To keep up with the illusion of being human, Jack accepted Jadis' offer of gloves and an extra jacket. She had commented with an edge of suspicion that his hands didn't seem to suffer much from his travel outside in this weapon. He had merely shrugged and said that he was born with winter in his blood. Though it wasn't exactly a lie, it got Jadis to laugh.

The pair had built a small snowman. It wasn't much, about waist-high, but it was something. Jack seemed to be indifferent to it. At one point, she put her cold gloved hands on her waist and inquired, "What, do you don't like having fun? Or is it the prospect of manual work that bothers you?" She was grinning, it took off any sting to her words.

Manual work? Jack scoffed. He had elves to do his "manual work". All he had to do was work on his songs and the next great creative song. And, truth be told, his jaw often felt sore after smiling so much. If he wanted to build a snowman, he could have just snapped his fingers and…well, no, not anymore. According to the irritating watch on his wrist, he had only ten…something. Ten chances? Ten efforts? Whatever the unit of measurement, ten was a low number.

"You try hiking twenty miles in the snow, uphill, both ways and have the energy to build a snowman." Jack responded with a bit of cheek.

Jadis laughed softly. "Twenty miles…uphill? How old are you?" She grinned as she focused on the snowman's head. "Anyway," she said as she placed the head on the body, "help me find some decent twigs for his arms."

"That should be easy enough," Jack stated, "just walk through the forest and whatever catches in your hair…"

"Hilarious, Snowball." Jadis rolled her eyes as she walked towards the edge of the woods.

Jack followed suit though kept just far enough away to not pose a threat. They could see one another from the corner of their eyes. "Did you just call me 'Snowball'?!"

"Better than Snowflake." The woman pointed out as she picked up one branch. "Or would you and your hair prefer Icicles?"

"I believe 'Snowflake' would fit you more." He pointed out. "As for my name, it is Jack. Call me as such."

Jadis smirked. "Yes, yes, I know it's Jack…Frost. Frosty, how about that?"

Jack couldn't resist the irony any longer. He chuckled. "Frost it is." He leaned forward and picked up the second branch, offering it to the black haired woman. "Snowflake."

"Call me Mistress of Winter." Jadis said cheekily before taking the offered tree limb. Satisfied with the pair, she turned around and went back to the snowman. "There!" She grinned down at their creation. "Now for the eyes and nose. Hm."

Just as she made to walk back to the house, a noise filled the otherwise silent air. It was a truck! Jadis nodded towards the long driveway. "I think my neighbor is visiting. He has a truck, he'll be able to help you more than triple A will." She turned to look at the man. "Come on, we'll meet him halfway. You can walk, can't you Frosty?"

Jack bristled slightly. "Of course I can!"

"Then come on! Mr. Man will have to wait."

A/N: Short chapter, a snippet really. I apologize. I wanted to post something though to let y'all know I'm working on it. I had a friend visit for a week and couldn't write. However, I will be re-watching the 2nd and 3rd Santa Clause movie to make sure my outline fits within their rules.

Yes, I have about ¾ of the story planned out already, mwhaha. Anyway, I'll have a fuller, better chapter out soon!
