Chpt.38

"Does that require pants?" Lancy inquired and Livy let out a sigh.

"Unless you want to pretend to be a dude with a skirt."

"Okay okay wait. Lemme just get this straight. You want me to cross-dress as a dude while you also cross-dress as a dude and get into some bar, which I am underage to enter and so are you, to find some shady guy who is in charge of some really illegal activity?" Lancy questioned, hands on her hips.

"Yeah pretty much." Livy nodded, and Lancy grinned.

"Sounds like fun. Just a quick question, why isn't your boyfriend doing this with you since you need another guy?" she inquired and Livy sighed.

"Well, Damian along with a lot of other people I know are dealing with some mess in Argentina. And since this bar is in Philadelphia and you are in Philadelphia, I figured that it was a pretty good idea." She informed, but then smirked a bit. "Also, we haven't done something fun together in a while."

"True true." Lancy nodded. "But fun fact, if you wanna sound like a Philadelphian, you call this city Philly. And you like the Phillies and the Iggles, and you hate the Dallas Cowboys." Livy frowned at that.

"But I like the Dallas Cowboys."

"You don't utter that phrase in Philly. Ever." Lancy informed. "If you do, you'll probably be shot."

"Alright. Anything else I gotta know to sound like a native?" Livy inquired, smiling as she listened to Lancy.

"Water is Wooder. It's water ice, not Italian ice. When someone says 'West Philadelphia born and raised', you finish saying, 'on the playground is where I spent most of my days.' And Philly cheese steaks are the best food ever. Oh, and you know what a mummer is."

"What the hell even is this city?"

"It's the city of brotherly love, that's what it is." Lancy smirked. "Now, help me become a dude."

"Wow. Cool make-up job." Lancy nodded. "So, what's my name and what's your name if anyone were to ask?" she inquired and Livy finished printing up the fake .

"You're name Louis Sachar, and my name is Hector Zeroni." Livy informed, handing Lancy the plastic I.D.

"Those name's sound kinda familiar." Lancy mumbled.

"Ever read Holes?" Livy questioned, and Lancy looked at her, clearly perplexed what that had to do with anything.

"I saw the movie." She informed.

"Hehe, yeah." Livy smirked, and Lancy's eyes widened in realization.

"God, you're such a nerd."

"Whatever. Anyway, how do you like your dude look?" Livy inquired, and Lancy smiled as she struck several poses in front of a mirror.

"Love it. I wonder if I can pick up girls this way. Granted, I guess it'd be wrong to lead them on, but maybe I'd find a bisexual." Lancy grinned.

"Well, let's test that out after we're done getting incriminating evidence against a woman-selling-scumbag." Livy stated, and the two were on the streets, heading to the pub.

Livy couldn't help staring at Lancy a bit. She was very attractive as a guy. She wore a short black wig that looked nice with her olive skin tone. The scars from the fire made Lancy look tough and the outfit Livy put together for Lancy also flattered the masculine features on her.

"Like the way I look?" Lancy inquired.

"Well, in all honesty, yeah. I do."

"Heh. If only." Lancy let out a long sigh. "Anyway, this is a pretty cool girls night out thing. We should do it more often."

"What? The take down scumbags kinda thing?"

"Yeah." Lancy chuckled. "I never get to hang out with you while you're on the job anymore. Remember when you used to crash at my apartment in costume, and I'd make you some coffee?" Lancy questioned and Livy nodded at the fond memories.

"Yeah, I remember." Livy smiled. It was always so calming after a night of patrol to head to Lancy's and the girl was always so kind and inviting.

"Here it is." Livy sighed, looking up at the sign.

"Well, let's head in and see what's what." Lancy grinned.

The two strode into the pub. Lancy walked behind Livy and she was mesmerized by how the girl walked.

Livy never made much of it, but she was a fantastic actress, taking on the character she needed to be with ease. She walked like a boy and even had some of the mannerisms of one.

Livy went to order a beer and Lancy followed behind her.

"I'll have a Bud light." Livy stated in her more masculine voice. Lancy also couldn't help but notice that when Livy spoke like a boy, she somehow slipped into a New York accent. She mentally told herself to ask Livy about it later.

"And I'll have a Yuengling." Lancy tried out her masculine voice. It was a tad wonky, but passable. She sounded like she had a cold if anything.

The two got their beverages and sat at the counter.

"Hector, exactly who are we lookin' for?" Lancy inquired, still in her deep voice.

"Calm down Lou. He'll come when he comes." Livy chuckled as she took a swig of the alcohol. Livy didn't enjoy alcohol all too much. If she really wanted to relax, she'd drink wine or something sweet, but she knew that she couldn't order something like that. It'd risk making herself look less masculine.

"You two are waiting for someone?" the bartended inquired.

"What's it to you?" Livy questioned, even though she knew why the bartender was asking. He was the one who took people to the man she was looking for.

"I might be able to get you to who you want to see. What do you want?" the man inquired.

"We want some women." Lancy stated.

"What my friend means to say, is that we would like some companionship." Livy shot a scolding look at Lancy, but they had went over this. Lancy was supposed to come across as incompetent and new at this sort of thing. She was supposed to act foolish, and it was working.

"Then come with me." the bartender grinned. "But it'll cost you some."

"Naturally." Livy smirked. She held her hand out, and Lancy passed her some cash, and she passed the cash onto the man.

The man looked at the cash, then at her, almost skeptically.

However, he tilted his head to the side as he stuffed his pocket with the cash.

"Follow me." Livy and Lancy followed the man to the back, behind a door and entered a low lit room. Lounging in a chair with a woman on his lap was a man who was obviously wealthy, but sleezy looking all the same.

"Ah, Mr. Caito, I've heard a lot about you." Livy nodded.

"All good things, I'm sure." the man smirked. "What can I do for you boys?"

"My poor friend here is still a virgin." Livy frowned, patting Lancy's back. "I heard that you sell women. I was hoping to get my friend one and maybe two for myself."

"That will be fairly expensive." Mr. Cairo stated. "How do you possibly plan on payment?"

"Ever hear of Wayne Enterprises? My father is pretty high up in the chain of command there." Livy smirked. "I can foot the bill very well."

"Well then." The man pulled out a card from his inside pocket and handed it to Livy. "Come to this location next Thursday. You and your friends can pick up some pretty ones." He smirked, then looked at Lancy, who's eyes were on the girl on his lap.

"And for your virgin friend. Give me five grand and I'll give you this beauty." He smirked.

"Good deal." Livy nodded, fishing out the money from her pocket. However, the woman in question of the deal shouted,

"THAT'S IT!" she stood from the man's lap and kicked him in the gut.

"I'm sick and tired of all the shit you put me through!" she continued to attack until the man was black and blue and unconscious. She turned to look at Lancy and Livy, and Livy's eyes widened in realization.

"Wait! Don't attack! Black Canary, right?" Livy let the boy voice fade away and the woman froze.

"It's Little Red. We haven't met, but I heard of you. I'm Red Hood's daughter." She explained.

"And who's he?" Black Canary questioned, eyeing Lancy cautiously.

"She is a friend. We were both undercover trying to find when his next sell would be." Livy explained.

"I was trying to find out the same thing, except I went undercover a bit differently." She let out a long sigh. "You couldn't imagine the kind of shit he put me through and I just had to act like I was already broken." She growled.

"Sorry about busting in. I didn't know someone already had it covered." Livy stated, handing Black Canary the card that Mr. Cairo handed her with the information on it.

"Thank you. And I'll remember your name Little Red. It was nice to meet you, and you too." She nodded at Lancy.

"So… how're we getting out? The bar tender guy knows about this." Lancy stated.

"There's a back door. I'll handle the bartender." Black Canary smirked.

"Thanks. I hope to work with you again. Except maybe in a different situation." Livy smiled, and the older hero smiled back at her.

"Same here, kid." She nodded, and the women separated.

Lancy and Livy walked out the door and down the street, still in their clothes and headed nowhere special.

"Well that was fun." Lancy chuckled.

"That's my life. Except it wasn't a violent as usual. Most times there's some sort of fight that breaks out." Livy shrugged.

"By the way, this is random, but why does your dude voice have a New York accent?" Lancy inquired, and Livy chuckled.

"When I was practicing it, I watched Newsies over and over again and then listened and watched the Broadway performance."

"So I'm taking it that it's a musical?"

"The best one out there! It's so good!" Livy smiled. "Anyway, that's why I get a New York accent when I'm a guy."

Lancy just chuckled as she rolled her eyes.

"You are such a nerd."
