A Curse

I am Shadow the Hedgehog. I am part of a terrible curse. There are seven of us. We spent six of our years together, yet we do not remember each others' faces, due to a memory spell. We separated so they cannot find us. We each have a power, but must hide them so we may blend in. It has been a few years since we have disbanded, but I have a feeling that's all about to change.

Silver

"So… We're reduced to brainstorming? Is there literally nothing we can do other than watch where he's moving?" Silver cried frustratedly. Tails sighed and continue monitoring his screen. "Pretty much." Knuckles replied. "KNUCKLES THE ECHIDNA, THAT IS INCORRECT. IN THEORY, OUR PARTY COULD BE TAKING PART IN A VAST NUMBER OF RECREATIONS. ACCORDING TO MY CALCULATIONS, THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 4,762,085 ACTIVITIES THAT COULD OTHERWISE TAKE UP OUR TIME." Omega rattled off. "Oh really?" Sonic asked. "Please, tell us them all." "ACTIVITY NUMBER ONE, HIJACKING THE GOVERNMENT SATELLITES. PROS: A MORE INDEPTH LOOK AT GRIFFIN'S LOCATION. CONS:-" "Omega honey, that was sarcasm. We have to work on that." Rouge interrupted, shaking her head slightly. "FOOLISH LIFEFORMS." Omega commented.

Tails

While the others' conversation was very intriguing, the kitsune was preoccupied with his electronics. The two dots on his maps pulsed routinely, one remaining in a single location and the other on the move. At his side, Shadow stared down at the machine with slight curiosity. "How did you figure out how to track the chaos energy?" he questioned. Tails, happy to share his knowledge, explained, "Well, Sonic and I often have to hunt down the chaos emeralds. All of them give off a unique energy signal due to their chaotic properties. Since you also have your own abilities, I hypothesized that you would give off a similar signal. And since Griffin has your powers…" The dark hedgehog nodded. He suddenly frowned, looking at the map again. "Tails, look where he is." He pointed at the screen urgently. The twin-tailed fox gasped, "He's at the capital!"

Griffin

The alarms blared loudly, emergency lights dying the room in a red glow. Crumpled heaps of secret service agents and GUN soldiers lined the walls, making the intruder chuckle. Once upon a time that was him, just a mindless servant of the United Nations. Loyal without question. Loyal enough to kill a little girl on the hunt for a dangerous experiment. Shaking his head slightly, he turned to the man sitting at his desk in terror. "Mr. President, sir." Griffin greeted politely with a sinister smirk. "Wh-who are you? How did you get here?" the official stuttered, trying to subtly reach for the pistol beneath his desk. "Don't even bother with that." the invader chuckled. In a blink of an eye, Griffin teleported to the side, pulling his swivel chair away from the firearm. "Mr. President, I have a simple favor to ask of you." Eyes wide with terror, he asked, "What do you want?" "I want complete control over the United Nations. If you do not give me what I desire, I will destroy everything. I think we can come to an agreement, don't you?"

Shadow

While Tails switched the view to a popular news channel, Shadow notified the others. "What?! What's he up to this time?!" Sonic exclaimed. "Whatever it is, it's not good." Blaze commented. The others crowded around the fox, eager to find out what they need to do next. For some reason, Shadow didn't want to join them. The image of the cave flashed behind his eyes once more, and he felt a sudden urge to explore. He cast a glance at the crowd around the screen. They won't know I'm missing. Besides, they can tell me telepathically if Griffin attacks. Without making any sound, he grasped his emerald and chaos controlled. He reappeared in the location from his visions, a deep sense of foreboding on the rise. What's in there? "Aren't you coming in?" sounded a voice in his head, suddenly interrupting his thoughts. He looked around wildly, searching for the source. "Enter, and we can chat more." the voice stated. While Shadow sensed something suspicious about the situation, curiosity got the better of him. The black and red hedgehog walked into the darkness.

Well hello! It certainly has been a while since I have updated, and I have to admit the last chapter was far too short. I was inspired to write again when I received an email notifying me of a new review. Thanks lovekyman for the comment! I actually recently thought of a new direction for this story than originally planned, and it fits in with what I already wrote. I'm actually going to begin writing the next chapter right now, so enjoy everyone!
