Chapter 22: Malefor's fall.
(Chronicler)
It was unexpected to see. It was very unsettling. One of the books Came flying off the shelf. I went to it seeing that it was River's book. I opened it up and saw something that made my heart sink.
Burn has been defeated in fighting the dark lord. The lines I was reading were just unsettling. Burn was dead no question. IT ment I had to do something I never wished to do.
I walked up to the entrance and stopped the soul coming threw. I knew it was his. I touched it. "The book says your times not up. You may be dead but you have one final chance but a very long time from know. When you see your medallion again you shall remember every thing but until then I send you home to live a normal human life young hero." I said. And with that it vanished. I looked back in the book and I saw I was right.
The book had continued past its point or Burns death. River was now back home with his mom both having no memory of his brother's real death or that River was ever involved in this conflict.
My heart was going out to Winter. The person she loved. The person she wanted to be with died defending her and every one. I looked at the two books that came out with his. Spyro and Corbin stretched further past Malefor. They were to defeat him and make home here.
It was finally going to end but at a great cost to us. "Ignitus I think its time you rest you old dragon you." A voice said. I smiled at Maria. "I still don't understand why you came to me." I said.
"I came here because I don't want to be any where near that Ex of mine plus I feel safe here." She said. I nodded. "Ok ill rest but you must go to your room to." I said. Maria nodded.
(Corbin)
"MALEFOR!" I screamed. It was past the point for my anger. My best friend that believed in me and even helped me be me again was gone. I didn't notice any thing had happened until Spyro gasped.
I looked myself over and saw I was a dragon again but I was shadow's color. But this time I had control. I looked at Malefor pissed as hell. He took a shot that could have killed me.
He died so I would live. He lost it all, Winter lost it all. She lost her Mate and now she's stuck raising the kids alone. I was not going to let malefor get away with this. I was going to kill him.
"YOU CROSSED THE LINE YOU EVIL LIZARD!" I yelled. "So much anger in that voice shadow. I take it your going to try and take me on alone to." Malefor said. I looked at Spyro and he nodded.
"No chance you pitiful excuse for a dragon." I said. "YOU DARE CALL ME SUCH A THING" Malefor said. I nodded. "Spyro and I are going to kill you. You have caused to much pain and suffering to be left to live." I said.
And with that we attacked Malefor. We may have been weaker separate but I knew together we could kill him. I grabbed his wings and pulled hard with my claws hearing a snap as Spyro kept his attention with Fire blasts.
I knew once the snap was heard he felt it. I jumped off letting him scream in pain. His wings were broken telling us both that he couldn't escape. "You will die for that you whelp." Malefor said.
But we dodged his tail and I lunged mine into his side causing him to scream. Spyro came behind him using his earth element on his back. Malefor blew this dark breath at him but he used his wings to block.
I watched as Spyro landed next to me and I had an idea. "Spyro give me your tail." I said. "What why?!" He said. I looked at him with a serious face and he did as I asked. I grabbed his tail with mine and we both charged at Malefor.
As soon as we hit his legs he fell over with a roar. As soon as he het the ground I slashed my claws across his eye. "AAAH YOU WILL PAY" He bellowed. But that was an empty threat as far as I was concerned.
As soon as he got up me and Spyro kept up the assault dodging and attacking him as he tried to come at us. It came to a point were we both head butted him against a tree and we could see he was beaten.
I came up looking at him. "You...can not...defeat me!" He said still sure. I placed my claws to his throat. Theres no more imprisonment Malefor. You forgot not Dragon could kill you. But Im no dragon." I said. I felt metal replace my claws and I cut across his throat.
I watched as he held it trying to breath but it was impossible. I went back up to his body and grabbed his head. "Corbin! STOP!" Spyro said. I looked at him with rag filled eyes. "Why he should be made and example off. He killed Burn." I said.
"Your right he did but he's dead Corbin I don't think taking his head will do anything." Spyro said. I looked at him and I swung my tail behind me not realizing I cut down several tree's. "HE TOOK EVERY THING FROM WINTER SPYRO RIVER"S DEAD" I screamed.
"I know but if he didn't take that blast you would be dead and not him. He gave up his life so you wouldn't die. He didn't was to lose another friend to that monster." Spyro said. After hearing that I calmed.
"Spyro how are we going to tell her she is going to be crushed." I said. "I know but we cant do anything about it" Spyro said. I nodded and looked at the sky seeing the sunsetting in the distance.
"Its finally over isn't it Spyro?" I asked. He nodded "It is Malefor's gone for good and both our worlds are safe. They'll separate soon." Spyro said. We turned and looked at Burn lying on the ground.
I looked at Spyro to see him crying a little. "He was a good friend one that I wont ever forget." He said. I nodded. "Where ever he is Spyro I Think he was happy to have been every ones friend." I said. He nodded.
As the day came to a close in that valley I had helped Spyro place burn on his back and we headed back to War-fang for the worst possible news that we would ever have to deliver.
-(Spyro)
7 hours later-
We had walked 3 hours from the valley to get to war fang. I was glad to see Cynder waiting for us at the gate along with the Guardians. they all came running but all stopped. I could tell they could see Burn on my back.
What was worse was the fact that at the time Winter was waiting behind the gate. Cynder came up to me first looking at Burn. As soon as I told her she broke down. Cynder the strongest person I knew cried.
The guardians looked as if they were missing apart of them that they could never replace. We had all walked inside and when Winter saw Corbin and me she was happy but it soon turned into a look of utter horror.
It didn't take long for her to realize who it was on my back lying dead. She nuzzled him not wanting to leave crying for a long time. I think we all cried when Winter learned the truth about Burn.
Later during the night the whole city gathered on the main road. We had laid Burn's body on a wooden plank that Corbin, Flame, Winter, and I were carrying. Torches lit the way on the road to the temple.
We had carried his body to the platform that was waiting at the end with the whole city watching as we placed a hero for his final rest. As we set him down Terrador choose to say a few words for burn.
"Although his time among was was small. We all can agree that the once human River who became the dragon Burn was a strong warrior that would protect friends and family's alike. He did every thing in his power for family and for his friends. We shall always remember him as a True dragon of war-fang." Terrador said.
AS we set him and walked away Winter nuzzled him one last time crying. I could see she was wearing the necklace that Burn had given her. I could hear her say the last things she would ever say to him. "Goodbye River. I love you."
I pulled her away as Flame me and Ember blew a steady Fire on his pedestal setting it a blaze. It was they way he had made us promise to take his body to rest. It was a hard thing to do but we still did it. I held Winter close looking at Cynder who was standing next to me.
She seemed to take it pretty hard. "I Should have gone with you guys he would still be alive." Winter said. I kissed her cheek" Winter it wouldn't have changed the outcome. He would have taken that shot for you as well I said.
She nodded and we all watched as Burn went up in flames inside the dragon Temple. I felt like I could still here him laughing and I could feel myself crying. "Goodbye my friend may you rest in peace." I said.
And as the moon rose over the walls of the temple the the ashes of the fire flew into the sky taking Burn's spirit to rest. And the wind blew giving a howling sound as if the world was sad that a hero had died.
