Tell 'em that it's my birthday [x3]
When I party like that
Every night's my birthday
They don't know, so it's okay
Tell 'em that it's my birthday
When I party like that
I woke up to the sound of Selena Gomez's "Birthday" blasting in my room. I smiled as I stretched and opened my eyes and sat up in my bed. I looked around to see my whole family standing around my bed. The music abruptly stopped and they all yelled "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BELLA!" in unison. I couldn't help but smile, despite the fact that they used the name I had come to detest. But I guess it would take some time for them to switch to my new name.
"Thanks guys," I said smiling as Esme and Carlisle hugged me.
"Present time!" Emmett declared and put his present for me in my lap.
I looked down at the huge wrapped box in front of me and opened it excitedly. I carefully took off the ribbon and the wrapping paper, trying not to tear it. (Don't ask why I did this, it's a habit.) Once I got the wrapping paper off I looked at the huge brown box and opened it excitedly. Emmett was grinning at me mischievously and I began to wonder... I opened the box and inside it was empty. I frowned and noticed a card at the bottom of the box. I picked it up and read it.
"'I couldn't decide what present to get you this year so instead I got you this box'", I looked at the note dumbfounded then turned to Emmett. "You buffoon!" I exclaimed and hit him in the chest.
"Ow!" he feigned being hurt. "Look on the other side of the note."
I did as he said and read it out loud again. "'Just joking! Open the flap at the bottom of the box for your real present ;) '"
I excitedly opened said flap and underneath was the complete 'A Song of Ice and Fire' book collection (AN: Game Of Thrones, for those of you who don't know). I was speechless. I had wanted to read these books for so long now but everyone kept telling me I was too young. I jumped out of bed ecstatically and hugged Emmett saying "thank you thank you thank you" over and over again.
He laughed at me, glad I liked it. "You're welcome Bellsie," I gave him a look, "Izzy", he corrected.
I smiled and put his gift aside. Alice was next. Hers was a simple envelope. I opened it and she had written a sweet card from me. With the card was a $200 shopping voucher. I rolled my eyes. Alice knew I didn't like shopping but she still persisted. She knew I'd never be cruel enough to return or reject a gift so I'd have to go shopping with her eventually.
"We can go whenever you want," she told me smug.
"Alice..." I started but she interrupted me.
"It's also for books." she told me and I smiled relieved that we didn't have to spend hours only in clothes shops.
I gave her a hug to thank her then moved on to Nessie's present. It was wrapped in a small rectangular box. I took off the wrapping to reveal a jewellery box. I opened the box and inside was one of the most gorgeous charm bracelets I had ever seen. I carefully picked up the delicate bracelet and examined it. There were 6 round charms on it and I looked at them and realised it was small framed pictures of all of us, one for each family member. Kind of like the ones you get on lockets on necklaces. I smiled and could feel tears in my eyes. I blinked them away and pulled Nessie into a hug.
"Thank you," I whispered into her ear. "It's perfect."
Once I was done hugging Nessie I turned eagerly to my parents. They both looked at each other, excitement clear in their eyes. It made me excited. And then Carlisle produced a set of keys with a ribbon on them and held them out to me. I positively squealed! I jumped out of bed so fast and grabbed the keys and ran downstairs. I threw the front door open and there it was: a brand new convertible Audi with a red ribbon on it. I jumped up and downwind turned around to my parents who were standing behind me smiling. I gave them both huge hugs and kept saying "thank you thank you thank you, a million times thank you I love you so much thank you".
They just laughed and hugged me back telling me I had earned it. I smiled at this, glad I was making my parents proud.
"So, when can I take it for a ride?" I smiled widely at them.
Carlisle ruffled my hair and smiled at me. "You can drive us to your driving test," he said winking at me.
I had never been this excited for a test in my life!
"Go upstairs and change sweetie so we can have some breakfast," Esme said as she kissed me on the forehead. I nodded putting my keys on the key rack, taking a moment to smile at them then going upstairs to get ready for the day.
I decided to dye my hair with some black hair dye I bought last weekend. I remember Edward had once suggested I try going black. I was nervous when I came out of the bathroom - I had never dyed my hair on my own before. I took a deep breath before looking in the mirror and was pleasantly surprised to discover that it came out looking quite decent! I like it. It was permanent dye so it should last for a long time. I straightened my hair before changing. I wore ripped skinny jeans, a white shirt with a black skull on it, black leather jacket, choker around my neck, and converse shoes. I wore Nessie's charm bracelet as well on my right hand. I put on lots of eyeliner, making my eyes dark, and pale greyish barely noticeable lipgloss.
Once I was ready I made my way downstairs. Everyone took a double take when they saw my hair and Esme even dropped the spatula she was holding. She came up to me and ran her fingers through my hair.
"Oh honey, what have you done?" she asked inspecting my hair.
I pushed her away slightly. "What? I like it. I wanted to try something different," I told her annoyed.
She just shook her head and I knew she wouldn't yell at me because it was my birthday. So she just turned around and went back to setting the food on the table.
As always, Alice shook her head disapprovingly at my choice of dress. The others were growing to accept it now. I sat next to Emmett and Esme and we dug into a big special breakfast dedicated to my birthday. Near the end of breakfast my phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Edward. Immediately my face broke into a smile.
"Excuse me," I said hurriedly getting up from the table. I noticed Esme looking at me curiously and she asked Alice something but I didn't hear what as I was already out the room and answering the phone.
"Hello Edward" I answered the phone too excitedly.
"Happy Birthday beautiful," the sexiest voice ever said from the other end.
I blushed. "Thank you."
"I can't wait to see you later tonight..." Edward told me.
"Same here," I said and paused. "What exactly are the plans for tonight? Just so I know how to dress."
"Hmm," there was a pause on the other end of the line. "Wear something... Sexy."
My heart sped up and heat flooded to my cheeks as he said that. He still hadn't said exactly what the plans were which had my mind running wild.
"O-okay," I stammered struggling to keep my breathing even.
Edward chuckled on the other end of the line. "Good luck for your test," he said and then hung up.
I stood there just biting my lip and looking down at the phone for a second, a smile forming. I took a deep breath to clear my thoughts and went back to the table. As I sat down I looked down and realised all eyes were on me.
"What?" I asked looking around innocently.
My mom smiled widely at me. "So, was that your date?" Esme asked with a wink.
My cheeks flushed and I looked down embarrassed. "Yeah," I nodded not looking her in the eyes.
"What did he say?" she pressed on, too damn excited for my liking.
"He just called to wish me happy birthday and say good luck for my driving test," I said nonchalantly trying to end the conversation.
"Aww, that's so sweet! Don't you think that's sweet Carlisle?" Esme cooed.
Carlisle simply smiled. We finished of our breakfast then and packed away the dishes.
"Bella are you ready to go for your test?" Carlisle asked.
I smiled and nodded. "I am so ready! I've never failed a test in my life and I'm not about to start now." I said confidently.
"That's my girl," Carlisle said proudly and ruffled my hair.
Of course Emmett and Alice rolled their eyes at me. Well maybe if they put in a bit more work and effort then they'd also be able to say that. Not my fault they're lazy. I tried to push aside my thoughts of them as I walked out to my new car with my dad.
Carlisle was checking every move I made, pretending to be the test instructor, as we made our way to the testing location. I drove very well, if I do say so myself. I felt confident when we arrived. The tester I got was mean and intimidating but I didn't let him get to me as I did everything I'd practiced. I was careful not to mess anything up. When the test was done I patiently awaited my result.
"Congratulations, you passed," the tester said and I beamed with happiness.
I was now a licenced driver. And I had a car. And I was going out with the most amazing guy at school later. This is the best birthday ever!
