Chapter 13: Training
(Spyro)
Out of all the training and all the fighting that we did we never had to prepare more for a final attack on the city like we are now. Waiting for a strike to come that could take weeks just wasn't what we were going to do.
Instead we started fortifying the city and sending thee dragons not taking part in the defense into the inner workings of the dragon temple. It was the safest place we knew of.
But even so out of all the craziness that had happened. I found my self thinking of last night. I haven't seen the last time we settled down to talk with burn. This is how that went. After meeting at the training room with Cynder things started getting silent until I spoke up.
"So Burn you figured out what you'll do when this is done." I said. "Don't know. I have a life in two worlds and I don't know what will happen when we finish off the dark lord." Burn said. I looked at Cynder in concern.
"Well you know you can stay Burn. I mean you have Winter and your kids to think about." Cynder said. "I know thats what I'm afraid off. I never had any thing to lose last time I was here. Now I have a family and I can't leave them." Burn said.
That when the targets popped up. Burn started blasting fire balls at them. "So what your saying is you fear of dying and losing all memory of this place like Storm and Crunch" I said. "Basically I mean yes They didn't leave any human aspect here because they never returned home." Burn said.
He sounded like he was about to stop and tear up at any moment. But what he said was true. He had Given Winter the necklace he had always worn when he was little. She would have something to tell her he was still alive if he never did come back.
"Burn your not gonna die. I wont let that happen." I said as I spun whacking a dummy with my tail. "Besides your place is here. You have more then proven that you belong. And that your more then a trustful person." I said.
"Thanks but it seems not every body share's that same enthusiasm as you do. I know some people want to see me leave." Burn said. He shot a few more fire balls off. "Well those people are wrong. You have done a lot to help this world." Cynder said.
"Yeah but because of me. Because of me my world was pushed into this. My brother was killed. My mom put in danger." Burn said. And as he said this I could have sworn I saw electricity run threw his body.
"My Home in danger and I can't protect it." Burn said. He shot of another blast but this time it wasn't fire. I was starring in complete shock. Not Fire dragon in our history has ever learned another element other then there own.
"Did burn just do that?" Cynder asked in confusion. I nodded. "Burn calm down your shooting out electricity now." I said. He looked at the now destroyed target still sparking. "Theres no way that could happen." Burn said.
"Actually I figured this may happen" A voice said. we turned to see Corbin walk in. "What do you mean?" I said. "When Malefor took over Burn to the dark side for a bit he had given him power that he could use. They were locked when he was freed but I see he's unlocked one of them." Corbin said
"What do you mean by power?" Cynder asked. "He gave him the ability to use all breath types. I thought they would vanish when he was freed but now I see that my second guess was correct. He has them locked in side him till they are ready to come out. So in a way Spyro he's like you but he is still fire type." Corbin said.
I looked at Burn in surprise. "Well this is actually a good thing then." Cynder said. "If we can unlock all those breaths in Burn then we can stand a chance against Malefor's forces." Cynder said. "I'm afraid not." Corbin said.
"You see if you try to unlock them all the last breath Malefor put inside him was dark fire. Meaning pure black flames. If he unlocks that Burn will once again become Scorch." Corbin said. "What you mean he could go dark again." Cynder said.
Corbin nodded. "Malefor wasn't stupid enough not to have a back up plan. And now that electricity is unlocked. its only a matter of time before the others follow." Corbin said. "So you mean Burn is going to become Scorch again." I said.
"Yes but it wont happen right away. If we can beat Malefor before it happens then we can save him from that fate. But that task is easier said then done." Corbin said. "Well then I'll fight him as long as I can." Burn said.
"Well then you'll need help." Terrador said walking in. "Quite right well need to train him in the other breaths if he is to fight." Cyril said. "But this is astounding so many factors must have had to occur before a fire dragon could master all four breaths." Volteer said.
I looked at them. "Just this morning you said you would have him leave when this ended." I said. "A mistake we wish to make up for. We have given it thought. And your right. He has done many things for us. As far as we are concerned Burn is a true dragon and belongs here." Terrador said.
"Well since he has learned the electricity element I think its fair I see to his training then." Volteer said. "Besides it will give me time to see how well a fire dragon handles this element very fascinating indeed." Volteer said.
I just laughed. "your in for it now Burn. Just make sure you come back from this in one piece. element training isn't exactly easy" I said. He nodded "You two should go get some rest I'll see you in the morning." Burn said.
That was all last night. Now here it is morning and I can't stop thinking of it. Cynder gets up and nuzzles me. "Whats wrong Spyro you seem a little uneasy." Cynder said. "Its just that id we lose burn we wont just lose a friend but Winter loses her mate and she will be stuck raising the hatchlings alone." I said.
"Spyro Burn knows the risks. But he is doing this to protect What he cares for. Besides worry to much about some one else is not a good thing. You need to focus on yourself. You Malefor's ultimate target. If he gets you we lose it all." Cynder said.
I laughed and nuzzled her back. "He will not get me not as long as I have my friends by my side. Together we can take him down once and for all." I said. Of course as I said this I worried. Would we be able to take him down after all thats happened. I didn't know anymore.
