A/N 6/12/15: I just found this one in the same booklet of the other two poems...

This was supposed to be a "personification poem", giving human-like traits to an inanimate object. So... Shoes? XD I think the rhythm is a little bit off, but um... I hope you enjoy... and if it's just plain weird, that's cool too. XD

Thoughts of a Shoe

Do you recall the day

When inside the box I lay?

Little did I know

What greatness you'd show

When I would be yours to stay.

Blue hedgehog.

I knew you'd be an athlete

The moment that I hugged your feet

But certainly not

I'd never have thought

That you could never be beat.

Runner extraordinaire.

Every day, in snow or in dirt

My fabric you'd stretch and exert

But the joy on your face

Could not be replaced

No matter how much it hurt.

Eyes twinkling like lights.

We went so many places

Encountered all sorts of faces

The good, the bad

And the just plain sad

And went on wild goose chases.

You're pretty crazy.

At first I was shocked

By the hours you clocked

How you could almost fly

And how hard you'd still try

Even when all efforts were blocked.

But that's what makes you cool.

I came to know your moods, one and all

"I'm going out" - and that was my call

If happy, you'd dance

If tense, take a stance

Or angry, throw me at the wall.

Our walks were runs.

Not just adventure and fun

Not just sprints in the sun

No matter what pain

In spite of the rain

You'd pick me up and we would run.

You are mine.

Together a formidable tower

I was rumored to give you power

No way we could lose

At the speed we could cruise

Seven hundred miles an hour.

And I am yours.

A hero's burden is heavy, not light

Still you defended what you thought was right

No such a cause

No matter your flaws

Saw a hero with such prowess and might.

I wouldn't trade for another.

So though others are seated on a pedestal high

If I was alive, I'd rather die

Though very well used

And thoroughly abused

No shoes could be happier than I.

Thank you, Sonic.
