RECOVERIES
(CASSIE'S POV)
I don't know since when I'm here but it feels like a month here. I mean I'm dozing off every one or two hours and when I wake up, I am being given an injection to sleep back again but I really enjoy one thing in all of this. Brady is holding my hand since then and whenever I wake up crying, he is the one move his warm hand on my forehead. I actually enjoy the warmth because I am feeling really cold. I woke up about the seventh time, I guess and again scared. I mean I am waking up like a criminal does, totally scared but like ever… he's there with me.
"Shshshshh… it's okay. I'm here." He said in the most soothing voice and removed my bangs from my eyes. I guess he was just going to sleep and I disturbed him. This is enough of it. I don't want any more haunts now. I am drop dead sacred, mind. What else do you want?
"I'm okay." I said.
"Do you want anything?" he asked.
"Can I go back home?" I asked. I really wanted to see each one of them, especially Megan and Paul. I was actually thinking how Paul was. I just wanted to tell him that I'm okay and he doesn't need to worry now. I wanted to clear our doubts with Megan and apologize to her for calling her a bitch all this time ad tell her how much I missed her. I wanted to meet Hayley and tell her that I saw every time I spent with her, the time I had my eyes closed and needed courage. I wanted to meet Sonny, Ashley and the wolves and thank them for what they did for me. I wish I was in my bed rather than being here between medicines and cold. I hate this smell and my mouth tastes so bitter. I think I should've asked Brady for a candy.
"I know how bad you want to go back home. I seriously understand but you know we can't." he replied.
"Can I have a candy?" I asked innocently.
"Um…" he said. "I think you can't."
Seriously? Not even a candy?
"Okay." I replied as calmly as I can. Who else can, except me?
"Don't worry. Some days more here." He said and kissed my forehead. There was a small explosion in my stomach. Why don't I get used to him kissing me? How would I? Reasons are
1) Brady and I have a lack of interest in PDA (Public Display of Affection).
2) Paul hates it when we do PDA.
So, I guess there is no chance I would get used to it. I shouldn't even get used to it.
"Where is Paul?" I asked.
"They're outside. Carlisle doesn't want anyone disturbing you." He replied.
"But I want to see them, please." I argued but arguing with him is a perfect stupidity to do. You can never win if he's determined and so happened with me. I ended up losing again. You know he has got a thing that I really can't fight through. Yeah, whatever. He's Brady after all. What else can you expect from him? He is stubborn, far more than any mule on this planet…no in this whole universe. I know that really well.
4 DAYS LATER…
Do I really have any idea when did these guys move me back at my place? Who carried me back here from the sick home AKA Hospital? Who was the angel? I got up in my bed. I love my soft bed. I love to drown in my beddy. I love to sink in my pillow.
"Just right now." Edward said.
"Um…" I said and looked around in my room. Since when do I have a TV here? Wait a sec, a TV?! Finally, I have it. So, this was why Paul was saying there's a surprise. Edward laughed. That was nothing to laugh about.
"Okay, Cassie. Now, basically I would warn you not to think over much like you already do." Carlisle said. Seriously?
I don't think over much.
"Yes, you do." Edward said.
"Yeah, you really do." Brady agreed. Brady shut up or I swear I'll make you shut up.
"Brady, don't speak. She doesn't like it." Edward said.
"Stop reading my mind!" I complained.
"Like we say…take your meds properly, eat well, don't stay stressed." Carlisle was saying when I asked: "Who is 'we' here?"
"We, the doctors." Carlisle replied. I guess Sue too says that. She's a nurse anyway. "So, this is it. You'll be back to perfect in a week or two." Carlisle replied.
"A week or two?!" I asked.
"What else do you expect? More?" Edward asked. He knew I was thinking that I wanted to get back to school as fast as I could.
"No, can't it be a little faster?" I asked.
"Cass, you ain't like us." Paul said. "Besides just look at yourself. You can't even take a risk to walk around. You're weak."
"Oh seriously?" I retorted.
"Yeah, who knows what bones you will break?" Cole added a snide comment.
"What did you just say?" I asked, looking at him with the corner of my eyes.
"No, nothing." he replied.
"Better that be!" I said.
"Don't worry. I did your notes and homework. You are missing almost nothing." Seth said.
"Seriously?" I asked smiling. Finally, someone understands me!
"Hayley, Ashley, Sonny, Brady, I and the others did." Seth replied. Happy, little…sorry giant punk.
"Brady, but you were with me there, almost every time." I said.
"Oh yeah. I know but I did complete mine too." He replied.
"But I'm missing my PE, that's another thing that I don't really care about it, and I'm missing my lab sessions, I've gotta help the drama club and the literary club…" I said and Brady put his finger on my lips.
"Seriously, you've got a special talent for worrying overmuch." He told me.
"What? No." I said in the same guilty squeaky tone. Brady and the others in the room stared at me.
"What are your all's problems?" I said and looked down.
"We'll get going." Carlisle said and Edward was the first one to vanish from my room. Yep, the majority contains wolves. Then Carlisle too disappeared, I mean they did literally disappear at the vamp speed and finally my room was empty. All the giants had gone except the one I didn't want to go – Brady Fuller.
"So, want anything?" he asked. I won't ask for a candy this time, not even a chocolate because I know he won't let me have it.
"Nope." I popped the 'p'.
"Thinking?" he asked.
"No." I lied. Yeah, of course I am thinking Mr. Fuller. Okay, he is right. I think over much. What's the problem if I don't go to school for a week or two? What's the problem if I can't help the drama club backstage (I can't help on stage. Another phobia – stage fright. Not exactly but I don't like to go in front of a lot of people and act or sing or dance or whatever. It is fine to me until and unless I know all of the ones in the audience. I am a scaredy cat, right?) What's the problem if I can't prove my literary skills? What's the problem if I can't really have fun playing dodge ball and hitting Valerie….wait…not anymore. Forget it, forget it, and forget it.
"I am here. You can talk to me rather than talking to yourself." He taunted.
"You know what Brady, you're right. I shouldn't go to school. What's the problem if I don't go to school for a week or two? What's the problem if I can't help the drama club backstage and get myself some grade points? What's the problem if I can't prove my literary skills? What's the problem if I can't get my Math concepts clear? There's no problem at all. Is it?"
"No, there isn't certainly. I mean look at the bright side." He said.
"I'm not Seth." I replied.
"So, don't even be pessimistic. Let's do something to cheer you up." He said.
"Like what?" I inquired.
"Let's …um…play videogames?" he asked and I shook my head. "So, let's…wait, I know a way. ARIC!" he called and in the same second I saw my baby dog there on the doorway.
"Aric! Baby, I missed you!" I said and he pounced on the bed. Aw! My poor puppy must've missed me.
"You missed me?" I asked. He licked me. My little doggy.
"Who'zz my good boy? Who'zz my good boy? My Aric is. Okay, Aric…" I stopped and looked around. I want to play fetch with him. I spotted a ball on the table. "Go and get it, boy!" I commanded and threw the ball. He got it back and gave it to me. I played with him for almost ten-fifteen minutes when Brady had to interfere.
"Cass, I hope it is enough. You know what doc said." he said. I admit I found that really cute and I know he cares for me but... it is simply not enough.
"Please?" I asked with my puppy dog face.
"Please don't please." He replied with his face turned as the puppy. I have two puppies as I know – Aric and Brady.
"Alright." I said. "Did you give him food these days? Is he okay? I really don't want my dog starving. Did you guys bath him? I hate those lice in his fur. His hair is too beautiful for that. Did you take him to the vet? I had an appointment. Did you see that he didn't mess up his dog house? Did you see that his teeth are okay?"
"Yes, yes and yes." He replied.
"Sure?" I asked.
"Yeah, Rachel did the things." He said. "Except the food thing that I took care of. I checked his fur. It's perfect as you left – gold and silky as you can see. I took him to his regular check. The vet says he's perfect. He isn't messing up with any other dog. I took him for walks along the hospital."
"Couldn't you get him then!?" I replied.
"Cass, dogs ain't allowed in there." He replied.
"Point." I said.
"Aric, food." Rachel called. Aric understands many things as he is a smart dog. He ran down the stairs.
"So, done?" he asked.
"Done what?" I inquired.
"Having fun?"
"Mmm." I shook my head.
"So, what else do you want?"
"I want to meet Megan and Hayley and Sonny and Ashley and Claire and…" I was cut off when I heard Megan's voice: "Hi, Cassie." She said a bit embarrassed.
"Hi." I replied.
"So…how are you feeling?" she asked.
"Okay. I'm okay." I said.
"I should better go." Brady said.
"Yeah, you should." Megan said and Brady went away.
"Sorry." Both of us said to each other together.
"For what?" again at the same time.
"You first." I said.
"No, you first." She said.
"For calling you a bitch and misunderstanding you." I replied.
"Same here. So, back to Messie?" she asked. Yep, Megan and Cassie together made Messie but I loved Messie since forever.
"If you want." I said with a smile.
"So, we're back to normal." She said and hugged me tightly. I just understood that she is a wolf now.
"Megan… I can't breathe." I said.
"Forgot it, again." she said and bit her tongue.
"Wow, these both really look strange together." Aaron said.
"Oh yeah? Do we?" Megan said and ran after her when he slipped out of my room.
"Definitely normal." I told myself.
"Cassie!" this was Hayley's voice that I heard as soon as I laid down. Oh yeah, she was left to see me. I don't know what all she has to give a lecture to me upon.
And there it was. She spent half an hour giving me advice how to remove stress, how to think less and blah, blah, blah. But finally Seth came to my rescue and dragged her away. Finally! I was alone to think. Okay, Brady is right. I cannot keep my mind free.
"Dinner, sweetheart." Rachel called.
"Hey, Rachel." I said.
"No, you can't be doing this. You know I ain't trained yet." I said to my dad who was going to throw a large fireball at me. It was as large as a watermelon and as hot as molten lava.
"I know and this is the reason I'm doing it." he said with a witchy smile on his face.
"Dad, I'll die!" I screamed.
"What else would I…. and Valerie want? Valerie is my one true successor, not you." He said and threw it on me.
"DAAAAAAAAAD!" I screamed. "It is hot. It is killing me!"
"Hey, you okay?" Brady shook me awake.
"He…he was going to kill me!" I replied. I was crying and cold sweat had covered my forehead.
"Calm down. It's okay. He can never even think of touching you." He said and pulled me towards him gently. I sunk my face on his shoulder. My heart was pounding and I was scared but when he was holding me, it felt like everything was going to be alright. I sniffed into his neck while crying. What am I? Nuts? But I admit that it smells really good. My mind is perfectly not working properly. I got away myself.
"Okay now?" he asked and my sight fell to the floor where Aric was on his limbs and there was a pillow and a blanket on the floor.
"Who is using that?" I asked.
"Me." he replied.
"But why?" I inquired.
"I'm not leaving you alone anyway, anytime after what happened when you were alone with Megan. I am supposed to be the one responsible for your safety and I'm not getting out of this room." He retorted.
"I didn't mean that you should go out. I was just saying you should be a bit more comfortable. Your back will hurt if you sleep like that, even though not for long 'cause you're a wolf but still. Why don't you sleep here?" I offered.
"With you? On the bed? Do you want Paul to have my head mounted in the living room?" Aw! That was cute.
"No, he won't do anything after he saw how much you care for me." I replied.
"Alright." He said and stretched his arms. "Actually, you're right. It kinda hurts."
"See, I told you." I said.
"So, good night, I guess." He switched off the lights and I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I nestled into his chest and he wrapped his arm around my waist.
"Good morning." he said, stretching himself as I got away. "You roll a lot on your bed, anyway."
"Good morning." I replied, deliberately ignoring the second comment, like I really don't know that I roll a lot.
"What to do today?" he asked.
"Dance?" I replied. It was basically a joke. I didn't really mean it.
"Like I will?" he said. "No, actually I will if you want."
"Nah, not in the mood." I replied. "But still the question remains, where did the TV come from?"
"From an TV store, duh." He said.
"No but why did you guys have it here, in my room?" I asked.
"If there isn't one, you have a problem, if there is, even then you do." Paul said from the doorway, coming into my room.
"Good point." I said.
AN: And don't forget to tell me how soon you want the next chapter! And how do you feel about it? Good or bad? But I won't stop writing anyway! I am super evil.
