"Would you like whipped cream on your hot chocolate?" the waitress inquired, and Livy nodded with a large smile on her face.
"Yes please." Once the waitress walked away with their beverage orders, Damian looked at her while shaking his head.
"You can be so juvenile."
"What? I happen to love hot chocolate. And who can say no to whipped cream?" she questioned with a small giggle.
"It's more of a dessert than a nutritious beverage to go along with a meal." Damian grumbled.
"Hot chocolate never killed anyone, and neither has whipped cream. Now, what are you thinking about getting for breakfast? I know that a cup of black coffee won't be able to sustain you." Livy smirked.
Damian never admitted it out loud, but he ate quite frequently. Due to working out rigorously, Damian burned through what he ate quickly, often leaving him very hungry. So when Damian ate, he ate a lot. Livy was similar, except Damian was conscious about eating healthy while devouring his food. Livy, on the other hand, loved carbs, sugar, and anything that tickled her fancy regardless of nutrition.
"I am thinking about getting an egg white omelet with mushrooms, cheese, spinach, and tomatoes with the side of some turkey sausage, wheat bread, and a bowl of fruit. What about you?" Damian questioned.
"Hmmm, I'm thinking about getting the red, white, and blue French toast that has the bananas, strawberries and blueberries on it. I think I'm also gonna get a side of bacon to go along with it." Livy smiled and Damian sighed.
"If you keep eating sweets, your teeth will rot."
"I take pride in dental care, calm down." Livy sighed.
"Regardless, it's still unhealthy. Bacon is by far the most unhealthy breakfast meat." Damian grumbled.
"But it's so goooood." Livy smiled. "Not to mention that scrapple is probably the most unhealthy breakfast meat."
"Scrapple? What is scrapple?" Damian questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"It's a Pennsylvania thing. Lancy loves eating it when we go to her favorite diner in Philly." Livy explained.
"Okay, but what exactly is it?" Damian inquired.
"Well… it's the scraps. Basically it's what is not used from a pig mixed up with flour and spices." Livy explained.
"That sounds absolutely disgusting." Damian sneered.
"It's actually really good." Livy grinned a bit.
At that moment the waitress reappeared with their drinks, then asked for their orders. Once the waitress was off again, Livy took a sip of the hot chocolate, sighing in content.
"How's your coffee?" she questioned, and Damian simply shrugged his shoulders up and down.
"Fair."
The woman tried to brush off Damian's retort and asked them what they wanted for breakfast. She jotted down Livy and Damian's orders, while smiling a bit out how opposites the orders were from one another, then went to inform the cook.
"Damian, is that you?" both Livy and Damian looked up at the stranger that made his way to their table. Livy didn't seem to recognize him, but Damian certainly did.
He was tall with broad shoulders, however the way he held himself made him look very weak and nerdy. His black hair was slicked back and he had a large pair of glasses covering his eyes. To Livy, he looked very weak but at the same time, very kind. He just had that sort of feel about him that he wouldn't cause you any harm.
"Good evening, Kent." Damian grumbled.
"What brings you to Metropolis?" the man inquired, and Damian shot him a harsh look.
"I don't see how that is any of your business."
"Well, this is my city." The man stated. "Is your father here with you?"
"No. I am here with my lovely companion, Livy." Damian informed, gesturing to Livy, who was watching the exchange while sipping at her hot chocolate.
She quickly placed the mug down to shake the man's hand.
"Livy, it is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Clark Kent. I am a reporter for the Daily Planet." He informed.
So that's how Damian knows him. He was probably interviewed by him… then again, they seem to be more familiar with each other than a simple interviewer/interviewee relationship.
"The pleasure is mine, Mr. Kent." Livy grinned.
"So, are you the mysterious girl who is in a relationship with Damian?" Clark inquired. Before Livy could say anything, Damian snapped,
"I don't want you to make an article out of her, Kent."
"Of course not. I'd have a pen and paper out if I were. I was just curious." Clark informed innocently. "And may I sit with you? You still haven't told me why you're here."
"No, Kent! Get-"
"Of course Mr. Kent." Livy smiled at the man, sliding over in her booth to let him in.
Damian shot Livy an angry and betrayed look as if to say,
"Didn't you hear my angry tone? I don't want this man here, idiot." While Livy shot him back a look which Damian read as,
"Stupid boyfriend, this dude is a reporter. You have to look good in front of them so to keep up the public image and the like. Stop being so paranoid."
Damian knew that Livy was trying to help, however, she didn't know who Clark Kent actually was. Damian didn't feel like having a team up with an Alien.
"So, Livy, how long have you and Damian been dating?" Clark inquired.
"About two years." Livy informed and Clark's eyes widened with surprise.
"Really? Damian, I think you have a more steady relationship than Bruce ever had."
"Father is merely picky and indecisive when it comes to women. Not to mention, he is often too preoccupied with work to concentrate on the opposite sex." Damian explained, his voice curt.
"I see, so, how did you two meet? Is she the daughter of a wealthy business man?" he inquired. Livy was about to come up with a cover story about some sappy 'bumped into each other at a café' story, but Damian was already talking.
"No, she is the daughter of my father's second adopted son, Jason Todd. I met her when I was young and she bumped into me on a rooftop babbling about having to help her father and it was history from then on." It was Livy's turn to be alarmed.
Did Damian just say that? Of course this journalist is going to ask questions as to why Jason needed help and why we were on a rooftop! Livy thought however, Clark simply raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"I see. So, Livy, I don't think I have heard of you? Are you a part of the family business?" Clark inquired.
Oh… Oh. Clark knows. A reporter knows. That must be why Damian didn't want him around, because he knows the secret. Livy thought.
"I-I…"
"Yes." Damian answered for her, seeing the panic written all over her face. Damian hated to see her so worried. "She works with her father all over the world and she helps out where she can when in Gotham. She isn't entirely well known." Damian explained.
"I see." Clark nodded with a smile.
"Wait… how do you know?" Livy questioned with a whisper.
"He cheats with his x-ray vision." Damian grumbled and Clark chuckled.
"Your father lined his mask with lead. It wasn't that easy."
I'm sitting next to Superman. Livy thought. Oh my God the Superman is literally sitting next to me. This is awesome!
"So, what are the two of you doing here? Anything I should be concerned about?"
"Tt. No. Livy and I are spending some time away from my family. I like the privacy I have when alone with her."
"Well, then if there's nothing I should be concerned about, I'll leave you two alone." With that, Clark stood from the table. "Pleasure as always, Damian." he then smiled at Livy. "It was nice to meet you, Livy." With that, he walked off.
"I'm sorry I had him sit with us. I didn't know-"
"Livy, it's alright. I knew that you didn't know and that you just wanted to make me look good in front of a journalist." Damian gave her a small smile. "I appreciate your concern."
At that moment, the waitress came to give them their food.
"Sorry it took a while." She apologized, but Livy smiled at her.
"No problem." With that, the waitress walked away and Damian and Livy silently devoured their food.
"Do you think he'll follow us? I don't think he was entirely convinced when you told him that this was more or less a vacation." Livy stated in between fork fulls of French toast.
"Most likely. Good thing the two of us have time to kill, and all we have to do is treat this like an extended date." Damian chuckled as he leaned in across the table and pecked Livy on the cheek.
"Sounds like fun." Livy chuckled with a small smile. "So, aside from breakfast did you have anything else planned for today?"
"Do you think that I wouldn't have anything planned? Because if so, you clearly do not know me as well as I thought." He smirked.

"This place is huge." Livy whispered in awe, her eyes scanning the walls.
"I figured that you'd like it. This is one of the largest bookstores in the state." He stated with a small shrug. He was trying not to show how happy he was that she liked it.
"Any book you want and I'm sure it'll be here." Damian said as he looked over at Livy, who was still in amazement about all the books.
"Livy?" Damian placed a hand on the girl's shoulder and she snapped out of the trance she was in.
"Let's look around!" she said with excitement, then sprinted forward, Damian following closely behind.
~*~*~*~*~Several hours later~*~*~*~*~
"Most girls would rather me spend my money on buying them clothes, not books." Damian stated, and Livy chuckled.
"Some people find happiness in what they wear. I find happiness in what I read." She stated, then felt her stomach rumble. "… I also find happiness in what I eat."
"Between books and food, you are going to leave me bankrupt." Damian stated, but he was smirking at her playfully.
"I am sorry for being such a high maintenance girlfriend." Livy chuckled, pecking Damian on the cheek.
"Good. Now, where do you want to eat? Knowing you, you can't possibly be craving something healthy."
"Hmmm…" Livy hummed, but then her eyes laid on a building across the street and she smiled. "I know just the place." Damian followed Livy's line of sight and shook his head.
"No."
"Please."
"No."
"Oh, c'mon. I'm in the mood for some clam chowder and burgers." Damian glared at her, but had to acquiesce.
He was going to eat at a Red Robin.
~*~*~*~*~Later~*~*~*~*~
"Did you have a nice day?" Damian inquired as he walked out of the shower. Livy's hair was still a bit damp, having been in the shower before Damian, and she was reading on the bed.
"I had a blast- oh my god!" Livy exclaimed. She had looked up from her book mid-sentence and notice that Damian was wearing nothing but a towel. A towel that was extremely low on his waist.
"Jesus Damian, are you practicing to be an Abercrombie and Fitch male model or something?" Livy questioned, feeling her face flush red. Damian smirked at her, not making any move to get dressed.
"What's wrong? I assumed that most young females like yourself would enjoy a little skin."
"Dammit Damian, just put some clothes on." Livy pouted, but her eyes were glued on Damian's abs and not his eyes.
"You don't sound too convincing." Damian chuckled as he walked over to the bed. "Would you like me to remove the towel?"
"No! Damian, this can't lead to anything good. Please don't do this. I don't want to be like my mom. I…"
"Livy." Damian whispered, the teasing gone from his eyes. "Is that why you are so afraid of us… becoming more intimate?" Livy looked him in the eye and slowly nodded her head.
"Damian… I'm sorry. I love you but I'm so afraid. I don't want to risk having a baby and if I got pregnant… God. Bruce would have this 'I told you so' demeanor about him, saying that my inability to say 'no' runs in the family or something. And Jason… he would freak. I'd have to give the baby up for adoption because I wouldn't be able to do abortion, I just couldn't, and parting with it would be so painful…"
"Shhh." Damian put a hand over Livy's shoulder and kissed her on the cheek.
"Livy, you are not your mother. I've seen you take birth control pills-"
"Damian, that's just in case I get raped."
"I know, but you have your birth control pills, and I'd wear a condom. It was be nearly impossible for you to get pregnant."
"Nearly impossible, but not completely." Livy stated. "Damian, I am truly sorry. I would understand if you-"
"If I what? Wouldn't want to be with you?" Damian questioned. "Just because you have an aversion to sex doesn't make me love you any less. I just… I love you, Livy, and you make me very lustful. Just looking at you when I'm in a mood makes me want to ravish you."
Livy felt like she should have been afraid by what Damian was saying, but his eyes were gentle and soft.
"We've dated for about two years, Livy, and we've known each other for even longer. With the job we have… I feel like that if I have an opportunity to do something, I should do it before the privilege is taken away from me." Damian explained. "But, if you decline from having intercourse with me, I will respect your wishes. Regardless of your answer, I will always love you." Damian whispered.
Livy hugged him tightly, and Damian ran his fingers through her hair.
"I love you, Damian. I love you so much." Livy said as she felt Damian's arm wrap around her.
"You should rest. It's been a long day." Damian stated, and Livy smiled up at him.
"Thank you." With that, she was asleep.
