Colin was the one who got them face to face since Damian's apology.
He asked Damian to come with him for lunch after his shift at the book store and asked the same thing of Livy. Honestly, Colin wished he didn't have to resort to this sort of thing to get them to at least face each other, but he felt like if he didn't give them a push, they weren't going to interact at all.
Livy was the first to enter the store, buying a book she had been eyeing along with another book she bought on impulse. Livy couldn't enter a bookstore without buying at least two books.
Just as Colin was done ringing Livy up and in the process of taking his nametag off, Damian strode in.
"Sorry it took me awhile to get here, Colin. I-" Damian's words died on his lips as he stared at Livy. She stared back, creating an unnerving silence between the two.
"Uh… Surprise guys." Colin smiled sheepishly, trying to break the silence. "I thought it'd be nice for the three of us to head out to lunch. It'll be tons of fun." Colin had draped an arm over Livy's shoulders so she couldn't run away.
He really hoped this would work.
"I'm… alright with that." Damian nodded slowly. "But only so if Livy is comfortable with it."
Two pair of eyes were on Livy and she let out a soft sigh.
"It's not a big deal. Let's go eat." She stated curtly, and the three left the store, walking down the street to the restaurant.
Colin wished he could get Livy to smile and Damian to make a joking snide remark. However, it was quiet between them aside from the patter of their footsteps on the concrete.
"So… Livy, what have you been up to lately?" Colin inquired as the three entered the restaurant for lunch, taking a booth.
"Nothing much. I've been reading some books. Kicking criminal ass. I've started hanging out with a guy named Carter. I dunno… nothing much." At the mention of the other man's name, Damian straightened up a bit.
"Carter, huh? What do you and this Carter guy talk about?" Damian questioned, and Colin fidgeted in his seat. When he wanted Damian and Livy to talk, he didn't want it to be about a boy Livy was hanging around.
"I dunno. We joke about stuff and talk about random things." Her eyes then widened when she noticed the upset look on Damian's face.
"I see." Damian mumbled.
"Damian, that sounded wrong. Carter and I don't have anything serious going on. We're just friends. Not to mention he's a bit older than me." Livy stated, but Damian didn't ease up.
"I thought you wanted to be left alone and instead you've been talking to another man." Damian grumbled, and Livy felt herself getting angry.
"I wasn't being unfaithful to you. Carter just is a good friend. Calm down."
"Don't tell me to calm down. I've been keeping my distance from you because I thought you wanted to be alone when I could have seen you all this damn time!" Damian exclaimed, turning some heads at the restaurant.
"Damian, try not to yell." Colin whispered.
"Then maybe you should have texted or called! Honestly, I'm a big girl! I can handle things! I don't need two weeks of isolation!" Livy exclaimed, and Colin winced at the yelling, praying a waitress wouldn't kick them out.
"Then why the hell didn't you call me!?"
"Because I never know where the hell you are! One day you're here, the next you are undercover and can't risk a phone call! Not to mention, I didn't know if everything was okay with you after your dear grandfather manipulated you!"
"I needed you!"
"Well maybe I needed you too!"
It was quiet then, the two teens staring at each other. Colin let out a sigh that the yelling had stopped and that they hadn't been asked to leave. He then bit his lip, hoping that what he was about to say wouldn't start another argument and stated,
"If you both needed each other, then maybe you two shouldn't have given each other space. Maybe you guys needed to stay together."
Neither Damian or Livy spoke. The silence was broken when they all ordered when the waitress came over.
"I missed you." Damian whispered, looking at a smudge on the table. Livy was looking out the window and whispered,
"I missed you too."
Colin smiled at that. They weren't exactly back to how they used to be, but it was a step.
