Friend Bee! You have come to assist me with my plan!"
In one fell swoop, Starfire wrapped her arms around the Titans East leader and gave her a bone crushing hug.
"My wings, my wings, Star!"
"Oh. Right!" Starfire quickly released Bee, who took a minute to catch her breath.
"So what are we doing again?"
Starfire had specifically called Bee in to help her with her plan and giving the girl a wide grin, Starfire simply led her into the kitchen. "You must simply do the playing along."
Not a second later, the door to the common room slid open and Raven walked through. She gave a friendly nod to both Starfire and Bee before settling down onto the couch and opening her book.
Starfire eyed the empath for a moment longer before grabbing her mug of mustard and taking a careful sip.
"Friend Bee, I did the talking with Beast Boy yesterday."
Starfire smirked. She didn't even have to be an empath to know that she had gotten Raven's attention.
Bee glanced over to Raven, who had straightened up and sat somewhat uncomfortably as she tried to look nonchalant.
"Oh really? What did you and Beast Boy talk about?"
Starfire suppressed a giggle and leaned forward as if to tell Bee a secret. Expect she purposely made her voice much louder than it usually was. "Friend Beast Boy confessed that he still hold the feelings for Raven!"
The very audible sound of breaking glass sounded in the hallway and both girls turned to face Raven. She was hiding her blush behind her large book while Starfire and Bee hid their smug grins.
"You know that she'd just shoot him down though. that girl don't know a good thing when it's starin' her in the face. Raven is going to be the death of that kid."
"And Friend Beast Boy is considered the hot, is he not?" Starfire giggled, taking a sip of her mustard.
Bee only nodded. "I'll admit, the kid's put on some muscle since I first knew him. And he's matured which is a miracle all in itself. I don't know what she's waiting for. Maybe another Terra to break his heart before she does."
Starfire giggled at Bee's dramatic eye roll, but before she could say anything else, a crack appeared in her mug and the sound of Raven slamming her book shut echoed in the common room. In silence, the empath floated back to her room, leaving Starfire and Bee in the kitchen. As soon as the door shut behind her, the two girls high-fived in the midst of their laughter.
Back in her room, Raven had thrown her book down onto her bed. She hadn't gotten to read any of it because she was too busy trying not to listen to Starfire and Bee. But she couldn't help herself.
Her light bulb flickered dangerously and Raven took a couple deeps breaths. She needed to calm down.
But she couldn't because Beast Boy still loved her.
The big "L" word that she had been too afraid to feel at the beginning of their relationship. And as for actually saying it? It had taken her weeks to muster up the courage to speak them out loud.
Knowing that he loved her changed everything and nothing all at the same time. How could she even approach him when he was the one who had dumped her?
But Raven couldn't seem to deny that what she felt for him now was eerily similar to what she felt for him three years ago. And that feeling happened to have a name that started with "L" and ended with "ove."
-Flashback-
"See? i told you it'd be a good one."
"Beast Boy, you could see that guy's eyes underneath his alien costume."
Raven arched one rounded eyebrow at her boyfriend, watching as his smile somehow grew instead of faded. He simply tightened his arms around her, pulling her farther up onto his lap.
Raven's lips turned up into a soft barely-there smile as he nuzzled her neck and then planted a kiss on her shoulder.
"You're such a downer Rae! C'mon, at least the acting was good."
She couldn't help but chuckle at his unwavering enthusiasm, so Raven decided to oblige him just this once.
"Alright, alright. I'll give you that."
His entire face lit up and Raven could just see affection doing cartwheels inside of her mind. It was times like these that she realized just how much she meant to him.
Truth be told, she didn't think she deserved him. How could someone as happy and bright as he was possibly be in love with someone as stoic and dark as her? But somehow, it worked. And Raven wouldn't trade him and the happiness he gave her for anything in the world.
Suddenly, she yawned and Beast Boy's quiet chuckle sounded from behind her.
"Time for bed?"
Raven only nodded.
Gently, Beast Boy slid his arms under her and picked her up, cradling her against his chest as he carried her to their room. Raven had long since stopped complaining about him carrying her and instead, allowed it only on movie nights.
He set her down onto the soft sheets of their queen sized bed, crawling in beside her and taking her into his arms again.
"Night Rae," He murmured contently against her forehead. "Love you."
"Goodnight Garfield. I love you too."
In the dark, Raven could feel the warmth of his body as it curled around hers and soon, the rhythmic beat of his heart gently lulled her into sleep.
The next thing Raven knew, he was gently shaking her awake. She could hear his voice, sotto voce, shattering their blissful silence with only five simple words.
"Rae, we need to talk."
