A/N: A bit more simple and fluffy. Talking some things out. Would still like some feedback if anybody is actually keeping up with the story..

The next time Scully woke up it was in the middle of the night, by the opening of the door to the room. It was one of the nurses, one of the nice ones fortunately, who had come to change Emily's drop. Scully lazily opened her eyes and moved her head up from where it had been resting on Emily's shoulder, to look the nurse in the eyes.

"Don't worry, you can go back to sleep." The nurse whispered with a small smile securely placed on her lips. Scully, still half-sleeping, let her head fall carefully down once more, where she rubbed it gingerly against Emily's shoulder to find the perfect spot. "I'm just going to more around a bit and then I'll be out of your hair again." The nurse continued.

"You're not bothered by this?" Scully asked in her sleepy husky voice. She wasn't exactly sure why she asked, it wasn't like she really gave a damn, she guessed she had just been expecting some sort of reaction.

"Of course not, it's very common to see a couple sharing the bed when one of them is admitted. And it's not like you're naked or anything of that sort. You've been sleeping awkwardly and alone in that chair all week, I'm just glad to see you content." The nurse replied with honesty. Apparently it didn't matter to her that they were both women.

"Hm." Scully replied in a refreshing surprise. She had had no idea how people would react to finding out, but then again, she had never actually been in a relationship with a woman before. Wearily, Scully closed her tired eyes, to once more be indulged by sleep.

Next time she opened her eyes again, the sun was shining in through the window and morning had arrived. The feeling of Emily sweetly pressing kisses to her cheeks, her nose, her eyelids, caressing her collarbone and scalp, had awakened her. Blinking tiredly, she focused on the smiling face in front of her.

"Good morning beautiful." Emily said, making Dana smile back contently, before leaning forward to place a soft kiss on the lips before her, not being able to resist after waking up like that. The kiss however, beginning softly and hesitantly, quickly turned into something more hot and heavy, Dana desperate to finally get to feel and taste Emily. And Emily understood and kissed her back with just as much fever, pressing her body impossibly close to Danas, taking the other woman's hand to her breast. Emily moaned into Dana's mouth, as Dana squeezed her breast, her other hand finding its way to Emily's waist to pull her still closer as their tongues danced together. It took another minute before things final began to slow down, both of them aware of their surroundings and of the fact that Emily was still in her hospital bed, attached to a drop.

When they broke apart, Dana stayed just as close to Emily as before, their noses almost touching, as she lovingly caressed her cheek.

"God, I missed you." She let out in a whisper. She let her eyes wander over Emily's face, her hairline, her perfectly arched eyebrows, her dark eyes, her brilliant smile. Just letting it all sink in and commit itself to her memory. "What are we going to do now?" Dana finally asked after a moment of hesitation.

Emily saw the change in Dana and suddenly felt her own heart beating with anxiety. "What do you want to do?"

"I don't know." Dana answered honestly, carefully tracing an eyebrow with her fingertip. "All I know is that I don't want to let go." She said, her finger now tracing plumb lips.

"Then don't. We'll figure something out, I'm sure of it." Emily's tone was serious as she meant what she said. She didn't have any desires to end things here. "We don't work or live that far apart, it makes it a lot easier." She continued as she stroked Dana's hair. She knew in her heart that it wouldn't take all the problems away, but hopefully it would make things easier.

"But what about when we're away on cases? If you're just as devoted to your work as I am…" Scully paused. "I mostly just use my apartment for sleep; it's rare that I'm actually home and have time to myself, let alone to dating anyone. I think that I'm even getting more used to responding to 'Scully' than to 'Dana'." It was a vain attempt at lightening the mood.

Emily looked down as she paused. She knew how hard Hotch was having it with his family, and knew that work was just as important to her, something she had had to fight for. She just didn't want to let go and give up so easily.

"I don't want you to feel obligated or like you owe me anything. I want you to know that I don't have any expectations for you. If you want to walk away, I can't stop you. But I know in my heart that I'm not ready to walk away without even giving it chance. We live in a modern age, we have phones and computers to see each other and keep in touch. And it's not like I'm demanding to see you every single day. All I need to know is that you're willing to give this a chance." The words felt big as they left Emily's mouth.

Scully felt herself hesitate for a second. She could feel that this was it. Her answer would make or break all their chances. She thought of her catholic family, and how her father had been so disappointed when she had given up medicine to become an FBI agent. How awkward it would be to bring home a same-sex partner. She wondered if it was something that she would have to hide in her work. How many privileges she would suddenly lose. Just the simple thing of being out in public. But looking into Emily's eyes, she knew that none of that really mattered. All she wanted was to be able to wake up next to her every morning, to hold and love her. It was only her own insecurities showing face.

Emily held her breath as she watched Dana's face and the debate going on in her head. She didn't know if she would be able to give up now that they were so close. She knew for sure that the beautiful face in front of her would forever be engraved in her head and heart. But she couldn't make that decision for her, nor did she want to if it meant that her heart wasn't fully in it. She was sick and tired of getting hurt, and while she was understanding of this being the first same-sex encounter for Dana, she just wanted someone to want her for a change.

"I think I'm too far in to just give up." Dana said in an almost whisper, gently stroking Emily's cheek, as the brunette felt a weigh be lifted from her chest as her face broke out in the most brilliant smile ever, making Dana smile as well, before she grabbed her head and pulled her in for a bone crushing kiss, trying to show the other woman her happiness, joy and longing.

Dana stayed with Emily for the rest of the day, just talking and getting to know each other. She talked about her family, her brothers and her sister. About how she had used to dream about becoming a doctor. She talked about Mulder. About all their adventures and his sometimes annoying, sometimes caring or funny sense of character. About how he didn't really have any life outside his work and his search for the truth. How she didn't want to be like that. She told Emily about all the ambitions she had had for herself and her life. It wasn't a thought she had humored much before, but she had never been opposed to finding someone to settle down with, she had just been so focused on work that it was hard to imagine before. She had been a tomboy as a child, never the one dreaming of weddings and children. But she knew that she was an adult now and it made her rethink what she thought she knew.

Emily told Dana about her own upbringing. How she had always fought so hard to become independent, to be able to make her own choices. She never had anyone to turn to when she made mistakes, because that would be like admitting defeat. She had always felt like she needed to prove herself and her character. Even now, she had had to prove herself to be a valid player on the team, instead of their boss's, Strauss's, political puppet. It had meant that dating and future plans had been put on pause. She had always wanted to become a mother though, somewhere along the line.

"I could see it." Dana said smiling at Emily.

"What?" she asked.

"You, kids." They shared a smile. "You're so patient and kindhearted and funny. You would make a great mother, I'm sure of it." Dana said as she rested her head on Emily's shoulder. Emily laughed.

"That's only because you haven't seen me early in the morning before my coffee." Dana laughed.

"I can imagine." Their laughter slowly died out to become comfortable silence. "I'd like to get the chance to see that." Dana said after a while.

"I hope you'll get the chance to." Emily replied in a calm sort of happiness, before bending her neck to kiss the top of Dana's head, nuzzling her hair between her fingers. "I'd like that too." She said.

I'll try to begin the next chapter as soon as possible, but updates are probably going to be a bit irregular, much like now. I'm also slowly reaching an end with this.
