…Happy Harbor High School

Conner, Zatanna and Megan sat in the cafeteria eating hamburger and trader tots during lunch time.

"I just don't get why they're making us read '1984′ when Orwell got so much wrong."

Karen walks up to their table. "Hey guys, I'm selling tickets for the Junior class trip to Funland. Do you wanna go?" she asks holding the tickets.

"Sure, Funland sounds like fun." Megan says to her. "How much?"

"Forty bucks."

"Whoa!" Conner says a little stunned.

"Who has that kinda of money?" Zatanna asks.

"I do." Karen says. "The deadline's the end of next week, so let me know." she says to them and leaves.

"I can tell her right now, I'll never be able to dig up that much cash." Zatanna says.

"Me neither." Conner says. "Plus I can't ask my you know who, they're on a 'Teach him the value of a dollar' kick."

"What made them do that?" Megan asks him.

"I went on a 'Blow my allowance on dumb stuff' kick." Conner shrugs.

"Me too." Zatanna says to him.

"Though I did get an awesome new leather jacket."

"Lucky you guys." Megan says to them.

"We appreciate your concern." Zatanna says to her a little sarcastically.

"Lend me the money?" Conner asks her.

"Nope." Megan says and walks away.

"Lend me the money?" Zatanna asks Conner.

"I was going to hit you up for a loan." Conner says to her.

"How ironic. We're doomed, I guess we're going to have to get jobs."

"We really are doomed."

…Mount Justice

Zatanna's bedroom, she was reading a spell book while Conner on the computer looking up jobs.

"Accountant?" Conner asks her.

"Not that good at math remember." Zatanna says to him as she puts her book down.

"Crane operator?"

"Does that include getting me dirty?"

"Systems analyst?" Conner asks. "Hey, I can do that. Good system, bad system."

"I think you need to know something about computers." Zatanna says to him as she looks over his shoulder. "Hold everything, look at this." She says as she points to an ad. "Greater Happy Harbor cat show, grand prize one thousand dollars. It's for today at 1." She says smiling. "And there still accepting applicants."

"Thousand dollars? That's so cool!" Conner says as he looks at the ad. "All we need is a cat."

"I think you're pretty." Zatanna says to him smiling innocently.

"I don't like the way you're looking at me."

"It's a simple transformation spell and I can reverse it as soon as we win."

"I don't know."

"I'll do the application." She says as she gets the computer away from him and starts typing.

"I didn't agree to this."

"Nrut rennoC otni a ytterp tac." Zatanna says her spell Turn Conner into a pretty cat.

"Zatanna!" Conner yells out he was a cat with shot orange hair with blue eyes.

"This is our chance for a quick score." She says smiling.

"But I'm naked!" Conner yells out as he jumps off the bed and hides under it. "AHH! There's something in here with me." he says as he runs out of the bed and jumps back up to the bed turns around. "Oh, it's just my tail." He says as touches it with his paw, Zatanna looks at him raising an eyebrow looking at him. "All right." He says to her and lays down she pats his head. "Just don't let Wolf see me, or anyone else for that matter."

"Deal. Ok, Name?" she says as she looks at the computer application.

"Conner Kent."

"No way, to human." Zatanna says to him. "How about?" she says and thinks. "Simba?"

"Alright."

She types. "And what breed are you?" she asks him.

"American Shorthair."

"How do you know that?" she asks him.

"I have a lot of information in my brain." Conner says as he rolls around the bed stretching. "This is kinda fun."

"Alright then, that's it."

"OH and put down darned proud of it. The judges will eat that up."

"That's all we need, except for the five dollar application fee." Zatanna says to him.

"Don't look at me, I'm a cat." Conner says to her.

…

Zatanna and Simba walk in the building, Zatanna holding him on her arms. The first thing they see is a poster of Greater Happy Harbor Cat Show, sponsored by Feline Feast. The place is pretty full of cats looking for the big prize and they've all brought their owners along for company.

"I'll sign us in, you get the last cage." She says to him as she puts him down.

"Alright." he says to her and looks around then runs up to the cage jumps up inside it and with a pillow inside it and curls up.

Zatanna comes back after signing them in. "I got you a number, Thirty-eight." She says showing him the button and puts it on herself. "You comfortable in there?" she asks him.

"I feel like a caged animal." He says with a sigh. "Oh look at all these losers."

"Hey, you'd better behave yourself."

"I will."

"You always say that but-What am I doing, if people see me talking to my cat they'll think I'm nuts."

"Look around."

Zatanna does, everybody was talking to their cats.

"Yes you are, yes you are." A middle age woman says to her cat.

"You wanna be a winner, think like a winner." A man says to his cat.

"Creepy." Zatanna says as she turns to him.

"No kidding." He says to her.

"What a pretty cat." Zatanna turns to see a middle-aged woman in a blazer holding her gray cat, She has a lot of blue ribbon rosette's fastened to her blazer. "Oh no ribbons?" She says as she looks at Conner.

"This is our first show." Zatanna says to her.

"Duke has won quite a few times, see." She says as she shows Zatanna the row of ribbons on her blazer then pulls it back to reveal another row on her sweater.

"It's nice of your cat to let you wear them." Zatanna says to her a little weirded out.

"Oh yes. He's a Burmese you know. What's yours?"

"An American short hair."

"A-hem!" Conner clears his throat.

"And darned proud of it." she adds smiling.

"Well the Burmese judging is up first so we'd better go finish grooming." She leaves.

"Welcome to the Greater Boston cat show, I'm Bob Smith. Today I will be selecting for best of breed. I hope you're all prepared for a thorough and perhaps, even, grueling competition and the winner will win a thousand dollars."

"Pst, Zatanna." Conner/Simba whispers.

"Yeah?" Zatanna says as she whispers back.

"Get the brush, I'm shedding like crazy." He whispers to her a little panic.

…

Bob Smith holds Conner/Simba up above his head and inspects him closely. Dick walks in the room looking for Zatanna.

"Zatanna?" Dick says as he walks in the room.

"Dick!" Zatanna yells surprised as she tries to block the view of Conner the cat. "What are you doing here?" she asked quickly.

"Looking for you, you haven't been answering your phone and Bruce is looking for Conner have you seen him."

"Not at all." She says to him.

Dick looks behind her. "What is he looking for?" he asks as Bob Smith looks at Simba belly not knowing it was Conner.

"To see if it's a boy or a girl?" she shrugs.

"This cat has excellent bone structure, a lovely coat and a somewhat bemused expression. This is one of my top three American short hairs." Bob Smith says petting him.

"Whoo-hoo!" Zatanna cheers smiling, Dick looks at her a little confused.

Bob hands Conner/Simba back to Zatanna she takes him and kisses his head. "Congratulations. Now let's begin the parade of semi-finalists." Bob says to everybody.

"You have a cat?" Dick asks her.

"Parade?" Zatanna asks confused as they gather around in a circle, pushing Dick to the back of the building.

"Watch out for Andrew, he'll try to trip you." A middle-age woman says to her.

"Watch out for Mrs. Ericson, she plays head games." Another middle-age woman says to her.

"Watch out for Haley, she's paranoid." A man says to him.

"Here we go." Bob Smith says to them as he plays music.

Piano music strikes up and the semifinalists all sashay past the judge in a sort of conga line with silly little dances steps showing off their cats. Zatanna moves along with the circle.

"This is the cheesiest thing I've ever done." Zatanna says to Conner/Simba.

"Smile." Conner/Simba says to her.

Zatanna smiles at Bob Smith and has her heal clipped by Andrew behind her.

"Hey!" Zatanna yells him as she almost trips.

"Did I step on your shoe?"

Zatanna sticks her tongue out at him, Conner/Simba hisses at him, he steps back.

"Good boy." She whispers at him.

"Meow." Conner says to her, she giggles.

…

"How am I supposed to choose?" Bob Smith says looking at all of the cats as the owners hold them.

Zatanna pets Conner/Simba on her shoulder, Dick comes up.

"That's Conner isn't it?" Dick asks her, he rubs Conner's head playing with his ears.

"Yeah." Zatanna says to him. "Don't tell anyone ok, we just really need the money."

"This is so much fun." He teases.

"Speck for yourself, I've been grooming myself." Conner says to them, Dick chuckles.

"Now we will begin the one on one interview." Bob Smith says to them.

"Interviews?" Dick, Zatanna and Conner ask.

Bob Smith's office.

He sits behind the desk, Zatanna sits in front with Conner/Simba in her lap. His front paws rest on the desk top.

"What can you tell me about Simba temperament?" Bob Smith asks Zatanna.

"Well he's very friendly, he loves water and extremely over protective." Zatanna says to him, petting him.

"Sounds like he's all cat."

"Right, and he's got a real head for numbers. May I demonstrate?" Zatanna asks him, he nods. She picks up a special board they've prepared numbered from 0 to 9 and places it on the desk in front of Conner/Simba. "Ask him a simple multiplication question."

"Okay, Simba, er what's seven times five?"

Conner/Simba places his paw first on the three and then on the five.

"Amazing!" Bob Smith yells out surprised. "Although we do judge purely on appearance."

"Isn't that life?" she asks him.

The main cat show room, Bob comes out of the office followed by Zatanna and Conner/Simba.

"Will all of our semifinalists please bring their cats forward. I will now announce my best of breed decisions." Bob Smith says to them. Zatanna steps up alone with two other people. Dick was still there hanging in the back with his phone camera. Bob Smith walks over to Zatanna and picks up Simba. "I am pleased and proud to announce, and with the upmost integrity, that Simba is best of show grand champion." He says smiling.

"Whoo-hoo!" Zatanna yells out happy.

The other contestants applaud politely.

"The others are going to be so happy." Dick says as he holds the camera phone.

…Mount Justice

"I got your chin." Megan says scratching under his Conner's chin as he sat on her lap.

Conner purrs liking it. "Stop that." he says as he runs away and to the kitchen counter. "Zatanna undo the spell." He says to her. "Please." He begs.

"Yeah yeah, ok." She says as she puts down her ice cream bowl.

"Wait!" Roy yells out as he takes a picture of Conner one last time. "Ok go."

"Jump down." Zatanna says to him, Conner jumps down the counter and sits on the floor. "Egnahc Rennoc kcab ot a namuh." Zatanna says Change Conner back to a human.

There is a silver smoke around Conner and it gets bigger then it disappears and Conner appears with clothes, he turns around to see his butt. "Oh thank god, no tail." He sighs.

"Aw man, can we change him back? I liked him better as a cat." Dick says to him.

Conner sticks his tongue out at him. "Thanks." he says to Zatanna, as he starts to licks his hand. They look at him and chuckle, he stops licking his hand. "That was weird." He mumbles.

"That was so great." Wally says smiling.

"Shut up or Zatanna will turn you into a fish." Conner says to him.

"OH I can turn you into a parrot, here let me give it a shot." Zatanna says ready to do the spell.

"NO!" they all yell out, Wally as a parrot? No way.

"Ok fine a fish." Zatanna says to them.

"No more magic." Dick says to her.

"You are such a worrywart." Zatanna says to him and goes back to eating her ice-cream.

…Happy Harbor high school

"Okay, today I'd like to spend some time making a list of possible ways to raise some money for this years prom." Wendy says to the student council. Conner, Mike, Karen and Marvin with everyone else looks at her. "Anyone? Anyone at all?" she asks them.

Karen raises her hand. "Last year I wrote, produced and modeled in a fabulous fashion show."

"Didn't that lose six hundred dollars?" Mike asks her.

"So? I got to keep my wardrobe."

"We could raffle off a Cadillac." Marvin says to her.

"Do you know someone who has one?" Mike asks him a little hopeful.

"No, I'm just an idea man." Marvin says to her smiling.

"Conner, you usually have good ideas." Wendy asks him. "What sort of a fundraiser would you suggest?"

Conner thinks. "We can have a pancake breakfast to raise money." He says to her.

"Did you just think of that?" Mike asks him.

"Yeah, why?" Conner says to him.

"Oh I love pancakes! Those soft, flaky, fluffy, buttery, melt in your mouth." Marvin says and everyone's mouth starts to water all of sudden really wanting pancakes. "DO YOU HAVE ANY?!" he blurts out desperate.

"I think it's a great idea. A pancake breakfast it is. End of meeting." Wendy says smiling. "Marvin, you're drooling." She points out, he wipes his chin.

"Mike, hey I wanted to talk to you-?" Conner says as he walks up to him.

"We can't talk right now, we have to get too the pool, coach will have a fit if we're late." Mike says as he leaves the room.

"But I really want to talk." Conner whines as he leaves.

"Conner can we talk." Wendy says to him.

Conner looks at her. "Can't talk I have to get to the pool or coach will have a fit." He says to her quickly leaving not wanting to talk to her.

…pool

"Next week we are going up against Cranston East this is going to be our opening act." Coach Kipling says to them. "So we better win." He says seriously. "Go home, sleep, eat, and come back to practice early at 4, no extracurricular activities. And don't forget to ask your parents about the permissions slips they have to sign if you're leaving the city." He says to them, he sighs. "I hate parents." He mumbles and walks off.

The team starts to disperse.

"Mike." Conner says as he tries to catch up to him.

"I gotta get home." Mike says to him as they rush in the locker room.

"I'll go with ya."

"No."

"I brought my bike."

"I'm not letting you drive." Mike says to him remembering the last time he drove, he was a crazy driver.

"You can drive." Conner says to him.

"I don't know how to drive a bike."

"I'll teach you."

"Conner just leave me alone."

"Lovers spat." Riki says to them seeing them argue. Both Conner and Mike look at him, Mike glaring, Conner sighs. "Nice joke Riki." He says to himself and walks away to take a shower.

"Mike-"

"I can't talk to you ok, I have to concentrate on the competition, I'm a senior and I want to get a scholarship. I can't think about you anymore. So just forget about what I said. Let's just be friends, and forget everything else." Mike says to him and walks off.

"Well that went well." Conner mumbles to himself.

…Mount Justice

"So what's the problem?" Zatanna asks Conner as he holds the piece of paper.

"I haven't told Superman." Conner tells her.

"But you told Batman." Megan says to him.

"But I didn't tell Superman." Conner says again.

"Why not?"

"Would you believe me if I said I forgot."

"No." the two girls say to him.

"Do you think he might believe me?"

They look at each other then back at him. "No." they say again.

"Ok then time to fake the signature." Conner says as he grabs a pen.

"What signature?" Kal asks walking in.

"Geez Kal, knock much?" Conner says as he hides the paper behind him.

"It's the kitchen."

"Good point. Gotta go." Conner says quickly leaving, Kal takes the paper from him.

"What's this? Love letter?"

"Paper, never since paper before? It grows on trees. Technology really is ruining the world." Conner says sarcastically and tries to get the paper from Kal.

Kal gets the paper away from him. "It's a permission slip." He says as he reads.

"Kal." Conner says as he jumps over to get the paper.

"For swimming?" Kal says as he pulls away.

"Why I'm I so short? You know I haven't grown an inch since I came out of my pod." Conner says trying to change the subject. "It's very strange."

"Why do you have a permission slip for swimming?" Kal asks him, looking at him.

"It's not mine!" Conner yells out.

"It says Conner Kent." He says showing him the paper that had his name on it.

"Damn." Conner says as he looks at it. "When did I become a bad lair?" he asks himself.

"When you joined swimming, I bet it's the chlorine." Zatanna says to him. "Or it could be the dumb jock thing, it's a disease apparently it's spread by contact."

"You already joined?" Kal asks him.

Conner looks at her.

"Not helping?" she asks him.

"Go away." Conner says to her.

"Make sure to mention that Mike's in the team." Zatanna says as walks away with Megan behind her.

"Make sure to die." Conner says to her.

Megan chuckles with Zatanna.

"Did you join because of Mike?"

"Of course not." Conner says to him. "Yes but not because I have feelings for him because he asked me too." He says truthfully.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because I knew you'd say I was cheating with my powers and its irresponsible and no."

"That's true."

"See I knew it."

"But it's ok. I'm glad you have friends." Kal says smiling. "Even though you tend to sleep with most of them." He says thinking about what he had said.

"Hey! At least I get-" Conner says to him, Kal raise an eyebrow. "friends." He says hesitantly. Kal gets the pen from him and signs the permission slip. "Seriously?" he asks as he gives him the paper.

"Yeah, I'll be there at the stands to cheer you on." Kal says to him.

"I changed my mind, I'm quitting the team."

"Too late, I already signed it." he says as he takes back the paper.

"Are you sure? I mean I am going to be swimming in a pool with Mike."

"Great."

"Whom I have had sex with."

"It's good to be friends with ex's." Kal says a little uncomfortable.

"A lot of times." He adds.

"Stop it." Kal says to him.

"In different positions." He adds again.

"I'm not listening!" Kal says covering his ears walking away.

"In different rooms!" Conner yells out running after him.

…Mike's house

"Hi Mr. Shepard, is Mike home?" Conner asks him as he opens the door.

"Hi Conner, yes he's upstairs in his room." Mr. Shepard says to him. "You too have been spending a lot of time together."

"Sorry?" Conner says a little confused.

"You guys going to the competition?" Mr. Shepard says to him.

"Yeah, my brothers going to be there." Conner says annoyed.

"Not your parents?"

"No, they don't like sports." Conner says, Mr. Shepard looks at him. "I'll be upstairs."

"I'll get you guys some chips."

"No, it's alright Mr. S, I won't be staying long." He says to him walking up the stairs.

"Dad it's called knocking!" Mike says as the door opens, he was in his computer doing his homework.

"I don't look that old, do I?" Conner says as he looks at him leaving the door open.

"Hey Conner, what's up?" Mike says as he turns around his desk computer.

"Look, I feel really bad about what happened."

"Yeah, well, you should." Mike says to him. "But it doesn't matter anymore."

"I'm sorry about Wendy. I don't want you to be mad at me."

"I'm not mad at you!" Mike yells out a little annoyed.

"Look, it was a mistake. I didn't know what I was doing."

"I can't believe you kissed her!" Mike yells at him now angry.

"I didn't." Conner says to him.

"Yeah, right! Conner, I know what I saw! Don't pretend to be so innocent. You know exactly how I still felt about you, you could have at least waited a week or two!" Mike yells at him, Mr. Shepard outside the door overhearing.

"But I told you I couldn't be with you, now you're acting as though you're in love with me." Conner says to him, Mike looks at him, then looks away. "You're in love with me?!" he asks him shocked.

"Don't change the subject! You've really hurt me, Conner! That's all there is to it! You've betrayed me!" Mike yells at him, Mr. Shepard quickly goes back downstairs.

"So that's it?" Conner asks him.

"Yeah, that's it." Mike says at him. "Now get out." he tells him angry.

"I'm sorry." Conner says to him and leaves going downstairs, Mr. Shepard standing down by the stairs. "Bye." He says to him, the front door opens and Mrs. Shepard walks in.

"Hi Conner." Mrs. Shepard says to him, Conner runs out. "Bye, Conner. What's going on?" she asks her husband who looked frozen. "Honey? Are you ok? Should I call a doctor?"

"I need to lay down."

…Mount Justice

Conner is sitting on Zatanna's bed she was sitting next to him against the headboard, she was reading a spell book waiting for him to say something, he hadn't said anything since he just walked in her room.

"So what's up?" Zatanna asks him closing her book.

"Mike's mad."

"Mike huh?"

Conner sighs. "Yes Mike, is it that big of a deal? Me and him? Even Roy looks at me weird sometimes."

"It's not a big deal, it's a little deal but still a deal none the less."

Conner looks at her. "Huh?" he says confused.

"Why didn't you tell us?" she asks changing the subject.

"I don't know." Conner says to. "Well I do know, all of you guys have a life outside the hero stuff, I don't. I just wanted something for myself."

"That's not true, I don't have a life outside the hero world neither, not anymore anyway."

"Guess we have more in common with each other."

"Who knew?" Zatanna shrugs.

"Yeah."

"So you are gay, right?"

"Seriously?" he asks looking at her.

"Oh come on, your acting as if a girl dumped you, so are you? You can tell me."

"Zee." Conner whines looking away from her.

"Listen, if this is about you not being sure who you are-"

"I know who I am. I'm Superboy, I like reading and being a superhero. I was born in a pod and I have a big family who I love and sometimes hate. That's it."

Zatanna looks at him for a while. "So you're not gay?" she asks him.

"I-God, I don't know. You guys are all, pick a side like its Yankees/Red sox." Conner says to her trying to explain. "When I have feelings for a person, it's for that person. Not their gender. Can't you just like someone without it being a political statement?"

"I'm not sure what country you've been living in. Everything's a political statement." Zatanna tells me with a smile, he scoffs. "But you know being bisexual is a thing, y'know."

Conner sighs lays down and turns his back to her. "I don't want to talk about it anymore."

"Ok, let's talk about how you don't consider yourself Conner Kent or Kon-El but Superboy."

"I'm out." Conner says as he rolls out of bed getting up on his feet and walks out.

…

Conner was sitting in the living room with his feet up on the coffee table, Wolf under him. Wolf barks. Conner gives him a dog treat. "Don't worry, I'm almost finished." He says to him.

"Conner have you seen-" Roy starts and looks at him. "Why do you have my laptop?"

"Mine broke, super speed typing never doing that again." Conner says to him as he types. "Don't worry I'm almost done."

"What ya writing?" Roy ask leaning over his shoulder trying to read.

"A book report on The Sound and the Fury."

"Seriously? What are ya writing?"

"Never read the book?"

"Yes, I meant the paper." Roy says to him.

"The pivotal character, Caddy, is seen only through the gaze of her brothers. And only in silhouette, running, vanishing, forever elusive, forever out of reach a reflection of their desires."

"Wow that's really good."

"Why do you sound surprised?" Conner asks turning to look at him.

"What? No! I'm just-" Roy says walking backwards walks into the small sapling that's grown by the side of the counter. "OW!" he yells out looking behind him.

"Careful, tree in the kitchen." Conner says going back to typing.

"What gives?" Roy asks.

"Ask Zatanna."

"Zatanna!" Roy yells out as he looks at the tree it was growing…money?

Zatanna walks in the kitchen and sees the tree. "What's up?" she asks.

"Why is there a tree growing in the kitchen?" Roy asks her.

"It's growing money, duh."

"Holy crap! I thought I was hallucinating!" He gets a hundred dollar out of the tree. "Is this a real?" he says as he inspects it.

"Yeah. But it'll only go up to 50, 000 so get it while it's fresh." Zatanna says to him and walk so over to Conner. "Are you almost done?" she asks him.

"I just need… the conclusion…and I will be…done with this…thing in less…than…a…done!" Conner says slowly. "And Save." He saves his work and puts the laptop down. "Where do you wanna go?" he asks as he hops off the couch and up to her.

"I wanna visit my cousin." Zatanna says to him.

"Ok." Conner says to her, Wolf barks. "Oh right, can we take Wolf? He gets bored."

"Sure, let's go." Zatanna says to him.

"Wait, what do I do about the tree?" Roy asks them.

"It's an investment tree." Zatanna says to him.

"Yeah, we decide to invest wisely." Conner says to him smiling. "Don't touch our money." He says to him seriously.

"But the tree-" Roy starts as he points to it.

"It'll stop growing in a 3 days." Zatanna shrugs.

"Don't touch our money." Conner says again, he puts a hand on Zatanna's shoulder and the other one in Wolf's head. "I'm serious." He says to him.

"Las Vegas." Zatanna says to him they teleport out.

"Is it weird that I'm not astonished anymore?" Roy asks as he looks at the tree growing more money right in front of his eyes.

Nevada…Las Vegas

"Now what?" Conner asks her, Wolf looks at them a little confused.

"We need clothes and for Wolf to be smaller." Zatanna says to him. "Egnahc ot ycnaf sehtolc." She says Change to fancy clothes, a puff of sliver smoke appears around them and disappears. She was in a black tight dress with boots, he was in a suit, red tie and he looks down at his black fancy shoes.

"No way." He says to her.

She rolls her eyes. "Fine. Stoob." She says and his combat boots appear.

"Thank you." He says to her.

"Flow otni god." Zatanna says Wolf into Dog. Wolf turns into white husky. "Hsael." She says and a black leash appears into her hand and she crunches down and puts it around Wolf.

Conner grabs the leash and they start walking, he puts his arm around her shoulder. "Now, where is your cousin-what's his name?"

"Zach."

"Zach Zatara?" he asks her as they start walking. "Seriously?"

"Conner Kent?" she asks him.

"Point taken."

"Zach is a little, how should I put it?" she says as she thinks. "A brat."

"Is he as powerful as you?"

"Oh yeah totally just kinda limited."

"Yeah, I hope so." She says.

They walk around some more and see a building with a giant sign. Tonight for one night only Zachary Zatara! The Man of Magic! They go to the long line and go right up to the front cutting. Conner grabs Zatanna's hand and just teleport in, a couple of people do a double take then thinking they went crazy. They look around the giant auditorium, some people already taking their seats.

"Do you see him?" Conner asks her still holding her hand.

"No, he must be in the back." Zatanna says to him. They teleport to the back, they walk around the halls trying to find his name in one of the doors. "Here he is." She says as she opens the door. "Zach? Are you in here?" she asks as she walks in.

"Should we come back later?" Conner asks her as Wolf starts to sniff everything in the room.

"Zach, it's me Zatanna."

"Hey cousin what brings you around?" Zach asks as he appears behind a red curtain. He was wearing his magician suit, he was in his mid-20s. "Have you seen my hat?" he asks her.

"Is that the one in the ceiling?" Conner says to him as he points up to it.

"Thanks." Zach says as the hat starts to fly down to his hand. "Who's the pretty boy? Your boyfriend?" he asks her.

"No, this is Conner." Zatanna says to him letting go of his hand.

"Hi, this is Wolf." He says to him and looks at Wolf, he barks. "He used to be-"

"A wolf, I can tell. Bad energy flow." Zach says to him. "Good transformation spell though, you're getting better at them." He says to Zatanna.

"I don't know what that means but ok." Conner shrugs and bents down petting Wolf, he whines. "Zatanna I don't think he's happy."

"I'll turn him back as soon as we're done." Zatanna says to him. "So what do you have for me?" she asks him.

"Koob." Zach says as he puts up both his hand and book appears on them.

"A book?"

"A family book." Zach says to her. "Happy 15 birthday." He says to her and kisses her forehead.

"It's your birthday?" Conner asks her.

"Yeah, but let's not make a big deal about it." she says to him as she looks at the book. It said Book of Zatara. "It looks so old." She says as she touches it, it was made of leather.

"It belongs to our family, being passed down from generation to generation. The Book will grow as we grow. Sometimes you'll add to it and sometimes it teaches you." Zach says to her with a smile. "There aren't many people that can handle being part of our legacy, but I've been feeling your powers grow and your father would be so proud of you." He gives her the book. "Here, it's yours. Maybe it'll help you set your father free."

"Thank you Zach." She says and hugs him.

"OH hey, what's family for." Zach says to her, hugging her back. "But if I ever need the book, I'll text you first before I call for it."

"That would be a good idea."

Conner walks to them. "Can I see it?" he says as he tries to touch it.

"NO! It's mine!" Zatanna yells out protecting it.

"OK geez, I just wanted to see it."

"No, I ddin't mean, wassss ddoooonn." She says trying to talk, she turns to Zach. "What's happening to me?" she asks him.

"The book doesn't like other people only Zatara's are able to touch it, it's a protection spell." Zach says simply.

"Zach you're up." A man says as he opens the door.

"Alright." Zach says as he puts his hat on. "You staying?" he asks them.

"Sure." Zatanna says to him as she starts flipping through the pages.

"I love a good magic show." Conner says to him.

"Hey Zach, these spells, there-"

"I know, try not to use them too much, they'll drain you if you're not careful." Zach says to her, he puts his arm around Conner. "Make sure you got your boyfriend with you, with him around you'll never be tired."

"I have no idea what that means either." Conner says as he looks up at Zach who was taller than him.

"You taste like sugar."

Conner looks over at looks at Zatanna. "Should I be worried?"

"Get off him Zach." Zatanna says as she pushes Zach away from Conner. "He's not a battery and he's not my boyfriend."

"Sure, I gotta go." Zach says to him. "Magic to perform." He says as he throws his hat up and it lands on his head. "Later, cuz."

…Cranston East High School

"Alright this is it the big one, today we are going to be in competition and the whole idea behind is-?" Couch Kipling says to the team waiting for them to answer. They were wearing their yellow and black jammers.

"Have fun." Conner says smiling.

"To win! Kent! Haven't I taught you anything."

"It was going to be my next guess." He says to him.

"Now go win!" Coach Kipling says to them.

"He's so nice." Conner says to Mike a little sarcastically.

"Always has been." Mike says to him, and walks off.

"Looks like he's still mad." Riki says to Conner as he walks Mike walk off.

"Yeah, you noticed huh?"

"What are you guys fighting about anyways?"

"Nothing, it's stupid."

"Right well if-" Riki starts looks over the stands. "Hey check it out that guy looks like you."

"Who?" Conner says looking over the stands.

"The guy, who is now waving at us, do you know him?"

"Yeah, he's my brother." Conner says as he waves back awkwardly seeing Zatanna, Wally, Megan and Dick. "With my other brothers, great."

"Well he looks like you."

"Actually I look like him, he's older than me." Conner says to him.

"Is he a smartass like you?" Riki asks him.

"Nah, I got that from my other dad." Conner says accidently.

"What?" Riki asks him confused.

"Other parent, gotta go." He walks off quickly.

"That still doesn't make sense." Riki says even more confused.

"That was awesome Conner." Sam says to him as he helps him out of the pool. "I think you broke the record."

"No I didn't."

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a new record set at 2:04.05, by Conner Kent." The announcer says to the pool everybody starts clapping and yaying.

"Damn it." Conner mumbles.

"Ok when guys break records they go celebrate not get all depressed about it." Sam says to him.

"Oh Conner." Clark says in the stands shaking his head.

"I can't believe he did that." Wally says. "Even I know not to break records."

"I thought he understood he couldn't do that." Clark says.

"You don't know Conner very well do you?" Zatanna asks him.

"I'm gonna go talk to him." Megan says.

"No, I will." Clark says getting up from the stands and walking down.

"I'm gonna get more popcorn." Dick says getting up.

"I'll make us some." Zatanna says to him. "Ekam nrocpop." She says make popcorn and more popcorn appear in the bag.

Dick sits back down and they start eating the popcorn. Dick looks over at Wally and Megan.

"You know maybe you should cut back on the magic." Wally says to her.

"What?" Zatanna asks him a little confused.

"Yes, we have money." Megan adds.

"The popcorn is only a dollar." Dick says to her.

"Yeah, I guess." Zatanna says.

"Cool, I'll go get us some then." Dick says and gets back up.

"Conner, come here." Clark says to him, he walks up to him. "Do I have to hit you for you to understand?"

"I'm sorry." Conner says to him. "I didn't mean to beat the record. It just happened."

"You have to be careful." Clark says to him.

"I know."

"I'm sorry? I know?" Clark says to him repeating his words. "What's wrong with you? Are you on red kryptonite again."

"Mike's mad at me." Conner pouts.

"Oh." Clark says awkwardly.

Conner looks at him. "Could you send somebody else down here, their better at the whole talking thing."

"I didn't mean Oh, I meant." He says awkwardly again. "I mean oh." He says sounding upset.

"You really suck, you know that."

"Shepard, Kent get over here." Coach Kipling says to them.

"Hold that, non-thought." Conner says to him and walks off.

"I really do suck." Clark says to himself.

"Are you Conner's father?"

"No." he says quickly, then turns to the person who said it. "I'm his brother." He says with a smile.

"That explains why you two look alike." Mr. Shepard says to him.

"You're not a teacher are you?" Clark says to him.

"No, I'm Mike's father."

"Mike? Oh…great." He says to him.

"They've been hanging around each other a lot."

"They're good friends."

"They're fighting right now."

"You noticed?"

"Kinda of hard not to."

"So where are your parents?"

"My parents?" Clark asks. "Kansas at the moment."

"Kansas?" Mr. Shepard asks confused. "But what about Conner?"

"Conner lives here."

"Conner doesn't-Right!" Clark says remembering. "Yeah right, that's true. I gotta go." He says quickly and walks back up to the stands.

"Yeah coach?" both Mike and Conner say as they walk over to him.

"It's about the 1500 mile freestyle."

"I'm all ready for that coach." Mike says to him.

"Shepard your out, Kent you're in." Coach Kipling says to him and starts to walk off.

"WHAT!" Mike and Conner yell out and they walks after him. "But Coach I'm-"

"Shepard, I'm sorry but Kent is a born swimmer. You'll do better next competition." Coach Kipling says to them and walks off.

"Well then I guess, you can rest now." Conner says to Mike, Mike glares at him and walks out of the gym into the locker room. "Oh no Mike, come back! You can cheer for me and…" he stops talking. "I'm such a bad friend."

"Are you ok?" Zatanna asks him. "I couldn't help but overhear where I was trying to overhear."

"Yeah I'm fine." Conner says with a fake smile. "no." he whines and walks off followed by Zatanna outside.

"Conner what happen?" Zatanna asks as she looks around some girls looking at him smiling and giggling in his jammers. "Maybe we should go inside."

"Mike said he loved me and now he's all made that I didn't say it back!" Conner yells at everybody looks at him. "It's not fair, I didn't ask for him to love me, I didn't ask for Wendy to kiss me at the dance and I didn't ask to join the stupid swim team. I hate this!"

"Ok calm down."

"Why? It's not going to help, my relationship with Mike is ruined, my relationship with Wendy is ruined, and I hate sports!" Conner yells angry. Zatanna looks at him, Conner looks back at her. "Ok this is the part where you give me advice." He says calmly.

"I can make your feeling go away."

"I like the sound of that." Conner says smiling.

"Ok, but first, let's get away from people." Zatanna says to him as she grabs his hand and they walk away, away from people.

"Ok. Grab my hand." Zatanna says to him, he grabs her hand. "Dekcol ni, dexob ni, lluf fo snoitome. Esare sgnileef, ekam meht evael." Locked in, boxed in, full of emotions. Erase feelings, make them leave.

Shiny red cloud flies up from Conner and Zatanna then it spreads out of into the sky. "Should we be worried that it got you too?" Conner asks her.

"Nah, if it goes out of control I'll just undo it." Zatanna shrugs.

"Yeah, alright." Conner shrugs as well they both walk off and back into the gym.

"Conner." Mike walks up to him, Conner looks at him. "I think you're being a real asshole-"

"Yeah ok." Conner shrugs and walks off not caring.

"He's been feeling bad." Zatanna shrugs and walks off. "Maybe I should undo spell…nah." She says starts to walk up the stands to where the small group where at.

"Hey, what where you and Conner doing?" Dick asks her.

"Nothing."

"Did he say anything about Mike?" Megan asks her.

"Nah, it was no big deal."

"Are you sure, it sounded like a big deal." Clark says to her.

"Yeah, don't worry about it." Zatanna says to him, and points. "Conner's up. Go Conner." She says unenthusiastically.

…Mount Justice

"Conner, doesn't care, Zatanna doesn't care." Dick says as they walk in the cave. "I smell a spell."

Conner and Zatanna roll their eyes. "Whatever."

"Is that slacker for yes?" Artemis asks them.

"Reverse it." Clark says to her.

"Whatever." Zatanna says to him and grabs Conner's hand. "Odnu." She simply says undo. The red shiny cloud from before comes back and hits them both. They shake their heads and sigh.

"That was fun." Conner says to her.

"You're welcome." Zatanna says to him smiling.

Conner picks up their hands, they were still holding each. "Question, I'm I your battery?"

She looks at their hands. "No?" she says knowing he knew she was lying, he lets go of her hand and crosses his arms. "OH come on! You run on solar energy. You weren't going to miss it."

"You know, you could have just asked."

"I'm sorry." Zatanna says to him. "I'll never do it again." She says in a panic voice.

"It's ok, just warn me next time, I feel all woozy when you do it." Conner says to her.

"I promise." Zatanna says to him and they hug then separate.

"Ok! Now that that's settled, let's talk about you putting a spell on Conner." Clark asks them.

"He told me too." Zatanna says pointing to Conner.

"Ok, I'm mad at you again."

"Shall I do a spell?" she asks smiling.

"No!" they all yell out.

"I was gonna say yes." Conner says to her.

"OH!" Zatanna yells out. "Wanna try a Lost and Found Spell?" she asks him.

"Yeah, I lost my watch." Conner says to her.

"Alright."

"No, no more spells." Dick says to her.

"Who are you my father?" Zatanna asks him, and hold Conner hands. "Wohs em eht htap that I tonnac dnif, ot dnif s'rennoC tsol hctaw." She says the spell. Show me the path that I cannot find, to find Conner's lost watch.

A little green dot shows up then disappears. "Well I'm glad I got woozy for that." Conner says sarcastically.

"There's more battery." Zatanna says to him.

"Watch it. Battery will get angry." Conner says to her a little annoyed.

The green dot comes back and the watch appears as well. "Hey, my watch." Conner says smiling as he takes it looking at it.

"That's my watch." Clark says he looks at it.

"Oh yeah." Conner says to him as he looks at the watch. "I found your watch." He says as he gives him the watch, Clark takes it from him glaring.

"Wanna go to the beach?" Zatanna asks.

"It's 8 pm." Dick says to her.

"In Australia it's 5 am." Conner suggests. "Plus, No people."

"Good idea." Zatanna says to him, she grabs Conner's hand. "Egnahc sehtolc." She says Change clothes, and they change into their swim suits, Conner with his black trunks and Zatanna with her purple bikini. "Anyone wanna come?" she asks them.

"Hold that thought. Wolf!" Conner yells out and runs in. "Let's go." He says to them.

"Later." Zatanna says to them.

"Do I taste like sugar?" Conner asks her.

"No." she says a little confused.

…Australia

"Aw man, I forgot Wolfs ball." Conner says.

"S'flow llab." Zatanna says and Wolf's ball appears on her hand she gets all the way down. "Oh my god! What the hell is this thing made out of?!" she yells out as she rubs her palm.

"Steel." Conner says to her as he picks it up. "Wanna get the ball." He says as he waves the ball around. Wolf barks, he throws the ball. "Go get it!" he yells out, Wolf runs out.

"You know Conner, with your help I might actually be able to free my father."

Conner smiles. "You're my friend Zatanna, I'd do anything for you."

"I don't think anyone has ever said that to me before." Zatanna says to him then she smiles. "I like that."

…Mount Justice

"Dude, that girl in the black bikini was totally checking you out." Zatanna says to him. "I can't believe I just said."

"No, she wasn't." Conner says to her.

"Look, the girl was eyeing you like you were a snow cone, dude. You should've got her number and I should stop talking like a dude."

"I can't just walk up to a girl on the beach and get her phone number."

"Yeah, well lucky for you…I can." She says to him and shows him the paper. "She says to call her next time you're in Sydney."

"You know maybe I should start hang out with Roy again, at least he took the number for himself." Conner says as he takes the paper.

"Call her."

"I don't think so."

"Call her."

"Yeah ok, and now we have to get to school." Conner says as he puts the paper on his pocket, Wolf goes over to the couch and lays down exhausted. "I have to change clothes.

"I know, fashion show!" Zatanna says to him, she grabs his hand "Noihsaf wohs." She says it backwards a giant cat-walk edged with foot-lights appears in the briefing room. "Sehtolc." She says clothes. Conner was wearing his S uniform clothes, and she was wearing her magician uniform. "oops."

"Another clothes, please?" Conner says to her.

"Egnahc sehtolc." Zatanna says to him, Change clothes.

Conner was a dress, and Zatanna was wearing Conner's jeans and his t-shirt.

"Does this make my look fat?" Conner asks.

"Sorry. Egnahc sehtolc." Zatanna says again.

Conner is wearing his jeans and black shirt that says 'I'm not childish…you're just a big doody head. "Finally." he says to her.

"Egnahc sehtolc." She says, and a wears a purple skirt, her hair up in a ponytail and blue shirt. "Nice." She says, she jumps up to the cat-walk and Conner jumps up with her. "Cisum." She says Music and snaps her fingers.

They walk up and down and swings her hips as she struts its length gracefully turning at the end, they giggle.

"I'm the best." Conner says as he crosses his arms.

"Ah yes, Kate Moss eat your heart out." Zatanna says as she twirls. "Oh that's right, you don't eat."

"Shouldn't you guys be in school and has there always been in cat-way in the briefing room?" Megan says as he looks at the cat-way.

"Why aren't you at school?" Conner asks her.

"I got first period off."

Zatanna grabs Conner's hand. "Odnu." She says everything goes away except for their clothes.

"You know, you've been using a lot of magic recently, don't you think you should cut back a little?" Megan asks her.

"What's wrong?" Conner asks him. "Not having fun?" he asks.

Zatanna looks at him. "I'm trying to perfect my magic, and practice makes perfect." She says smiling.

"Come on nobody's ever died from it." Conner says to him. "That I know of."

Zatanna shakes her head.

"Ok, ok, ok, no need to double team me." Megan says to him. "Good luck at school."

"Bye." They say to him.

"Ok, maybe Dick is right. Maybe they do have a thing for each other." Megan says. "Damn it." she mumbles.

…Happy Harbor High School

Zatanna and Conner were on the grass under a tree, Zatanna had her legs tanged up with his, his arm around her she leans on him laughing.

"Ok I got one." Zatanna says to him. "Would you rather have a real Christmas tree or a fake one?"

"Considering I've never had a Christmas to celebrate, I'm gonna go with real."

"Oh that is so sad." She says to him.

"Really? What's the big deal?"

"Christmas is…the caroling, the gifts, the food, and the wishing of good cheer to all it's like they came together to create one incredible, special day named Christmas."

"Ok."

"This year we are going to celebrate Christmas lights and all." She says smiling.

"Ok. My turn." Conner says to her not caring. "Would you rather never age but you can still die or never die?"

"Oh come on, it's Christmas!"

"Zatanna, I know everything about Christmas, it is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and a widely observed holiday, celebrated generally on December 25 by millions of people around the world."

"Stop!" Zatanna yells at him putting her hand up.

"What?" he says a little hurt that she yelled at him.

"Sorry." She says to him and kisses his cheek. "But this year we are going to do Christmas my way."

"Ok."

"Be excited about it."

"OK!" he yells out with a smile.

"Good boy." Zatanna says as she leans in close looking at him, he looks back at her.

"Hey guys." Megan says interrupting them.

"Hi." Conner says to her smiling.

"Hey." Zatanna says to her, blushing a little.

"Wanna play would you rather?" he asks her.

"No, I have cheerleading practice, don't you have swim practice."

"Yeah." He says to her then turns to Zatanna. "Gotta go, want me to take you home?"

"Nah, I'll take your bike." Zatanna says to him.

He stands up and gives her the keys. "You break it, you fix it."

"Got it." she says getting them. "Bye Megan."

…Mount Justice

Conner and Zatanna where in the living room, not living room, it was completely gone now there was smoke. Zatanna enters and poses in the doorway to show off the black and white leopard print mini dress contrasted with black PVC shoulder length gloves and high heeled thigh boots. Conner was wearing leather pants and black and white leopard print shirt his hair spiked up. There were circus lion tamers stand in the middle of the room. The lights had changed to pink and blue flashing brightly.

They were dancing around standing on the tamers to techno music, with other Conner's dressed as clowns and other Zatanna's dressed in colorful and sparkly all in one bodysuit with a little skirt that matches her colorful and sparkly stage makeup. While clown Conner juggled fire and the other one juggled knifes up in the air.

"This is so much fun!" Zatanna yells out as she dances then she accidently slips from the stand and Conner super speeds catching her. "My prince." She says smiling up at him.

"My princess."

They giggle.

A whistle catches their attention Conner puts Zatanna down then turn to see Artemis, Wally, Dick, Roy, and Megan looking at them, the music still going on loudly the light shining.

"Could you turn it down!" Roy yells out. Conner puts his hands on Zatanna shoulders and she claps twice, the lights turn off extremely dark. "That's not what I meant." He says to her, she claps twice again.

Everything was normal, including their clothes.

"Do we have a mission?" Zatanna asks exited.

"No." Dick says to her.

"Then why did you stop us?" Conner asks them.

"Yeah we were having fun, do you want to join?" Zatanna asks about to clap.

"No!" They yell out, Zatanna looks at him a little confused.

"Let's just watch a movie?" Wally asks them.

"Sure." Zatanna says smiling. "No." she says on backwards and the TV turns on a movie already playing. "Ydnac dna nrocpop." She says Candy and Popcorn as she waves her hand on the coffee table they sit down on the couch.

Roy, Dick, Megan, Wally and Artemis look at each other.

"Hey come on, plenty for everyone." Conner says as he grabs a popcorn bowl and he and Zatanna start to eat.

"You know we could have just made it." Megan says to them as she walks over and sits on the couch.

"And we could have just rented the movie." Wally adds as he goes to sit with her.

"Why bother?" Zatanna asks them. "These are perfect." She says as she grabs a candy from a bowl.

"And if we don't eat everything in a couple of hours, poof!" Conner says as he eats popcorn. "No need to clean up."

"No, they're great, it's just-" Artemis starts not knowing what to say as she goes over to sit with Wally.

"Why use magic when you can do something naturally?" Roy asks her.

"Sknird." She says Drinks and cokes, sprites and Dr. Pepper show up she takes a coke. "Well, you can fight bad guys naturally, with guns and punches. Don't recommend it though." She says as she drinks from her coke.

"That's different." Roy says to her.

"How?"

"Becau-" Dick starts and sighs. "Because you're protecting people, keeping them from being hurt."

"Which makes them happy." Conner says to him. "Like all of this makes us happy."

"You mean you." Artemis says to him, Conner looks at her.

"That's not the point, Zee-" Dick starts.

"Why are you being like this?" Zatanna asks them.

"This isn't about me!" Dick yells out a little.

"This is so about you." Zatanna yells out getting up. "You're always coming down on me for, for doing magic that couldn't harm a fly. What's your problem?" the movie starts and it gets loud. "Ffo." She says to it and it turns off.

"Zatanna, I just wish that you would stop and think about what you're doing. This is dangerous." Dick says to her.

"What are you guys taking sides now?" Conner asks him standing up as well with Zatanna.

"This isn't about sides." Megan says to them trying to keep everyone calm. "Nobody is taking sides."

"You guys have been talking about me behind my back." Zatanna says to them getting upset.

"No we're just worried." Wally says to her.

"You have no idea how hard I've been practicing trying to make sure that I'm up to everyone's standards."

Dick stands up. "Zatanna, you are using too much magic. What do you want me to do, just, just sit back and keep my mouth shut?"

"Well, that'd be a good start." Zatanna says to him. "But since you guys are so against me using magic. No more. FINE!" She yells at them then turns around. "Odnu." She says to the table everything disappears. "You can make your own food and you can fight your own battles." She turns to Conner. "Take me to Zach."

Conner grabs Zatanna's hand and they teleport out.

"Maybe we should have done this with Batman." Artemis says to them.

"Or a grown up." Wally adds.

"Right I can't believe this went so wrong." Dick says.

They all sit down on the couch and they stayed quiet.

"Who's Zach?" Wally asks.

"Where are we?" Zatanna asks looking around, it was a hotel room.

"I'm not sure." Conner says as he looks around a little messy.

"You're not sure?" Zatanna asks him a little confused.

"I just thought Zach."

"I'm not sure I understand how you power works."

"Hold on I'll get the whip cream." Zach says as he walks out of the room naked. "Zatanna?"

"AH!" Zatanna yells out and covers her eyes with her hands.

"Oh yeah I'm naked." Zach says to himself. "Sehtolc." He says Clothes and his clothes appear he puts them on.

"Is it over?" Zatanna asks her eyes still closed.

"Yeah, it's over. What are you guys doing here?" Zach asks them.

"We got in a fight with our friends. Zatanna wanted to come here." Conner says as he looks around. "You are very messy." He says disgusted.

"Right and we just wanna hang out." Zatanna says to him no longer covering her eyes.

"I was kinda busy."

"With whip cream?"

"Don't judge what you do not understand."

"Come on, let's get outta here." Zatanna says to him. "Conner can take us anywhere in the world."

"Oh, well, what do you wanna do?" Zach says to her uncertain.

"I don't know. Something fun. Anything not involving a movie." Zatanna says to him.

"Or maybe he'd rather have sex with his girlfriend all night, it's not like you're a relative or anything." Conner says trying to make him feel guilty.

"Ok, ok, geez, no guilt trip please." Zach says to them. "We can party in New York, the Oblivion bar."

"I can party!" Zatanna yells out.

"Let's Party!" Conner yells out.

New York…Oblivion Bar

"So where is this place anyways?" Zatanna asks as they walk around surprising empty streets.

"I can't believe you've never heard of the Oblivion bar, if you're looking for magic in New York City there is only this place to go." Zach says to her. "And here we are." He says as he points to a door with a green light bulb.

"Ok no offence cuz but I'm not going in there." Zatanna says to him weired out.

"Not dressed like that you're not. Change your clothes." Zach says to her. Conner and Zatanna look at each other, they were wearing normal clothes, jeans, shirt. They look back at Zach. "Fine, I'll do it." he says to them. "Egnahc sehtolc ot cihtog." He says Change clothes to gothic, a green smoke surrounds Conner and Zatanna then it disappears. "Better."

Conner was wearing black muscle shirt with a cross on it metal choker, black jeans with chains and boots. Zatanna was wearing a strapless black dress with a corset black fishnet gloves.

"Hello, we can dress ourselves thank you very much." She says to him.

"Trust me, you'll blend in better this way." Zach says to them. "Conner about that just um…you know, try to blend in."

"I don't understand. Isn't that why you put me in this getup?"

"Just follow my lead." Zach says to him.

"Ok." Conner shrugs.

Zach pushes the door open a Bouncer is waiting with long black hair, jeans tight black shirt showing off his muscles he takes out a card from his back pocket and shows it to Zach.

"Two flying dolphins." Zach says and he walks in through the wall.

Zatanna and Conner walk up the bouncer he stops them. "What do ya want kid?"

"We're with him." Zatanna says to him as she points to the wall that Zach had just passed through.

"Good for you but this is an exclusive club can't get in unless-"

"Unless?" Conner asks him.

"Unless you can read the name on this card." He says as he pulls out a piece blank piece of paper.

Conner couldn't see anything even using his multiple visions, Zatanna looks at it and whispers. "laever." Reveal a word appears to be made of fire appears on the paper. "Abraxas." She says smiling.

"Welcome to Oblivion Miss. Zatara." The bouncer says to her with a smile.

She looks at the bouncer and walks past him through the wall, he pulls out a card from his pocket and shows it to Conner. Conner looks at it and uses his x-ray vision hoping that it would work. "Two frogs on a bench." Conner says to him hesitantly.

The bouncer looks at him and puts his hand on Conner's bare shoulder. "You taste like sugar."

"I get that a lot." Conner says to him, the bouncer lets him go and Conner walks pass him through the wall and bumps into Zatanna.

"YAY!" Zatanna yells out happy. "You're in."

"Tell me the truth, do I taste like sugar?" Conner asks her as they walk in the bar.

"I don't think you do."

Music floods the exclusive Oblivion bar, it's a clash of cultures and influences not easily dated. A retro speakeasy, red lights instead of white, Zatanna and Conner walk in looking around the place it was like a freak show people with horns on their foreheads, monkeys who could talk with a pipe in his mouth, a blue Devil at the bar taking orders, a red man with three eyes, a hooded man with a green skull as he turned to look at them.

They both pause seeing suited business men showing off several ladies. One fills a line of shot glasses from a pitcher of water he waves his hand over them, turns the water into red wine. The ladies are very impressed and drink up.

Zach was sitting down in a table and motions for a waiter to come over Zatanna and Conner walk over to him and sit on the chairs.

"This is a freak show." Zatanna says.

"It's Magic Zee, I'm surprised uncle didn't show it to you. He used to be a regular here." Zach says to her. "Thank you." He says to the waitress as she gives him a glass.

"Dad didn't like me showing off." Zatanna says to him. "He was overprotective."

"You're talking as if he's dead." Zach says to her. "Do you miss him?"

"More than I ever imagine."

"What about you Conner?" Zach asks him. "Does your dad know what you do on weekends?"

"Which one?" Conner mumbles, Zach looks at him a little confused.

"Hey Zach." A woman with long blonde hair, purple eyes, dark purple shirt, skirt, Amethyst gem on her necklace asks as she sits down on his lap. "What brings you here?"

"Just showing my cousin around, Zatanna, Amethyst Princess of the Gemworld." Zach says to her introducing them.

"You're a Lord of Order." Zatanna says recognizing her name she hadn't expected her to be so young or beautiful.

"What about sugar boy over here?" she asks moving over to other chair sitting next to Conner, she puts her arm around him ignoring Zatanna. "Hi, Amethyst. What's your name Sugar?"

"Kon-El." He says to her, secret identities and all that.

"You're not from around here." She says twirling his hair around.

"Born and bred in the U.S of A." he says smiling.

Amethyst chuckles looks at him, looks inside his eyes, deep inside his eyes, he looks back at her a little weired out. "Your soul is so young and yet you've seen so much. You've done so many bad things." She says as she gets closer to him, Conner looks at her glaring at her a little. "Poor Sugar."

"Get away from me."

"Well that's not very nice."

"Come on Amethyst leave the kid alone." Zach says to her lazily. "Don't you have to go home?"

"Nah, pocket dimensions and all that, I'll be back by yesterday." She says to him. "You are quite the power trip." Amethyst says to Conner not taking her eyes off of him.

"I want to talk about my father." Zatanna says getting her attention.

"Right, Nabu, he is so possessive." Amethyst says smiling as she touches her purple gem on her neck. "Haven't seen him in a while bet anything he's up in his tower, like always, watching never having fun." She says to Zatanna. "Do you want to have fun?" she asks Kon.

"Yeah ok, I think I should get going." Kon says getting up.

"Don't Sugar." Amethyst says pulling his hand down and he sits back down. "We can have fun together."

"I don't wanna have fun."

"We can make magic together."

"Sorry, I already have a girlfriend like that." Kon says moving over putting an arm around Zatanna. "She doesn't like it when I'm with other people."

"I think it would be a great idea." Zatanna blurts out.

"Exactly." Kon says. "Wait what?" he asks confused.

"Go have fun."

"I don't wanna."

"But if we do have fun, you have to tell me a way to get the helmet off my father." Zatanna says to her.

Amethyst looks at her. "Deal." She says to her.

"Hold on a minute." Kon says not liking where this was going.

"Let's go fight crime."

"I don't-fight crime? I like that."

"I knew you would." Amethyst says to him and grabs his hand. "In Gemworld they are a lot of bad guys. You'll love it."

"Ok, sure." Kon says as she takes him by the hand walking away.

"Be safe." Zatanna says to him.

"Let's go." Zach says as he grabs her hand following Amethyst.

Conner teleports in with Zatanna in her room, lies down on the bed fully dressed closing his eyes.

"Are you going to change?"

"tired." Conner mumbles.

She walks over to Conner puts her hand over him. "Egnahc sehtolc." He was wearing his boxers only and she was wearing her smiley face pajamas.

"Zatanna-" He mumbles again all of sudden he was cold…weird.

"It's ok, go to sleep." She says to him and pulls the blanket over him then gets in bed with him she hears the door scratching. "Rood nepo." She says Door open Wolf walks in and hops up on the bed and going to sleep. Zatanna goes over and pats him. "Good boy." She says to him. "Rood esolc." She says Door close and the door closes and she goes to sleep. Thank god tomorrow was Saturday.

"Conner! Wake up! You're going to be late for school!" Megan yells at him as she moves him.

"it's Saturday…right?"

"Mike called, he said you have practice at 8, it's 8." Megan says to him.

"aw crap." He mumbles getting up.

"Why are you sleeping with Zatanna?"

"we feel asleep."

"Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I'm just tired."

"I thought you didn't sleep."

"I usually don't." he says getting up and going over to the closet gabbing a random shirt then looks at it had flowers. "This isn't mine." he says.

"Your room is this way." Megan says to him grabbing him and pulling him to his room.

"Thanks." He says to her and goes over to his closet and grabs a shirt putting it on, and his jeans going over to the bed and lazily putting on his shoes.

"You and Zatanna had fun yesterday?" Megan asks him.

"Yeah." He says smiling a little. "You should have been there. Zach can only to magic to things but he's still pretty powerful. There was this guy bothering Zatanna and she send him to another dimension, when he came back he was all freaking out, we fought these things made out of skeletons. Zach couldn't even keep up with her last night."

"Who's Zach?"

"Zatanna's cousin." he says and he stands up. "Ok, I'll see you later."

"Bye, I'll see you there later I have cheerleading practice at 9." Megan says also stand up.

"Ok, see you then." Conner says and teleports out.

Happy Harbor high school…

He ended up in the gym's with the pool and lands on his ass a tired, panting. "What the hell is wrong with me?" he mumbles.

"Hey Conner." Riki says as he sees him and helps him up. "You ok?"

"Tired…I think." Conner says confused.

"Well Coach is pissed, we called you like a dozen times."

"Right, Megan told me."

"Kent where the hell where you, you've missed practice." Coach Kipling says to him a little angry.

"Sorry I overslept." Conner shrugs, Coach looks at him. "Sir." He adds.

"Thought you didn't sleep." Coach Kipling says to him.

"I usually don't. My body probably needed to catch up."

"Yes, well, catch up on your own time. Go get ready."

Conner lazy salutes as he walks over to the locker room he walks over to his locker and turns on the lock. His vision gets a little blurry and he sits down on the bench and closes his eyes.

"Conner?" Mike says as he touches his shoulder.

"Yeah?" he says opening his eyes.

"Did you fall asleep?" Mike asks him sitting down next to him.

"Did I? I don't know." Conner says tired.

"You don't look good either."

"Yup, let's go swim." Conner says getting up and then sitting back down. "Head rush. Let's try that again." He gets up. "Cool." He says and walks off.

"Conner?"

"Yeah?"

"Swim suit." Mike says as he gets them from his locker.

"Right." Conner says as he strips down, Mike looks at him Conner grabs his red and black jammer and puts them on. "Let's go!"

"I've never seen you this tired before." Sam says to him. "You look pathetic."

"I…I'll come up with a comeback later." Conner says tired. "Any chance you guys can help me get dressed?" They look at him. "yeah I didn't think so." He mumbles.

Everyone gets there clothes on jean and t-shirt and went home it was Saturday after all. Conner was having trouble getting his shirt on, he was sore. He could barely get his arms up above his head.

"Need help?"

"Thought you went home." Conner mumbles as he gets his arm through a sleeve.

"Yeah but I didn't see you come out." Mike says back. "So…need help?" he asks again.

"Nah, I'm good." He says as he tries to get the other arm through the sleeve and he groans in pain and pauses. "help." He whispers to him.

Mike goes over to him and puts his arm through the sleeve while Conner groans in pain. "Boxers?" he asks seeing that he still had his jammers on.

"No, just get my jeans."

Mike gets his jeans from the locker and helps Conner put them on, Conner stood up and puts his hand on Mike's shoulder as he pulled up his jeans. "Thanks." He says to him Conner pulled up the rest of the way and Mike looks at him.

"Are you ok?" Mike asks him worried about him.

"I'm fine, just tired."

"I can tell, I beat you a dozen times in the pool. I can't remember the last time that happen."

Conner yawns. "Bye Mike." He says to him and walks around him.

"Bye Conner." He says to him. "Hey." Conner turns back around. "Wanna come over?" Conner was about to say he was too tied. "Later I mean, we can hang out, a bunch of us are going to go get pizza and just hang out."

"Sure, that'd be fun."

Zatanna was in her room looking at herself in the full length mirror. "Tnereffid roloc." Zatanna says Different color as her blue dress turns green. "Now?" she asks Conner who was in her bed laying down.

"Nope." Conner says as he looks at her and turns back to reading a magazine.

"Tnereffid roloc." She says and the green dress turns purple. "Now?"

"Yes."

"Why didn't you tell me to just put on the purple one?" she asks a little annoyed.

"We wouldn't be having a fun time if I did."

Zatanna rolls her eyes. "Ok then, I'm done." She says as she looks herself in the mirror, her black boots, her hair down slightly curled up, purple eye make-up. "Do you think Dick will like it?" she asks him.

Conner stands up and goes over to her standing behind her. "He'll love it." He says looking at her through the mirror. "And if he doesn't you can always turn him into a frog."

She giggles. "Ok, wish me luck."

"Good luck."

Zatanna comes in the cave looking very angry, she leans over the caves wall and takes off her boots, they were killing her.

"Hey I wasn't done talking." Dick says coming in, he was wearing a jacket, slacks and a red shirt.

"Where you talking?" Zatanna asks. "Cause it seemed like you were yelling." She says to him putting her boots down.

"I was just trying to be nice." Dick says to her.

"Oh you were very nice. Tell me if I were to say don't worry it's just our anniversary to somebody what would you do?"

"I didn't know it was a big deal."

"Oh my god!" she yells at him extremely angry.

"Don't yell at me, this is the first time I've see you in a week."

"And whose fault is that?"

"Yours!"

"Mine?"

"You're always busy."

"Hey I've asked you out to come with me, not my fault you always say no."

"I always say no, because it always involves magic."

"Dick. Why can't you understand?"

"Why can't you understand!? You are using way too much magic! I don't even know who you are anymore."

"Dick what do you want from me? Do you want me to quit using magic is that it, will it actually make you happy?"

"No, I want you to realize that you are using too much of it."

"There is no such thing, it's a part of my. It's who I am."

"I'm trying to be better, I'm trying to be great, I'm trying to be a person who the League can someday say, she's not just the daughter of the Master of Magic Zatara. Isn't that what you want also? To be recognized as more than Batman's sidekick?"

"I get that, I get that big time but I'm tired of having a relationship with your phone. Ok I don't know what to do anymore." Dick says to her.

"Well neither do I." Zatanna says back.

They look at each other.

"Is this about Conner?"

"Oh my God." Zatanna groans running her hands in her wanting pull her hair out.

"Okay, it's not, it's not." He says quickly regretting it.

"Oh my God." She whines. "I cannot keep having this same fight over and over again, Dick, no, you're, making this too hard."

"Oh I'm making this too hard. Okay, what do you want me to do?" Dick asks her tired of fight.

"I don't know, I don't know." She says to him and sighs. "Look, maybe we should take a break."

"Okay, okay, fine, you're right. Let's take a break. Let's cool off, okay, let's get some frozen yogurt, or something-"

"No." she says to him, Dick looks at her. "A break from us."

Dick looks at her then walks in the zeta tubes. Zatanna sighs, Conner hesitantly comes in.

"Is it safe?" Conner asks her.

She looks over at him and smiles at him. "Yeah." She sighs again. "I can't believe I almost sleep with him."

"Well better now than after, trust me it hurts way worse."

"I want to go to Oblivion Bar, can you take me?"

"Sure."

…Oblivion Bar

"Bird on a leader." Zatanna says to the Bouncer walks past him into the wall disappearing.

"Bear in a dress." Kon says to the Bouncer and walks past the wall.

Zatanna looks at him. "Sehtolc egnahc." She says Clothes change.

They were wearing goth clothes. Kon had black jeans, black shirt with red skulls, boots, metal necklaces, his black hair with red highlights. Zatanna had black ruffle short emo gothic skirt, a dark purple corset, her hair with purple highlights. They walked over to a table and sit down some people look at them, they had become regulars. Some haven't seen them yet.

"So what do you want to do?" Kon asks her.

"How about a drink?"

"I don't drink especially made out of magic."

"Well how about we-"

"Hey there kids." A man around 30 with a scar in his eye, a suit and nice hair, he sits down without being asked. "I'm Shade. You're new here."

"You weren't invited." Kon says to him.

"You kids want to have some fun?" he says to them and stands up. "Follow me." he says to them and walks off to a wall.

"Come on!" Zatanna says to him.

"Are you kidding me?" Kon asks her.

"It'll be fun." She says to him she says standing up following Shade into a wall disappearing.

"Fine, but if he offers us candy I'm not taking it." he says to her follows her. "Don't you people know anything about doors?" he asks as he goes through the wall.

They go in the room it had couches with people laying down, others were talking to each other. Some were passed out on the floor.

Zatanna took a step back. "What is this place?"

"I can make life fun." Shade says to Zatanna, he walks around behind her. "Do you want to have fun?" he asks her as he walks around in front of her, stares at her. Kinda creepy.

"What kinda of fun?"

"Want me to show you?"

"Zee let's get out of here." Kon says to her as he grabs her hand pulling her.

"Relax kids, I'm not gonna hurt you. You gotta give a little to get a little, right?" Shade says to them.

"Ok." Zatanna says to him.

"Zatanna, this is the candy part." Kon says to her.

"It's fine, I'm just gonna take a little tour." Shade says to Kon.

Shade puts his hand over Zatanna's chest, not actually touching her. Suddenly a bolt of magic goes from his hand into her body. Zatanna gasps and closes her eyes, Shade closes his eyes too. Magic sparks and purple light continue swirling around his hand and Zatanna's body. Both panting. Kon watches intently, worried.

After a moment the magic breaks off and Shade takes his hand back, opens his eyes, looks at Zatanna, grins a little.

"Nothing like a Zatara." He says smiling.

"You ok?" Kon asks her worried.

"Great." She says smiling.

"Your turn." Shade says to Kon looks him up and down.

"ok." Kon says uncertain.

Again Shade puts his hand over Kon's chest. Suddenly a bolt of red magic goes from his hand into Kon's body. Kon gasps and closes his eyes, Shade closes his eyes too. Magic sparks and black light swirling around his hand and Kon's body. This time Shade pulls him close putting both his hands on him. Then lets him go.

"That was…that was…you taste like sugar."

"Do it again." Kon says smiling his eyes a little hazy.

"With pleasure." Shade says to him this time he puts both his hands on neck touching him the black light shinnying bright.

Zatanna spin around fast and fast and faster until she's a blur then floating in the air.

Shade looks upward smiling in ecstasy at Kon he lies in the ceiling with his shirt off his hair messed around spread out across the ceiling. He writhes slowly, a small smile on his face. Kon opens his eyes, looks down the room turns slowly into bright green grass begins to sprout, covering the entire floor and all the furniture with flowers everywhere. They grow and grow as if time passes on.

It freaked him out a little, he closes his eyes then slowly opens his eyes sees a red-skinned thing right in front of him it's teeth sharp as his snake tongue Kon screams and falls from the ceiling. He lands on his stomach on the floor then looks around his eyes red as his iris where blue in panic. All the grass and greenery gone-it was a hallucination. He lays back down his head on the floor. He closes eyes.

…Mount Justice

"oh god." Kon mumbles he was on the floor he slowly opens his eyes, which are now normal. He frowns, gets up kneeling then stands up dizzy he leans on the bed and lays down.

"Hey Conner time for school." Megan says walking in after a while.

"go away." He mumbles.

"Conner."

"please go away."

"ok sorry." She says to him and walks out of the room closing the door behind her.

"Hey Meg, ready for school?" Zatanna says smiling.

Megan looks at her, she looked fine. "Yeah."

"Conner?"

"He's tired."

"Too bad, let's go." Zatanna says smiling happy and walks off Megan looks at her then back at Conner's door worried.

Conner and Zatanna walk along the beach, pasting people she grabs his hand.

"So what do you wanna do? It's gonna be hard to top the other night." Zatanna says smiling.

Conner pulls his hand away from her. "Yeah, I don't know if I can. I felt awful today, and I couldn't do anything, took me all day to get my powers back. I had to go to the sun to re-power. I think we should just take it easy." He says to her.

"Ok." Zatanna says to him and grabs his hand again. "But it was fun."

"Yes it was." He says smiling. "By the way how did we get home?"

"I have no idea." She says chuckling. "I woke up, I showered and went to school."

"Really? I was so tired I could barely get off the floor."

"Yeah? That's kinda weird. I was kinda hyper all day."

"I felt like sleeping all day."

"But it was fun right?" she asks him.

"Yeah it was like I was-"

"Free."

"And happy."

"Yeah."

"Yeah."

They stay quiet and walk randomly as they pass people.

"Wanna go back?" Zatanna asks him.

"Yeah." Conner says quickly wanting to feel that good again.

"Hey guys!" Roy yells out as he walks towards them followed by Artemis.

"Hey Roy." Conner says to him.

"Hi Roy." Zatanna says to them. "Hey Artemis."

"Hi." Artemis says to them, then realizes they're holding hands. "We're playing volleyball."

"You guys wanna play?" Roy asks.

"No we're gonna go somewhere." Zatanna says to them.

"You guys wanna come?" Conner asks.

"No." Zatanna blurts out, they turn to her she smiles nervously then pulls Conner aside. "I don't think they'll let them in." she says to him.

Artemis and Roy look at each other, they weren't that good at whispering.

"We can sneak them in."

"No we can't you know that."

"They can wait outside, and then we can go to the movies."

"Fine." She says annoyed and they turn around to face Roy and Artemis.

"Ok you guys can come but you have to wait outside then we can go to the movies." Conner says to them.

"Ok." Roy says to them.

Artemis looks at him a little stunned. "Ok?" she asks.

"Yeah, let's go." Roy says to them. "We need to change, first."

"I got that." Zatanna says to them and right there in front of everyone she says. "Egnahc sehtolc." She says Change clothes.

Roy was wearing his jeans, shoes, his black with yellow yolo t-shirt. "That felt kinda weird." he says.

Artemis was wearing jeans, boots, green shirt and brown jacket. "Yeah, kinda tingly feeling." She says to him.

"That's normal." Zatanna says she was wearing tight black crop shirt, skirt and converses shoes.

"Let's go." Conner says, he was wearing black cargo jeans, black shirt with Live Your Life red words his hair had red highlights he grabs them and teleports out.

…Gotham

"Wait what about Kaldur and Megan." Artemis says when they were in Gotham.

Roy looks around. "Why are we in Gotham?" he asks a little nervous.

They were in front of a door with a green light bulb and Zatanna opens it seeing the bouncer, the same one with long black hair, jeans tight black shirt showing off his muscles he takes out a card from his back pocket holding it up.

"Wohs em." Zatanna says show me. "Penguin in a suit." She says to him.

Conner looks over to Artemis and Roy. "Hold tight." He says to them.

"Seriously?" Artemis asks him. "You're just going to leave us out here?"

"Well you can come in, if you can get in." Conner says to them and looks over the Bouncer as he gets out another card. "Crocodile in a dress." The Bouncer pulls out another card and shows it to Artemis, she looks over at Conner, not knowing what to do. "It's ok, just wait here." He says to them.

"We'll be right back." Zatanna says to them and the Bouncer lets them in they walk past the wall disappearing.

"That was weird." Roy says.

"What do we do?" Artemis asks.

Roy looks around the road and sees a coffee shop. "Coffee?" he asks her.

"Sure."

"So where are they?" Dick asks Megan as she cooks cookies from scratch.

"I have no idea." Megan says him as she crakes an egg in her bowl and mixes. "They just left."

"It bothers you doesn't it?" he asks her as she watches her stir kinda hard.

"No why would it?" Megan says to him. "Does it bother you?" she asks turning to him.

"No, why would it?" he says to her not caring.

"Because she's your girlfriend and they were holding hands, that's kinda a big deal." Wally says to him a little confused, last time Dick had gotten jealous because they were playing in the water, this time nothing.

"We broke up." Dick says to him.

Megan and Wally both turns to him shocked. "What! Really?" they yell out, Megan puts the bowl down.

"Yes." He says.

"What happen?" Megan asks him.

"We broke up." He says again.

"So what are you gonna do?" Wally asks him worried. "And most importantly why didn't you tell me."

"What can I do? One person wants to break-up, you break-up."

"Hey, no way! Come on, this is you guys, call her and work it out." Wally says to him.

"Oh come on." Dick says as he rolls his eyes. "We just had this huge fight, about her using magic and we broke up." He says to them, then turns to Wally. "I didn't tell you because I thought we might…I don't know why I didn't tell you."

"Well I have to go find my girlfriend, so can you help me?" Wally asks him.

"Yeah, we can track them down with their GPS." Dick says to him as he pulls out his own black phone.

"With their phones?" Megan asks opening a drawer and putting a green phone and a red one out on the counter they had left them at the beach.

"Com links?" Dick asks, Megan shakes her head. "Ok, this might be a little hard."

"Zatanna and Conner have their phones." Megan says to him.

"Ok then." He says as he looks in his phone and tries to locate them. "That's weird."

"What is?" Wally asks.

"I can't find them."

"What does that mean?" Megan asks them.

"It's like, they don't exist."

"Ok." Wally says to him, then thinks. "I don't know what that means."

"Me neither." Dick says. "I have to call Batman."

…Gotham

Roy and Artemis still stand there fidgeting. They look up at the sky, it was completely dark. "That it." Roy says and opens the door the Bouncer was still standing there. "Look we need to get our friends could you call them."

"No."

"Why not? You're just standing there anyways."

"No."

"Then let us in." Artemis says to him.

"No, you can't go in without reading the card, you can't read the card, you can't go in." Bouncer says to him.

"This is bullshirt." Roy says angry.

Both Conner and Zatanna walk out of the wall smiling, giggling at each other.

"Hey Roy! Hi Arty!" Zatanna yells out happy.

"Do you know how long we've been out here?!" Artemis yells out angry.

"Everything's closed, we don't have our phones and it's too late for a movie." Roy says to them angry.

Artemis looks at them and sees their eyes Zatanna's where shinning bright purple, Conner's where red, they blink and it goes away. "What's wrong with you?" She asks them.

"Nothing." Conner says to her.

"Let's go!" Zatanna yells out as she bounces up and down then they walk off. "So what do you guys wanna do?" she asks them as she grabs Conner's hand, leading him.

"I wanna go home, it's a couple of blocks from here." Artemis says. "Think you can teleport me out?" she asks Conner.

"Oh come, don't be a downer." He says to her, knowing he couldn't use his power, he was too weak he felt like passing out and going to sleep for a week.

"It's late we should go home." Roy says to them.

Zatanna giggles. "We said we were going to have fun and we are going to have fun." She says to them. "So? Club, this is Gotham gotta be a wild party somewhere." She says to them.

"Let's just find a zeta tube and get the hell out of here." Artemis says to them.

"We could sneak into a hotel and swim in the pool." Conner suggests.

"Yeah! Yeah! Let's do that!" Zatanna yells out exited.

"What the hell is wrong with them." Artemis whispers to Roy.

"Is it just me or are they-" Roy starts.

"High? Yeah."

Superman and Batman arrive, Superman flying in and Batman jumps down a building in front of them. Conner leans on the wall, Zatanna still holding his hand, his other hand on his head.

"What a fantastic entrance!" Zatanna yells out smiling. "Do it again!"

"Oh thank god." Artemis says walking up to them. "You saved us."

"Can you take us home?" Roy asks them walking over to them.

"What? No we were going to go a hotel and swim in a pool." Zatanna pouts.

"We were worried about you." Superman says to them, then looks over at Conner.

"We were worried too." Artemis says.

"Let's go home." Batman says to them.

"I'm not going home." Zatanna says to them. "I wanna have fun."

"Zatanna, what are you doing?" Conner asks her.

"What do you mean?" she asks her.

Conner pulls his hand away. "Stop it."

"What did I do?" Zatanna asks him upset.

He looks up at her his eyes red again. "Get away from me!" he yells at her.

"What?" she asks him a confused and a little hurt by him yelling at her.

A sort of tear cuts appears behind them wind gets around everywhere blowing them they cover themselves. Conner looks over opening his eyes and he sees a red face.

"it's not real." Conner whispers his eyes still red. They all look shocked and took a step back. "It's not real." He says louder.

"It seems very real to me." Roy says to them.

"You called?" the thing asks them.

"No." Zatanna says to it.

"Did. You raised me from hell with your magic and your little boy." It says looking over at Conner.

Conner stands up in front of him. "Get away from us." He says to them.

It reaches out with a clawed hand and slashes at Conner, he cuts his chest bleeding. Conner glares at him and punches him hard and it flies off. "Bad idea." He says grinding his teeth not caring that he was bleeding.

"Kon don't." Superman says putting his hand on his shoulder.

"Back off." Conner says to him using his telekinesis pushing him off everybody else ducks down as Superman flies off. Conner teleports out and still in midair he punches the thing down in the road. "Was that the best you could do?"

The thing tackles Conner. They both roll around and Conner lands on bottom then he kicks him off him, he flips up get back up. It punches him and Conner punches him back they kick each other it claws at Conner scratching his cheek, Conner throws a punch and it jumps behind then scratches his back he doesn't scream or yell. He turns grabbing his leg and tossing him into a building making a hole, the concrete falling down on it. Conner walks over to it.

"Conner!" Superman yells out.

Conner turns giving his back to the thing. "What?" he asks annoyed.

"What's wrong with your eyes?" Superman asks him looking at him.

The thing sweeps his feet under him, Conner falls and it slashes Conner's throat.

"Conner!" they all yell out and running over.

Conner looked shocked as he quickly puts his hand on his throat stopping some of the bleeding.

Zatanna puts up her hand it turns red. "Nrub." She says Burn.

The thing begins to scream, yells in pain as it starts to steam comes off, burning him from the inside. He dissolves into a shower of sparks and smoke. Superman flies over to Conner, looking at him, he leans down. Blood was coming out of his mouth.

"I have to-" Superman starts.

"Go." Batman says to him.

Superman flies off at super speed with Conner in his arms.

"Zatanna-" Batman starts looking angry.

"I don't feel good." She says to them and falls down.

"Zatanna!" Artemis yells out as she runs up to her.

…Mount Justice

Roy, Megan, Wally and Kaldur eat in the kitchen mash potato and chicken.

"How's Conner?" Roy asks.

"Superman said he's still in the sunlight therapy. He's up in the Fortress with him considering what happen last time." Megan says to them.

"That's good." Kaldur says to her.

"What about Zatanna?" Wally asks.

"She's in S.T.A.R.S Lab." Roy answers.

"What did the doctors say?" Wally asks him.

"They said that she was dehydrated." Roy says to him. "Like she hadn't been eating or drinking anything."

"She had." Megan says. "Right?" she asks. Megan, Roy and Kaldur all lived with her he had to have seen her eat or drink something.

"Right." Roy says to her then turns to Kaldur. "Right?"

"I haven't noticed." Kaldur says honestly.

"Me neither." Megan says.

"Oh man, we didn't notice that she was sick?" Roy says. "How pathetic are we?"

"We're not, she should have come to us. They both should have." Wally says.

"But we didn't even noticed." Megan says to him. "Doesn't that make us bad friends?"

"No." Wally says.

"I think it might be the definition." Kaldur says to her.

…

"I want to know what the hell you were thinking." Clark says to Conner and Zatanna as they sat in a room with a waterfall.

"Clark." Dinah says to him.

"Sorry."

"We were just trying to have fun."

"You almost got killed."

"That was after, before we had everything under control."

"You want to know who says that addicts."

Conner laughs. "Are you insane?" he asks him.

Dinah looks over at Zatanna who hadn't said a word and was sitting still looking at the coffee table. "Zatanna do you have something to say?" she asks him.

Zatanna looks up at her. "Can I go?" she asks.

"Do you have something to say?" Dinah asks her.

"I'm tired." She says. "Can I go?"

"Zatanna this is important." Dinah says to her. "We're worried about you."

"Don't be. I have everything under control."

"Like you did the other night?"

"That was a mistake, a miscalculation."

"You call almost dying a miscalculation?"

"I didn't know I was that strong or that Conner was that powerful." Zatanna says to her. "Miscalculation." She shrugs. "But I'm still tired." She says getting up.

"We're not finished yet Zatanna."

"I know. We can talk later, I really am tired." She says and walks out of the room.

"I'm tired." Conner says standing up.

"Sit down." Clark snaps at him.

"So bossy." Conner mumbles sitting back down.

"What were you thinking? Going in that bar? Batman says it's for-"

"I know what it's for. Magic people only."

"Then how did you get in?"

"I have my ways." He says then turns his head to the clock. "I have to go."

"Conner."

"I have practice."

"Yeah, ok. I'll drop you off." Clark says to him.

"Drop me off?" Conner asks him. "Why?"

"Come on." Clark says standing up, and so does Dinah.

"Fine, I have to get my bag." Conner sighs and walks off with Clark behind him, then turns back around and walks to and hugs Dinah. "Don't worry about me."

"Always." She says to him hugging him back.

Zatanna was in her room laying down on her bed reading the Zatara book she had memorized almost ever spell in it. She was having a hard time being able to do the summoning spells, that thing that crossed dimensions was because she had almost drained Conner of all his energy. But even then it was as if he had even more power left in him, he really was a battery, a solar battery. Conner will probably never run out of energy unlike her.

She was getting better stronger but she didn't know if it was because she was draining Conner or because it was her natural endurance.

"Zatanna?"

She looks up to see Conner standing in front of her bed. "Hey Conner." She asks him.

"Wanna go out?" he asks her.

She smiles. "Yeah." She says.

…Oblivion Bar

Conner was laying down listening to music in his head, Zatanna was dancing around moving jumping smiling happy. Shade was sitting down in a one seat couch smiling.

"It feels…it feels like velvet." Kon says smiling as he watching Zatanna have fun. "Like smooth and chocolatey and heaven. Like you go outside your body and just like, you feel these incredible things on your skin. You know? It's like the air around you is like giving your skin a massage." He says, Zatanna bounces over to him getting down on her knees looking at him, he looks over at her. "It just feels really good." He says to her.

"Does it feel like…happy?"

"Yeah, it makes me feel really happy."

Zatanna lends down and kisses him, he kisses her back. His tongue nibbling at her bottom lip, he slips his tongue in her mouth then gets a jolt of electricity and they quickly pull away looking at each other stunned, Zatanna starts giggling and so does Conner.

…Mount Justice

Clark, Conner and Dinah were in the water fall room again sitting down in the green couches.

"You need to stop." Clark says to Conner.

"You telling me what to do?" Conner asks him raising an eyebrow.

"This is ridiculous, can't you see you are completely drained."

"I'm fine." He says to him.

"You're not fine." Clark says to him. "I need to be able to trust you Conner. I can't do that if you're out there doing whatever it is you're doing. I know you don't like being told what to do, I know your old enough to do what's best for yourself and I respect that." Conner scoffs. "At least I'm trying to. But recently this isn't working for me and it'd not because I want to control your life or that I want to parent you to death it's because...I miss you." Clark says to him and pauses, Conner looks down at his hands. "I need to be a part of your life and I need you to be a part of mine. It's important."

Conner looks at him. "I know." He says to him and shrugs. "I'll try."

"Thanks." Clark says with a smile.

"Good." Dinah says also smiling.

"So you'll stop?" Clark asks him.

"Is that what you want?"

"Yes."

"And that will make you happy?"

"Yes it will."

Conner thinks, he should say no, he should laugh at his face, every bone was telling him to do it except his head. "Yeah, ok. I'll stop." He tells him.

"And can you convince Zatanna to stop too?" Dinah asks him.

"I'll try, she's really into it."

"What is it anyway?" Clark asks him.

"It's hard to describe it, you have to be there."

…

"What do you mean?" Zatanna asks him.

"I'm sorry, I just want to stop." Conner says to her.

"Why? Weren't you having fun?"

"Yes but I think it's affecting me in a way I can't predict and I think it's affecting you too."

"I'm fine." Zatanna says to him.

"I'm not."

"You're not?"

"I think it might be a little bit addictive."

"They got to you didn't they."

"Yes." Conner says honestly. "Zatanna the more I do it, the more I want to do it. It's like a craving taking control of me and I don't like that. I don't like things I can't control." He says to her and looks her. "Zatanna it's dangerous, and I think you know it you just don't want to admit it. I can help you, I will help you." He grabs her hand. "Please let me help you."

"There is nothing wrong with me, I'm just having fun. And if you can't handle it that's your problem." Zatanna says and walks off.

Conner follows her. "Don't be mad." He says to her. "I'm sorry."

"I'm not mad, I just thought you understood."

"I do." He says to her. "We can still hang out and stuff."

"Look if you don't want to-"

"Zatanna." Conner says as he grabs her hand about to kiss her.

"Don't." she says pulling away from him. "If you don't want to hang out, that's fine. I don't want to hang out with you anymore either."

"Zatanna."

"It's fine." Zatanna says and walks off.

…Mike's house

Conner and Mike where playing x-box.

"Dude, I just beat you 10 times are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine I just got in a fight with Zatanna."

"Zatanna?" Mike asks him.

"Yeah, she's my friend." Conner says to him.

"Yeah, I've seen her around school, I didn't know you guys where together."

"We weren't, kinda it's hard to explain."

"The drugs?"

"What?" Conner asks him confused.

"Isn't that why you've been all weird, what is it? Not pot, not heroine I don't see any marks, so coke?"

"No it's not-I don't-I wasn't-"

"It's ok, we all do them, but you're stopping right?"

"Yeah, I'm stopping."

"Are you ok?" Mike asks him worried.

"I'm worried about Zatanna."

"Tell her parents."

"Her mom died a couple of years ago and her dad left."

"So tell the person who takes care of her."

"They kinda already know, they just don't know how bad it really is."

"Then tell them that."

"But if I tell them then she'll never talk to me."

"Conner if she in danger and if you're her friend, you'd help her out." Mike says to him. "Yeah she'll be angry at you but she'll realize that it's for the best.

"I guess. Yeah." He says and stands up. "I gotta go."

"You can stay a little more."

"Can't Zatanna's probably their right now."

"Ok, good luck."

"Kon-El, what brings you around?" Shade asks him as he walks in the room.

Kon looks around and sees Zatanna literally bouncing off the walls. "I came for her." He says pushing him aside. "Zatanna?"

"KON!" Zatanna yells out happy and jumps down and kisses him. "I'm so glad you came."

"I came for you."

"Where are we going?"

"Out of here."

"No." Zatanna says to him pushing him away. "I'm not leaving, I wanna have fun. Don't be a downer."

"Zatanna this isn't fun, can't you see he's manipulating you." Kon says to her trying to make her understand.

"I'm not going anywhere." Zatanna says to him.

"I'm sorry." Kon says to her and is about to just tap her on the head to knock her out.

"Ezeerf." Zatanna says Freeze and he stops frozen. "I'm sorry too." She says to him and puts her hand on his chest red light surrounds them, she absorbs his energy not completely just enough. She takes her hand back and sighs. "That's good." She says smiling she looks over at Shade who looked a bit tense. "Thanks." She says to him. "Tropelet." She says Teleport and is surrounded by red light and disappears.

…Salem, Massachusetts

Zatanna looks around and waves her hand. "Appear." She says and the Tower of Fate appears from thin air she smiles and walks right in.

…Oblivian Bar

"Oh god." Kon mumbles as he wakes up after a while and sees Amethyst above him as he laid down on the couch.

"You ok?" she asks concerned.

"Yeah." He says and she helps him up.

"Zatanna kinda drained you." Amethyst says to him as she runs a hand on his cheek.

"Zatanna? Where is she?" Kon asks her still a bit fuzzy.

"Where do you think?"

Kon looks at her and his eyes widen. "Oh no, I gotta go." He says as he starts to walk off.

"Kon-" Amethyst says to him.

"She'll die if I don't help her." Kon says and teleports out.

"Good Luck." Amethyst says as he disappears.

…Salem, Massachusetts

"Zatanna?" Kon says as he looks around and a blast is thrown down from above him he jumps out of the way.

"Nommus eht gninthgil!" Zatanna yells out Summon the lightning from behind her and strikes down Dr. Fate. "I want my father back! NOW!" she yells out to him.

"No." Dr. Fate says to him.

"You're funeral." She says to him. "Nrub!" she yells out Burn her hand extended out and Green Lantern comes up and uses a green bat to hit her knocking her down to the ground.

"Oops hit ya kinda hard, sorry hun." Green Lantern says to her.

"Zatanna!" Superboy yells out and runs over to her. "Are you ok?" he asks her.

"That hurt." She says, she was bleeding from her nose and whips it off.

"Let's go home." He says pulling her up.

"Yeah." Zatanna says getting up on her feet and so does Superboy. "But first a little pick me up." She says putting her hands on his neck a red light surrounded her entering her body.

"Aw crap." Green Lantern says.

A red blue blur passes him and goes straight for the red bubble then gets bounced back and lands hard on the ground. "That hurt." Superman says as he gets back up.

"You ok?" Green Lantern asks him helping him back up.

"We have to stop her." Dr. Fate says as he looks at him. "She is draining the life out of him."

"How?"

"Distract her." Dr. Fate says to them and he starts to chant.

"Got it!" Green Lantern says and makes a green hammer flying up and smashing the red bubble hitting it over and over, doing nothing. While Superman uses heat vision.

Superboy was getting weaker, his eyes hazy and he closes them. "Oh wow that's good." Zatanna says thinking that he was drained.

Superboy opens his eyes-red. The red light now black. He puts his hands on her arms trying to pull her away from him. "Get off me witch." He says to her angry.

"No." Zatanna says her eyes glowing red as well. "Not yet."

Superboy was pulling her away from him her hands no long on his neck but she was still somehow draining him. "Get OFF!" he yells out and a blue blast appears and they go flying the opposite direction. Superman flies off at superspeed and catches Superboy before hitting the ground and Green Lantern makes a green bubble to catch Zatanna.

Superman looks at Superboy in his arms and puts him down. "Are you ok?" he asks him.

Superboy opens his eyes still red and blinks it goes away. "Swell." He mumbles and passes out.

Zatanna woke up her eyes shining red she touches the green bubble and it dissolves she lands herself gently down on the grass and falls down on her back. "Head rush." She giggles gasping for air. "Oh my god, this, this is, this is incredible, I've never, I never knew you were this powerful. I feel everything, I can do anything." She says smiling. "So much power, such power." She says standing up on her feet. "It's over, you either give me my father back or you're both dead." She says to Dr. Fate who was still chanting, her eyes glowing red. "Last call." She says to him.

Dr. Fate's hand glows yellow and it blasts her forming a cross on her, locking her she grunts is about to say something with a piece of yellow gets stuck on her mouth like tape. He continues to chant and Zatanna glares and the yellow cross turns red and it dissolves.

"Zatanna stop." Superman says to her.

"Go away." Zatanna says waving her hand and he disappears, so does Green Lantern. "Idiots." She says. "Your turn." She says to Dr. Fate.

Dr. Fate hand turns yellow and he throws a yellow light to her to form a cross she waves her hand it dissolves in a red light. Zatanna smiles a little. "Fool me once." She says as she walks over to him, she shakes her finger. "Shame on you."

Fire comes out of once of her hand and the other one lightning headed straight towards him. He flies off still chanting, it follows him as he flies off and it hits him and he falls down, she smiles happy and levitates over standing over him. "Temleh, esaeler ym-" she starts the spell Helmet, release my when Dr. Fate stands up putting his hand on her chest absorbing her magic.

"Enough!" he yells out her eyes slowly start to go back to normal, her face full of shock as he drains her, a black light all around them, then turns red then turns light purple and it fades. She falls down tired.

Zatanna tries to get up and falls back down. "What did you do?" she asks him.

"You'll be fine in a couple of weeks." Dr. Fate says to her. "You are very powerful and extremely dangerous."

"I want my father back!" Zatanna yells out. He turns and walks off. "Give me back my father!" she yells out as she starts to cry on her knees. "I want my father back!" she yells out she lays back down tired. Dr. Fate disappears in a yellow light. "Please." She whispers and passes out.

…S.T.A.R.S Lab

"They're getting better, Zatanna is tired we're giving her fluids and bed rest. Superboy is under the sunlight but I'm afraid that it will burn out at this rate so we turned it off for a while we'll turn it back on at night."

"Is he ok?" Superman asks her.

"He will be. He's a strong boy." Dr. Cale says to him.

"I'm gonna go see him." Superman says and walks off to Superboy's room.

"Ok." Dr. Cale says to him watching him walk away and into the room. "He's very protective."

"Yeah." Green Lantern says as he rubs his head he had a gash on his forehead. "Think you can fix me up Doc?" he asks her.

"Sure, this way." Dr. Cale says to him and he follows her to an examination room.

Superman looked at Kon as he slept on the bed, the light on the ceiling turned off. He looked a bit pale as the cover where down to his waist revealing his body. Kon opened his eyes slowly, Kal walks over for him to see him.

"Hey kiddo." Kal says as he runs his hand on his hair.

"I'm cold." Kon mumbles.

"I got ya." Kal says and pulls up the sheet covering him up completely then takes off his red cape putting it over him and sits down on the bed his fingers through his hair. "Better?"

"yah." Kon says closing his eyes going back to sleep.

"It's ok, I'll be here."

Kal watches him sleep for what seemed a couple of minutes looking at him, he hadn't realized how much they actually looked alike. He had never really stopped to think about it, he should have.

…Mount Justice

"Oh I got one, they are showing Rio 2 at 6." Conner says as he looks in the laptop Megan besides him over his shoulder. "If I teleport us, we can split up get to get the popcorn and the tickets."

"Good." Megan says.

"Hey guys." Zatanna says as she walks in. "What are you guys up too?"

"We're going to the movies." Conner says to her not looking at her but at the computer.

"What are you going to watch?"

"Rio." Megan says to her.

"We have to get there in the next 8 minutes." Conner says to Megan and grabs her hand.

"Do you want to come?" Megan asks her.

Zatanna opens her mouth to say something. "I'm sure she's busy." Conner says.

Zatanna looks at Conner. "Yeah, I have homework."

"Later." Megan says to her.

"Bye. Have fun." Zatanna says to them.

They teleport out and she sighs looking around Wolf walks in. "Hi boy, wanna go outside?" she asks him, he ignores her and lays down on the couch.

"Hey have you see-" Roy asks as her as he walks in his boxers ready for bed. "Laptop, why is out here?" he asks as he grabs it. Zatanna looks at Wolf who was obviously avoiding her. "What's wrong?" he asks her as he sits down on the chair near the counter.

"Wolf's avoiding me and so is Conner." Zatanna complains.

"Well you almost killed him, Conner not Wolf."

"Conner almost killed me." she reminds him.

"Yes, but he was on red kryptonite and genetically unstable."

"So I should apologize?"

"You haven't apologized?"

"Ok look he understands that I wasn't myself."

"Does he?" he asks her. "I mean if he's ignoring you he obviously doesn't."

Zatanna sighs. "I'll apologize."

Roy stands up and kisses Zatanna on her forehead. "Good girl."

"Are you really going to sleep?"

"I've been awake for 2 days."

"Good night."

"Thanks."

…

"It was kinda funny." Conner says to Megan as they walk out of the movie theater.

"Yeah." Megan says giggles. "I've been meaning to ask, can you breath in space?" she asks him.

"Yeah, can you?" he asks her.

"Yeah but not for long."

"It's ok, I'll save you if you get stuck." He says to her as he slips his hand on her's.

"Promise?" she asks him.

"Always." He says to her. "Wanna get something to eat before we head back?"

"Yeah."

…Mount Justice

Megan and Conner enter the cave through the front door laughing. Wolf runs up to Conner.

"Hey boy." Conner says petting him. "Miss me?"

Megan starts to pet him as well they were standing facing each other Conner looks up at Megan with a smile and Megan smiles back. Conner leans forward and gives her a short sweet kiss.

"wow." Megan whispers, blushing.

"Hey guys, how was the movie?" Wally asks as he walks in.

"Good." Conner says to him.

"Recommend it?" he asks him.

"Does Artemis like stupidity?" Conner asks him.

"Yeah."

"Then yeah." He says to him with a smile.

"How come you didn't invite Zatanna?"

"She said she was busy." Conner says to him. "Come on Wolf, time to go to bed." He says to him as he pets hm.

"I thought you didn't sleep." Wally says to him.

"It's new." Conner says to him.

"So is eating." Megan adds with a smile.

"It was good popcorn." Conner says to her.

Dream/flashback

A small plane taxies to a stop and a man leaves the plane carrying a box which was handcuffed to the man's right hand. Another man is waiting by a limo with a briefcase. The man with the box walks over to him.

"Is he in the car?" the man asks him.

"No, I'll take you to him." He says as he opens the limo door.

The man kicks the limo door shut. "Luthor was supposed to be here in person with the money." He pauses. "Well, the price just went up. I don't like surprises."

"Surprise." Kon says as sticks his fist in his stomach, then pulls it out.

"You killed him."

"What are you, the narrator?" Kon asks him as he uses his telekinesis to take the blood off his hand slowly coming off. "Keys to the cuffs?" he asks him as he finishes dropping the blood on the floor.

The man gets down and searches him, his jacket, jeans. "Nothing." The man says as he gets up. Kon pulls out his new flashy knife from his side pocket. "That won't cut through steel."

"No, but it will cut through bone." Kon says to him smirking and getting down chopping off his hand with the briefcase.

/end

Conner wakes up with a scream, beads of sweat running down his face and gasping for air, revealing that it was all a nightmare. He looks at Wolf, who licks his bare shoulder to comfort him before resting his head on his lap.

"It's all right, Wolf." Conner says to him. "I just had a bad dream." He says as he rests his head in his arms on top of Wolf's head, petting him. "just a dream." He whispers to him, felt real though.

Conner stands up Wolf follows and walks over to the kitchen in his boxers and grabbed some leftover chicken and alfredo noodle that Megan had made. He pulled out the tupperware and put them in the counter grabbed a fork and started eating, tossed a piece over to Wolf.

"Hey." Zatanna says as she walks in her boxers with green leaf clovers and green muscle shirt.

"Hey." Conner says as he obviously tenses up.

Zatanna walks over and sits by him. "Can't sleep?" she asks him.

"Yeah." He says as he continues to eat.

"Conner." Zatanna starts. "Look, the other day, what I did, I wasn't myself, I, uh, I didn't, I mean, I uh think that you're a really really great friend and I, I uh shouldn't have taken advantage. OK?" She says to him quickly and a little weird.

"Was that an apology?" Conner asks her.

"It was supposed to be, yeah." She says to him.

Conner looks at her with a small smile. "Not great." He says to her.

"Oh well. It was a rough draft I was gonna polish it up and give it to ya a little later. But you're here." Zatanna says to him with a smile.

"Apology accepted." He says with a chuckle and sticks the fork in a small piece of chicken and wraps it in some noodles brings it up to Zatanna.

She smiles and eats it. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." He says to her. "How's Dick?"

"Fine, I think."

"You guys haven't talked?"

"Not really."

"Are you guys going to get back together?"

"I do, but I'm not sure about Dick."

"Have you told him that?"

"No."

"Have you tried?"

"No."

"Well that's not good."

"You think?"

"Maybe love's like math. You don't get better at it but you just get used to it. Simple equations with the occasional variable." Conner says to her.

"I hope not. I suck at math." Zatanna says to him.

Conner looks at her and gives her a kiss on her cheek, she turns to smile at him.
