Chpt.28
"You belong to me." a deep voice growled in Livy's ear. She absolutely hated that phrase. She had heard it so many time from super villains, punks, and cocky assassins that she wanted to shoot the next person who thought they had a right to say that to her.
However, when the voice belonged to Damian, she resisted grabbing her gun. But, she did wriggle out of his grip.
"What did you say?" Livy inquired an edge of irritation to her voice. Damian paused a moment, noticing the unnerved look on his girlfriend's face.
"I said, you belong to me." he repeated, but said the statement in a much less possessive way.
"I belong to you, huh?" Livy questioned, a hint of a growl in her voice. Damian quickly wrapped an arm around Livy tightly.
"You're making it sound worse than how I said it. I simply… I don't like it when other people feel that they have the right to touch you. I feel like a child who doesn't want to share his toy, but in essence that is how I feel." Damian explained slowly.
"So… what? You saying that I belong to you reaffirms your boyfriend status or something?" Livy questioned and Damian ran a hand through his hair while letting out a heavy sigh. He didn't know that saying one sentence could kill the mood so quickly.
"I suppose in a way, yes. However, I was also under the impression that dirty talk tends to make females more aroused." He sighed.
"Well, not me. I honestly don't appreciate it. In fact, it makes me kinda uncomfortable." Livy frowned, and Damian tilted his head to the side, suddenly looking concerned.
"Uncomfortable? Why?"
"Because it makes me feel like property. Like I'm some piece of meat that anyone can own and eat." Damian wrapped his arms around Livy in a hug and kissed the top of her head.
"I apologize. I did not know how saying that would affect you." He nodded honestly, then laid them both down. "May I start over?" Livy couldn't manage to continue glaring at the boy and slowly relaxed in his hold.
"Yes, please."
"I love you." He smiled and Livy leaned in for a kiss, but before their lips locked she whispered,
"I love you too."
Chpt.29
"I found you." Livy whispered calmly. She was in a dense forest near Afghanistan where she found private Brian McLaughlin, who had been missing in action and assumed dead several months prior.
"God… god I'm seeing things." The man whispered. He was curled up in front of a dead fire, bruised, muddy, and covered in dry blood. Livy didn't know if it was his blood or someone else's but she didn't care.
"Brian?" she tried again, slowly moving closer to the man.
"Are you an angel? You're an angel, right?" he shook his head. "but why is the angel wearing a mask?"
"Brian, my name is little red. I'm here to help you." Livy stated, taking out a water bottle and slowly slid it over for the man to grasp.
"Wh-why is the angel wearing a mask?" the man seemed on the verge of hysterics and he made no move to drink the water. Livy peeled off her mask, revealing her face.
"See? I'm an angel. I'm here to get you to drink some water." Livy informed softly, walking over to the man's side and sitting next to him. She then opened the water bottle up and looked at the man.
"Okay, angel. Okay." Brian nodded and Livy slowly poured the water down the man's throat. He drank thirstily, finishing the bottle in less than a minute.
Livy knew that this man was exhausted. She also knew that he also was not in his right mind and before he could do anything that could potentially harm himself, Livy let him drink a second bottle of water where she placed some sleeping sedatives inside. She then pressed a button in her belt that would signal Jason to pick her up with the helicopter.
"Angel." The man yawned. "Angel, thank you." He grinned, then was asleep.
The helicopter was over their position in a matter of minutes.
Livy looked down at the sleeping soldier, smiling softly.
"No, thank you." She whispered to the man and waited for the helicopter to lower so she could bring the man home back to his family.
