The end of Saw 2 comes, it's crazy to think how short this game really is in chapter terms.

More mysteries come to light.

Enjoy!

Chapter 20

"Your gonna take me right now, right now." Eric said the gun till pressing against John's windpipe.

"I'll only take you, no one else." John instructed struggling to breath and Ivy began to believe the assault was going to kill him. He won't make it to find the house. Eric glanced at Ivy who had been biting her lips so hard to keep the screams from coming her lips were all torn and bleeding, blood dripping down her chin and onto her shirt. Her eyes were vacant and she was rocking slightly in fear, she knew her orders. She wouldn't have gone with the mad Detective even if it did mean the deaths of Amanda and Daniel. Allison was busy with the tech team.

"Alright me and you. How do we get out of here?" Eric asked the brutality out of his voice now as he stood up.

"There's a button on the wall." John said through gasps of air. Ivy attempted to crawl over and help him in her delirious state. "Stay there Ivy." John warned, "But thank you for all you did." Ivy nodded and crawled back to her space straight away. He looked back at Matthews, "Hurry, there's not much time left."

Eric pressed the button instantly and the section of floor John was lying underneath began to sink straight away with Eric and the Jigsaw killer slowly going down in what now looked like some sort of bizzare elevator. Ivy watched on helplessly as they began to disappear from her view. She knew this would be the last glimpse she ever saw of Eric Matthews and she was grateful there had been not a single sentimental fibre for him in her body. Allison and the SWAT team realised too late, only looking up when the gears had begun to whir and were too late to follow the pair through the fencing that had arisen.

Allison ran over to check Ivy. "Jesus Christ your bleeding." She said blankly as she helped the quivering woman back onto her feet. "Come one I need you in that room. It won't be long till this is over." She assured Ivy as she helped her back into the monitor room, Ivy held a hand to her burning cheek. It felt as if it had been set on fire, the skin tingling constantly and it hurt to touch.

"Hey we've got a lock." Announced one of the tech team and Allison snatched up her own walkie talkie to radio Rigg and the SWAT team who had set off in hot pursuit of Eric and John.

"This is Kerry we've got a lock on the house." She radioed in, but Ivy didn't care about the tech team at all she was looking at the monitors where the woman named Addison was dead in the room Amanda had checked out previously marked 'GUS'. Ivy paused for a moment before moving wordlessly past the tech team to snatch up the identical picture on the large post it. She stared at the picture and took Kerry's hand and dragged her over to the screen in question.

Allison peered at the monitor. "Shit I didn't know she was dead too." She muttered just as Ivy put the post it next to the screen so Allison could see the identical match. Allison stared between both of them.

"He's been giving us clues all along." Ivy said morosely as she looked at the dead woman. Allison walked out to the work stations and began flicking through the designs and held up a picture of the needle pit from earlier. Ivy nodded a severe expression on her face as she walked over to a wall and took a picture of what looked like another trap combined with a waffle iron. On the design was the name Addison. "I'll admit I didn't spot it until I saw you looking at that post it note earlier, but we paid too much attention to what was going on and not what was right around us. There are always so many clues around us usually, it was the same in the bathroom." She told Allison who nodded her eyes wide and sad as she peered at the pictures.

"I bet we could find every trap in that game somewhere in here." Allison said as Ivy tore down a design for the gun in the eyehole trap that had claimed the first victim.

"Kerry! Kerry we got a lock on the house." Cried the same tech guy, most likely the head of the squad and Kerry ran over to send it to the SWAT team.

"Rigg we got it." She said coming back into the room, Ivy walked into the room slowly and began looking round wondering amusedly if she could spot anymore clues they had been ignorant enough to overlook. "237 North Hyde Crescent. Ivy watch the screens and tell me when you see them." Ivy obeyed her just for something to do, she had more or less given up now on this whole affair. She couldn't believe that Amanda and Daniel were still on the run from Xavier and were back in the first room. They were trying to bar the door from the incensed drug dealer and Ivy's heart leaped as her eyes widened when she understood there was nowhere else for them to go. It was all or nothing now, either Amanda and Daniel could overpower Xavier with that nail bat or he would walk out the lone victor; and if Xavier was going to be the survivor Ivy would happily tell Allison next to her everything she knew. She would fail her game, for he wasn't worth saving in her opinion. He was a lone wolf who acted like a bully and never attempted to work with anyone, he was responsible for one of the deaths and Ivy would not grant him life. Where the fuck is that trapdoor? Ivy couldn't believe Amanda had forgotten about it. Finally Amanda leaped forwards and began to push against the safe before getting Daniel to help her.

"Where's the key?" She screamed as Xavier pummelled at the door with the gun attached. Finally. Ivy thought as Daniel with a stroke of pure luck removed the key from Jonas' pocket and the two disappeared down the trapdoor.

"Any sign of Rigg and his team?" Kerry asked and Ivy jumped remembering she was meant to be on the look out for Rigg. She peered at the screens, "No, no sign of them." She told Allison who swore viciously. "Amanda and Daniel are in the basement." Ivy reported and Kerry frowned.

"What?" She came over in confusion and Ivy gestured with her hand at the fleeing figures. "I didn't know there was a frigging basement." She cried out in frustration flinging her hands up in the air. Ivy kept quiet. Allison turned to her, knowing what her silence meant. "You did." She said the realisation dawning on her. "You knew about it."

"I might have seen it earlier." Ivy said, technically she was not lying for she had seen the trapdoor before. Before this game even started.

"Unbelievable." Kerry said walking away for some air.

"It was my test remember? I couldn't say anything that you had to work out yourself." Ivy reminded her and Allison opened her mouth before shaking her head and nodding.

"You right I'm sorry, it is important."

"And it's not over yet." Ivy said grimly, "Not until there is a clear survivor anyway or I get a tape." She wondered when John's tape would present itself with his congratulations on it and where it would come from. Maybe some secret compartment in the desk or something equally mysterious.

"We're in." Came Rigg's voice on Allison's talkie and both women peered closer at the monitors, Kerry rushing back to Ivy's side. "Kerry we're in the house, I repeat we are in the house."

"Where?" Ivy asked shaking her head, neither of them could see Rigg and his team anywhere."

"I can't see you Sergeant." Allison said, "I repeat I can not see you." Voices kept cutting over the talkie as Kerry tried to get through to them again. Ivy's eyes were on Amanda and Daniel who were opening a large industrial door. A very familiar door. Ivy moved towards another monitor and her eyes landed upon a tiny remote. on the back was a note. SEE MORE. She pressed it and the screens all changed to a different set of rooms. Allison seeing this came back to Ivy's side. "What did you do?" She took the remote from Ivy and pressed it again. Ivy's shoulders tensed, her whole body went rigid.

"There they are." Ivy said pointing at Amanda and Daniel who had their hands pressed to their mouths to cover the horrendous stench they could probably smell.

"What is that?" Allison asked over Ivy's shoulder, she had seen her tense.

"It's the bathroom." Ivy told her sadly. "That's my trap." It looked no different what so ever. The same bath, the same toilet with the heart painted on it, the shackles still in place and Ivy's knife still on the floor. The fake glass shattered in fragments, the blood, Zepp's corpse, Lawrence's decomposed foot and the body of Detective Tapp lying against the pipes in the exact corner Adam had previously been in. The bile began to rise in Ivy's throat again and Allison stared at her. Amanda had done it then. "So many fond memories." She said bitterly and Allison took her hand.

"This was your trap?" She asked. Of course no one else has ever seen it before. Ivy remembered it hadn't been discovered, unlike all it's predecessors.

"Yeah." She pointed to her old space by the sinks where a shackle was free. "That was where I was, and underneath that sink..." She pointed that out too, "Was where the electric shocks were."

Allison seemed a little stoned with the knowledge as the door slid open again and the drug dealer walked through, recoiling at once due to the strong smell. Daniel was on the floor passed out.

"KERRY!" Came through on the talkie and Allison changed the screens again.

"I still cannot see you Sergeant. Rigg do you copy?" She said once more. Ivy who had abandoned trying to find the bathroom again pushed away from the monitors and she lent back against the fencing. Her eyes rolling around her head. Till Allison's frightened voice exclaimed loudly. "It's not live." Ivy focused her eyes on the monitors and saw they had frozen in time, zig zagged lines of static obscuring the view.

"Shit." She whispered but could not stop her face from spreading into a grin. Her Uncle truly was a genius. She turned to Allison. "Don't you see?"

"See what?" Allison asked panicking now.

"It's footage. This game happened ages ago. The people who survived are already alive, they're safe..." She trailed off and walked out of the monitor room.

"What?" Allison yelled again not understanding a word Ivy said.

"That's why the house looks different" She murmured to herself. "It's how John could use them all as bargaining chips." She ran back to Allison who was still on the talkie. "I haven't saved anyone tonight. They are already safe." She told Allison laughing while she did. "John had enough confidence in me to know I would make the right decisions. Their 'reward' was already given to them. It had to be the needles with the antidote. Whoever survived, Daniel, Xavier or Amanda they are already safe." She figured out before grinning wider at Allison. "Looks like Rigg is in the wrong house." She smirked darkly before walking out the monitor room again.

"KERRY WE'RE IN THE WRONG FUCKING HOUSE!" She heard Rigg's angry voice over the monitors. Ivy kept on walking back over to where her Uncle had been sitting and then stopped rooted to the spot when she saw the safe sitting happily off to the right where John had been obscuring it with his own body. She stared at it for a moment, a grin on her face before she began laughing loudly once more as John's words flashed in her head. He's in a safe place. She knew what was in that safe. The irony of the situation and the daring of her Uncle was laughable. Completely laughable. Like clockwork the safe door began to very slowly creak open as Allison ran to join her with her gun raised.

"You don't need that." Ivy told her walking forwards to crouch in front of the safe. For inside was Daniel Matthews.

The poor boy's hands were tied and a oxygen mask had been placed on his mouth so he could breath. His eyes were red raw with tears of fear and his clothes matched the recording on the monitors perfectly, Ivy felt sympathy for him at once. Very slowly his eyes glimpsed Ivy and Allison, his eyes catching the police badges around their necks and made a noise which was probably a cry for help. "Get him out of there!" Allison shouted at once gesturing for the tech team to help her but Ivy beat her to it, throwing her friend a dirty look she crouched down onto her knees and reached in towards the safe to begin unbinding the teenager's hands. As soon as they were free Daniel latched onto Ivy's hands and she gently whispered some calming words in a similar manner to her treatment with Adam. Daniel slid the oxygen mask off his chalk white face as his eyes tried to adjust to the light and Ivy gently lead him out of his confinement putting a secure, comforting hand on his back. A traitorous streak ran through her as she thought about all she had just withheld from the boy's father but Daniel's grip on her left hand was so strong for one so weak she didn't dare to prise him off her. He seemed to recognise Allison and a scowl formed across his expression and his pace quickened slightly.

"We need to take him to a hospital." Ivy said right away and Daniel shook his head.

"I'm fine." He said finally stepping away from her arms. "I don't want a fuss, I just wanna go home. I need to call my parents. Make sure they're both okay." He said quickly, his thoughts jumbling together as Ivy's did so often. A look of sympathy crossed Allison's forehead.

"Daniel, do you know anything about what happened with your father?" She asked tentatively and Ivy shook her head quickly but Daniel caught it.

"Why where is he?" Daniel asked his voice catching at Allison's weary, sad eyes.

"He's with Jigsaw." Ivy said bluntly, there was no point in beating round the bush.

"Ivy." Allison shouted at once as Daniel whipped round to face the newest Detective.

"With Jigsaw." He repeated slowly his eyes widening with terror. "Why is he with him? He's looking for me." The kid was quick. "Is he alright?"

"We don't know. Your father and I were both involved in two games with Jigsaw right here." Ivy explained as she began to lead Daniel towards the monitor room to show him. "He made us all believe your game was being played right now. We all thought the footage was live, not recorded..."

"It happened hours ago." Daniel said his voice turning darker. "It feels like I've been in that safe forever." He shivered abruptly, the quivers running all around his body as the teenager tried to supress it.

"Detective Reeves we've got an ambulance arriving at any moment." A member of the tech team informed running up to her. Allison was forced to follow mutely behind Ivy having been thoroughly rejected by Daniel.

"Good, thank you." Ivy smiled at the resourceful tech member, a squeaky clean looking guy with rimmed glasses. "Have we got anything from Commander Rigg?" Ivy questioned her gaze flicking back to Daniel who was peering at some of the designs.

"Where's Amanda?" Daniel asked all of a sudden. "You've gotta find her!" He cried looking about wildly as if he expected the woman in question to suddenly emerge from the shadows. "She's working for him." He said finally and this instantly caught both Ivy and Allison's attention.

"She's what?" Allison asked grabbing Daniel by the arm, he yanked it away as if he had been scalded.

"Amanda. She told me after we got our antidotes delivered that she was Jigsaw's new apprentice." Daniel revealed and Ivy's eyebrows raised in surprise. She told him? Ivy didn't understand why Amanda had confided this in her temporary partner. She must have known it would be the end of her normal life, the police would be after her just as much as John himself now both of their identities had been revealed. It also meant the only ones with anonymity left were herself, Lawrence and Mark Hoffman. Amanda and John would have to become shadows.

"You've been given the antidotes?" She asked dumbly and Daniel nodded.

"Obviously or we'd be dead, can we focus on where my dad is?" He said with patronising sarcasm, he didn't understand what was more important than locating his father.

"Our SWAT Commander Officer Rigg and his team are out looking for him now." Allison informed. "We are doing everything possible to make sure your father is found. We care a lot about him."

Daniel sneered at her, "And what if you can't find him? I know what these games are like, I've just lived through one."

He looked at Ivy who couldn't answer the boy, for she honestly didn't hold any hope that Eric would come out alive, not after John himself had issued the 'game over'. Allison answered for her again, "We will find him. But right now we need to get you to the hospital so we can go and assist in the search."

Daniel consented finally pushing ahead of the two, he paused to look back at the safe he had been contained in. "By the way, there's a tape recorder in there." He said cocking his head towards the safe. "It's taped to the wall. Amanda told me it was for the smart cop, so I'm figuring that's you." He said addressing Ivy whose cheeks flushed in embarrassment. She crossed back to the safe and untaped the tape recorder from the wall. It was definitely meant for her and Ivy's finger confidently hit the play button, yet her pulse seemed higher than normal. What if this wasn't what she hoped it to be? What if this was just the second hurdle of the race?

'If you are listening to this Ivy then I must offer you my congratulations. I had faith in you from the very beginning and by now you understand how my game has been played, the clues you saw around you solved and Daniel Matthews should be before you. My guess is that his father however, is absent. He is no concern of yours. I will admit my large bluff, your reward has already been administered to Amanda and Daniel, the antidotes to the poison in the Nerve Gas House. You will recall me telling you that if you are good at anticipating the human mind it leaves nothing to chance and I am pleased to see my faith in you was not misguided. You have overcome your obsessions Ivy. Now go and cherish your life.'

The fuzzing sound from the end of the tape signified the end of Ivy's game and she smiled releasing her breath of air in relief. She had passed her second test and there would be no more to come. Ivy rested the tape recorder on the desk, the forensics would go to town on this place later and retrieved her phone from its place on John's desk where he had left it for her. She checked it on to see the battery had died, although she was sure it had been fully charged when she left with Adam that long morning ago. Sighing she went with Daniel and Allison outside the building now the tech team were clearing up after getting another report from Rigg saying they had found nothing in the alternate house they had stormed instead of the accurate house where Ivy presumed Eric was at. It was relieving to finally voice all her opinions and thoughts however and Daniel seemed slightly attracted to her. He liked to stick close to her and would direct his questions mostly to her, whether this was because she was a fellow survivor or just because she hadn't had an affair with his father Ivy wasn't sure. Eventually Daniel requested Ivy be the one to accompany him to the hospital and she agreed saying they would take him to St Eustace and he could speak with her friend and fellow survivor Dr Gordon. Daniel had heard of the Doctor and seemed eager to swap horror stories with him.

"Can I speak with Detective Reeves for a moment?" Allison asked and Daniel nodded allowing the paramedics to take a blood sample and routine checks. He seemed unnervingly unscathed and Ivy wondered for a second if John had spoken to him in a similar manner he had with Ivy herself. Allison took Ivy round to the other side of the ambulance so they were looking up at the abandoned factory turned workshop. Allison's figure was bathed in the blue glow form the ambulance lights.

"How come we never saw that." She asked and Ivy knew she was referring to the safe.

"Because we weren't looking for it." Ivy said twisting the corner of her mouth. "John may have been hiding it too." She added as an afterthought. "He didn't exactly advertise the locations did he?"

Allison shook her head. "I just feel like I failed so badly." She said running a hand over her hair and pulling out her tight ponytail.

"You didn't fail. You tried your very best and at the end of the day it wasn't up to you. It was up to Eric and I. The only reason I saw the things I did was because my mind works slightly differently now. I see things clearer, certain details that you would overlook because you haven't had the experience I've had." Ivy tried to reason laying a hand on Allison's shoulder.

"But I'm the Jigsaw Expert." The Detective insisted. "I thought it would always be me to see those details."

"Your concern was with getting those test subjects in that house out alive and you did all you could with the knowledge you had. I'm not the expert like you are. I'm just the survivor's eye." Ivy smiled remembering Mark's name for her. "Now I'm going to go to the hospital and make sure Daniel's admitted safely and then I need to go home and check on Adam, make sure he's okay. Ivy stifled a yawn behind her hand. She knew it was very late and that she would spend another hour in the hospital.

Allison nodded, "I'll go to the station and inform the others. Maybe Hoffman or Fisk will have an idea on what we can do if Rigg continues to find nothing."

"Well he's got nothing to go off. We don't even know if they took Eric's car, a police car or one of John's own." She pointed out and on that bleak note the two Detectives parted ways till the morning. More interviews Ivy thought grimly as she stepped into the ambulance with Daniel.

The ride was pretty silent, Daniel kept looking all around him at his surroundings. "You survived again." He said quietly and Ivy frowned.

"I wasn't in any danger this time." She said awkwardly. "I thought I was saving you and Amanda, but you were already out of danger."

"Yeah." Muttered Daniel and he inspected a bruise on his arm. "That was the easy bit. After I...I killed Xavier..."

"You killed him?" Ivy asked in surprise and Daniel blanched.

"I'm not gonna get put away for life am I?" He asked worriedly and Ivy laughed.

"No, not in these circumstances." She assured. "You've done enough time."

Daniel laughed too, "But we ended up in this weird bathroom where there were already some people dead and I pretended to be dead so we would have some chance to maybe get away. There was a hacksaw on the floor and I just did it. It was instinct, it was gonna be him or us and we wouldn't have had a chance as he already knew the other numbers." Daniel finished.

"Yes I don't understand why was he chasing you. The numbers that opened the safe?" Ivy asked, "We never saw anything after you got in the bathroom."

Daniel turned round and pushed his band shirt down so the orange number 3 showed starkly against his white skin. "The tape said the numbers were in the back of our minds, never figured he meant literally. But Xavier figured it out and their order is in the rainbow. We checked it out, so the red number was first, then yellow, like the rhyme." Daniel explained. Ivy nodded understanding now why Xavier was now hunting them down.

"But he wouldn't have known his own number." Ivy frowned looking at the teenager as the paramedic in the ambulance with them hooked Daniel up to an IV so some fluids could be pumped into his body.

"Oh he had a plan for that. He cut out the bit of his own flesh that had his number on and the freak then put it in his pocket." Daniel remembered pulling a distorted face with a wince.

"Oh Jesus." Ivy frowned shuddering as yet another body was added to the death toll of the bathroom. A heavy, thick silence fell where Ivy thought about all that had happened that night. It felt as if they had all been in that factory for a week, not however many hours. The full moon was out and shining its ominous light along the busy roads as the ambulance fought through the continuous traffic, the siren blaring so the sound reached inside Ivy. "The bathroom was my trap." She shared quietly and Daniel stared at her.

"It was?" He asked the surprise evident in his features.

"Yeah. I was in the shackle by the sinks." She told him glaring at the floor. "I had to protect Adam, the young man by the bathtub from Dr Lawrence Gordon who had to kill him."

"But I saw that Adam guy's body in the bathroom." Daniel said and Ivy stared at him. That was a huge problem for if Daniel told any of the other Detectives this piece of information then they would begin to question Ivy and Adam's story unless she thought fast. "No we all escaped the bathroom. I passed first, then Lawrence sawed his foot off to save his family, shot Adam who survived it and killed Zepp who was going to kill Lawrence and his family, got his own key from down the plughole and found me." Ivy explained giving Daniel a very edited short version of half truths. "Maybe another guy was tested after us in there, if it was a part of your game too." She ventured and Daniel lapped it up.

"Yeah maybe." He nodded and Ivy breathed again, she couldn't believe she was getting away with so many lies.

"That's weird to think about. That I've been in your trap and the first person I see after is you. And I've seen you on the news, all of you without ever really thinking about it before."

"Actually it's more like carefully designed fate." Ivy smiled thinking about how wrong it was that she, the person who was most responsible for Eric Matthew's fate, besides John and Amanda was bonding so closely with his son. The ambulance pulled into the hospital site and Ivy put a steady arm around Daniel who went a little weak in her arms when the fresh air hit him. Reporters were milling round and rushed towards the ambulance alongside other members of the police force. "You must be hungry." She said with a smile, thinking of Adam as she helped lead Daniel inside where a group of nurses were already swarming them having been pre warned. Ivy allowed them to escort Daniel to a private room while she went to reception.

"I'm Special Agent and Detective Ivy Reeves," She introduced, the badge swinging round her neck as she puffed out her chest to look more important. "I need to speak with Dr Lawrence Gordon at once I trust he's back at work now."

Whether it was the importance of her title or her weary, cold gaze but the receptionist complied at once and Lawrence was walking through the door in a matter of seconds. He looked clean and where he belonged in his medical scrubs as he let the doors slam behind him. He stopped staring dead ahead at Ivy and the collection of reporters who had made it inside the hospital before they slammed the door. He took in her badge, the dried blood on her split lip and the now shining red hand mark on her face, her crumpled clothes and bags under her eyes and surged forwards to take her by the arms. She was grateful for the comfort and allowed herself to sink into the Doctor's trusting arms. "Don't tell me you were in another trap." He said at once staring into her eyes while his hands already fussed with her cheek. She pulled away quickly when his touch stung her cheek badly. She glanced round at the photographer and handful of reporters. "Get them out of here." Lawrence snapped at some nearby security who looked baffled before pulling her away and into a ward behind a blue curtain. "Sit down." He instructed gently before moving away to get some cooling water and a cloth before gently pressing it against her cheek. "It's starting to welt." He informed her as she hissed and cursed at the pain. "Please don't. I don't want to hear you in pain again." He whispered sadly as he ran a calming hand through her hair. "Now tell me what happened."
