"What do you think of this dress, Nassy?" Mimi asked as she grabbed a golden dress from her wardrobe. "Do you think Dimentio would like me in this? Or maybe I should go with the purple one…Dimentio likes the color purple, doesn't he?"

Nastasia gave a bored look, as she watched Mimi pick out dresses. She let out a heavy sigh.

"Yeah, Mimi? I think you're like making this a bigger deal then it is."

Mimi walked over to a nearby mirror; study her reflection with the golden dress over her.

"Haven't you ever been on a date before? Appearance is everything! I have to look impressive, I need to look cute!"

Nastasia rolled her eyes.

Why Mimi had asked her for fashion advice, she will never know.

"Though you two should really be training to fight Mario, I am glad that you are finally going out," Nastasia said with a smile. "Honestly, I would have thought you two would have done it sooner."

Mimi blinked.

"What do you mean?"

Nastasia gave a small chuckle.

"With you always trying to get his attention and you being the only person Dimentio really talks to, I would have thought you guys would have gotten together months ago. But, then again, it isn't my business."

Mimi sat down the dress.

"Like you and Count Bleck?"

Nastasia's eyes widened.

"W-what about the count and I?"

"That you haven't acted on your feelings for him," Mimi answered. "I can see the longing look in your eyes. You want to be with him, don't you?"

A faint blush appeared on Nastasia's face. She looked down at the ground, shifting her glasses.

"…It is true I love the count. I love Bleck with all my heart, as I can never repay him for what he has done for me. But, he could never love me. This is how close I can get to him, and that's just it."

Nastasia's voice cracked as she talked, as if it hurt her to think about it. Mimi gave her a sympathetic look.

"Wow, I'm sorry Nassy. I didn't mean to make you feel bad."

"Don't be. I don't wish to be pitied."

"I'm not pitting you…however, if it makes you feel better, O'Chunks has been…watching you for awhile."

Nastasia turned to Mimi.

"O'Chunks?"

"Yes," Mimi said with a smile. "Haven't you noticed he's really fond of you?"

"I thought he just liked my cooking. That's all I've heard him talk about."

Mimi rolled her eyes.

"That doofus would say something like that… But, seriously, he has talked to me about you and how he wasn't sure how to approach you. I think you should give him a chance. He really does like you."

Nastasia sighed heavily.

"If I have the time. The count is my first priority. But I'll…give it some thought, k?"

Mimi smiled in reply and continued to sort out her dresses.

"By the way, Mimi, when are you and Dimentio leaving for your date?" Nastasia suddenly asked.

"We will be leaving around seven," Mimi answered. "He wanted to leave while you are all at dinner. For whatever reason…he doesn't want anyone to know that we are going out."

Nastasia raised an eyebrow.

"Why not?"

Mimi shrugged.

"I don't know. I guess he doesn't want rumors going around."

"That's…really strange. I mean, it's just us."

"Yeah, I know."

Mimi let out a dreamy sigh.

"But...him being so mysterious adds to his charm!"

Dimentio slowly walked down the stairs to the garden. He was deep in thought, as he knew that this night will prove much. He admitted he was surprised when Mimi had asked him out. It was the last thing he expected to hear, considering how close she had gotten to Mr. L. But, for some reason, a part of him was happy that she had comforted him. It was like she truly did care about him, about his feelings.

As Dimentio arrived at the bottom of the stairs, he saw Mr. L quickly sprint to the front door. Dimentio smiled.

"Going somewhere, Mr. L?"

Mr. L jumped, but didn't turn to face Dimentio.

"Uh…yes. Count Bleck had just told me Mario is on the move again. I'm going after him."

"Ah, I wish you luck then," Dimentio replied. "Though do be careful, my friend. I would hate to see you get hurt."

Mr. L glared at him.

"Yeah, you would."

Dimentio smiled.

"Tell Mario I said hello. Ciao."

With a small laugh, Dimentio walked away.

When he arrived at the garden, and to his surprise, Mimi was already there waiting for him. She was sitting on water fountain's edge, her fingers tapping the water's surface. She was wearing a purple and golden dress, it's long fabric flowing over her perfectly. Dimentio walked up to her and smiled.

"I…didn't think you would get that dressed up. Compared to you, I look horrid."

Mimi smiled and blushed.

"Well, I'm glad you like it. It took me two hours to choose it, so you better appreciate the effort I put into this!"

Dimentio chuckled.

"It is lovely, bellezza. In fact, where I decided for us to go, it shall be perfect."

Taking her hand, Dimentio snapped his fingers and they disappeared. They then reappeared in front of a medieval castle. There were bright lights coming from inside it, as horse drawn carriages dropped off people in masquerade outfits. Mimi gasped.

"Are we going to a masquerade party?"

Dimentio nodded.

"Yes. From what I learned, this is one of the biggest parties in this dimension. There will be fine food and drink, along with some dancing. What do you think?"

"It sounds like fun!" Mimi exclaimed. "I've never been to a fancy party like this before. My father threw a few of these before, but I never was allowed to come. I was too young, so my sisters would say."

"Well, let me make your first masquerade party the greatest party you have ever been to."

Opening up his hand, Dimentio used his magic to create a golden masquerade mask with purple lace attached to it. He offered it to Mimi.

"For you."

Mimi giggled and put on the mask. She smiled, as she was almost unrecognizable with it on.

Taking his arm, Dimentio teleported them inside the castle. They entered the ballroom, where everyone was dancing, talking, or just hanging around the buffet tables. Mimi's eyes widened in amazement as she wondered off towards the large buffet. Dimentio followed her, amused slightly by her bewilderment. At the end table, there was a large section of drinks. One of them was a pure dark red liquid, in a very small, clear glass. Mimi picked it up and studied it.

"Dimentio, what kind of drink is this?" she asked.

"That is wine, my dear," Dimentio answered. "It's an alcoholic drink with a very strong bitter taste. It's…kind of like a shroom shake, in a way."

"I see…"

Mimi took a sip of the wine. Her eyes widened at the taste and quickly backed away. She licked her lips.

"Wow…that stuff is strong! But…I like it."

Dimentio laughed as she took another sip.

"Be careful though. Too much of that alcohol can be bad for you. You could get drunk."

Mimi rolled her eyes.

"Okay, I'll keep that in thought."

Mimi took another full glass of wine, Dimentio taking one as well. They walked around the ballroom, studying the golden brick architecture of the castle and comparing it to the black marble of Castle Bleck. When both of them had finished their glasses, Dimentio sat them down and offer his hand to Mimi.

"Care to dance, bellezza?"

Mimi smiled. "Of course!"

Dimentio smiled back and lead her to the dance floor. Once they were in a good spot, Dimentio put his arm around Mimi's waist and lead her in a waltz. Dimentio's footsteps matched up with the music, moving to the melody perfectly. Mimi, however, was having a harder time following. She kept messing up, even stepping on Dimentio's foot a couple of times. She looked nervious, obviously embarrassed. Dimentio gave a reassuring smile.

"It's alright, you're doing fine," he said softly. "Nobody is watching us."

Mimi gave an awkward smile but eventually got the hang of it. After awhile of dancing, Mimi finally became comfortable, her eyes never leaving Dimentio's.

She sighed.

"You really have out done yourself, Dimentio. You chose a great place."

"I'm glad you think that," Dimentio replied. "I wanted to make sure we had a nice place to ourselves."

"But, why did you wanted to be so secretive about it? I'm sure Count Bleck has noticed our absence. I never told him."

"He probably has, but don't worry. He may be our boss, but he doesn't have the right to know everything that happens in our lives."

"I…guess you're right. After all, we are technically alone…"

Mimi then touched Dimentio's mask, her fingers slowly sliding down to it's edge. Dimentio's eyes widened.

"What are you doing?" he questioned, as he gently took her hand away from his face.

Mimi giggled, hiccuping a tiny bit.

"Taking off your mask, silly."

"Didn't I tell you I can't show you my face?"

"Yes, I know...but how else am I going to kiss you?"

Intense heat went through Dimentio's body. He blinked several times, as if what Mimi had said hadn't quite sunk in. Dimentio smiled and gave an uncomfortable laugh.

"I...uh...think that's enough dancing for now."

Mimi gave a confused look as Dimentio led her away from the dance floor. She looked like she wanted to protest, but she didn't say anything. In fact, her eyes seem like they were going distant.

The alcohol in that wine must be very strong for it to be affecting her mind already.

"Here, Mimi," Dimentio said, setting her down in a nearby chair. "Why don't you wait here and I'll get you something to drink."

"Like another glass of...whatever you told me it was..."

"No, my dear. I think you've had enough for one night. I'll be back soon, I promise."

Mimi smiled, slouching back into the chair.

"Okay...don't be long..."

Dimentio nodded and quickly walked away. He made his way to the buffet table and looked for a glass of water. But all he could find was different types of wine, nothing that could ease Mimi in her drunken state. In fact, one type of wine stood out among the others.

It was a special type of wine that was as clear as water, but had a magnificent taste, of course the taste being different to whoever consumed it. But it is very rare, and can be easily be addictive. Dimentio picked up a glass and studied it.

Strange...I haven't seen this in a long time. In fact, this wine was a favorite of-

"May I have your attention please!"

All movement of the party came to a halt as everyone glanced up to an old man standing over a small balcony. The old count cleared his throat.

"Before I play the last song of the evening, I would like to thank everyone of you for coming tonight in honor of the long lost countess. For it brings me great joy to see that everyone still remembers and loves her just as much as I do."

Everyone nodded in agreement, commenting to themselves. Dimentio stared up at him.

What is he talking about? I never saw a note or heard anything special about this party when I checked it out.

"And so, without further ado, I will play my daughter's favorite song. Her mother would play it for her all the time, and so in honor of her memory, I play that song."

He raised his wine glass.

"To my daughter, Countess Timpani. May she rest in peace!"

Everyone raised their wine glass in response.

"May she rest in peace!"

Dimentio gasped.

The party resumed again, as a beautiful piano piece started to play. It was very soft, almost being impossible to hear. But the music grew faintly louder and louder with every note, until around the one minute mark, were the graceful, hopeful sounding music was at it's peak. It had a beautiful harmony to it, making every worry in the world just fade away.

Dimentio tried to block the beautiful music. He had to get out of here! He had to get out of here before...

Mimi must never know!

As calmly and quickly as he could, Dimentio made his way back to Mimi. To his relief, she was still where he had left her. But she was talking to another woman, and they seemed to be in a deep conversation.

"...And then the fire happened," the woman was saying when Dimentio got into earshot. "No one knows how it started, but after that Lady Timpani was never seen or heard from again. Not even a body could be found. It was a dark time for the kingdom, to say the least."

"That is awful," Mimi replied, sounding more drunk then before. "Did anyone else disappear too?"

The woman paused.

"...Well yes, there was one other...but no one talks about him much..."

She hiccuped.

"For most of her life, Lady Timpani grew up being separated from everyone else. She didn't have a lot of friends her age to hang out with, so she was quite lonely. However, she did have one friend who disappeared with her. One of the jesters, who happened to be a magician, worked for the count had a younger son. And when the night of the fire happened, he was never found either. No one talks about it...for many reasons which I don't think foreigners need to know."

"...Why, what was the young jester's name?"

"Ah, Mimi."

Both the woman and Mimi turned to Dimentio, now noticing he was there.

"I think we should go, bellezza," Dimentio said, though it sounded almost like an order. "It is getting late."

"But I'm learning about the history of the castle!" Mimi exclaimed. "Well, the castle before it, as it was burned down many years ago. Can we stay for five more minutes?"

"No, now come on."

"But-"

Dimentio then took her hand and dragged Mimi out her chair. He led her to the other end of the ballroom, where no one was watching. He then teleported to the first place that came to his mind, a place that he could truly be alone with Mimi.

Once they arrived at their destination, Mimi fell to her knees, being so drunk it was hard to stand. She looked around her, seeing that she was standing on a pure green field and green sky. She blinked, looking confused.

"Where...where are we?"

"We are in a land of my own creation," Dimentio answered, sitting next to her. "It is a mini dimension called Dimension D."

"...Why is everything green?"

"I...honestly don't know. It...was created that way."

"Your own dimension and you can't control what color it is?"

"Well, it used to be mostly black, but now it has turned green."

"It changes colors?"

"I'm working on the details. It is my own creation, so maybe it has something to do with my personality or thoughts."

Mimi shrugged her shoulders in reply.

Letting out a small yawn, she took off her mask and laid her head on Dimentio's shoulder. She closed her eyes and let out a dreamy sigh.

"...I had a lot of fun tonight," Mimi said softly. "Even though my stomach hurts like hell... Err...what did I eat?"

"It's the alcohol from the wine you drank. It must be too strong for your body to handle, as I assume you haven't drank a lot of wine before. Here, lay down."

Dimentio gently made Mimi lay down beside him. As she got comfortable, he stroked her hair gingerly and asked, "Does that help at all?"

Mimi nodded sleepily.

"A bit." She sighed. "But...I think I may fall asleep."

"That's okay," Dimentio replied softly. "Relax and try to get some rest. I will watch over you and will take you back home if needed."

Mimi smiled, gently stroking his mask.

"Thanks...Dimentio..."

She then pulled her hand away, closing her eyes. Dimentio watched her silently, making sure nothing disturbed her. Soon, Mimi fell into a deep sleep. Dimentio smiled slightly.

And now our night together has come to a close.

He slowly picked Mimi up, being careful not to disturb her. He snapped his fingers and teleported to Mimi's room. Once they where there, Dimentio gingerly placed Mimi on her bed, tucking her under the covers. Mimi continued to sleep soundly, as not even the sound of the world being destroyed could wake her.

Dimentio smiled and was about to leave the room, when he then noticed a small book on Mimi's nightstand. Curious, he picked up and noticed the cover said, "Mimi's Diary."

Ah, so careless to leave an important journal like this out in the open. I don't like to intrude on personal affairs but...

Glancing over to make sure Mimi was completely unconscious, Dimentio opened the diary. He skimmed most of it, as the first half of the book talked about Mimi's life at home. It didn't interest him that much, as Mimi told him about her past. Though, the section about her sister transforming into the spider creature to scare her did make him feel concern. Who scares their own sibling like that? What an awful person! Soon, Dimentio got to section where it talked about Mimi's arrival at Castle Bleck.

Dear Diary,

Today I arrived at Castle Bleck, just like I told you I would. I admit, it wasn't what I expected. The whole castle is so dark and cold, it reminds me a bit of home. Only I didn't have father to look after me. Though the castle is confusing to navigate, I did meet some new people. My coworker, O'Chunks is pretty nice, but a complete doofus! I swear, he couldn't figure out what 2+2 is! Nastasia apparently has worked here for a long time, though I don't really like her. I don't why, maybe it's her voice or the way she dresses, IDK. Count Bleck is...cool I guess. He seems nice from what I've seen at dinner, but we'll just have to see what happens. And then there is my other coworker, Dimentio. The 'master of dimensions and pleaser of crowds,' as he calls himself. OMG, you can't imagine how cool he is! He's mysterious, polite, listens to me, good looking, poetic... He's such a dream boat! I kind of messed up with our first conversation...but I'll make it better, I promise you! I'm still not sure about this Castle Bleck thing...but at least I have found a reason to stay. Talk to you tomorrow.

Love, Mimikins

That entry alone was enough to make Dimentio blush. Every entry after that was mostly about him, Mimi describing him in great detail and how amazing he was.

I...I knew Mimi had a crush on me, I knew she adored me, but I could never guessed it was...

And then, he got to the sections about him being difficult, and Mimi ranted how frustrated she was and how she was using Mr. L to make him jealous. Again, Dimentio was amazed how emotional she was about it. Finally, he got to the last entry.

Dear Diary,

OMG, I am going on a date with Dimentio! *squeals* I can't believe it, I'm so excited! I was afraid that Dimentio would be mad at me with Mr. L and stuff...but I guess he is over it! However I have to be careful. Mr. L said that the reason Dimentio was avoiding me was because of bad experiences with dating. Maybe that's why he doesn't want me to mention that Timpani person? Honestly, if I find that girl I would kill her! Who would hurt someone as handsome and amazing as Dimentio? Ugh, I hate her so much! Well...I better get some sleep. It will be a long night tomorrow. I will give you all the details in the morning. OMG, I can't wait!

Love, Mimikins

Dimentio closed the book, Mimi's words repeating over and over again in his head. He placed the diary back where he found it and gazed down at Mimi, who was unaware that the man she adored knew all of her most private of thoughts.

Dimentio, for once in his life, was completely speechless. He couldn't make a clever comment or remark, nothing.

This...truly effected him.

And now he was certain of one thing, one thing that he knew he could no longer deny or change.

He quietly snapped his fingers to close Mimi's window curtain, making the room pitch black.

"...Mimi, you truly believe that I am handsome, that I am a perfect being," Dimentio whispered in Italian. "You, bellezza, think that nothing can make you hate me. Well, you are wrong. For when I betray Count Bleck, for when you realize that I have used you in the past, when you finally see my face, you will despise my utter soul.

"After Lady Timpani, I have taught myself to never love or feeling emotion to or for anything again. Because I hated what these worlds have done to me and I wished to end my suffering. But...apparently I have not reached that level of perfection. For you, like a siren, distracted me from my goal. My perfection. I have denied my...growing feelings, because I didn't want any interference. But now I know I can't, for I will lose my entire sanity if I lose you like I lost my lady. For I, Mimi, my beautiful..."

With much emotion, Dimentio slowly took off his mask. Slowly, he leaned down and put his face close to Mimi's. With a tiny bit of hesitation, and even fear, he gave a small kiss. A small tear went down his face as he reluctantly backed away.

"...For I love you."
