Chapter 9

A loud snap made Ivy jump out of her skin. She had been so focused on the clock now pointing directly at six that the noise had made them all jump. A great pain surged in Ivy's ankle and she doubled over at the agonising thumping of her ankle and froze. The manacle round her leg had snapped itself cleanly in two, releasing her. She was free. The patch of ankle where the restraint had been was red raw and bleeding steadily onto the tiles, she shivered violently at the gruesome image before instinct took over and she bolted towards the bathroom door, ignoring the pain in her ankle screaming at her to stop. She decided to take the long way round, past Adam in case Lawrence decided to make a sudden move at her. She reached the industrial bathroom door, which was just as grimy as the rest of the hellhole and shoved against it with all her might.

"Jesus Christ Ivy!" Shouted Adam, a look of incredulity on his face. He was staring at her open mouthed. Lawrence was still staring at the clock.

Ivy pushed and shoved against the door, her shoulder was now screaming out in pain along with her ankle, her desperation for freedom, for something new to look at was overwhelming. Finally she had no choice but to give up. "It's locked." She said in anger, all her previous energy was completely spent and she slumped down the door miserably. It was as if someone had pulled the plug in her own body, she was still trapped in here. Tears sprung quickly into her eyes and Lawrence was still staring at the clock, almost morbidly.

"We've done it." Whispered Adam, his face alternating between shock and pure happiness. He positively beamed at Ivy who returned it half-heartedly.

"You're not free." Muttered Lawrence, his eyes intent on the clock.

"Uh yeah. Remember she had to protect me till the time's up and the time is up so now we're both free." Stated Adam in a 'your stupid' tone of voice.

"Only she's free. You said it yourself. She had to protect you till six, but the tape didn't say anything about helping you after six."

Adam spluttered turning towards Ivy for help. "Bu...but your tape said that after six. That if you didn't kill me before six that your wife and kid would..."

"Don't you dare remind me of that!" Shrieked Lawrence, his voice so deadly Ivy backed away from him into the foreign part of the bathroom none of them had been able to reach soon.

Adam was examining his shackle again, "Look there's a keyhole so I must be getting the key to get me out of here." He explained quickly and Ivy nodded. He turned to her, "You don't have the key do you?"

"If I had it I would have given it to you wouldn't I?" Asked Ivy in confusion, all she wanted was to be out of here.

"I dunno, enough stuffs been concealed already." Shrugged Adam and he carried on inspecting his bindings. "Well since you can, come and help me find the key then. Or maybe they'll give it to me." He pondered as his hands flitted over the tiles like spiders. Figuring she had nothing better to do than to help Adam, Ivy began to walk back over towards Adam when the cellphone began to ring again.

Lawrence snapped it open at once, "Is that you, Zep? You bastard! I know it's you, you son of a bitch!"

Adam and Ivy had both frozen, not expecting the phone to ring again. Lawrence was listening intently his face crumpled with confusion. "Ali? Hello? Ali! Honey, are you alright?" We all listened for the reply, Lawrence's wife was on the phone with him which meant the attacker was somewhere near her. "I don't know. I'm being held captive in a room somewhere."

"Don't mention us." Muttered Adam in Ivy's ear and she nodded bitterly.

"I'm so sorry, Ali. I'm sorry for everything. It's my fault. Please forgive me. I've always been happy with you." Tears had started to spill down Lawrence's face as his face contorted in horror as the phone filled with commotion. You could hear it echoing all the way through the bathroom. "Ali!"

Gunshot sounded from the phone and Lawrence howled in terrified horror. Ivy could only imagine the images flashing through his head as she backed back into her own corner, terrified again. Lawrence's crying leered at her through the bathroom, reaching the very core of her as she drew her knees up round her again as the gunshots kept firing from the phone. "Lawrence!" She cried as tears blinded her own vision again as Lawrence splayed on the floor sobbing and moaning horrendously as he heard what was most likely his family being murdered in cold blood. The gunshots coupled with Allison and Diana's screaming were enough to drive Ivy insane, never mind the poor man in front of her. Ivy cuddled up to the sink, wanting to block out all sounds of the terror, Lawrence and the bathroom. Adam too was trying to comfort the distraught man, but his chain would not allow him. Ivy pressed herself tighter and tighter to the sink, squeezing her eyes shut till a buzzing sound filled the bathroom. She snapped her eyes open, the buzzing menacing and sizzling, Adam was screaming meaning it could not be coming from him. Her blood ran cold as she felt the top of her head pressing against one of her shock buttons beneath the sink. She scrambled away from the sink as quickly as possible and saw Lawrence lying flat on his back, unmoving.

"Lawrence!" She screamed, joining in with Adam.

"Lawrence, get up!" He cried now throwing debris across the bathroom to try and wake the Doctor up. Ivy ran over to Lawrence's body, fear choking her. She couldn't have killed him could she? His family needed him now more than ever.

"Lawrence please. I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to." She cried, shaking the body, more tears slipping down her cheeks. "We need you."

Slowly, very groggily, Lawrence began to stir and open his eyes.

"Thank God! I thought you were dead." Cried Adam, his voice hysterical as Ivy helped Lawrence slowly sit up. She could imagine how horrid it was to wake up again in this hovel.

"He electrocuted me." Groaned Lawrence, his voice was hoarse and a surge of pity and guilt ran through her.

"I told you." Said Adam, finally feeling vindicated. "The same thing happened to me, see? I wasn't lying but..." Slowly, Adam turned towards Ivy. "What did you say before?"

Ivy paused, "What?"

Adam's eyes hardened as he swept his gaze over her free ankle and then over to the sink she had threw herself away from so quickly. He had put two and two together. "Holy shit. You did it. You electrocuted Lawrence. You electrocuted me!"

Ivy knew there was no point in trying to deny it. She closed her eyes very slowly and backed away from the two men. She turned to look at Lawrence who was staring at her wildly, he too was lost for words. "Lawrence I'm so sorry." She whispered, glancing from the billowing Photographer to the senile Doctor. "I didn't mean to electrocute you."

"Bullshit, like you didn't mean to electrocute me." Snarled Adam. Ivy swallowed loudly not quite believing how quickly the person she was meant to be protecting had turned on her.

"But I didn't mean to hurt Larry." She cried bending down to the Doctor's level so as to better reason with him. "I would never intentionally try and hurt you after you just heard all that."

"I wish you had." Moaned Lawrence as he turned his tortured eyes up to meet her own. "They're already dead, I could join them."

"They are not dead Lawrence." Ivy pleaded feeling brave enough to crawl forwards towards him, avoiding the blood all the while. "You cannot let yourself believe that or we'll never get out."

"You're already out!" Shouted Adam trying to advance on her, his manacle stopping him all the while. "Your free, off you go. Leave us here to die." He shouted manically, waving his arms around.

"Don't be so stupid." Snapped Ivy as she stood up again. "I'm no more free than you are. I didn't mean to electrocute you Lawrence, as I sat down the top of my head hit the button to...well shock you."

Lawrence continued his bout of silence, his eyes staring horror-struck at the phone. Tear tracks still trickling down his ashen face.

"What about me? You meant to get me then." Asked Adam, his voice rising at Ivy's lack of attention.

"Well to be honest Adam, yes I did." Shouted Ivy angrily; she wanted nothing more than to get out of this stinking bathroom. Wasn't it such a simple ask? Adam was gaping at her open mouthed, astonished at her astute bluntness. "Oh come on, remember my tape? I was meant to protect you wasn't I? If you had been killed then that would have doomed me to this bathroom wouldn't it?"

"No you've just doomed me instead!" Adam's eyes were incensed, he kept trying to move closer to Ivy but she was smart enough to keep far out of the way of his out clutched hands.

"Look when you started coughing and just lying there, I panicked and just, well, pressed it. As soon as it happened I stopped it."

"Yeah, yeah. Some protector you've turned out to be."

"Adam I'm sorry..." Ivy began.

"Save it."

"Fuck this shit!"

The cry was so loud and so full of insane rage that both Ivy and Adam jumped. They had both forgotten about Lawrence who had been trying with every effort left in his body to try and remove the shackle from his ankle again, howling occasionally in pain. He had finally been forced to give up again. Another bolt of fear racketed through Ivy as the phone began to ring shrilly through the bathroom again and Lawrence desperately flung himself on the floor trying desperately to use the box the phone had came in to reach it. "NOOOOOOOO." His cries of misery and agony radiated off the tiles and Ivy closed her eyes against the noise.

"What are you doing?" Shouted Adam and it took Ivy a moment to realise that he was yelling at her. "Help him!"

Ivy turned to stare at the desolate Doctor and then to the door and her best hope at freedom. Allison and Diana will die...and I'll leave you in this room to rot. It was as if a very large, very slippery snake was slithering up the inside of her body, its body making a sickening, hissing sound as it wrapped itself torturously round her mind. She continued to stare at the writhing Doctor on the floor. Ivy could hear Adam yelling at her again but she no longer cared.

"Game over." She whispered.

"What the fuck?" Cried Adam, half confused and half disgusted. "Ivy he's gonna die!"

"And so will we if I give him that phone." She retorted selfishly. She was staring at Lawrence who was wrapped up in his world of misery and torment. "The point of this game was to play by the fucking rules, and he failed and I won." She said dangerously, her eyes glimmering strangely in the darkness.

"Ivy please." Moaned the Doctor as he continued to scrabble for the phone.

"That's sick." Roared Adam.

"You want to live or not Adam? His families dead as it is, we both heard those gunshots coming from the phone. The poor sod is best to follow them and get out quickly."

Lawrence erupted into a fresh bout of sobs and tears as he half registered her evil words. "Oh my god." He bawled afresh.

"Lawrence don't listen to that bitch." Adam said in what he thought was a sympathetic voice despite his evident fear. Lawrence was slamming his fists on the tiled floor again and again, losing the tiny strands of sanity he had left as he slow began to go very slowly insane in the bathroom. The phone had stopped ringing now, emphasising the desolation of the room. "Lawrence calm down." Tried Adam again, a little more control in his voice. "There must be a way out of this."

"SHUT UP, JUST SHUT UP!"

A pang of guilt hit Ivy as she looked into the agonised father's eyes. The blue was shining brighter than ever, distorted in the haze of tears still gushing down his face. "My family needs me." He blubbered pleading to both Ivy and Adam.

"Going mental is not going to help you Lawrence." Ivy called, feeling a tad sorrier for the Doctor in what she hoped had not been a jeering tone.

"NO!" Lawrence began to make jagged screams and cries of mercy and desperation as he quickly latched onto his shackle again and tugged it again with brute voice. His screams were continuous and Ivy could hear the strain on his vocal chords and she copied Adam and put her hands over her ears, to block out both the noise and the hideous guilt that had replaced the snake of malice that had coiled around her before.

"Lawrence I have a family too." Reasoned Adam trying to be heard above the screams of pure mental agony emanating from Lawrence Gordon. He sounded as if he was being tortured alive. The phone began ringing once again and Ivy wanted nothing more than to fling it across the bathroom to silence it forever as Lawrence continued screaming above all the racket. Ivy felt frozen to the spot near her piping wondering whether another good shock would shake Lawrence out of his delirium. Something hot and wet began sliding down her own face and she raised a shaking hand to touch her tender face. It was wet. And without another thought she burst into tears herself as she stared piteously at Lawrence.

"Stop it." Begged Adam as he too began to break down too, his voice quivering again. Grunting insanely with no intention to try and quiet his sounds Lawrence ripped off his powder blue coatroom. "Calm down. Just calm down. There's a way out of here!" Shrieked Adam, trying desperately to advance nearer to Lawrence, his chain stopping him. Ivy herself was content to watch the dreadful scene unfold tucked away in her corner and for once she wished she was chained away on the other side of the bathroom. But the Doctor could no longer hear Adam or think clearly. He was tying the shirt round the ankle in the shackle. Adam's face contorted into one of pure sickening horror as he tried to guess what the frenzied Doctor was about to do. Ivy didn't need to guess. A feeling of the utmost dread similar to what she had experienced on first waking up in the bathroom had swum over her again, but this time it was ten times worse.

"Lawrence, no what are you doing?" Moaned Adam as he watched hopelessly as Lawrence put the sleeve of his shirt in his mouth. Bile ran up Ivy's throat and she had to physically stop it as he raised the hacksaw into her field of view.

"Lawrence don't!" She screamed piercingly through the demented bathroom as the Doctor brought the saw down on his own foot. She and Adam both screamed like they had never screamed before. She did not know she was capable of making such a despicable sound as the man before her began to saw through flesh, bone, sinews and muscle. The saw made a squelching sound as it perforated the skin and Adam's eyes bulged out of their sockets. Lawrence wasn't making half as much racket as we were, methodical grunts of agony were heard through the self-made gag as if it was just another patient he was operating on. Ivy turned away towards the sinks feeling very sick as the metallic smell of blood began to fill the filthy bathroom. Seeing the knife still laid there hidden away she thought about plunging it through the Doctor and sparing him but disregarded it quickly as Adam's screams intensified again. She would not dare look. She couldn't. Adam had sunk to his knees still watching the gory display in front of him. Watching the poor young man wasn't much better as his face told Ivy eons more than the image itself as the thickening smell of blood began to wash over towards her like a poisonous gas, till it was all she could breath. Finally she heard the sound of the weapon-like saw being hurtled across the bathroom to hit the tiles with a nasty plinking noise.

Ivy wheeled back round and stared at the bloody stump that once had a foot attached to it and prominently threw up in the sink next to her knife, all over her FBI badge. The stench of vomit as well as blood filled the air as she wiped her mouth and turned back round as Adam shrieked again, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Lawrence had crawled pathetically, covered in blood towards the bullet on the floor and was inserting it into the revolver in the corpse's hand. His hand was shaking terribly and still Ivy found herself moving slowly towards the desolate Doctor. "Oh my god!" Adam was beside himself as the realisation dawned upon him. Ivy too knew what was going through Lawrence's mind and panic began to rise like bile in her throat and she willed herself not to be sick again. "Lawrence, don't. NO!" Adam kept on begging and pleading his eyes wide in fear and still shining from the tears. In a quick snap Ivy had dropped to her knees, her right sinking disgustingly into the blood.

"Lawrence please." She whispered, placing her own quivering hand on top of his own bloody one. "You don't want to do this."

He bended his eyes very slowly on me, as if this was a scene in a horror movie. His eyes were startlingly vacant and distant, completely lacking the keen glint Lawrence had previously owned. "I must, Ivy." He whispered, his voice hardly capable of speaking above a whisper himself due to all his screaming while performing the bloody ordeal. "Stand aside." The smell of blood was so overwhelmingly powerful it was taking a great deal of willpower on Ivy's part not to stare at what had been the Doctor's foot.

"Lawrence please. I'm begging you." Pleaded Adam, his voice choking on itself as the young man began to shield himself with his hands, as if it would do him any good. The tear tracks on his face matched the ones on Ivy's as he cried pathetically in his corner. In that moment Ivy wanted nothing more than to wrap her arms tightly around the young man who had made her experience such a range of emotions while they were shut up here. They had been thrown together unexpectedly. Ivy's duty had been to protect him and a huge part of her still felt that bond to Adam. But Lawrence was raising himself up onto his forearms so as to aim better and was pointing the gun straight at Adam.

"LAWRENCE!" Ivy screamed, torn between her urge to run over and protect Adam and her animal instincts that told her to follow Lawrence's advice and stay out of it. If she protected Adam she could be killed in the process, but not helping him would mean she had allowed a, rather innocent man to die in front of her eyes. Which was an act worse than the crimes they had been sentenced to the bathroom for.

"Lawrence it's not me who did this to you!" Begged Adam, his voice spiking in horrified dread as he stared at the killer in front of him. He turned to Ivy and held a hand out to her, "Ivy please. Please you have to help me. I don't deserve this do I? Jesus Christ I never wanted any of this shit. Please. Please I'm not ready to die."

More tears were filling Ivy's eyes as she took a few steps away from Lawrence and back towards the sinks. Now was the time to use her secret weapon. It was time for the knife. She picked it up steadily and held it behind her back with every intention to place it under the Doctor's chin so he would be forced not to pull the trigger. But Lawrence cocked the gun, taking the safety off. Adam was trying to move from side to side, as far as his chain would let him trying to dodge the inevitable bullet that was centred on his heart.

"You have to die." There were great rings of dirt and strain round Lawrence's eyes, combined with the dirt in his hair and on his skin, his now fully formed bruise and his white, blood stained shirt he looked like some sort of terror inducing apparition. A grim reaper of white.

"NO. NO I WANT TO LIVE! I WANT TO LIVE, IVY!" Screamed Adam at the top of his voice, still moving left and right all the while. A hand was still held out to Ivy and she was fighting every urge in her body to not run over and take it. Even breaking Adam free would do no good with that gun targeted on him. What if Lawrence tried to get her out of the way with the bullet instead and then murder Adam some other way. The knife was trembling behind her back, the tip pressing ever so slightly into her vest.

"Adam I'm trying." She reasoned earnestly. "I'm trying." She repeated looking from Adam to the ghost-like Lawrence.

"I'm sorry." Croaked Lawrence the gun now completely trained on Adam.

"I WANT TO LIVE!"

"My family..." Explained summing up all his reasons in those two words. Adam's hands rose to cover his face, though still peeking out through his fingers.

Abandoning all thoughts for her own safety Ivy dropped the knife back into the sink with a clattering noise, not heard over Adam's pleas for freedom and tore the short distance towards the nearly incapacitated Doctor. Her arm connecting with the hand that held the gun she shoved the gun violently to the left as the shot rang out through the eerie bathroom. The force behind her push had been so violent that she had taken herself and Lawrence to the floor as a heavy, sickening thud rang out a short distance away from them. Her forehead was screaming in pain as Ivy gravely looked up. Her heart clenched tightly as she saw Adam lying before her on his front. She abandoned the heaving, sobbing Doctor on the floor and ran over to Adam, crashing to the floor beside him.

"Adam. Adam!" She shook him gently, then a little harder as her desperation mounted. Adam wasn't moving a muscle. "Oh my god!" She cried as fresh tears broke out again and she pressed her face into the back of Adam's t-shirt, letting her sobs mix with the killer opposite her.

"THERE. I'VE DONE IT. WE'VE BOTH DONE OUR PARTS. NOW WHERE'S MY FAMILY?" Lawrence shouted to the camera behind the plastic, as if Jigsaw was going to pop out from the fake window. Ivy continued to lie with her face buried into Adam's shirt as her sobs slowly began to subside, her mind trying to grasp the new situation. She and Lawrence were the survivors of this deadly game. Both had complied and succeeded where Adam had failed, not that the poor photographer had ever had much of a chance anyway. Surely Jigsaw hadn't intended Lawrence and herself to survive or he wouldn't have put them against each other originally would he? Her fellow survivor was silent, not having moved from the stop he pulled the trigger on Adam from. All she had wanted was for the three of them to get out of this bathroom together.

Her thoughts were broken by the very sound she had wanted more than anything else in the world an hour ago. The bathroom door had opened and someone's footsteps were coming closer and closer to them. She raised her head slightly to take in the new visitor. Ivy did not recognise the man and it was very unlikely that this man before her was the infamous Jigsaw Killer she had studied so thoroughly. He was very weedy with spikey black hair and dressed all in black. He looked like a cross between a bank robber and a rat. The comparison did relieve Ivy's fear at all. But Lawrence obviously did recognise the man.

"You bastard! I'll fucking kill you." But being one foot short now and only able to crawl about on his stomach, Lawrence did not look so threatening anymore as he kept repeating those words again and again. He latched himself onto the mystery man's leg as if he was trying to pull him down onto the floor with him. Then Ivy realised that this was the man from the photo Adam had taken. The one that had stood out from all the rest. Zepp; the orderly that had been seen at Lawrence's home.

Zepp shook Lawrence off as if he was no more than an irritating fly and began to cross over to Ivy who covered Adam's body a little more with her own. Lawrence was trying to shoot him with the gun, but with no more bullets Lawrence was out of ideas and weapons. Zepp's eyes swept over her in an appreciating manner and gave her a disturbing smile. His eyes seemed to permanently bulge like a blowfish. "Congratulations." Zepp gave her a mocking bow, his eyes never leaving her. "You won, Ivy." He said her name with something akin to a purr and goosebumps covered Ivy's skin. She clenched Adam a little tighter. Zepp raised an eyebrow in surprise before shaking his head. "Move." He instructed and Ivy saw another gun in his hand, most likely with a whole barrel of bullets. She had no choice but to comply and slowly she moved away from Adam's body back to her favourite place by the sink. Zepp kicked Adam in the ribs a few times to check he was really dead. He decided the young man was indeed dead, but shook his head and pointed his gun at Lawrence. The Doctor looked destroyed as the gun was aimed at his head, he like Ivy had no idea why he was being condemned to die.

"Your too late." Zepp told Lawrence, his gun hand outstretched.

"What do you mean he's too late? He did it." Protested Ivy.

Lawrence was going paler and paler as his bleeding stump continued to bleed out onto the tiles.

"It's the rules." Said Zepp simply.

"You can't! Your not Jigsaw." Shouted Ivy, not understanding why Lawrence had to die too. Her voice was shaking again. She did not want to be left alone with this weird man who was willing to kill someone just cause they hadn't followed Jigsaw's rules.

"I have to." Snapped Zepp, momentarily glancing at her. "He was meant to kill him before six o'clock. He failed to do it."

Panicking again Ivy clutched the knife in the sink again and finally brandished it in front of her. She changed her grip so it would be easy to sink it into Zepp's flesh if he dared to move a muscle. "Don't you fucking dare." She spat menacingly at Zepp.

Lawrence was staring at her open mouthed, clearly wondering how long she had kept that knife hidden and where. Zepp looked thoroughly surprised by this little snag in his rules. He stared at the knife and then at the Doctor wondering if he could do it quickly, as Ivy would have to step over the dead corpse lying in the middle of the room to do so. But Ivy was already thinking ahead and was swiftly moving round past Lawrence advancing on Zepp so he had to keep both of them in sight at once. But she hadn't counted on Zepp pointing the gun at her. "Get outta the way." He warned her, pointing the gun for extra emphasis.

"No."

"GET OUT OF THE WAY OR I WILL SHOOT."

"NOOOOOOOO!" The huge cry burst from behind the three of them and to Ivy and Lawrence's surprise Zepp's legs were pulled out from beneath him and he was slammed to the floor. Adam was violently fighting the orderly, the pair writhing around on the floor as Adam tried to force the gun out of Zepp's hand. Once again Ivy found herself frozen to the ground in the relief and utter surprise that Adam wasn't yet dead. Gunshots were going off in every direction and Ivy screamed in fear.

"ADAM!"

But Adam would not, or could not obey her. He kept on thrashing with Zepp yelling in the agony of his gunshot wound and his exhaustion while disarming the man as Zepp's gun went flying across the room. Ivy hurried over to retrieve both the gun and her fallen knife that she had dropped the moment Adam had regained consciousness. Adam sunk a nasty punch into Zepp's rat-like face and with another cry of sheer bloodlust, Ivy could practically hear the blood pounding in his own eyes. They looked as incensed as Lawrence's had been. Adam scrambled to pick up the toilet lid and with all the strength left in his body brought it down on Zepp's face. Blood spurted out of Zepp's face in waves as Adam continued to bring the toilet seat down on any part of Zepp's head he could hit. Ivy screamed and tore to Adam's side.

"Adam stop it! Stop it!" She begged as the crunching noises began to reveal bone and the light slowly began to dim from Zepp's eyes. Blood was everywhere, issuing from Zepp's now unrecognisable face and from the toilet lid and from Adam's own white shirt. Lawrence too was trying to crawl over to Adam while shielding his eyes from the horrific sight. As if sawing off his own foot hadn't been gruesome enough to let them not feel anything anymore. Adam began to tire as he brought the lid down sluggishly but never stopping his relentless onslaught. Seeing her reflection in the shining silver knife in her left hand, Ivy closed her eyes as Zepp made gurgling noise of agony. She knew he was a dead man and so put an arm out to cease Adam's beatings and, closing her eyes sank the knife into Zepp's chest. After a moment in which Adam cried out anew in from the pain of his wound Ivy opened her eyes. Zepp was dead.

She turned towards Adam knowing he was now the priority to see his shoulder covered in blood. Her heart beat faster at the copious amounts spilling down onto his chest. By pushing the gun ot the side she had saved Adam's life, meaning the bullet had lodged itself in his shoulder and not his chest. Ivy gently reached out a hand and placed it very gently on Adam's arm while her other covered his wound. He was crying again from the pain. "Adam, it's over." She whispered in what she hoped was a motherly voice.

Very gently she cupped his face in her hands so the top of Adam's head rested against hers. He was looking her in the eyes, pleading with those blue orbs. "It's alright Adam." She whispered again running a soothing hand through his hair. "You're going to be alright."

Lawrence too had finally reached them as he cast his medical eye over Adam's wound. "You're just wounded in the shoulder."

Ivy clucking her tongue at his simplicity cast her eye back over Adam's shackle and then to Lawrence's bleeding stump. Dread filled her as the knowledge that she was once again caught between a rock and a hard place. If she followed her heart and stayed with Adam, then Lawrence would surely die as he was nearly passing out as it was and maybe Adam and herself as well. But if she followed her head she just might be able to save Lawrence and herself and come back for Adam with the authorities. But I don't want to leave him all on his own. Her head was making a lot more sense than her heart and so she said "If I don't help Lawrence and get help, he's going to bleed to death."

"Don't leave me." Begged Adam his voice quaking with desperation and need as his grip tightened round Ivy's figure as he dragged her even closer. Ivy's heart constricted in her chest as she cradled Adam in her arms, but Lawrence's breathing was becoming more and more laboured. "We'll come and get you Adam." She told him gently, brushing his tears away with her thumbs. As he choked out another sob she very gently pressed her lips against his cold ones, letting her eyes slip closed as she held his lips to her own. It took every fibre in her being to tear herself away from Adam and to rip the knife out of Zepp's chest to use as her own weapon, leaving the gun behind for Adam. She heaved an arm around Lawrence's shuddering form to help him into a standing position. His stump leaving a blood trail behind us. Adam, finally recovering from Ivy's kiss screamed again in terror as we began to move away from him.

"NOOOOOOO! IVY PLEASE!" Tears erupted again like a fountain as she screwed her eyes shut against her internal battle.

Lawrence turned in her grip to speak to Adam once more, "Don't worry, we'll bring someone back. I promise." He told the young photographer and Ivy frowned at his words.

"We'll try." Ivy added quickly as she turned the Doctor back around so she wouldn't have to face Adam's face.

"LAWRENCE. IVY!" Ivy stopped in her tracks as tears she had been trying so hard to contain gushed down her cheeks. She had never cried so much in her life. Her eyes met Adam's again and she wanted nothing more than to feel his body's warmth against her own again. "We're going to be okay?" He asked her in a trembling voice, a spark of hope in his voice as he implored to her.

She opened her mouth to answer, despite her trembling lips but Lawrence answered for her. "I wouldn't lie to you."

Feeling that Lawrence's somewhat debatable promise was probably the best way to leave Adam, some hope being better than no hope Ivy began to help Lawrence out of the desolate room that stunk highly of blood, sweat and grime. They very slowly began to make their way down the corridor, their hearts beating fast in fear of the unknown that could be lurking round any corner; abandoning Adam to the clutches of the bathroom behind them. She felt a great weight drop from the lasso round her heart to the pit of her stomach feeling that Adam was in an even more dangerous position than they were.
