Chapter 10-Rising Darkness
Fang was suspicious as to why the widow suddenly wanted to help them. He took caution with the strange, glowing green potion in his hand.
"Almost back to the ship." Wolfy said.
"Get there as quick as you can. I have a strange feeling about this thing." Fang said back, looking, examining the small bottle.
The widow was done with the Foxy doll. Then, she made one of Fang. She began weaving the cloth and the clay together. She had taken a small drop of Fang's blood when he was knocked out while healing. She had it in a small, thin vile. She opened it. She put the drop on the heart.
"AGH!" Fang yelped. The crew turned to see him clutching his heart.
"Capt, what happened?" Steel asked.
"I don't know, I just felt a pain." Fang said. He suddenly thought of the widow.
She sighed. Now that she had binded the doll to Fang's soul, she could test him.
"Now, we'll see what his breaking point is. Wouldn't ya say Tangle?" she said speaking to her small parrot. The parrot bounced its head up and down and squawking. The widow had a maniacal giggle after.
"Let's try this first." She said.
"Besides, he's a crucial part in being the Darkness."
Fang felt a burning pain his shoulder. But he ignored it. It felt overwhelming. But still it didn't bother him all too much. However, the next thing did.
"ARGH! AGH! UGH!" Fang fell to the floor of the boat. Something was tearing at his chest, sering pain.
"That widow must be screwing around with me. She must have made a doll." Fang was able to say. By then, they were at the ship.
She was carving something on the doll with a small needle. Then after a few strokes, she stopped.
"Now, we wait Tangle." she said. Her parrot seemed to laugh too, in the same manner as the widow.
Fang now was able to climb the rope and onto his ship.
"I got ya capt." Sparky said as he helped Fang back onto his ship.
"Thank ye Spark. I feel a pain on me chest." Fang said. He undid his robe jacket. There, in the center of his chest, a symbol, it had been carved there.
X
"What has that witch been doing?" Fang asked himself, angry at the widow.
"It's a X. Why X?" Steel asked himself. Fang quickly covered it back up.
"Never mind that. Get back to the main objective." Fang ordered.
"What are you doing to our capt widow." Sparky whispered. Sparky had a worried look. The first time he'd ever really done that.
"Capt!" Wolfy yelled back as Fang went began going into captains quarters.
"What?" Fang said back stepping back from the door looking at Wolfy.
"That X, I remember one of my old friends telling me about that symbol. It had something to do with witchcraft." Wolfy said. Fang shot him a annoyed look.
"Ya think I don't know what witchcraft is?" Fang said going into quarters. Wolfy stood there dumbfounded. Fang had never spoke like that to his crew. He looked at Sparky and Steel who also had the same concern.
"Maybe that witch friend of yours has 'poisoned' him." Steel said looking at Sparky. Sparky looked down confused. He knew that widow for so long. He never thought that she would hurt him or his friends. She even told him that. Yet, Fang has showed different.
They were sailing now. Wolfy at the wheel, Steel beside him. Sparky was asleep. Fang, was in his quarters. Fang held his head, eyes closed. His head hurt. He couldn't figure out why.
"What has happened? What has that witch done?" Fang asked himself. He wasn't expecting an answer.
"You've done this to yourself-" Fang shot up, looking into the eyes of, Goldie?
"-Everything, you've done to yourself." the phantom Goldie said. He appeared burnt. Why?
"Why are you here? How'd did ya get here?" Fang said. The pain in his head getting worse.
"To warn you. You, are in grave danger." the phantom Goldie said. Suddenly Fang began chuckling. Then mad laughter.
"Warning, from a dead man-" Fang continued to laugh at him,"-You don't know me." Fang shot back.
"I do now. A mad wolf who can't be tamed." phantom Goldie said.
"That witch. She has cursed you." phantom Goldie said. Fang got angrier.
"Cursed, you're thee one who is cursed." Fang said. The pain was madding him.
"Fang, you've got to pay for the crimes you've committed." Goldie said.
"No, no no no-" Fang said, large, mad smile across his face still laughing,"-You already have." Fang said, beginning to lose consciousness. He looked at his hand, it looked like it was rotting.
"You're going to turn. Turn into a savage animal. Your doing." Goldie said.
"No, I'll kill you all. I'll come back, I...always...do." Fang fell over cold.
"You have no idea what you've become." phantom Goldie said, fading away.
Sparky awoke to a loud thud. It was night. Sparky suddenly thought of Fang. He got up from his resting place, only to see Steel was dead. Wolfy was nowhere. But Steel lay there, head severed and gone. It made Sparky sick. Then, a sudden raddle of fast footsteps. Wolfy came up and spoke quickly.
"Come on, we need to get off! Fang, I trapped him but he'll break through eventually." Sparky didn't question it. They loaded the boat into the water and began rowing. Then, in the bright moonlight, they saw a shadow, a figure. It was, undead-like. In one of it's hand, in it's grasp, was Steel's head.
The witch had made their captain, a real monster.
