A/N: I'm still not giving up on getting a review, I really want to know what people think or if they have any suggestions or ideas or anything at all, good or bad. Well thinks are heating a bit more up in this chapter. All mistakes belong to me.
"So what do you two do for a living?" Martin asked as they were eating. Scully looked to Emily for a second, before she raised her hand to intertwine it with Emily's, which was resting on top of the table.
"I'm a doctor," she said "and Lauren here teaches French at high-schools." She squeezed Emily's hand sweetly.
"Uh la la!" Tom exclaimed, putting his fingertips against his chest. "The language of romance." He said, touching Martin's shoulder.
"Yes, it's a beautiful language." Emily said, smiling widely.
"And how did you two lovebirds meet?" Martin asked. Scully looked to Emily for a second, nervously, squeezing her hand once more as a sign of her to talk.
"It's a bit of a silly story, actually, but you can say that we met through work." Emily began, which was not wrong, since they had met through work themselves. "One of the boys in my class had suddenly fainted and hit his head badly against one of the tables, so I got another teacher to take over, so I could take him to hospital to get him checked out."
"And I was during my rounds and checkups at the time she came in, all flustered and nervous that something had gone terribly wrong." Scully added, feeding to the illusion of an actual story and not just a quick make believe.
"Luckily Chris was there to calm me down, I think I was more worked up than the kid." Both of them laughed at the fake memory of the fake moment.
"I practically had to hold her hand through it all. He did have a mild concussion, but nothing more than that. Anyway, my shift was ending, so I asked her if I could offer a cup of coffee to help calm her nerves" Scully looked affectionately at Emily.
"Since the kid had been picked up by his parents, I thought that I might as well take her up on the offer. I mean, who can say no, when such a beautiful woman asks you out after you've practically had a panic attack in front of her." Emily said, brushing her hand softly against Scully's cheek. Dana felt herself blush for real this time at the compliment, and she could not help but to look down at Emily's lips for a short second, cursing herself for it afterwards. Before it could get to intense, Dana looked away and back to Martin and Tom, the blush still evident on her cheek.
"And the rest is history" she finished, smiling. Both Martin and Tom made small 'aww' sounds, before kissing each other sweetly.
"Isn't that the sweetest story?" Tom asked Martin, who nodded in return. Scully was still blushing slightly when she decided to change the subject.
"So, I've read in the news that they found some dead men outside town just before we arrived. To be honest it shocked both of us." Scully looked to Emily again, putting on a more serious face. Emily nodded, willing her to go on. "Do any of you know what happened?"
"I haven't heard anything more than what I've seen on the news." Gina said.
"Did any of you know them?" Emily asked.
"I've seen one of the guys at the store where I work, but it clear that he was an outsider." Martin answered. "He was buying flowers and wine, said he found a date with some hot girls." He raised his eyebrows, leaning forward as if it was some sort of secret.
"Have you talked to the police about it?" Scully asked, curiously.
"Sweetie, none of us really trust the police to solve this thing. They've only ever been interested in shutting us down, saying this whole community is a discrimination against all the straight people. Can you believe the nerve?" Martin said with resentment evident in his voice. "Now, we know the sheriff is doing the best he can, but who knows if this whole thing is just some set up from the government."
"I bet it has something to do with those new-comers." Joan said in spite, her hand resting in Anna's lap. "They've been nothing but trouble since they arrived." She had a southern accent and a deeper voice, suiting her masculinity nicely.
"When have they even done anything to you?" Anna asked in disbelief, but Emily was quick to ask the next question before they could change the subject.
"What do you mean, Joan?" she asked. Instead of interrupting her wife once more, Anna waited for her answer instead.
"They never talk to anybody for more than a few seconds, never says hello or tries to be neighborly. There is always light coming out form their windows at all hours, they have strange fires going on in the backyard, which isn't legal by the way, and I could swear that I heard them mumbling strange rhymes when I was taking a walk at night. And don't forget all the men coming in out of that place, like some sort of common whorehouse. I don't know; that mansion just gives me the creeps." Joan said, gaining the attention of the agents.
"Oh, don't listen too much to her; she just doesn't like people who like to keep to themselves. They're just partying, having fun. There's nothing wrong about that!" Anna corrected.
"I don't know, maybe I'm putting too much thought into it, I just don't like that place." Joan defended. Tom took his hand and put in on top of Scully's on the middle of the table, to get her attention.
"They're talking about a group of 10 girls who moved here about 6 months ago. Don't worry, they're harmless." He said.
"Well, now that that's in order, why don't I go get dessert?" Anna asked rhetorically, not wanting to talk about it anymore. All of them began gathering the plates, before Emily and Dana excused themselves to go to the bathroom upstairs.
"We need to report this to the others; it might change things if the victims were romantically involved with their killers." Prentiss said when they had reached the top of the stairs. Scully took out a small ear device and pressed a button, waiting for someone to pick up.
"Mulder, it's Scully. We might have something here. It looks like the victims might have had some sort of romantic relation to their killers. We are going to talk to some girls that might be under suspicion. It doesn't sound like anything serious, but we need to rule all things out." She said with her hand to the device in her ear.
"-You're too paranoid, honey." Emily suddenly caught Martin whispering at the bottom of the stairs. "They're just a sweet couple like the rest of us, how could you even think that Lauren and Chris have anything to do with the cops." Shit, Emily thought. Looking over at Dana, she could see that the other agent hadn't noticed anything. Quickly she put her hand to the device, turning it off, before stepping closer to her.
"Quick, kiss me!" Emily whispered when she began to hear footsteps on the staircase, but before Scully had any chance at responding or finding out what was going on, the other agent had spun them around and pressed Scully flat against the wall, before closing the distance between them with a bruising kiss. Dana was sure her brain shut down right then and there and at first she did not know how to respond, only registering the butterflies in her stomach and the fireworks before her eyes. When Emily finally seemed to notice that Dana wasn't kissing her back, she was about to pull away, only to be stopped by Dana putting one hand on her cheek while the other sneaked around her waist, holding her closer. Scully hesitated for a second, their faces so close that their foreheads were practically touching, before she ever so slowly began to move closer and tighten her grip around Emily, until their lips finally met in a slow and sweet kiss. Scully's heart was beating like crazy, filled with tons of different emotions all at once. The only thing that kept her to the ground was the feeling of Emily's hand on her cheek, her skin under Scully's fingers, her sweet lips on her own. She wasn't exactly sure how long they stood there, kissing like that, all she knew was that she couldn't think anymore and didn't really want to think anyway.
Somewhere in the back of her head, Emily registered the same footsteps from before going down, but she paid no attention to it, the only thing on her mind being the feel of Dana pressed so tightly against her own body, her full lips moving against her own in a sweet rhythm, making her heart stop and go faster at the same time. Slowly, without wanting to break the softness of the moment, Emily glided her tongue against Scully's lower lip, before gaining access to her mouth, their tongues moving sweetly against each other, taking their time to explore. It was as if they were trapped in some sort of trance where time stood still, both of them scared of what might happen if they stepped away, both of them not really wanting to either.
Finally, when enough time had passed, Prentiss decided that maybe they should get back downstairs again. Without breaking their closeness, she moved her head to kiss along Scully's cheek as she moved her lips to her ear. Hearing a moan escape from Scully's lips almost made her lose all control over herself, before she pulled herself together and whispered quietly into Scully's ear:
"I'm sorry. I heard Martin on the stairs, talking to Tom suspiciously about us. I had to do something to keep up our fake identity." Maybe it was a bad excuse, but she could feel Scully slowly nod against her, before Emily moved back to look the other woman in the eyes, searching for any kind of signs of anything.
"Don't be sorry." Was all Dana could put together, before she moved closer once more, giving Emily a final and lingering kiss on the lips. "But maybe we should go down before they get other ideas about us in their head." Emily giggled.
"Right." She said.
When they went downstairs it was to be greeted by wolf whistles and dessert already served on the plates.
