Chpt. 3: Just Work

Their arrival at the Station was met by hectic robots moving files and reports from one side of the room to the other, employees attending phone calls and the sound of the Storagers revving with mountains of papers. No one had noticed Cait and Vi had just walked into the Station- a massive stone and metal structure. It was one of the oldest buildings in the City along with the Clock Tower. Dense alloy bars covered the windows (no glass), the doors were 3 meter high wooden double doors with various locks which went from standard, to electric and some new Hextech technology that identified Individuals once they touched the handles of the door. The building was 5 stories high and a couple street blocks deep, but only one street block wide. It stood near the Center of the City, known as Core do to the immense amount of technology, shops and publicity placed to attract tourists and citizens to shop, walk and be proud of their city. The Core had many parks too and things were always kept clean by special robots designed by the Science Academy; it was essentially the Heart of the City.

As part of the touristic location that was the Core, the Station was left untouched by the City's architect and instead was always kept in great shape and state (which Cait thanked Piltover). However, the inside of the Station was a completely different story: the 5 stories at the entrance, where purely administration and paper work with the main floor being only for public and the other 4 were respectively distributed into: archives, finances, investigation, and executive. These, however, were only meters deep as most of the area and floors of the Station were the Cells themselves, detaining the criminals Cait and Vi pulled in. Though the Station was massive do to the times when the City was overrun by criminals and a somewhat militaristic government, it was now usually empty and prisoners rarely stayed long as either the Institute or the Parliament dictated a sentence. Never the less, Cait always made sure every cell had its systems optimized, up to date, improved constantly and clean. She believed in the humanity of criminals, meaning that the deserved a cell that didn't treat them like animals. Today, for example, a lone yordle known as Rumble sat in a cell awaiting revision of his case by the Institute.

Though everyone knew and understood what each floor's function was, the executive floor had become a mystery since Cait's father resignation. The only ones who knew what happened at the executive floor were Cait, Vi, League Champions and the League Summoners themselves. It was only accessible by a special key used on the Elevator, and the only one with a copy was Cait. Vi didn't really mind about not having a key, they rarely ever went up to their office and she actually hated sitting behind a desk or just doing nothing…and Piltover never allowed them to actually relax that much. Besides, she didn't like the Station that much…she had seen the insides of it a couple of times when she was younger.

As papers flew across the room and shouts rang throughout the room, Vi and Cait merely looked at each other in disapproval faces- Cait's was serious and cold while Vi frowned slightly as she grabbed the back of her head with both of her MechaHands. Cait sighed heavily and clapped her hands twice firmly and loudly, the room fell still and silent.

Cait: Report?

?: AH, MISS CAITLYN, WE RECEIVED VARIOUS REPORTS THIS MORNING ON UNSUAL ACTIVITY DOWN AT THE DOCKS AND…

Vi: yeah, we read them at the house 01

Cait: Any update after Report 46?

01: Various Witness reports near sector 4 on crates being moved and…you have a vistor.

Cait and Vi: Visi?…

?: Good Morning, Ladies.

The confident, casual and playful tone was too familiar to both girls as they both straightened up in a jolt and tensed up…especially Vi. A rather tall man, muscular and dressed in an elegant Debonair outfit stood from the couch against the right wall of the office. He dusted off his suit and grinned at them as he picked from the wall a large Hammer which had clear electrical and Metallurgic elements.

Cait: Good Morning Jayce.

The girls were always used to being surrounded by technology and robots. Cait had been born into the upper echelon in Piltover and her family had given her the luxury of meeting the Science Academy and having various robots at home for various chores. Vi was born on the lower echelon, she never met her parents and she never talked nor filled Cait about her life prior them meeting. Regardless, Vi had a knack for robotics, programming and building, which made her very comfortable when surrounded by them. In the end, any citizen in Piltover would never feel uncomfortable around robots since the city had been filled with various types of them since Cait deployed various scout and monitoring sentinels to make sure the city was always safe. Ironically, no robots ever entered or could be found in their house. After a lifetime with them and dealing with them daily, they loved the silence home offered. Yet, they were always pleased to see 01: a semi sentient robot created by Heimerdinger at the Science Academy, with help from Oriana. 01 was a blessing and he was the brain of the Station: supervising every activity, managing the archive, documenting every investigation, reporting of every new finding and being the connection between action and administration for the girls. They couldn't imagine work or life without him, he made everything easier and he managed their schedules perfectly.

On the other hand, dealing with people was both of the girl's least favorite activity. Although some could consider them antisocial, they were more…reserved. They usually attended parties, they mingled and they had a constant communication with most League Champions. Some Champions, those from Piltover, were a bit too frequent in their daily lives- Jayce Hansen. Jayce was known in all Piltover as a Vigilante…something that annoyed both girls. Charmful, handsome, well dressed and masculine, he had almost every girl drooling for him...almost. Cait treated him coldly (no surprise there) and Vi simply couldn't tolerate him, especially since he always had his sights on her. Never the less, the girls did value his efforts to keep peace, helping them with side jobs or preventing other Champions (Viktor mainly) from creating chaos in the city.

Jayce: I see you have your hands full today.

Cait: Yes, so what brought you here this early?

Jayce: Besides coming to visit the most beautiful girls in the whole Metropolis?

Cait chuckled as she walked past him and behind 01 who kept looking at the screen beneath him, eternally moving and typing every event and information being registered throughout the city and the office. Vi simply stared at him, clenching her MechaHands on her hips, as she loosened her jaws to answer him.

Vi: What do you want?

Jayce: Well, I'd love to take you out to…

Vi let into him a solid punch which hit squarely into his abdomen, making him bend forward and grimace, a yellow aura surrounding him briefly on the impact.

Jayce: That …was …unnecessary…

Vi: You asked for it

Cait: Vi!

Vi: He asked for it!

Cait: Behave!

Jayce: Listen to her…Vi

Vi: I will knock you back to the League if you don't shut up.

She was serious as she raised her right fist under Jayce's jaw as he got up from the first hit. Jayce grinned and simply mover her hand away as he moved across from her and up to the counter where 01 sat.

01: Miss Cait will be with you shortly.

Cait: Give me a second Jayce.

Jayce: Sure, no problem, I just came to drop off something from Heim. Now I'll have to ask the League to upgrade the shields cause of your partner.

Vi: It wasn't that hard you wuss.

Cait: Manners!

Vi: Sorry.

Cait nodded in disapproval without raising her head from the screen embedded into the desk she stood over, reading over articles and reports from the investigation floor. Every desk had this system and holographic keyboard, allowing for work spaces to be efficient and clean. Vi moved beside her and sat on a chair, feet over the desk, nearly tipping over some stacks of paper.

Cait: HEY!

Cait slapped Vi's feet to get them off, and she immediately did so with a huff in protest.

Cait: Don't mess anything.

Vi: Gee, sorry.

Jayce: You behave like a married couple.

Cait looked up at Jayce and walked towards him, ducking for a moment as a little drone flew past carrying a stack of papers to a Storager.

Cait: What is Heimer sending this time?

Jayce: These weird things.

Jayce took out from inside his suit a pair of golden bracelets that looked like watches with electrical pieces going through the chain, and it had an enclosed square panel where the watch would go.

Cait: What is it?

Jayce: I don't know, he gave me one too.

Vi: Le'me see.

As Jayce pulled his sleeve up to show his own, Vi walked up to them and grabbed her own bracelet, looking at it intently as Cait held hers in her hand and watched Jayce's.

Vi: It seems to open.

Jayce: Well, I didn't toy around with it too much. You know…

Before he could finish his sentence Vi gave a little jolt of surprise as (with her MechaHands) she had made the gadget open up, unfolding into 2 screens and some green gas micro cylinders burning under it. As Jayce and Cait turned their attention to her, Cait couldn't help but smile- she always found it amazing how Vi could manipulate such huge equipment into doing the most delicate of things and yet be so clumsy with her regular hands.

Jayce: How did you do that?

Vi: Just press on the center of it.

?: INDEED!

Cait and Jayce jumped out of surprise when the voice rang throughout the room- both had been in the process of looking at their gadget once more. The voice was familiar, and the two crammed around Vi to look into the tiny screen where Heimerdinger was.

Heimer: I must say, I am surprised Vi is the first to figure out how the COMMS works.

All: COMMS?

Heimer: COMmunication Mobile Service; these are the first batch and I am thrilled to see them working before I ship them to the League for all other regions.

Cait: You amaze us with every new invention Heimer.

Jayce: What is this thing?

Vi: Great, now we can know where everyone is.

While Cait's tone was that of praise and Jayce's was genuine curiosity, Vi's was a bit more sarcastic as she wasn't thrilled on the idea of being monitored or having a tracking beacon on her. Her rogue and crime lifestyle was behind her, but she remembered too well how it felt to be tracked down and observed…she hated it.

Cait simply looked at her, scolding her would be futile as she knew what was going through her partner's mind. Out of the few things Vi had shared about her personal life with her- apparently being the only one- was that she longed for privacy and trust. When they had agreed on the terms for their partnership, Cait had offered her home as a token of such trust…she also wanted someone she could rely on regardless of the situation. Trust for them, was something more than morals or work…it was the foundation of a good relationship and the reason behind their great duo. Trust, was everything. Besides, being Champions of the League, they had enough to deal with (regarding privacy).

The League is a division of the Institute of War, which is seen by the population as a beacon of order, justice and peace. It was created out of necessity as technology, magic and rivalry between districts increased at an exponential scale- now and before. Before the League or the Institute, City-States or Regions would battle each other in gruesome wars for power and territory. Science and magic concentrated their efforts and intellect into warfare, creating monstrous weaponry, deadly devices and training exceptional Individuals. Thankfully, an order of Magicians known as Summoners, those who could harness the power of living things and create replicas of them for their own use, opposed such destructive behavior. This order intervened in one battle, one which would change the fate of the continent of Runeterra forever.

The renowned Summoner Rift, the most popular Field of Justice, was once warred by the city-states for its magical properties. In an attempt to restore peace and to be heard, the summoners of every city-state united and used their power to seal this region between Freljord, the Serpentine River, and the Ironspike Mountains in a magical barrier which placed the region in ChronoStasis- a state where everything would exist in a repetitive and eternal cycle and permanent death would be impossible. As the City-states ceased fighting a pointless war, they sought the Summoners' order for an explanation. The Summoners willingly explained what they had done. They were wise men and women, selling the idea to the masses of a new order and motto since before- peace would reign and be possible. It was a long political battle as Summoners from every City-state concentrated their magic and efforts into helping its citizens and promoting that their ultimate goal was peace. The global population slowly accepted the Summoners' proposal and ideology, helping them and rallying for them. With their intervention at the Rift, stopping a War entirely… the people fledged their full support. They not only had the ideas to ensure peace, but the power to do so. This lead to the creation of the Institute of War.

All City-States and the Summoners agreed to maintain peace and never wage war again, placing their trust in the Institute of War in dealing with all diplomatic issues. It was then that the League was created. The League would mediate conflict by allowing battles to be fought in Official Fields of Justice: Twisted Treeline, Summoner Rift, Crystal Scar or Howling Abyss, only by Champions- Individuals of any party, allegiance or ideology with exceptional skills and power. All future equipment and technology created by any City-State or individual would be shared in the Fields of Justice, useable by the Champions. It was then that the best of the best fighters in all Runeterra enlisted themselves.

Champions would be the voices of their City-States or they could fight for a personal interests/ ideology. They could promote their ideas or gain influence by winning in the battles. In exchange, City-States would be provided absolute support and representation inside the Institute, have a representant of the Institute in their territory, and the Institute would use their own resources to support these City-States or Regions in case of disaster or if required. For those who weren't allied to an official party or City-State, their interests or ideologies would be voiced and respected.

Champions (becoming public icons and sort of celebrities) would follow a code of conduct. They would become model-citizens that would motivate and ensure peace in their own City-States, vowing to take their people's beliefs and demands to the Institute and the Field. Since this would be a job they chose, the Institute provided champions with 3 special runic sigils (invisible to the eye) that guaranteed their safety: an emergency teleportation rune which would remove the Champion when their life was in peril, a protective runic shield that could absorb damage (preventing lethal blows) and a Tracking Rune, allowing the Institute to locate and call Champions if a situation required it. This last was something Cait and Vi opposed, but had no choice.

Heimer: Now now, my dear, there is no need to be untrusting. This gadget is made for our own personal use.

Cait: Well, what should we do with it?

Vi: Don't tell me we are your guinea pigs again Heim.

Heimer: Not quite, ever since Ziggs moved in we've got our regulations a bit more strict. So, these won't go causing any mishap. Basically, I wanted to try out the gadget live and how far it could transmit.

Jayce: Sounds good to me!

Cait: I think the Station can actually find this handy.

Cait looked at Vi and gave her a very devilish grin.

Cait: No running away now Vi.

Vi: I feel I'm gonna regret this.

Cait giggled as Vi laughed nervously with Jayce and Heimer joining in.

Jayce: well, I'll get going, duty calls.

Vi: Which duty?

Jayce: Hey, I also work you know…

Cait: You do?

Heimer, Vi and Cait laughed as Jayce frowned and gave a frustrated sighed as he left the Station. The girls and Heimer, with Vi carrying the gadget, watched as Jayce got into his own personal classical and elegant white car with Golden lining, a big noisy motor roaring as he turned the engine on. His car was one of the few non-hextech cars in the city, running on some special ore discovered in the Crystal Scar long ago. It used electrical and mechanical parts and though it allowed for a flashier and more powerful motor, the girls found it noisy and…overcompensating. As he sped away, putting his black goggles on, the girls frowned and sighed once the noise of the motor was distant.

Heimer: A bit over the top for my taste.

Vi: Overcompasting for something…

As Vi motioned with her hands to the measurement of very small Cait slapped her on her MechaHands and they giggled…Heimer joined in as well.

Cait: You'd be the one to know huh?

Vi: SHUT UP!

They all laughed openly. Cait cleared her throat and grabbed Vi's hand, pulling the screen so that Heimer could watch her.

Cait: Heimer, we have something to ask you.

Heimer: Yes? What do you need darlings?

Vi: Is Ziggs there?

Heimer: Not at the moment. He left early, saying he had some equipment to pick up at the market. He has been quite energetic over some new device or bomb he's building.

The girls got serious and looked at each other, which made Heimerdinger preoccupied and get closer to the screen, lowering his voice.

Heimer: Is something wrong? Do you think he's doing something out of the rules?

Cait: The drones have been seeing Ziggs at the docks and in the lower eschelon, one drone even went missing the other day after spotting him.

Heimer: Are you sure?

Vi: You made us these drones Heimer, how much do you trust your creations.

Heimer: They aren't infallible but the percent of a mistake is well around the 2.34%, which is less than the 5% minority line…and we do only approve proyects with a success or produc…

Vi: BOOOOORING!

Cait glared at Vi.

Cait: Don't be mean.

Heimer: I'm sorry, but yes, I get your point.

Cait: Do you have any idea what he's working on?

Heimer: In the slightest, we all have our own private laboratories and workshops.

Vi: how can we contact you if we find anything?

Heimer: Ah, yes, that's the beauty of this device. Oh my…I forgot to tell this to Jayce.

Cait: Vi will contact him after you tell us.

Vi spun her head with a look of disapproval and protest at Cait.

Vi: WHY ME?!

Cait turned her head to face Vi's with a cold and definitive look on her face.

Cait: Because I say so.

Heimer: Girls.

As the two turned their heads to face Heimer again, they saw him shake his head in disapproval and sigh.

Heimer: The screen below this one is made out of a photofiber gel that keeps it's form and hardens when stressed or applied pressure to it. It is both a screen and a panel, there you can see various options and actions that the gadget can do.

Vi: Ok, I'll mess with it later.

Heimer: Wait! One more th…

Before he could say anything else, Vi closed the device and proceeded to place it in her pocket. Cait grabbed hers and watched Vi walk to the other side of the counter and stand before 01.

01: Yes Madame.
Vi: You never change…listen, find out how many gadgets and stuff are in this thing, I'll come back for it later.

Vi tossed the device at 01, who caught it mechanically without looking at her with one hand as the other kept typing on his screen.

Cait: I don't think that's the point Vi, you should carry it…or wear it as a watch.

As she said this, Vi giggled noticing Cait was trying to latch her device around her slim wrists- it slid off every time.

Vi: Come here…

Cait approached Vi and watched her take her Device in her hands, skimming it around a bit before laughing.

Vi: This will never fit us, it's too loose…well…

Cait crossed her arms around her chest and pouted. She loved her body, but she had always hated her slim arms and wrists, very few jewelry fit her and those which did were usually custom made and expensive.

Cait: Don't say it, you know I dislike my wrists.

Vi was already toying around with the device on the table as she answered her, goggles on and using various tools that she usually carried around (to fix or tweak her MechaHands) and also had imbedded into her MechaHands' finger tips.

Vi: Honey, you are gorgeous, stop with the self-loathing…besides, it's a gadget made by nerds, not a fashion designer… that should do it.

Vi turned around and kneeled in front of Cait, who watched over her with blushed cheeks but a dead serious face.

Cait: What are you do…HEY!

Vi had placed a hand on Cait's back and pulled her closer to her, getting a better view of her waist.

Cait: WHAT ARE YOU!

Vi: Hold still!

Cait stood still and crossed her arms once again as she looked at Vi bewildered. She was very insecure about physical contact and she avoided it as much as possible, especially in public. Vi ignored Cait, her childhood had been rough and she had lived her life surrounded mainly by males. It was the reason she was rough, that she knew how to brawl, and that she had a scar hidden under her VI tattoo on her left cheek.

Vi worked swiftly and delicately, moving the golden chain she had made from the pieces of the bracelet onto Cait's outfit. With a soft "click" she exhaled and got up, placed the device on Cait's belt, where it remained attached.

Vi: Now you can carry it and look as lovely as always.

Cait looked down at the device and smiled as she liked how it did match with her purple dress. As she picked it out of her belt, she noticed a golden chain extending from it and giggled, she was surprised.

Cait: You are fast.

Vi winked.

Vi: you know it.

Cait smiled and pushed her away as Vi smirked and giggled to herself.

Cait: Let's get to work…01, call us when you're finished.

01: Sure thing Miss Caitlyn.

Cait: And clean this mess.

As Vi opened both doors with a single swing, she stretched her body, rotating her shoulder out of habit, revving up for today's activities. She looked back just to see her partner strolling delicately and very lady-like down the stairs of the entrance, fixing her rather large top hat on her head and twirling her rifle on one hand. Vi smiled and grinned as Cait stood next to her.

Vi: Where to, boss?

Cait: I'll make you run to our destination if you say that again.

Vi laughed and Cait cocked her gun under chin, making her move with a skip. A devilish small grin on Cait's mouth.

Vi: Hey!

Cait: So jumpy, at least you're alert.

Cait threw herself on the back of the car and motioned Vi to get in, her legs dangling from the car. Vi smiled and got in.

Cait: Hmm, I don't even know where to start.

Vi: How about the last sighting of the last drone?

The car started and Vi got into the Main highway, not gaining speed before Cait agreed or decided where to go.

Cait: Good start, or we could go to the lower echelons and ask around.

Vi: Won't work, you know they don't talk to cops.

Cait: They talk to you

Vi: If I go alone.

Cait: We are partners…no secrets.

Vi: I report everything to you, no need to worry…when have I let you down.

Cait sighed and got her legs in, sitting up straight and placing her head over Vi's, kneeling on the back seat.

Cait: Your choice then.

Vi smiled and lowered her brown goggles, she lifted her right foot slightly.

Cait: Just don't…

Vi: HOLD ON!

Before Cait could finish, Vi slammed the pedal of the car, revving the ChronoHex Engine and making it accelerate in a burst, racing down the main avenue, onto the highway. Cait was thrown backwards into the back seat and she was barely able to grab her top Hat, preventing it from flying off. Vi laughed happily as she drove fast and furiously in direction to the Mid-Echelon Market…the last place the shot drone registered images.

The City divided echelons by walls and since the city was made on a mountain-side, these were very efficient at the time of their creation. They were obsolete now. The walls which once divided the city, now only served to distinguish its sectors: Docks, Lower Echelon, Mid-Echelon and Higher Echelon. With the rise of Cait as Security Chief and Sheriff and the creation of the Institute of War, had found peace in more ways imaginable and at a rather dramatic pace. The city only kept the White Marble walls and they had completely demolished the gates that once regulated the traffic and movement of citizens between the echelons- it was oppressive. Despite being the only City-State with a government ruled by "the People" and not a monarchy, the city was cut and separated by social classes. But, that was then; now, the city blossomed and flourished as everyone shared equal opportunities and no discrimination was held by the government and the Security Department made sure no one was abused or discriminated by the echelon they lived in. In honesty, mostly thanks to the League and the dramatic redistribution of power it allowed, the only difference between the echelons were the amount of wealth its residents had- meaning they could spend more. With the new peace and order, the City invested its once heavy military budget (both for internal control of the masses and military power against other City-States) into the creation of much bigger, nicer and equal public areas and shopping areas, allowing the population to bond. With every cross-echelon marriage or news of the Lower Echelon becoming the new Bohemian Center, or the Mid Echelon developing the largest and most exotic market, Cait and Vi smiled and laughed over a drink or dinner as they were perhaps the best example that this division that once existed, was now history.

As the car approached the Golden Arch on the Marble Wall, iconic of the World Market, Vi slowed the car down and entered the massive sector. It was once a conflictive location where shacks, poverty, crime and the local market could be found. A few years back, few dared enter the area and only some Mid Echelon and most Lower Echelon citizens ventured into the area to buy produce for their homes or restaurants. It was located at a perfect distance between the Docks, Lower and Mid Echelon districts, while the Higher Echelon had to cross the Mid Echelon to access it- the city architects did this intentionally. However, with the development of crime and poverty and the government being rather oppressive - the area decayed into a pitiful state. Thankfully, a few months after the creation of the Institute of War and when Cait was barely starting to take over the Station, the city gathered its once military funds and rescued the market with the help of Cait. Today, the massive plaza which once housed citizens, market areas, shacks and mountains of filth, was now home to thousands of stores, buildings and markets which all sold some product, produce, gear, machinery, etc. It was recognized as the biggest, most exotic and most complete market in the whole continent, housing over a thousand different shops of various sizes. As Vi parked the car besides their favorite Tea Shop (Cait's favorite at least), she looked down the checkered red road and the grey sidewalk filled with people talking, negotiating, buying and moving between shops. Finding a lost drone which was shot down shouldn't be a problem, someone must have at least seen it.

As Vi got out of the Car, she stretched her arms behind her back, cracking her shoulders a bit, making her let out a little moan. A sharp slap behind her head made her grimace and turn around.

Vi: HEY!

Cait: How many times must I tell you? NO SPEEDING!

Cait was standing out of the car too, dusting off her dress and fixing her top hat on her head, not looking over at Vi who she had just hit.

Vi: Please, as if I'd wreck the car.

Cait: I would prefer if we didn't take that risk.

Vi: What? Not trusting me with the car now?

Cait: I didn't say that.

Cait approached Vi and dusted her chest off, her face was serious.

Vi: H-Hey! No touching my… stuff.

Cait looked at Vi questioningly and laughed. Vi had her arms around her chest in a defensive manner and covering her breasts, her face crimson.

Cait: Come on, lets ask around. No need to be…shy.

Cait giggled as Vi had her large MechaHands across her chest.

Vi: JA JA, very funny Cait.

Cait looked back at her as she swung her rifle onto her shoulder, walking in a very military style, and winked. Vi lowered her head.

Cait: Hurry up Vi, we don't want our clues and leads to disappear.

Vi: That has never happened.

Cait was already entering the shop as Vi cupped her breasts with her Mecha Hands and pushed them up a bit, trying to find their position and comfort. Vi exhaled as she felt much more comfortable and tried to calm herself. Cait could sometimes be the most spontaneous person she knew, but she usually lacked a public filter to distinguish when something could be taken the wrong way. Vi laughed as she thought that they were not so different after all…even if she was reckless and her partner/boss was a proper lady. Vi walked toward the shop and took in a good breath of the Market, the smell of freshly baked cinnamon bread coming from the famous pastry down the block.

Vi: Just another work day.

She entered with a chime of the bell over the door, Cait already making their order at the counter, leaning on it, yet careful her dress didn't lift. Vi smiled as she took the table next to the window that looked down one of the streets, the one where most of the tall buildings (hence clothing shops) were. As she looked out the window, she started looking at the people that walked past: couples happily walking together, business people talking about business, most were just people carrying a lot of bags from their shopping, sometimes a cart with electronics and pieces would pass by, or with large amounts of food and produce (chefs). Vi liked picturing what their lives could be like, what they did, what interesting story from work or their lives they could share…her thoughts blacked out as she noticed a small fury brown yordle with a black helmet and huge goggles walk down the street in front of her, getting further away with his whimsical stride. Vi focused on him, trying to not lose him amongst the crowd. He entered a scrap shop, which Vi quickly remembered its name: "Junk Found". As she got up to tell Cait she had found their little yordle friend Ziggs, out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed a hooded slim figure with black army boots walk into the same shop…a gruesome image of the past flashed through her mind. Vi bolted out the door, looking down the street, trying to see if the figure would go out of the store. She was breathing heavily, panicked, only the pull on one of her shoulder plates made her notice that Cait was beside her and had been calling her…probably.

Cait: Hey, Earth to Vi, our order is at the table.

Vi: I think…I just saw Ziggs.

Cait: Wow, that panicked because you just saw that fur ball?

Cait giggled, pulling on Vi's right MechaHands playfully to get her inside.

Cait: Come on, we'll catch him…

Vi: He was with someone else

Cait stopped abruptly and stood in front of Vi, cupping her face between her hands and pulling her so she could see each other to the eyes.

Cait: What do you mean …someone else?

Vi knew Cait was exceptionally good at telling when someone lied just by looking at them, looking at them in the eyes made her almost flawless. Vi opened her mouth and closed her eyes, trying to find the best words.

Cait: Don't you dare lie to me Vi…you are my partner.

Vi: Someone I once knew…and I thought I'd never see again.
