Padme entered the passenger cabin still slightly out of breath from the scare that Obi-wan had given her. She hoped that the Jedi master was not too perceptive to where he would notice how close she was with Anakin. That was all she needed, a member of the Jedi council to find out her secret. Anakin had told her over and over that he didn't care if anyone found out, that all he wanted was to be with her. But letting the council find out about their marriage would mean expulsion for him and the realization of how selfish she had been in taking his hand. There were times she wished she had never agreed to marry him, then he never would have to choose between his career and her. If only she could have wished her feelings away, never to feel the intense love they both shared for one another. She truly would be selfish for robbing the galaxy of it's chosen one.

As she entered the cabin she noticed Ahsoka sitting alone, her arms crossed around her legs. Her face had a touch of melancholy as she stared off into the distance, not even noticing when Padme sat next to her. While Padme sat in the company of her husband's padawan, she thought it the best place to be lost in thought.

Her mind wandered to the very secret that had been bothering her for the past couple of weeks; a secret that she thought made her a very selfish person. She wanted desperately to tell someone just so she could ease her sense of anxiety. She wanted just to hear that other person let her know that it would be all right and that her decision did not make her selfish at all. She glanced over at Ahsoka, but held her tongue knowing full well that she was not the person to tell. Ahsoka wouldn't understand.

"What's eating you up?" Padme heard Ahsoka ask. She could sense an undertone of spite in Ahsoka's voice.

"Nothing." Padme immediately replied. She paused for only a moment before saying. "But something is clearly bothering you. Is there something I did to upset you?"

"Nothing at all." Ahsoka said with a disappointing tone. "It's nothing you could help me with anyway."

Padme laid a hand upon Ahsoka's shoulder, offering her some comfort. "Just try me." She said with a smile.

"You're not a Jedi. You wouldn't understand." Ahsoka said being difficult.

This brought an even bigger smile to Padme's face. "I may not be a Jedi but that does not mean I can't bring some comfort to the subject. Sometimes it is best to have an outside opinion rather than rely on the closed views from those dedicated to a millennium old religion."

"Yeah, well you are lucky. You don't have to abide by such rules. You are free to feel however you want. Meanwhile I am sitting here trying to keep control over my emotions when all I want to do is act upon them."

Padme was happy that Ahsoka was finally giving her something to work with, something to think about that wasn't her trouble. "We all have to keep control over our emotions. I think you will find that you and I have more in common than you think."

"Have you ever been in love?" Ahsoka asked quietly.

Padme smiled. "I have."

"Really?" Ahsoka said surprised. "I thought you never were and that's why you are alone."

"I am not alone Ahsoka, I have my family, my career, my people. I have a whole planet to look after."

"Then you never liked a guy."

"I didn't say that."

"Then why aren't you with him?"

"Life isn't always simple Ahsoka. My duty is to my people first and always. And he has the same views. If we had very different lives I would like to think that we would be together."

"You both feel the same way about eachother? Then you should be together, I don't see why it is so complicated for you. You don't have to abide by the Jedi code. If I like someone it doesn't matter. I have to ignore those feelings."

"So you do like someone. May I ask who?"

"No." Ahsoka said quickly before looking over at the cabin door. The door slid open to reveal Anakin. Grime covered his hands and face from working on the ship. "We are about to leave hyperspace." He announced to the two women in front of him.

"I hope your plan works." Padme said to him skeptically.

"As do I." He said before closing the distance between him and his padawan. He knelt down before her, trying to find eye contact but to no avail. " I heard something was bothering you, snips."

Ahsoka finally looked towards him. "Who told you?" She asked angrily.

"Does it matter? What matters is that you didn't tell me. I'd like to know why."

"It doesn't matter." Ahsoka said under her breath.

"It does matter. I'm here to help you Ahsoka. I do care about you."

Ahsoka's face became hot and she turned away, trying to hide from him. As she did a loud bang was heard through out the ship and a great force threw Anakin tumbling onto the floor. Ahsoka was pushed into Padme who braced herself on the passenger bench.

"General! We need you up here!" A clone called for Anakin from the cockpit. Anakin was quick to his feet and ran as fast as he could towards the ship's controls.

Ahsoka and Padme straightened themselves on the bench. Padme turned towards her and asked the question that had been burning inside her ever since Anakin walked into the passenger cabin. "It's Anakin isn't it?"

Ahsoka looked at her with fear in her eyes. "Yes." She admitted.
