"Did you hear?" A girl, in the school's uniform, named Haruna, asked her friends.
"No, what did you hear?" One of her friends, Amy, replied with curiosity evident in her voice.
"There is a huge news story, saying that everything we learned in history is wrong, that we didn't exterminate the titans. We just sealed them away. They have been spotted in Asia. YOU SEE THE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN HIDING THIS FOR SO LONG!"
"WHAT? NO WAY!" Haruna's friends replied with gasps, while looking around to make sure they were not being too loud.
"Ahh, be quiet you guys... but, no, it's true. There have been a total of 50 deaths already, the police are also breaking out the ancient maneuver gear too." Haruna added, loving the attention she was getting, aswell as the expressions on her friends faces.
"We're all going to die!" Another friend, Anri, added.
"No we're not." Amy yelled at the other, trying to see if Haruna was bluffing or not.
"Who knows," Haruna began once more, "It took us a long time to defeat them the first time."
"Yeah, but even so, didn't you hear about the Wings/Titans class here? They are said to be the people that helped seal them away for a long time."
"Well, yeah, but they don't remember a thing. They'll have to remember a lot of terrifying things since most can't remember their past lives. Being reincarnated can do that to someone."
"Well still, they have titan shifters."
"Don't you pay attention at all? Three or four of the five weren't on our side."
"Oh yeah..."
"Well, whatever happens, let's pray to the gods that we can defeat them for sure this time."
-A few minutes before Armin woke up-
The school bell rung and announced to all of its students, that it was lunch time. Immediately Jean and Eren got up, grabbed their bags, and started to head for the infirmary. Pushing and shoving their way through the crowd, the two fought to get to the infirmary first. However, they were evenly matched as they both dived into the infirmary.
Getting up and patting themselves down, the two brunettes glared at each other. Slowly they strutted towards Armin's bed, just in case the blonde was asleep. Pulling the curtains, the two boys winced at the sight they saw. There, laying in the white school sheets, was Armin, pale and seemingly lifeless.
"This is all your fault, Jaeger!" Jean yelled, but quickly adjusted his volume, when he saw Armin shift a bit in his sleep.
"No it's not, will you let me explain what happened?!" Eren replied, in a hushed tone.
"How can I trust that you're not making it up? You've done this to him before."
"Like Mikasa said, I've changed. Just hear me out, before you say something stupid, horse-face."
"I'M NOT A HORSE-FACED!"
"Oh yeah, your face says other wise, did anyone ever try to ride on your back before?"
"No, but I know someone who will be riding me instead of you in bed." Jean smirked as he watched the tanned brunette in front of him blush.
"Like Armin would ever want to do something like that with you!"
"Oh yes he would, anything can happen."
"Shut it, before I shut it for you!"
"Can you imagine, Armin, blushing underneath me, begging for more."
"I said, shut it try hard!"
"Oh Jean, more~!" Jean tried his best Armin voice, to try and p*** of Eren more.
"That's it! YOU'RE DEAD!" Eren belted out, as he started to chase Jean around the infirmary in a mad dash. The two ran back and forth around the room as best as they could. In just a few moments, Eren and Jean were separated only by Armin's bed. Both boys were breathing heavily and yet were still equally focused on avoiding or chasing the other.
Seeing that Jean let his guard down for brief second, Eren leaned forward to hit Jean in the face. However, things took a turn for the worst when Jean dodged Eren's hand, causing the shorter brunette to slip and fall on Armin.
The next thing that Eren and Jean both knew, was that Armin and Eren were kissing, and that Armin was waking up.
-present time-
All three boys in the room were frozen in place, not knowing what to do next. Armin, having no knowledge of what was happening at all, pushed Eren off of himself, once he was able to comprehend what was happening. Propping himself up, Armin held his hand up to touch his lips and still remained speechless looking to Jean for an answer.
Once he could not get one, Armin concluded that he would have to ask what happened that led to such a situation to occur.
"W-why did you kiss me?" Armin timidly asked, his gaze on Eren, and no one else.
"Well you see-..." Eren paused, as he was interrupted by a series of numbers running through his head.
25:49:24:25:96:67:23
In a flash, Eren was sucked up into white light, dragging him away from Jean and Armin. Shutting his eyes, Eren made sure he wouldn't be blinded by the light in front of him. Squinting as hard as he could, he shielded his eyes from the light and soon felt weightlessness.
Opening his eyes, Eren saw two black strips with red numbers counting down in front of him. Gasping at the change in scenery, the brunette craned his neck in various directions, so he could get a good feel on his whereabouts.
"W-where a-am I?! W-whoaa!" Eren exclaimed, as gears started to appear in front of him, he started to flip in mid air. Trying to angle himself so that he would stop flipping, Eren began to panic. For the first time in a few days Eren was reminded of that sense of fear he had before arriving to the future. As he continued to free fall, Eren started to ponder where he was being reported to this time.
Anxiousness now took over him, fearing that he would be going back to a different future, having no clue of what was what yet again. Closing his eyes once more, Eren allowed the light to suck up his body with it's warmth as his journey would soon end.
Boom, Boom, Crash! The brunette fell onto a hard wooden floor with extreme force. Looking up as he rubbed his head, Eren saw that he was in a house which he assumed belonged to the military. Everything he saw so far was familiar, and now the question remained. What time period was he in?
Getting up slowly, Eren walked over to the door and opened it slowly. He peeked to see someone who wore the Military police's insignia on their shoulders and back. The officer turned around, and ran as fast as the could shouting 'He's woken up!'
"Eh, what do they mean I have woken up? What's going on here?" Eren pondered, as he walked back into the room, while sitting on the bed, waiting for someone to explain to him what had just happened.
Just as he predicted, Levi and Hanji entered his room, both eyeing him like he was an alien.
"How do you feel?" Levi spoke firs,t his face forever stuck in a professional mask.
"Fine, but what happened? Why am I here?"
"We found you in the battle field barely alive, luckily you're a titan shifter so you were able to heal quickly. It was only two hours ago that we assumed you were consumed by a titan in your blinded rage session."
"But then why was I not there?"
"What nonsense are you going about?"
"Nee, Levi, wait. He may have took a hit to his head," Hanji interrupted, "Eren, what do you think happened? PLEASE TELL ME EVERYTHING IN EXCRUCIATING DETAIL!"
"U-Um...Well, I was in what seemed like another world, where we won against the titans, there are weird metal death traps that teleport people, and everyone who is dead now, is alive."
"That's never ha-..." Levi was interrupted by Hanji's hands over his mouth.
There was a pause…
Hanji and Levi both looked at each other puzzled, and slowly tried to piece together everything that the young brunette told them. With a few nods, Levi exited the room, allowing Hanji to make her way to the wooden chair next to Eren's bed. Adjusting the way she sat, Hanji smiled and made sure to stay calm.
As she recalled, the last time she was herself around Eren, she kind of scared him a bit.
"Why did Heichou leave?"
"Well you know how grumpy the dwarf is, so I'll just be here to talk to you. Again, don't hold anything back. I want to now EVERYTHING!"
"O-Okay, well like I said, I was in a place where we won against the titans, there are weird metal death traps that teleport people, and everyone who is dead now is alive. Even you guys were alive, but you were my teachers."
"Whoa, really!? I wish I could see such a place, well too bad I'm stuck here. Anyways, how did you end up there? It's not everyday something like this happens."
"How I got there...Well I was going to be eaten by a titan, but then I was absorbed by some light and then all around me were numbers and gears. The next thing I knew, I was in a hospital with Mikasa , and I was connected to strange machines. Gosh, I wish you could have seen them! They were huge, and they would have saved over half of the soldiers we lost if we had them! How I got back here, well...I don't really know."
Waiting for a reply, Eren gripped the covers on the bed hoping of all people, Hanji would at least believe him. Again, silence filled the wooden room. Hanji rubbed her face and adjusted her glasses, trying to figure out a way to piece everything together, then it came to her. Getting up, Hanji turned her back to Eren and walked over to the window that allowed light to enter the room.
"Eren," She began, "Do you believe in time travel, and reincarnation?"
"Y-yeah, why?"
"Then, when I say this, please keep an open mind. Though, you have no reason to doubt me after what you have just said." Looking outside the window one last time she saw the orange hues of a setting sun. Smiling calmly, Hanji slowly turned her head to finally look towards Eren.
"What you experienced is called a time leap. Most people I have come across who have had this happen are said to have gone into the past, such as when they were small, or a moment in their life they wished they could relive. A gift and yet a curse."
"A curse how?"
"It comes in different ways, so it is not for me to really say."
"Oh… I see."
"Anyways, as I was saying. The time leap, I believe you experienced, is one going to the future. Most people with this power are able to access it just like your titan power; you have to have a purpose. So when you saw your closest friends die, all you thought about was getting them back like anyone else would. In doing so, you were able to time leap."
"But how did I returned here? I didn't have to leap anywhere to come back."
"Here's the thing, sometimes it happens spontaneously. Oh, and another thing about these time leaps! Sorry, my head is just bouncing with all the facts I can't keep up. Ah, continuing on, with a time leap time is very different. How long were you in that world?"
"I don't know, maybe like three...four days?"
"Well here, it has only been about six hours."
"Are you serious!?"
"Completely, so if you were planning to go back, don't be surprised that a lot of time has changed."
"O-OH, I hope it hasn't been that long."
"Now for reincarnation," Hanji allowed Eren no time to recover and just continued on," You said everyone you knew was alive. Well, obviously, in this new future we live new lives, easier ones. That's about it for reincarnation, it's pretty self explanatory."
"How do you even know all of these things?"
"I've researched a lot of things in my day, and heard lots of different stories. You didn't think all I studied was titans, now did you?"
"To be honest, yes..."
"Ehhhh, that's so mean!"
"Sorry, I just assumed...What should I do now?"
"Well, we need you to go back."
"REALLY? YES! W-wait why?"
"How do I put this? In the future you said that titans didn't exist right? So we need you to find out how we defeated them, and leap back to us."
"Okay, I will. Should I go now?"
"Sure, I don't see why not. When you come back, remember, EXCRUCIATING DETAIL!" Hanji exclaimed, as she began to laugh loudly and slap Eren's back in a friendly way.
"So...How do I leap again?"
"Well most people just leap, oh, and remember you need purpose. Make sure to think of why your jumping, don't get distracted."
"Right, now I need a place to leap from."
"Oh! I know, follow me~!" Hanji grabbed Eren's arm tightly, forcing him off the bed and towards the door frame yet again. They walked through the various halls of the wooden building, until Eren got his taste of he outside world of his time yet again. Looking up, he saw the setting sun along with three geese flying off to an unknown location.
The two walked for a while, until they found themselves on top of a roof. Letting go of her grip, Hanji stood there and gave Eren a happy, yet creepy, smile.
"Well, go on, jump." She stated simply, as she gestured to the edge of the roof, as if jumping off of one as normal. Looking at Hanji as if she was crazy, the brunette hesitated to jump. His feet began to move slowly towards the edge, so his head could peer over and see the likelihood of injury if this where to fail. Gulping, Eren could feel a cold sweat start to form as he contemplated what could happen to him.
However, there was one thing that Eren was sure about. He had to returned to Armin, and make sure Jean and him never get together. Just as he was about to jump, Eren heard a voice from behind him speak.
"Go on, jump. Why isn't he jumping? Does he even know how to jump?" Hanji spoke to herself wondering what was the problem.
"Here goes nothing." Eren takes another deep breath.
"This is taking too long! Come on, there are titans we need to learn how to kill, places to reclaim, titans to capture! Nobody has time for this!" Hanji pushed Eren off of the roof, causing him to let out a scream, before he was engulfed in the light yet again.
A month has past since Eren Jaeger's disappearance, and a month since Armin's first kiss. However, not everyone was worrying about the brunette's disappearance. Finals were coming along with the holidays and everyone was on edge. There were no students up and about on the campus at all, since studying was taking away most of their social interaction.
In a little apartment, Armin's room was a complete disaster. There were books, notes, coffee cups, and tissues everywhere. Sniffling, Armin continued to read through everything he could in that one night. He was thankful that most of his classes didn't allow homework, besides studying, during finals since he was already overwhelmed as it was.
Sneezing into his elbow about three times, Armin looked to his side to see his coffee cup was no longer filled. Getting up and walking into the kitchen, the blonde poured more coffee trying not to have another sneezing fit. Right as he was about to leave the kitchen, Jean walked in staring at Armin with sorrowful eyes.
"Armin, you look terrible. Won't you stop studying and rest? Better yet, call in sick from class and work. Your body can't afford anymore, you know how easily you can get sick." Jean calmly stated, as grabbed Armin's wrist and walked him towards the bathroom and in front of the mirror. For a second, Armin was going to ask why he had brought him there, but that's when it hit him.
Leaning in closer to see his reflection, Armin placed his hand on the cold glass of the mirror and gazed in horror. His hair was stringy and oily from lack of washing it and sweat, his eyes had bags under them, showing how tired he was, and to make things worse his cheeks were a light pink color signifying a fever. Retracting his hand to his forehead, Armin brushed his bangs up, feeling his sweat.
"I-I'm fine,I won't call in sick. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to study more."
"No, Armin you don't. Look at yourself, you're sick. You sneeze too much, your nose runs, you cough up a storm in your sleep, and you threw up on me."
Also, the only time you've had a break from studying is when you are at work, and that one time you watch Frozen after school."
"That was a good movie, and what does that have to do with anything."
"After you watched that movie, you studied even more for the time you had lost, not only that you started to sing every single song. YOU HAD ME SING LOVE IS AN OPEN DOOR WITH YOU!" Jean flushed, having to remind himself that he was lecturing Armin on his health. Once that yell was able echo throughout the apartment, Marco appeared concerned a fight was going to start.
"What's wrong, Jean? Why are you yelling?" Marco gently placed his hand on his friends shoulder, trying to get his attention off of Armin.
"Armin won't rest, he thinks he's fine, but look at him, Marco." Jean gestures towards Armin, who is now trying to run away into his room, while grabbing a blanket to wrap around his body. Before he was able to get away, Jean grabbed the blanket Armin had wrapped himself in, causing him to freeze in his place.
"Armin, please listen to Jean. You know he is only thinking of the best." Marco said, as he supported Jean's earlier argument of him needing rest.
"Why can't you let it go!?"
"Not with the Frozen puns again, dammit Armin!" Jean exclaimed.
The blonde giggled, as he let go of the blanket, getting away from the grip keeping him in place. Once free, He ran to his room and shut the door sighing as he realized he would have to go back there yet again if he wanted more coffee. Sitting down at his desk again, Armin commenced his studying once more, ignoring his flu symptoms if only to get more knowledge into his head.
The week after, Jean refused to talk to Armin unless he rested, and Marco was trying to convince the two to meet on even grounds, but that was proving to have no effect. It was now Christmas Eve and Armin's conditions still had not gotten any better, and yet he still continued to go to work. Once he was out of his job as a waiter, the blonde put on his coat and boots to get ready to go outside.
In his hands, he held presents for Jean and Marco that he hoped they would like. He worked extra hours just so he could afford those gifts for his 'family', so doing it while sick didn't matter. So long as he was able to give them one gift to show his love.
As he excited the café, Armin took note to the snow fall and how much it would slow him down on his way home. Holding onto the presents as if it were for his life, Armin roughed it out as best he could.
"I have to make it to Jean..I have to apologize to him, and spend Christmas with him and Marco! I can't miss it." Armin encouraged himself, as he started to cough and his breathing started to get faster. The snow around him started to fall again, causing the temperature to decrease more. Armin's body was starting to go at its limits.
His coughs started to become more aggressive, which caused some blood to come out along with mucus. He was breathing fast enough to the point where he might actually pass out, and his chest started to hurt.
"Why am I so weak! Dammit, if only I were born with a stronger immune system! Come on conceal it, don't feel it. You know, maybe Jean was right, I reference that movie too much..." Walking slowly on the icy path home, Armin prayed that he would make it through for another ten minutes or so until he got home. Taking another step, Armin absorbed the pain he was in, making sure not to slip on any ice if there was any around.
Feeling the soft snow fall, snowflakes slid down his face causing him to lose feeling on his nose and cheeks. Sniffling, Armin took a deep breath and continued on his road home. And then it hit Armin like a ton of bricks.
Fatigue won Armin over, as his legs gave out causing him to drop his presents and sit on the ground, coughing aggressively. He couldn't breathe, another problem Armin was running into that only added onto his agony. Looking around, Armin saw nothing but white snow, not a soul for him to cry out to for help. Struggling to get up, Armin fell onto his hands, his coughing seeming to never end.
The cold ice on his hands burned allowing his fingers to no longer feel as if they weren't there anymore.
I'm going to die here, alone, and without apologizing to Jean. That was all Armin could think, before allowing his illness to have its way with his body, causing him to fall unconscious.
Right as Armin fell unconscious, Eren tumbled towards a fence that was covered in snow. Groaning as he got up, Eren rubbed his head and looked around to see where he was. All Around he saw snow and some lights peeking through the snow to reveal Christmas decorations. Freezing in place like a deer in head lights, Eren being from the ancient times, felt fear serge through his body.
All around him was red, green, and yellow lights that resembled the glowing of wolves' eyes. Backing up a bit, Eren tried to calm himself down trying to figure out a plan. As he was backing up however, his foot had hit something. Looking down, he saw it was a red box with a green bow. He kneeled down to pick the package, finding a tag, he looked at it trying his best to read the writing, since he never really learned to read much.
"T-tut...Wait, no, to. To Jean, from Armin. Wait this is Armin's present to Jean? What's it doing here? Wait it must be Christmas time already, man does time fly when you're leaping through it. More importantly, where is Armin?" Dropping the present on the ground, Eren looked around to see if he could find Armin somewhere, walking home in the snow.
For a while he couldn't see anything but snow on the ground or around other paths, but then he saw Armin's fragile body on the ground lifeless. Rushing to his side, Eren took the other into his arms, feeling his temperature.
"He has a fever, and he has the chills. This can't be good, I have to find my father and make sure these wolves don't get us." Carrying the boy in his arms, Eren made sure to pick up the two presents around them, knowing that Armin wouldn't want them to be gone. Thanking his lucky stars that his ability to titan shift allowed him to be warm in any situation, Eren now hoped his sense of direction didn't fail him. Marching off to where he believed his modern day house was, Eren carried Armin making sure that he was still breathing so that his father could treat him.
Reaching the gates known as Wall Maria, Eren asked the guard for permission to enter, stating his name only. Allowed in, Eren ran towards his house knocking frantically on the door.
"Open up, please hurry, there are wolves and Armin is sick!" Eren exclaimed, hoping that the people behind the door would hear his pleads and come faster, and indeed they did.
Mikasa opened the door and went to Eren's side, much like a mother bear with her new cub when she heard him say wolves. Scanning the area, Mikasa saw no threat to Eren and then looked at what was in is arms.
"Is that Armin?"
"Yes, where's dad; he's really sick."
"He is in the living room, put him in the guest room while I get him."
Nodding his head in agreement, Eren rushed to the guest room. Placing Armin on the bed, he waited patiently for his father to come and fix his friend. Three minutes later, Grisha came in with his doctor's kit and asked Eren to leave while he mended to Armin. Being kicked out of the room, Eren walked down to the living room, where Mikasa was waiting patiently for Eren.
Once he was in sight. Mikasa got up and placed her hands on his shoulders.
"Where have you been? You were gone for a month!"
"You remember the whole 'I'm from the past' thing right?"
"Yes?"
"Well, I some how was there and came back, and if I am there for a few minutes, it could be weeks or months here."
"I see, and here's another question what happened to Armin?"
"I don't know, when I came back here I saw him unconscious on the ground, and there were wolves everywhere."
"Wolves!?"
"Yeah, their eyes were glowing at us, they never moved from where they were, but they were everywhere."
"Eren, I think what you saw were Christmas lights."
"What the hell are those?"
"They are just decorations that we use to make Christmas more exciting and happy."
"Oh..."
"Are you sure you're okay? You seem a little more off than usual? Could it be that you learned about the titans?"
"Of course I know about titans, Mikasa."
"I'm surprised your taking it so well then."
"Why wouldn't I? I've grown up with knowing about them, so it is no surprise."
"I guess you're right, make sure to be careful where you're going from now on."
"Oh my gosh Mikasa, you're not my mother."
"Yes, but I still will protect you at any cost."
"Mika-...", Eren was interrupted by his father, who quietly entered adjusting the way he presented himself, even in front of his children. Upon seeing him, Eren forgot about Mikasa entirely, only wanting to know how Armin was doing.
"How is he dad? Will he live? Is he going to die? What does he have? Will you be able to cure him?" Eren spoke quickly, as if he were going to lose his breath soon.
"Calm down son, she- I mean he, is fine he has pneumonia though. He will have to stay here for a few days at least, until his fever and cough have gone away. We will also have to make sure he gets plenty of rest and drinks a lot."
"That's a relief, can I see him?"
"He may be asleep so be quiet."
Nodding, Eren slowly made his way up the stairs, stopping halfway, Eren turned to Mikasa; who had started to punch in numbers into their house phone.
"What is that thing, Mikasa?"
"It's called a phone. In this time we use them to talk to people when we want too even if they're not there."
"Oh, then who are you talking to?
"Jean and Marco, they must be worried sick about Armin."
"Why would they care, they haven't been friends with Armin for as long as we have."
"That may be true, but keep in mind things are different here. Your whole reality until now is a lie, because we aren't who we use to be .Let the past be the past, and accept that."
"But still."
"Eren look at it this way, everybody has this form of amnesia if you will. We are all slowly getting our memories back but slowly. In this situation, imagine if it was reversed and Jean and Marco had Armin. Wouldn't you be concerned about where he is?"
"Y-yeah, I guess you're right."
"Eren, you know I'm right."
"Yeah, I hate it when you're right."
"Another thing I think might help you."
"What?"
"Don't force all of your feelings onto someone who doesn't know of the past, let alone is scared of you now. It's best if you just become friends, before you can have the relationship you have always wanted."
"Thanks Mikasa, you're the best sister anyone could have asked for." Eren said just as he was about to turn around and continue on his way towards Armin's room. Slowly, Eren walked up the stairs contemplating a way to approach Armin.
As Mikasa said, he couldn't force his feelings on him as he had been doing, and he also can't be too creepy when trying to have the other warm up to him. Taking only a few steps up, Eren could feel a sense of anxiety spreading throughout his body. Many outcomes of his encounter with Armin could go wrong and Eren would only hope he was able to turn back time.
"Turn back time! That's it, I can turn back time if I do mess up, then I can have as many do overs as I want! Yes, thank whoever or whatever allowed me to time leap."
Feeling more confident, Eren picked up his pace and was now in front of the white wooden door. Taking one last deep breath, he twisted the nob so that he could enter the room. Calmy, Eren walked into the room taking in the scenery.
There on a bed, laid Armin, who was coughing so much that he assumed one more cough and he would burst. Remembering what his father said, Eren walked closer to Armin's body to see if the boy was sleeping or not. Seeing that he was still awake, Eren now decided it would be a good time to start a conversation, if only to explain to Armin everything that was happening.
"Hey." Eren began, watching as Armin tried to support his body, so that he was sitting up. Seeing this, Eren assisted the blond in his struggle, so that he would be able to make him comfortable as he talked.
"W-where-...," Armin coughed, "Am I?" A simple question nonetheless, however Armin somehow felt he already knew the answer to that.
"You're at my house, I saw you in the snow unconscious and I brought you here." Nodding understandingly and mentally thanking Eren in his head, Armin allowed his muscles to rest on the bed frame as it supported him. For a few seconds Armin felt as if he saw this scene before. Closing his eyes, Armin hoped that he would be able to recall this familiar sensation.
A few minutes passed and Armin still remained in the same position, the only time he moved was when he was to cover his mouth when he was coughing. All he saw was darkness and nothing more. Searching through his memories, Armin tried his best to remember why this situation felt so familiar and then it hit him. He saw himself in bed with a terrible flu with Jean and Marco by his side.
Jean was spoon feeding him soup, since he was too weak to even move, as Marco changed the damp towel on his head. His view shifting from Marco to Jean, Armin saw two different people in their place. These two new people's eyes were covered, so he could not identify them, but some how deep in his heart he knew that they would always be there for him, that they were the world to him as he was to them.
Opening his eyes, Armin smiled, forgetting where he was as he let out a giggle. Unfortunately, as he giggled he started to cough yet again which stopped his sense of joy in his tracks. He then felt an arm wrap around his shoulders, looking to his left, he could see Eren sitting next to the bed in a chair with the face of pure concern.
As if on cue, the image of the unknown person in his flash back came to Armin, causing the ill boy to stare at Eren. Coughing a few more times, he was offered a tissue so he wouldn't get his lent clothes dirty with mucus and blood.
"Take it easy, you need to stay hydrated." Eren stated, as he offered a glass of water that Armin accepted. Raising the glass to his lips, he still kept his eyes on Eren.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Eren broke the silence, now feeling awkward as he blushed knowing that the blond in front of him only has eyes on him for the first time in forever. Finishing up his drink, Armin was exhausted, he didn't want to stay awake anymore. However he needed to have questions answered, and figure out why he is drawn to Eren so much in that moment.
"C-can I say something crazy?" Armin began.
"I love crazy."
Oh my gosh, it's just like Frozen, Armin mentally flipped out in his head. Shaking his head to get ride of his childish thoughts, Armin took a deep breathe trying to hold his cough down.
"I-...," Armin was interrupted by the sound of the door opening to reveal Mikasa, who held a phone out to Eren. From the sounds of it, Armin knew who was yelling on the other side, as Eren walked over ready to accept the phone until he heard the words coming out of Armin's mouth.
"J-jean...JEAN, MARCO. THE PRESENTS WHERE ARE THEY!?" A surge of panic ran throughout Armin's body, as he started to pat the bed sheets around him and lift pillows trying to look for the bright packages. In the middle of his panic, Armin started to cough even more, each cough coming out harsher and harsher.
Rushing over to Armin's side, Eren rubbed his back and began to lay down beside Armin, not knowing what else to do or knowing whether it was the right or wrong thing to do.
"Armin, calm down you'll only aggravate yourself more if you keep freaking out about those gifts. They're safe, I put them in my closet so that I could give them back to you when you were better. Please just rest for now."
Gazing at Eren with hazy eyes, Armin weakly nodded, closing his eyes as he continued to cough only hoping that he would get better by Christmas Day. However, he knew that he would have to call the Jaeger household home for a few days.
Walking over to grab the phone yet again from Mikasa, Eren turned off the light so that Armin could sleep peacefully. Once the door was closed, Eren looked at the phone in his hand and proceeded to make his way into his room, which was about three doors down.
Once securely in his room, Eren brought the strange device towards his ear, so he could hear Jean.
"WHERE IS HE JEAGER!?" Jean exclaimed furiously into the phone, in the background you could hear Marco trying to calm him down.
"Hold your horses, okay."
"Hell no! HOW COULD YOU JAEGER. HE WAS SICK AND YOU PLAY THIS SICK PRANK ON CHRISTMAS! YOU'RE SO DAMN COLD HEARTED!"
"STOP ASSUMING THINGS! WHAT KIND OF SICKO WOULD DO SUCH A THING TO SOMEONE?!"
"UH, YOU THAT'S WHO!"
"NO I WOULDN'T, I'VE CHANGED BELIEVE IT OR NOT!"
"PSSH, YEAH RIGHT! TELL ME WHERE YOU LIVE SO I CAN PICK HIM UP!"
"YOU CAN'T IDIOT, REMEMBER HE'S SICK AND IF YOU LOOK OUTSIDE A SNOW STORM STARTED! IF YOU TAKE HIM OUT OF THIS HOUSE HE WILL DIE. BESIDES, THIS IS THE ONLY HOLIDAY HE WON'T SPEND WITH YOU GUYS THIS YEAR SO DEAL WITH IT ! I'M SURE HE CAN GO OVER TO YOUR HOUSE ANOTHER TIME!"
"UM, HELLO. HE LIVES WITH ME, WELL, US!"
"W-wait what?" Eren's voice softened his eyes widened in surprise as his breathing calmed down a bit. He remained silent, still a bit shocked that he never noticed.
"He lives with us."
"..." Eren hung up the phone and slid down the wall. Now sitting on the floor back against the wall, Eren placed his hand on his face trying to relieve the tension he felt earlier. He sat there for a few moments, staring at the white walls of his room in silence. The words that Jean said echoed throughout his empty mind.
He lives with me.
He lives with me.
He lives with me, it felt as if the words would not stop repeating themselves. Eren could now feel the despair and jealousy course throughout his body. Armin lived with Jean; Jean lived with Armin.
"What am I going to do? That jerk for sure will be able to win his heart again, he has too much of an advantage...What am I going to do? If he doesn't warm up to me by the time he's well, I don't know what I'll do. Damn this sucks..."
