Reviewers:
JayK24: Hey, so you'll see how she is in this final installment.
Mangaka Shuzen: Well, since I based Naruto's power off of the Yondaime, I thought it was something that I just had to add somewhere. And when each side has healing powers, there isn't too much of a mess, though it is implied that there was a lot of blood on the ground. Anyways, here's the end.
Czar Joseph: Yeah...I figured that since most people hated Sasuke that having him redeem himself with a century or more of holding the cell closed with the Goddess would be a nice addition and make people like him once more. I have truly enjoyed your reviews and I hope to see you soon when I start my new story.
St3rfire: Well, you know, I actually had a lot of foreshadowing of Sakura losing her powers, but there was just so much that I had to place in there. Anyways, I'm glad that you enjoy the NaruSasu Saviors move that they pulled, and I hope to have you again on my new story, when I do decided to begin to post it.
Duh Bomb: I admire your imagery and how you wrap up everyone's words. It is simplistic and yet elegant, man. I appreciate your input for this story, and I hope to, as from others, have you review and critique me on my next story.
AN: Hey Everyone! So, I have had such a roller coaster from start to finish with this summer story of mine, and I appreciate everything that I have received from my reviewers, both good and bad. I appreciate your commitment to reading as I update, or...in the future if you are reading this after I press the completed tab.
Now, I do have a large number of papers coming up for my final year of college and it may be until November or even December until I begin to post my latest story, featuring a more High School-centric theme, but know that I have written half of it down already and the summaries mainly completed. My goal for each chapters is to be 5000 words a piece, and as you may guess, that does not come easy, so just know that once I post, please spread the word, for a huge outbreak in word count and descriptions. Also, I may be tweaking my image to match the story, so look for my name rather than image...Now then...Onto the Finale of Fire & Ice.
Fire & Ice
Arc 3:Trust
Finale:
AN Note: Hey, so originally, I had Sakura sacrificed herself with Sasuke in the last chapter and became an angel who years later returns with something special to give to Naruto, but I decided to do this instead. I hope you all love the conclusion to Fire & Ice
Chapter 50: The Last Haruno
The wind blew softly through the afternoon air, as white and black seagulls cawed though their orange beaks and extended their wings, gliding over the water high above as down below, silver dolphins and great beluga whales and many sea creatures spent their day finding food to be content on before rising to the surface for a fresh breath of air. The birds above turned in a lazy circle as the sun shined through the light grey cloud cover and showed them the way towards land. In fact, below the birds were many great ships of great oak and simple wood, each making their way to and from a city near the coast before they all joined together in a great mass before the city's great entrance.
In the last few years, the city had grown much more than what was simply natural growth. New families of civilians and knights had pledged their newly found admiration and loyalties to both the King and Queen of Port Haruno, as well as the returning of the original populace who had returned to see their homes which they had left so long ago. But also, the city had changed in ways that before the people left, they wouldn't have been able to believe or imagine.
The cliffs that still overlooked the entrance to port Haruno had grown to show the amazing powers and prosperity that now remained in its ever present walls. Great frozen pillars of ice formed in towers at the tops of the cliffs, with a great bridge over the hundred foot expanse of the entrance, and outside of the area, two great bridges of ice moved out of hidden tunnel ways in the cliffs as checking and waiting areas, as the paths moved with the water to form a ninety degree angle in which ships came in and out of the harbor safely.
As one entered the harbor itself, they were amazed as the entire city had risen in its look and prestige, as the marketplace, having been adorned with an upper level, was now joined by houses on top of houses, with cross beams holding them up above the main and side streets, and walkways and stairways led up from brightly lit alleyways, and differing colors of magical infused lanterns filled every dark place with light.
The docks had grown over the seven years that had passed since the end of the Great Magic Battle, where an enemy became a sacrificial ally to save the world from a rouge Goddess. Since the assault of Port Haruno had wrecked much of the coastal region, new docks had been added all around the harbor's shoreline, with a few added coves where young children and mothers played in the gentle water. And near the stone dock of the Royal dock was a second pier, for more royal ships to come and rest awhile while celebrations now regularly took place. The city was in one of prosperity, and continued to grow day by day.
All along the arching harbor cliffs, tall watch towers stood proudly atop the hills, surrounded by stone and ice walls that connected them to the other and paved a way around the slippery slopes of the land. And on each of these towers, differing flags flew proudly from the wooden flag poles, from the Yamanaka yellow, to the Inuzuka white, from the Senju green to the Uchiha black, and finally on the ones nearest the harbor entrance were two flags of a red circle, in the middle of an ice blue and white flag. The flag of the King and Queen of Port Haruno.
From up above the city, one could see all as the children running through the streets, the newborns crawling away from their ever attentive new mothers, teenagers finding new areas in which the lanterns did not penetrate to make out in, and young and old couples alike, just walking throughout the streets as in between more houses in the eastern sector, a large ice rink spread out in a small clearing where balconies and windows allowed people to watch as people learned to skate in this hot summer air.
And then the castle doors themselves were like reflective glass, reflecting the hot sun as they lay open to the sides of the great stone bridge for people to walk inside and around the slightly colder castle, but a comfort from the hot sun nonetheless. As one looked to the stables, they were once again filled with the neighing horses, and servants walked from room to room, making sure that everything was in place for this great day.
The throne room itself was very casually done in simple colors, as peasants, merchants, soldiers and children ran around the room in happiness and glee, as the King and Queen of the land sat on their twin thrones, their hands resting on the armrests that were beside one another as they smiled at the gentle sight before them. Slowly, the King's hand slid over and grazed over the top of the Queen's right hand, sliding along her knuckles, as the Queen shivered and smiled as she turned her head to look into her lover's eyes.
"What are you doing, Naruto?" The Queen asked fondly, amused at her husband's antics.
Naruto smiled brighter, his mood ever filled with growing love for the woman beside him. "Well, I just wanted to see your glowing skin and eyes…and beautiful lips, and how much I want to-"
"Naru-Kunn~" Sakura giggled as she leaned over from her iced blue colored throne , and leaned on her right arm as she kissed his lips, just a light peck before she backed up. "You can't say those things while we're up here in front of the people."
"Why not? You're the most beautiful woman there ever was." Naruto smiled brighter, as his love shook her head at the numerous mannerisms that she had taught him were to before naught.
Sakura sighed fondly and stared in Naruto's swirling eyes, as her mind delved further into the blue sea eyes that just took her deeper and deeper into his soul, where her love stayed firmly with his, and into her own soul itself as her mind turned back to the past, to when her younger years were filled with the sudden actions and changes that had occurred both on and off that battlefield from almost seven years ago.

The cry of battle raged across the battlefield below, as the army of the alliance began to circle around the many divided enemy forces which fought back with all their might. The alliance was down to fifty thousand troops, but the enemy was down to sixty thousand and growing less as explosions were heard as their numerous advantages were rendered useless as the enemy pressed back against themselves and the Alliance readied their archers and siege weapons, to prepare to press against the enemy and destroy them completely.
Even now, the front lines watched, fear filling their eyes as lava poured out of the enemy, surrounding them protectively in a circle of heat, as their hands burned brightly, but the glow dimmed suddenly, as the grey sky turned red and the enemy soldiers paused and the Allied commanders stopped their men, telling them to prepare for anything that could happen, whether from the front or behind.
It was quickly after that, that the mountain quaked with a huge roar, and the seismic toss billowed around the earth as the shaking toppled men and soldiers upon each other as the shaking intensified as snow fell from the sides of the mountain tops, sliding over the ground and the troops near the mountain fled backwards in full rout, not wanting to be buried in the packs of ice and snow. As the rumbling stopped, horses neighed and began to buck wildly, and soldiers moved to their knees trying to get up onto their feet.
And then it happened. The lava along the ground bubbled and popped, the snow melting below it as the lava sunk down into the ground itself, disappearing altogether. Slowly, the armor and skin of the enemy creatures blistered and festered and glowed a red hot blaze as the creatures clawed at their faces and arms, dropping their remaining weapons as they screamed for help, which sunk into the ground as well, before their faces glowed a brilliant yellow as their eyes and mouths opened and they looked like creatures walking out of a volcano, runes appearing all along their bodies.
Soldiers watched as the entire area moved to look like a sauna, filling with heavy mist as the armor began to turn back into lava from which it was made and slid down the creatures in large orange blobs, before the mist covered everything from view as the creatures' screams turned to moans and groans. And suddenly, the heat died down as the mist began to thin, and the soldiers slowly began to move forward.
The mist slowly disappeared as the soldiers' eyes widened at the shock and revelation as before them, civilians and soldiers alike, with their clothes and armor burned and scorched marks surrounded their bodies, laid out along the ground, the last of the thick blobs of lava disappearing into the dirt below. And inside each of the circles in which the enemy used to be, were the people and citizens of the Uchiha Plains, all unconscious as the soldiers began to move forward, medics carrying out their equipment to help the people in the snowy grass. The battle was over and the nation of the Uchiha Plains had their citizens to be returned to their place or origin.
(Six years, eight months, and five days ago)
Sakura felt sick to her stomach, like she was going to throw up any minute now. Her stomach was churning so bad as soon as she woke up, knowing that today would change everything, and Sakura's arm had wrapped around Naruto's chest and placed her ear above his heart, hearing it beat so steadily. It was weird really, not being able to feel the magic coursing through his body anymore, and feeling the leather strap still adorned on her wrist by magical means and she couldn't take it off with her normal, human abilities, nor with any remaining magic in weapons that she had made. She could not use magic at all, nor could she feel it inside her. She was completely and without a thread of magic...human.
Sakura looked over to the end of the red silk bed, where slots of her belt were fitted with four places for her daggers, or what was left of her armory when she and Naruto had moved back to her castle in the mountains. Her belt was hanging off of the hilt to Naruto's dual swords, and as magical as they were, when Sakura felt them, she just felt how cold they were, and how she couldn't wield them without specialized gloves that were folded next to them. She really was…just plain old human Sakura.
And now, Sakura stood before the doors once again to the Alliance chambers in the Haruno Isles. Naruto was once again beside her, and Sakura felt her bond from all over her body pull herself closer to him. The magic she used to have still affected Naruto, and his seal on her kept her within a few miles of him, but at the cost of serious longing etched deeply into their minds while apart. It was like a mental link or illusion that would have her go insane to be away from him, but Sakura loved and adored the feeling of having to be close to Naruto. It ensured that no secrets were hidden and that neither would run away, not anymore. She would accept her responsibility, and take whatever reprimands were placed upon her.
Sakura nodded to Naruto, signaling that she was ready, and he opened the door as they walked inside the grand hall, and began to make their way to the center of the circle once more. Once there, back under the many eyes of the people who her parents had placed in these seats so long ago, Sakura felt once again like a teenager. Their eyes could see straight through her clothes and skin, straight into her soul, and it was only things like this that scared her, what others thought of her. When she was younger, that didn't matter, but Sakura supposed that with a mature mind, one thought of what others thought and reflected on it.
"Sakura, you have been called here today to discuss your terms of willful surrender to this council."
"Yes, Tsunade-Sama. I will accept the punishments that this council places upon me. I will respect and honor this decision on the oath of my life." Sakura replied, her hand crushing as hard as she could into Naruto's hand, but since the magic was gone, Sakura couldn't help but think that she was so weak, both in strength, and in knowing that she could very well be asked to die.
"After careful examination, by myself and the rest of this council, we have determined that you, Sakura Haruno, the last of your name, and the Queen of the lands of the Haruno…are no longer a threat to our world."
Sakura sniffled as she looked up at the council as content smiles came to their majestic faces. "But…I did so many bad things." Sakura frowned. "I did not do these things so that I would be given clemency."
"And while they were bad, the people of the world did not know what you were facing. Sakura Haruno, you were facing our battle long before you came to us asking for help. You have shown remorse for your actions and this high council feels that what you have done during these last few months have earned you a second...or rather a third chance at life." Sakura's tears fell down her face and it earned her a few more smiles from those around her. "It has also come to our attention that your magical powers have disappeared. Do you know if they will ever return to you?"
Sakura's throat caught as the council watched her mind think on the question, before her shoulders sagged. "I do not know if I can answer that question. I would do anything to have the powers that I once had, but I do not. I feel nothing at all inside me."
"Well, unfortunately, we cannot let you to be left unpunished. If we did, then who knows what others might think about doing to the world in which we live."
"I understand." Sakura lowered her head as the atmosphere in the air moved. The council had made their decision and were about to execute it.
"Therefore, under the ruling of this council, you are to go back to Port Haruno, where you will remain within its borders at all times and will not be allowed to leave your borders except once every two years, to visit those who you have made friends of. Now go. Go on and live in peace."
Sakura's eyes shined as she bowed low. "Thank you, dear council."
(Present Day)
Sakura shook her pink locks in her long braided mane of hair, pulling her mind out of her dear husband's eternally loving eyes, and leaned forward to kiss him tenderly. He had never once left her side, except once two years ago, when he led some of her forces against magical creatures from the north, and he had returned to her side, a full knight and King for her and her people. It was not to say that Naruto wasn't her husband before that, but he had been untested in a true battle of his own until then, and in the sight of royals, one became a true King after a battle such as that. In reality, he had been her husband, lover, and King for six wonderful years, and he had given her something she had always wanted but had rarely thought possible
Young laughter echoed inside the throne room and the King and Queen's eyes turned to smile fondly at the long pink haired, blue eyed girl leaning against a pillar, giggling uncontrollably with her arms wrapped tightly around her dress covered torso as two boys her own age, twins as they were, tickled her sides, making her gasp for air and pleading for them to stop.
"She's so beautiful." Sakura whispered out into the cold air.
"Just as beautiful as when she was born." Naruto smiled and Sakura looked to him fondly and only to immediately kiss him tenderly once more, her mind recalling that he had said the exact same thing when Sakura had given birth to their little girl.
Yuki Maria Layla Haruno was born nine months after the battle of the Uchiha Plains, and that was why Sakura had felt different when fighting Sasuke, and felt sick when she faced the Alliance, and had felt completely filled with contentedness at her life before the battle had begun. It was the little girl inside her that had been through so much after a single night of conception.
The twin boys next to her were always around her, and were Layla's sons, born around the same time as the young six year old, with tomorrow being her birthday. After Sakura's magic had disappeared, her emotional connection with her creations had deteriorated, and they behaved like they would all the time, without succumbing to Sakura's trivial changes in emotions. These boys grew at a normal rate, as Miki and Suki were now in their teens but also grew normally. These boys would guard little Yuki with all that they had, and never back down from that promise.
And over to the rear of the room, a little four year old blond haired, green eyed boy played with two girls his age who were from the Creation City as well. His name was Altair Maki Julius Haruno, and he was born on the anniversary of their marriage. Some people in the future might wonder why Naruto's children did not inherit his last name, but that was because they were the direct descendants of Sakura's royal blood and given their titles, but Naruto was glad to give in, and his generation was perfectly fine with it.
Sakura looked over to the right to see Ino and Layla conversing with each other casually. Ino Claire-Anne Yamanaka Nara was now the Queen of the Nara Woods, and married to Shikamaru, at Sakura's blessing and the removal of her retainer status at the birth of Yuki. Even though Sakura had only left the land once to visit Ino's new home, Ino's time was different as she spent many times of the year here just relaxing with her best friend, as they happily discussed anything and everything between their two lands.
Layla was now what was now called the Governess of the Ice cities, which were three cities, each on the entrance to Port Haruno itself as well as their main city up in the mountains. Their powers remained inside them, but their loyalty was to the Queen herself and her family, and they all knew that it would be many generations to come of peace within the land. Sakura watched fondly as a brief yawn came from Ino's arms and she swooned the little boy in her arms, her second child, as a little girl held onto her gown, scared to leave her mother's side, as she was as shy as her Godmother was, when Sakura visited a foreign land.
And yet, the alliance still had one thing that all would protect, and that was the mountain pass to where Sasuke Uchiha, a name to be remembered for his ultimate sacrifice, had given his life to hold the Goddess of Misery within the seals of their shared imprisonment. She would never be allowed to escape, and no one would be allowed to get near the clearing where she was buried, and to make sure of this, three thousand soldiers, and a castle were placed above the sight, forever hiding what was truly beneath it with stone and the sounds of metal.
"Momma!" Yuki exclaimed happily as all sight turned to the girl who ran towards her mother. Sakura's feet moved before she could blink and she stared with everyone else as suddenly Yuki's hands glowed blue as ice shot out above her, into the air as fireworks exploded and people smiled at the little girl's happy surprise. "Momma, do you like it?"
Sakura sniffled and hugged her daughter tightly. "Oh my baby girl. You don't know how much I love you." Sakura had always wondered till this day how her stomach wound had healed after her powers were taken away, but it was the power inside her womb, that of her daughter, who had healed her, and Sakura's mind was filled with happiness that her daughter's magic had stayed inside her through everything that had happened.
"Momma, can I show Altair?" Yuki looked up, her cerulean blue eyes shining with such happiness, that the sun outside brightened the room and Sakura felt like it was her daughter's powers that had made it possible.
"Go ahead, sweetheart."
Sakura smiled as her daughter ran off and showed her young brother, who giggled and begged for more as kids moved from all around the room, from merchant's young children, to the little shy Nara princess from her mother's gown, to surround the young Haruno princess as she showed off for her many, many friends before the Queen moved to the side and cried happily into Naruto's neck as he held her close and tenderly kissed her hair-covered forehead.
"She has my powers, Naru." Sakura whispered excitedly, and Naruto pulled back and pecked her lips with gentle passion lingering there.
"And she will have You, her mother, to teach her everything she'll need to know."
"I love you, Naruto." Sakura smiled fondly, her eyes twinkling.
"And I love you, Sakura." Naruto smiled back as Sakura sniffled happily as they leaned forward, kissing the other deeply and with great passion between them, as only that of Man and Wife could know and understand, while down below, Naruto's hand joined with Sakura's as they fondly rubbed her new and slowly expanding belly.
Fire & Ice
It is not through Fire nor through Ice that one chooses their fate,
It is choosing to use them Both to create a life that is worth Living,
It is Fire & Ice through which we look from the past and see into a future where our lives are what they are,
And when our lives have been told, they are passed on to the next generation, and new stories are created anew,
And through these stories, there is Life,
And instead of Controlling it, just Let It Go, and Trust that it will be alright.
