It was a dark, stormy evening. Blackened clouds rolled across the sky in flocks. A roll of Thunder sounded in the distance as Maya Hart knocked on the bay window. It was Friday night and Riley finally said that she could come over again. Riley Matthews was always busy with some school activity. When no one came to the window, Maya banged on it harder.
"I'm coming, shut up." Ah yes, the sound of her loyal companion's voice.
"You could move alot faster..." Maya's sarcastic tone was flawless. Riley appeared, waved, and unbolted the window, allowing Maya to climb in through the window.
"Is your family home?" Maya asked in a quiet voice.
"Yeah, but they are all asleep. If we go to the room on the far side of the apartment, we should be fine." Riley replied. Riley was rather nervous. Maya hadn't been over in a while, and she didn't want things to get akward.
"Or we could just stay here." Maya said, flopping down on Riley's bed.
"That is true," Riley answered, moving closer to Maya, "We could have more fun here anyways." Riley smirked as she crawled up beside Maya. Maya shifted positions so that she was laying her head on Riley's shoulder. Riley put her arm around Maya and pulled her close.
"I wish we could do this more often." Riley spoke, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, same." Maya replied. She looked up at Riley, who was already looking down at her. She placed her hand on Riley's cheek and kissed her diligently. Riley kissed her back, with the same sighed and pulled away from the kiss.
"What's wrong?" Maya asked.
"Maya, you know that I love you, right?" Riley could feel the burning passion she held for Maya grow stronger.
"Yeah, I do, you've told me a thousand times. And?" Maya was confused. Why was Riley asking her these questions?
"I love you so much that it hurts. Do you... do you even feel the same?"
This was an important question for Maya. She never was really sure of what she felt. She wasn't suprised that Riley was confused since she kept her emotions so bottled up.
Maya looked into Riley's eyes. She could see the love that she carried. Riley was never scared to show her true feelings. And now it was time to tell the truth.
"Yes, Riley, I do have feelings for you. You know that I have a fear of commitment due to my father leaving my mother and I. I think that's why I've put this off."
Riley smiled at Maya. "Oh, Maya, you know that we don't have to put a label on anything. I would never force you into anything."
Relief flooded Maya, "Are you sure? I know how long you've been waiting for me to tell you how I feel. And how long you've been waiting to tell someone that we are an item. Doesn't it bother you not to tell?"
Riley shook her head, "No, Maya. Just knowing is enough. I love you enough not to tell. You've always been my love, my Hart."
Maya nuzzled her head into Riley's shoulder, "I love you, Riley".
Riley rested her head on Maya's, "I love you too."
