Chapter 18: The battle starts

Last time I stood up on this wall in this type of situation was during the human conflict when we first arrived. Back when we were little and Burn had come here for the first time we stood on this very spot after the human conflict ended.

Me, Ember, Spyro, Cynder, Winter, Storm, Crunch, And the guardians. We all stood here looking as the sun set in the distance. We hah stood there waiting the whole day for Burn to return. But he never did.

We had feared Mathias had won the fight then. But he didn't. Ignitus told us that Burn was still alive then. And we planned on seeing him again. ThenHe came back three years later. He looked older and more made.

But he came back with friends then. Now look at this situation. Half the dragons protecting war fang are in front of the gates. And we are standing on top the wall. And a good 100 yards away is Malefor and his army.

"So its come to this then has it." Malefor said. I could see the look in Burn's eyes. As well as Spyro's. Each of them has something against Malefor. Each of them look ready to kill him.

"Ok look I know we our outnumbered by his force. But we still can fight back. Even if it mans taking this to the front door step of our homes we can win." Burn said.

This may not be my world. This may not be were I was born. But I consider this place more of my home then I have any were else in life. Ever since we were kids and came here." Burn said.

I saw him look at me. "Lets protect our home. And lets finally end Malefor's evil plans." Burn said. And with that we all turned to Malefor's forces with a look of pure hatred in our eyes.

After what seemed like forever. He finally arrived. He was a football field length from the city. There was no way I was going to let him threw. Not after what he had done.

All that was left was waiting to see who would make the first move. I know what Malefor wanted. HE wanted to rule like Mathias did. But he was going to first take out all who trapped him.

Heck I would have done the same thing. But I would have stuck to the original army that I had not turned half of a population into dark dragons. Thats what pissed me off the most.

But after a few minutes of waiting Malefor finally made his move. His forces charged and soon the whole front of the city was engaged in fighting. I looked at the friends I had here.

"Remember no matter what happens. We defend this city and keep them out." I said. They all nodded and we shot to the sky and dove into the fighting. And as soon as we did we immediately got separated.

I had never seen fighting like this even in the human conflict. I had to be careful. I was strong enough to take a dark dragon now yes but they still did a lot of damage. I saw one charge me and I took action straight away.

I swung my tail hitting the dark dragon to the ground as it charged. I looked up to see that it was my mother. I had no choice but to fight her. even thou she had our worlds military training in her i had to fight.

"Stop this mom I don't wanna fight you." I said. But She swung her tail at me only scratching my chest. She then before I could react used her back claws on me as she swung the tail. She managed to take my leg and give me a few bad cuts.

"Thats to bad Burn. As far as I am concerned your the enemy and I wont let you beat my Master." She said. I charged and slammed her against a rock then I felt a hard bite on my neck and I screamed Using my claws on her.

By the time I had finished she had several nice scratches on her chest but none bad enough to hurt her. "You can't beat me boy Malefor has made it so I wont lose to you." She said. But I knew that was a false statement.

"Malefor said the same thing to me when I was Scorch. But that part lost" I said trying to put reason in that statement. I pinned her to the ground for a second. But before I knew it a wall of black fire was in my face.

I jumped off only to be tackled and have a bad scratch placed on my chest. I pushed her off and stood up. At this point we were both panting our our wounds and of exhaustion. She charged me and in reaction I slashed my tail spade across her chest and legs.

She fell to the ground unable to get up. Then all of a sudden the cuts and scrapes healed and she started shrinking till she was human again. I didn't think it was possible but I had beaten the only person i feared most in my life my own mother.

She looked up at me and I smiled. "Rest mom you'll be home soon." I said. And as she closes her eyes I place a grey Crystal on her sending her home. all that was left was saving my mate and killing Malefor.

I look up in time only to have a dark dragon barley miss me. But it wasn't standing long. Soon Corbin comes out of no were landing his weapon deep in its head. "You know you should be more careful. I don't want to have to save you all day." Corbin said.

I laughed. Then noticed that were Willow was standing not a single dark dragon was touching him. He was some how fighting off the enemy rather well. "Corbin stick with me. I need to find Winter." I said.

Corbin nodded. We went back to the fighting. Ever time I came to a dark dragon I looked to see if it was winter. It wasn't. I was going to find her. I wasn't going to let Malefor control her. Then After i deal with her I was going after the dark lord himself.

Me and Corbin just continue to go threw them until I see them running. I didn't know why they were running away when they had the strength in numbers but I didn't question it. Looking around the battle field it was obvious.

Not only had we managed to hold the front but a very good chunk of Malefor's forces lie dead. It hurt me a little because they were one human. But if they didn't go back to human after defeat it ment that that part of them was gone.

I met up with every one at the front gate and we looked at all the other dragons that took part in the defense. We knew one thing we wouldn't last another attack. It left use with one option. Going after Malefor.
