The Untold Secret

Chapter 11

"So Kepner you're the screamer?" asked Cristina.

"Does everyone know that now?" asked April.

"That you scream no but we're in the hospital so they will soon," answered Cristina.

"So you and Jackson?" asked Meredith.

"Yes me and Jackson," answered April.

"And she's the screamer," said Cristina.

"Kepner I need a resident," said Mark, as he walked past.

"Thank god," she muttered, before heading after him.

"Did you do that on purpose?" asked April.

"Yes," answered Mark.

"Thank you," she whispered.

"You'll thank me even more in a minute. Your scrubbing in on my burn patient with me. Be about a eight hour surgery," said Mark. "With no gallery."
"Ok," answered April.

"You'll thank me because Mamma Avery is here or will be here," said Mark.

"I have no interest in plastics," said April.

"You're taking your boards in a few months you need the hours and she can easily find you in the ER," answered Mark.

"Then I guess thanks is in order," said April.

"Oh and Jackson will be in there," said Mark. "I need the hands. Hunt said I could borrow you."

April nodded.

"Go get read up," he said. "Mr Henderson room 3304."

April headed off to find the chart.

"You on Henderson surgery?" asked Jackson, as he stood next to her at the nurses station.

"Sloan is hiding me from your mother," said April.
"My mother's coming?" asked Jackson.

"That's what Sloan said," said April.

"Why do you keep calling me Sloan?" asked Mark, from behind them.

Jackson turned round.

"My mother is coming?" he asked.

"Yes the chief told me," answered Mark.

"Dr Hunt?" asked Jackson.

"No Webber," answered Mark.

"How would? Actually I don't even want to think about it," said Jackson.

"Maybe they're friends," said Mark, with a smirk on his face.

"Don't," said Jackson, walking off.

"They could be," called Mark.

"It's my mother," said Jackson, coming back. "We need to go."

"Why?" asked April.

"Because I just saw my mother," said Jackson. "Sloan we will see you in OR five in half an hour. We'll just go round on your patients."

With that Jackson and April hurried off, charts in hand.

"Dr Sloan was that my son and his girlfriend running away from me?" asked Catherine Avery.
"They're rounding on my patients," said Mark.

"And then?" asked Catherine.

"A complex eight hour surgery on a burn victim," said Mark.

"Oh well I'll come watch from the gallery," said Catherine.

"No gallery, sorry. Every moment has to be practically perfect," said Mark.

"And do you know what my son is doing after your surgery?" asked Catherine.

"He's on a double date with me and Dr Grey," answered Mark.

"Dr Grey?" asked Catherine.

"Lexie Grey," said Mark.

"I see," said Catherine.

"Well if you'll excuse me Dr Avery I really must go and prep for my surgery," said Mark.

"No of course not," said Catherine.

As Mark rounded the corner he pulled out his phone and dialled Lexie.

"Hey," she said. "Everything ok?"

"Yeah we're doubling with Kepner and Avery tonight," he said.

"We are?" asked Lexie.

"Yeah we are," answered Mark. "I'm-"

"Lex you there?" he asked, as he heard something in the background.

"Dr Grey?" asked a voice.

"Dr Avery," said Lexie.

Mark groaned.

"I understand your doubling with my son and his girlfriend tonight with Dr Sloan," said Catherine. "This isn't a ploy to keep my son and April away from me is it?"

"No we've had to planned for a few weeks," said Lexie. "We made the reservations ages ago. I'm sorry," said Lexie.

"No worries," said Catherine, walking off.

Lexie made sure she was out of earshot before she brought the phone back to her ear.

"We're hiding April and Jackson from his mother?" asked Lexie.

"Yeah," said Mark. "I'm Mark Sloan I can get reservations for four at sort notice."

"Good luck with that," answered Lexie. "I'm being paged I gotta go."

They hung up and Mark headed to his surgery and to inform the unsuspecting couple of their double date with him and Lexie, while he tried to get a reservation.
