BRADY MEETS DADDY

(CASSIE'S POV)

Mom and dad arrived at about 6 o'clock in the evening. Today, as usual Rachel had made the dinner but Rachel was in full mood to re-impress mom and so ever dish was either mom's favorite or dad's and also to be admitted half of what I hated. Rachel knows that very well and that was why she promised me a pizza later on. I just had to act in front of mom and dad that I was eating. That wasn't a bad deal, right? Rachel is one of those girls who takes full care of everyone close to her and that is why, she is just like a mother to me. Well, not exactly a mother because she would never have a kid of my age. She is like my sister and in actual, future sister in law. Cool, right?

"So, kiddo you having fun here?" dad asked.

"Yeah, dad." I said.

"So, Paul is taking good care of you, right?" dad asked, a bit too skeptically.

"Yeah, dad. He's a good brother. I think I need to talk to you guys about something." I said. Just then, Rachel came up with my cell phone.

"Cassie, Brady is asking when you are calling him for dinner." Rachel said out loud. It was loud enough for dad and mom to listen. Paul smirked. Alright, this was an explosion in line.

"Who is Brady?" dad asked as I sunk my sight into the plate. I can't lie while looking in someone's eyes and even otherwise I know I'm not a good liar.

"Honey, you have a boyfriend? So this is what you wanted to talk about?" mom asked.

"Sort of." I said.

"No diplomacy, Cassidy Lahote." Dad said.

"Alright, yes." I said.

"Where does he live?" mom asked.

"On the Reservation." I said.

"Is he a…" dad asked but didn't care to complete it.

"Yes." I said.

"Honey, you know whom are you dating? What if…" mom was saying when I cut her off.

"Mom, he has imprinted on me." I was really confident in the first 3 words but my voice lowered itself.

"When are we meeting him?" Mom asked. Paul was still laughing silently. C'mon, does he have to do this?

"When…whenever you s…say." I stuttered. I'll take that back from Paul soon enough.

"So, great. We're meeting him on dinner tomorrow." Dad said. You can understand one thing. If dad says 'so, great' means he is in a mood to over inspect things. And that is one of the things I learnt in these years with him. Mom knew him earlier too because dad and she were friends since childhood. I went upstairs after mom and dad were finished eating. Rachel brought me my pizza.

"So, now what are you going to do?" she asked.

"Calling him, right now." I said after taking a bite of my slice when Rachel went away.

(Bold- Brady, italics- Cassie)

Hey, blue eyes!

Tomorrow at 8.

You alright?

Yeah, I'm good. You're coming tomorrow at 8, alright?

You scared me.

Dad will do that tomorrow.

You were supposed to make me confident?

I'm not myself.

Alright. I'll meet you tomorrow and my… err... future father-in-law?

You're crazy.

Well, you remember the pairing logic, don't you?

Bye. See ya.

Send me a kiss, right now. That makes me confident.

Bye, bye. I said and made a kissy noise.

Love you.

Bye

I hung up and waited for tomorrow but wait, I had something else to tell them. I ran down again.

"Mom, dad! I have something to discuss." I went straight to their room.

"What? Your boyfriend …what was his name...can't come?" mom asked.

"Mom, his name is Brady. Actually, I have something even important. Mom, do you know anything about Makabah tribe?" I asked.

"WHAT?" mom flinched.

"What happened, Cassie?" dad asked.

"Mom, dad see this first." I said and made a small fire in my own palm. I wanted it to be as small as it could because I hadn't got a good control yet.

"It came to you?" mom asked with tears in her eyes.

"Why mom?" I asked as I blew it off.

"She got the abilities from Theo." Dad told mom.

"His name was Theo?" I asked as I dell on my knees crying. This name had been killing me all along in my nightmares. He was the one who had always tried to kill me before I came here to La Push. It was possible that he was sending the vampires but… why would he try to kill me? I was his own daughter.

"Cassie?" Rachel came towards me.

"No, I'm…I'm okay." I said wiping my tears. "Mom, please tell me about him. I know it may hurt but I need to know."

"His name was Theo and I met him in college. It was love at first sight kind of a thing…." She went on with how she spent three years with him. He had told everything about the Makabah tribe to her and she had seen her train his abilities.

"Then after my marriage, when I was going to tell him about your birth I heard him talking to his cousin that if a child is born, he will do anything to kill it because the kid maybe a terror on his plans to rule the vampire world. His successor is the only one who will be able to challenge him." mom said. "I ran away but he followed us, honey. He tried to kill you many times if you remember. The reason you are scared of water is …"

"He tried to drown me?" I asked.

"From a cliff." Mom said.

"Let's…let's just forget it. Right, kiddo?" dad asked. The environment in the room was all blue. Dad wanted to turn it back to normal.

"Mom, last question. How did he practice?" I asked again normally. I had understood too and I wanted it to be normal too.

"I guess it's written in the book. That was why I thought you should buy it at that time." mom said as normally as me.

"I get it." I said and went upstairs. I felt bad for awhile but why should I? Was it my fault that I took birth? No, it certainly wasn't. I had my rights to take birth… gosh, I'm sounding like an independence leader, right now.

(BRADY'S POV)
I was again on my night shift. Damn, these woods suck.

Dude, I hate this night shift. –Cole.

Actually it's your first time. This is why you kinda hate it. Otherwise I really love it. – Me.

I can sense sarcasm in this. – Cole

Wow, I never knew you had a sense of sensing. – Me.

What do you mean? I sense sensing and if you don't think I can sense sensing, then I can sense you're senseless. – Cole

What? – Me.

I mean you are really nervous. – Cole.

That's crap. – Me.

Oh, really Fuller? - Embry.

Why don't you guys shut up? – Me.

Future father-in-law? Hmmmmmm… - Cole.

Shut it Sherlock. - Me.

I heard Paul's dad is even jerkier than him. – Cole

What do you mean? Don't say that in front of Cassie or she'll kill you. –me

Cole, what's with the call? – Embry.

Ww….what call? – Cole

Before, they could sense that I knew about it, I changed the topic.

NEXT EVENING

(CASSIE'S POV)

What do these guys want from me? That's so an idiotic policy. How can this be followed and that too in a day? I mean it's so crazy that Jake appears in the morning and says that all imprints should learn to live together with peace. Is this a revolted country or some country in ancient times? We are living in 21st century and we all have freedom to express ourselves, right? And if you are smart enough then you know why I don't want this. I don't have problem to other imprints. I love all my friends but … there is one who may never be ready to patch up with me and I don't want to patch it up either. Anyway, I should rather worry about tonight. Fortunately, tonight is a soccer match. Dad is a great fan of soccer and so is Brady. I hope this works. This wasn't to be so formal like Brady's house but dad, as I know, wants to check Brady very well. So this means I have a double sided problem.

I was helping Rachel with the food and looking at the clock counting each and every minute of my life, not life but the dinner that was going to be on the way. Mom was too helping us. At the exact second when the clock struck 8, the door bell rang up.

"I'll get the door." I said and Rachel smirked. I went to the door and opened it. It was exact person at the exact time. It was Brady in the same blue shirt I had given him with black trousers. There was something different with… his hair. They weren't in the front as always.

"Am I alright?" he asked.

"Yeah, except…" I said.

"It took me half a day to prepare myself and I never expected an 'except' from you." He said. I ruffled his hairs. Gosh, they were back to normal.

"Now, it's okay." I said. "What's in this packet?"

"Bribe for your dad." he said. I tilted my head a bit. "Whoa! Don't do that. You know that's far more than killer for me."

"I think you need to sleep after this." I said.

"I admit." He said. "Hope I don't do anything reckless." He said.

"Man up, Brady. If I like you, they'll also love you. You know even if they don't like you, I'll stay with you, I promise. Well, actually this won't happen because they'll love you. You are a great guy. Now, if you don't have confidence on yourself, it's not my problem because I do." I said.

"You know I should have gone to Seth than Cole and Embry who filled me up." he said. "Anyway, if your dad doesn't like me, what about eloping?"

"Shut up." I said.

"Who's there, Cassie?" mom asked.

Brady went in front of me, to the living room after giving me the packet. I filled him with the confidence enough.

"Good evening, Mrs. Lahote." Brady said.

"Mom, this is…" I was cut off.

"Brady, right?" mom asked.

"Yeah." I said. Dad showed up from the front door with Paul.

"Good evening, Mr. Lahote." Brady said. Did this have to be done?

"You are?" dad asked. C'mon dad!

"Brady Fuller, sir." He said.

"Why don't Rachel and you go and make the food?" dad actually was telling me to go in the kitchen.

"Yeah, sure." I said. I went to the kitchen after Rachel. The packet had the same chocolate pudding that I had made to his house that day. Rachel and I were taking rounds in the kitchen, tensed. Of course, the food had been cooked.

"What do you think?" I asked.

"I'm sure they will like him." she said. After, fifteen minutes, Paul came in laughing.

"You won't believe what just happened!" he laughed.

"What?" I asked.

"Dad… dad just…" he laughed.

"Are you telling me or not?" I asked.

"He asked him if you both… I shouldn't just say that." He said. I had gotten why was he laughing.

"C'mon! How could he ask things like that?" I said.

Later, while we were eating dinner, I sensed out that mom likes him while dad is still busy checking if he's 'healthy' for me or not.

"I guess the soccer match has started." I said and went to the table, picked up the remote and turned on the TV. The TV screen now displayed the guys running after the ball. One of the games that I love to watch is soccer. The best part is that dad and Brady were discussing and this was making them get along. This was awesome! Finally, dad has started liking him!
