Chpt.18
"I have a lot to thank you for, Indira." Damian stated as he left a bundle of yellow roses on the grave. "Your daughter is truly a joy in my life. If not for you, I would not know that joy." Damian let out a long sigh.
"I don't honestly know a good amount about you. I know that you were in a gang in Puerto Rico and you had a lot of connections. You had depression. You loved Jason. You loved Livy. You loved your friends and family… and then you killed yourself." Damian ran his fingers through his hair.
"I wish I knew you better. Knew you more than just a shell that gave birth to the girl I love." Damian rested a hand on the gravestone.
"Apparently today is your birthday. Livy would have come by to drop off some flowers, but she is at a place very far from here on a mission with Jason. So, I came today in her stead. I'm Damian, by the way. I don't know if Livy had told you anything about me, but I'm her… boyfriend." Damian chuckled a bit.
"That word is so strange to me, Indira. Boyfriend. I feel like we are more than that. I prefer the word partner or companion, but boyfriend sounds so… juvenile. I feel like when young children proclaim that they are a boyfriend, it is so short lived. But Livy and I… we've been together for a long time… and I feel like that won't change." Damian smiled a bit.
"Yellow roses?" Damian was surprised that someone managed to sneak up on him and he whirled around to see a woman who looked to be in her twenties. She had tan skin, brown eyes, and a hat that covered her long curly brown hair. On her hands were black gloves and she wore a stylish jacket.
"Yes. Yellow roses. Apparently they were her favorite." Damian stated, beckoning to the grave to show the woman the name."
The woman smiled a bit.
"Indira. I knew her." She chuckled a bit. "A naïve girl. What is your affiliation with her?" she inquired. Damian eyed the woman with some mistrust.
"I am in a serious relationship with her daughter." Damian informed. "What is your relation to Indira?"
"I am her cousin." The woman informed. Damian took that moment to quickly take note of his surroundings. He was alone with this woman.
Before the woman could make a move, Damian slipped a knife out of his boot and pinned the woman to a tree with the knife hovering over the woman's throat.
"Indira did not have a cousin. Who are you?" Damian growled.
The woman's eyes narrowed, and in a swift movement, she had Damian's knife in her hands and she was the one who had him pinned to a tree with a knife to his throat.
"I won't kill you. Just let me walk away and forget you saw me." she hissed, teeth clenched.
"Actually. You will tell me who you are." Damian smirked, pressing the tip of his second concealed knife lightly against the woman's stomach.
She glared at him, and Damian couldn't help but notice how the woman clenched her jaw just like Livy did when she was angry.
"You won't believe me." she stated, but Damian refused to move the knife.
"Try me." The woman and Damian held eye contact for several seconds until the woman slowly lowered her knife.
"My name is Indira Xavier Rispoli." The woman whispered. "I am Livy's mother."
Damian's eyes widened. He could tell that she was telling the truth, and he could see that this woman looked like the Indira that Livy had pictures of.
"How is that possible? You died."
"I came back." She stated. "I knew people. People who weren't happy with my suicide. They pulled some strings and I was brought back via a thing called a Lazarus pit." She shook her head sadly. "I didn't want to be back. However, the remaining gang members on the island tried to rehabilitate me. It… worked. I saw a meaning to my life, but I could never face the people who knew me. I killed myself. I left them to deal with my problems like a coward."
"So what now? You go throughout life as a nameless person while your lover is tormented over your death and your daughter grew up never knowing her mother. You were a coward then and you are still a coward now for not facing them." Damian growled.
Indira looked at him with some hurt, but Damian remained scowling at her.
"Indira, I promise I won't tell anybody about this little meet up, but you should do so yourself." Damian took the knife away from her, reached down to the yellow roses, then handed them to her. "Here. Compliments of your daughter and the man you loved."
With that, Damian stormed off.

Jason sighed as he collapsed onto the bed in his safe house. Livy was settling back into her room as well. They has just gotten back from a mission in Japan.
As Jason started to untie his shoes, he noticed a piece of paper on the pillow of his bed.
I didn't leave anything behind when I left. Jason thought as he grabbed the paper and opened it.
Dear Jason,
Writing this letter has been very difficult. I promise, this isn't a hoax. On the eighteenth of this month, please visit the old chili dog place that you used to take me to at 5 PM. I will explain everything there. I love you, Jason. I always have. I have only been too afraid to tell you.
Hope to see you soon,
Love,
Indira Xavier Rispoli aka your Bajita
Jason eyes widened at the letter and he felt his eyes starting to water.
If this is a hoax… I am going to kill the person who wrote this. Jason thought. Wait the eighteenth… that's today! Jason glance at the clock. It read 4:51 in bright red numbers.
Jason quickly through on his jacket.
"Livy, I'll be out for a while. Text me if you decide to get together with Damian." before Livy could respond, Jason had closed the door.
Jason sprinted down the street, looking for the old chili dog place he took Indira to. He finally came across it and saw that sitting on a bench outside of the building was a woman with long curly brown hair, tan skin, and brown eyes.
"Indi?" he whispered, feeling tears well up in his eyes as he ran to the woman. It was getting hard for him to see right.
He stopped in front of the woman, staring at her face.
"I-Indi?"
"Hello, Jason." The woman nodded. Jason threw himself on top of her, hugging the woman close to his chest while crying.
"Indi? This is a dream. It feels so real but it has to be a dream. Look at you. Beautiful as always. I don't want to wake up, Bajita. I've missed you so much."
"Jason, you're not dreaming. I'm alive." Indira whispered, hugging Jason and kissing his cheek. Tears were running down her own cheeks.
"How? How are you… you killed yourself." Jason stated, bewildered.
"I did." Indira nodded. "Please, listen to what I have to say."
~*~*~*~*~An Hour Later~*~*~*~*~
"You and I were revived the same way." Jason whispered.
"Heh. Guess this makes us more similar." Indira let out a weak chuckle. She had cried several times during her explanation and looked exhausted.
"You still want to keep this from Livy?" Jason questioned.
"Jason, I have to go back to work in two days. I don't want to pop into Livy's life say, "hello, I'm your dead mother" then disappear again. When I tell her, I want to be able to be there for a while." Indira explained.
"So, another time then." Jason whispered, but then smirked. "Still, it doesn't mean that you can't meet her."
~*~*~*~*~Later~*~*~*~*~
"Livy, this is Arianna. She is an old friend of mine who is now an undercover agent. She's going to be laying low here for the next two days until she's sent out on another mission." Jason stated, and Livy looked up at the woman.
"She looks…familiar." Livy whispered.
"I just have a common face. It helps me blend in." Indira grinned. Livy shrugged, accepting the answer and couldn't help but like the Arianna woman.
"It's a pleasure meeting you, Arianna." Livy smiled up at the woman, extending her hand to shake. Indira clasped her daughter's hand and shook it.
"The pleasure is all mine."
