Chapter 11: New Bonds
In the small kitchen of the Kuroko Manor, Momoi Satsuki was preparing her care's breakfast. It was a simple Japanese breakfast, the meal had enough nutrients for the blunette for the day. Deeming the table setting alright, she put the utensils she had used on the sink before looking at the wall clock.
It was already 7 o'clock in the morning yet her beloved young master was nowhere in sight. Usually, the blunette would already be up and awake before 7. Momoi was about to exit the kitchen to check on Kuroko when the door slowly opened.
"Good morning, Momoi-san."
"Tetsu-bocchan!" the head maid exclaims, clearly surprised by the other's sudden appearance. "Good morning~" she adds.
"Your breakfast has been prepared." she informs
"Thank you." the blunette replieds as he settles down on his usual spot.
He took the pair of chopsticks laid beside the bowl of rice and gave his thanks for the food before taking small bites of the fish and steamed vegetables. Momoi was silently watching him, waiting for a reaction.
"It's good." he mumbles, but enough for the other to hear.
Momoi nodded in satisfaction and proceeded to wash the utensils she had used. After doing so, she took out a teacup from the cupboard and poured a significant amount of freshly boiled tea in it.
"You seem to have woken up later than usual." Momoi comments as she places the tea beside the eating blunette
"I had trouble with my bed-hair." he explains. His eyebrows fringed, not wanting to remember the hardships he went through to tame it. Momoi giggles on the other's antics.
After eating half of the rice in his bowl, he set down his chopsticks and once again thanked Momoi for the food.
"Oh by the way; Tetsu-bocchan, your father said that you should drop by his study after you finish your breakfast." she informs the blunette who was currently sipping on his warm tea.
Kuroko sets his cup down before giving a nod. He stood up and bid his personal maid a "See you later."
A couple of knocks resounded the large mahogany door of the head of the household's study room. The occupant of the room, engrossed in paper work, prompted the person to come inside.
"You called, father?"
"Good morning, Tetsuya." the older male greets ignoring his paper work for a while to face the other
"Good morning, father." Tetsuya smiles
"Did you rest enough?"
"Yes," he assures "I'm okay now."
"That's good to hear; but, are you sure that you are alright with resuming to your studies."
"Of course, don't worry. I have to catch up on my lessons."
"Very well, if that's what you want."
"Thank you."
"Just don't overdo it."
"I wont."
Tetsuya's father nods in approval before dismissing him. The blunette was about to exit the room when his father called his attention once again.
"Tetsuya, another thing; Araki-sensei is currently out of town, so she wouldn't be able to handle your piano lesson. In the meantime, I have prepared a substitute tutor instead. Would that be alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine with it. Thank you, father."
"Good job, Kuroko-kun. Despite what happened you still managed to cope up with our lessons." a short-haired brunette praises as she checks Kuroko's answers.
"But I don't want you pushing yourself, so just tell me if you're not feeling well." she adds
"Thank you. I'm fine, Riko-sensei."
"Okay then, let's proceed to your next lesson then."
Aida Riko is one of Momoi's colleagues, Momoi had recommended her to Kuroko's father, in which he did not doubt for he knows that Momoi only wants the best for her care. Riko is Kuroko's best tutor by far, he admits. The blunette's studying habits have improved greatly. Despite being a spartan teacher, she is kind and understanding.
"Hai." Kuroko answers with a ghost of a smile plastered on his lips
Kuroko sighed in relief as his fourth subject for the day ended. He did not particularly like Math and he was glad that it was over with. His Math tutor, Shun Izuki, had left a few minutes ago. He arranged his notebooks and pencils before walking out of the library.
His next destination was the music room, where his piano lessons await.
"Oh yeah, father did mention about a substitute tutor." he muses
When he arrived outside the music room, he could hear the faint clinks of piano keys. Kuroko concluded that his tutor had arrived and must be testing out the keys.
He knocked twice before entering the room; and there, he saw a person standing in front of the grand piano in his regal presence.
"Akashi-kun?!" he exclaimed, almost dropping his notebooks on the marble floor
"Hello, Tetsuya." he greets
"H-hello. Err... Wh-what are you doing here?" he asks as his impassive face crumbling in confusion
"I believe you should address me as 'Sensei'."
The redhead tyrant was now wearing his infamous smirk.
Oh dear.
"Tetsuya, how many times do I have to teach you. You have to hold down the sustain pedal as you play, or else the tone would not perpetuate." the redhead scolds but you could sense a hint of playfulness in his words
"I-I know, Akashi-ku-"
"Sensei." he corrects "Now continue. Play the key of D major."
The blunette moves his fingers as he carefully played the piece, but once again presses the wrong key.
"Tetsuya," he breathes. "Are you even paying attention? It should be like this..." the taller male emphasizes as he plays the correct melody.
The redhead's arms were on both sides of the blunette. His head almost perched on the smaller male's shoulder, his breath tickling the other's ears when he speaks. His chest was pressed on the blunette's back as he moves his skilled fingers, all the while, brushing with the other's hands.
It had been like this for a while now.
"A-Akashi-sensei, how could I possibly concentrate...?"
The redhead tilts his head, clearly feigning ignorance.
"Could you shift your position? I believe that it shouldn't be like this." Kuroko reasons
"How so? I do think you'd be able to see it clearly if it's like this." he countered
"Well, I can't move properly.''
The two emerged in to a staring contest, before the redhead closed his eyes and removed himself; albeit reluctantly, to the blunette.
"Fine."
The blunette sighs in relief.
The lesson continued for another half an hour. Kuroko was not himself, he concluded. Usually, he'd be better than this, but he kept making mistakes. He could feel heterochromatic eyes boring into his back, he could not keep his cheeks from burning and he felt his hands slowly becoming sweaty. It was probably one of the most excruciating moments of his life; the first is being a hostage. But of course, being the impassive male he is, he kept his facial expression inscrutable.
When Kuroko requested for a toilet break, he only did so much as drown his face in the sink just so he would calm down. It worked, probably. He was feeling more relaxed compared earlier. After a minute or two, he returned to the music room only to see his tutor playing a piece.
Fingers elegantly traveled from key to key. The once redhead tyrant looked so peaceful that he could not believe that this man is the feared leader of a group of infamous kidnappers.
The beautiful song resounded the room as the sunlight touched just the right places that added to the aesthetic of the sight.
It was the epitome of sophistication.
The blunette snapped out of his thoughts and slowly made his way to the redhead.
"'Clair de Lune', it's a beautiful piece." the blunette remarks in hushed words
"Care to join me?" the other simply smiles as his fingers stopped from playing
The blunette sat beside the redhead and started playing a different piece. It was different from Akashi's, it had a buoyant tune compared to he redhead's schmaltzy piece.
"'Waltz'?" the redhead chuckles as he joins the other, eventually enjoying the lively melody
Kuroko only smiles as a reply.
Despite that no words were uttered, the other acknowledges the answer; and he too, found himself smiling.
The two males continuously played in silence. Their eyes glowing, hinting that they were enjoying their duet.
Both of them knew that this was a silence that they found comfort in.
This was a start.
*Clair de Lune - The third and most famous movement of Suite bergamasque (piano suites by Claude Debussy) meaning "moonlight" in French
*Waltz - a piece by Frederic Chopin
Gyagyagya-! I tried to not make it mainstream as possible, buttuuuh... I tried. ;v;
But it's hell a lot cheesy. xDD
Welp, of course they start as friends; and Tecchan being oblivious.
Until the next update! Ciao!
