Kevin slammed the front door and stomped angrily into the living room. He ripped his red cap off his red hair and ran a hand through his locks as he paced. He was unaware of the three startled teen sat at the kitchen table. Eddward kept his blue eyes locked on to the redhead, Eddy's chemistry book long forgotten by the dark haired teen.
"FUCKING CHAR" the redhead wailed as he punched the couch in frustration. Eddward, Nazz, and Eddy all looked to one another. none of them had a clue what had the redhead so miffed.
"My Dear turtle dove, what has you so irate?" Eddward's voice filled Kevin's ears like silk and immediately calmed the redhead's wrath. The teen sunk into the couch he had been violent towards. Kevin breathed through his nose and out his mouth. Angry tears formed in the corner of his emerald orbs, so he shut them as tight as they could go. His breathing hitched and his hands sat balled in a fist next to his legs. The redhead felt like a volcano threatening to blow at any moment. Kevin kept his eyes shut even when he felt the couch dip next to him, and arms wrap around his neck. The redhead sighed and threw the upper half of his body on Eddward's lap. His arms snaked around his waist as he let the emotions he was feeling out.
"What's the matter, ma chéri d'amour?" Eddward asked again hoping to get something from the teen a mess in his lap. Eddy and Nazz watched nervously from their seats in the kitchen.
"Fucking Char…" Kevin repeated a sob stuck in his throat. "I spent all god damn summer working my ass off to save for that bike. She knows that." The redhead breathed heavily through his nose. " She knew that. Grand dad and I spent so much time on that bike before he passed. So much fucking time. Char only got that bike cause I get the house. She was gonna give it to her fucking stupid boyfriend till he dumped her." Kevin sighed and relaxed as Eddward slowly ran his fingers through the teens red locks. "She fucking promised she wouldn't sell it to anyone but me. She promised she would wait, and now she's gonna sell it from under me?! She fucking promised. Then she had the gall to tell Brent I need to sell the fucking house so we can split the money. Fuck her." Eddward keep his loving hand running through the teens hair and sighed. "House isn't even mine till Im 18. Just fuck her." Kevin added as he visibly calmed down in the other teens arms. Eddward sighed and shot a look only Eddy would be able to read at the two extra teens in the kitchen. Eddy nodded in understanding at his friends gesture. A plan had formed in Eddward's head, and in order for it to work He needed Kevin gone for a lengthy amount of time. Eddy let the redhead calm a tiny bit more as he planned his speech. And as if cued Eddy and Eddward fell. into sync.
"Man, That -Char was it?- sound like a bitch." Eddy announced to Kevin who still had his face buried in Eddward's warm lap.
"Eddy? Bro, I didn't know you were here man. I'm sorry for the show." The redhead answered.
"It's cool man." Eddy said with a stretch. He was about to answer when the last teen spoke up.
"Dude, Chars always been like that. She only sees money. you know what you need? You need to blow off some steam." Nazz smiled and shrugged when both Eddy and Eddward stared at her in surprise. She had synced up as well. The dark haired teen that sat next to her and mouthed 'I fucking love you' to his girlfriend who smirked in response and mouthed back 'Duh.' Eddward covered his smile with his hand. If he had to chose someone to come into Eddy's life it would be Nazz every time.
"Shovel chin, I got some fireworks I've been saving." Eddy said after a moment. Kevin raised his head in annoyance at the nickname. which was exactly what Eddy wanted. " And I mean the good kind." The con artist said with a raised brow. "Let's go blow up the great outdoors. Do guy shit." Kevin chanced a pleading look at Eddward. HE really wanted to go blow up the great outdoors with Eddy. Eddward wasn't sure why exactly Kevin need his permission but he nodded his approval anyway.
"Asking the ol' wife? Good idea." Eddy stated as he turned to Nazz and ignored the blush he had caused the two boys on the couch. "Nazz, can I go blow shit up with Kevin?" The blonde gave Eddy a smile and pretended to think on it.
"Yes honey just be home in time for dinner. Eddward said he was making something good… since our parents are out of town." Eddy rose his brow and Eddward looked slightly annoyed. The raven haired teen never agreed to that. Nazz was a manipulator and absolutely perfect for Eddy in .
"You guys won't be coming?" Kevin asked as he pulled himself off Eddward's lap.
"Double D promised he would help me with this today." Nazz answered as she held up a half filled Chemistry paper. Kevin nodded and looked to Eddy.
"Guess it's just us Bro!" The redhead was slightly excited. He only had one guy friend and that was Rolf, and currently both he and Ed had gone to some poultry group thing in the city. They had been gone since friday. Ever since Eddy had started dating Nazz the pair were over almost every night. Kevin actually thought it was kinda nice. It seemed that he and Eddy had buried the hatchet so to speak. They had sorta started becoming pals.
"Let's go man!" And with that and a hasty goodbye they left Nazz and Eddward alone in the Barr household. The blonde waited a good 15 minutes before speaking.
"So, what's the plan." Eddward sighed in response. It was time for action to be taken.
Eddward grabbed the list of family numbers from the office and headed to the kitchen. He already had Nazz on the phone with the Benning family. Julia Benning at the moment. She was Eddward's attorney , and as luck would have it she was already downtown Appleton. Where Eddward's bank was. Right now he needed to call Char. It took seconds to find her number. The teen sat in the office chair as he dialed her number putting the phone to his ear Eddward silently prayed she would answer.
"Hello? Charlane speaking." The teen smiled. success!
"Hello Ma'am, I presume your day is enjoyable?" Eddward threw on his sugar sweet voice.
"May I ask who's calling?" The voice on the phone sounded annoyed.
"Sorry for the interruption, but I'm rather interested in the old bike you have." Eddward could hear the voice sigh.
"Look kid, I already got someone coming out tomorrow to buy the thing. He's paying five thousand cash. Unless you can match that today... you're outta luck." The teen smiled. That was exactly what he wanted to hear.
"I'll give you ten thousand cash in less than an hour." Char paused and Eddward prayed she didn't hang up.
"You gotta be shitten me." She didn't sound upset just dumbfounded.
"I assure you I'm not. my lawyer can met you at any location downtown Appleton. Just bring the title." The voice on the phone chuckled.
"Fine, if you're serious have your fancy lawyer met me at the court office." Char sighed "I can be there in about 20 minutes."
"Alright ma'am. I'll let her know." Eddward answered.
"I'm wearing a bright pink sweater your person can't miss me." She added before hanging up. Eddward quickly made his way into the kitchen.
"Tell her ten thousand in 20 minutes at the court office." the teen said slightly rushed to Nazz as he looked through his phones contacts. The blonde repeated what Eddward had said to her over the phone.
"Okay, Thank you. I'll let him know." Nazz said before hanging up. "She says she has the papers ready for Char to sign. Looks like we are making headway." Eddward smiled at Nazz excitedly while he held his phone back to his ear. This time a familiar voice picked up.
" Hey Edd, what do I owe this call?" Eddward smiled. It was nice hearing Brent's voice. "Is this about what Char did?" Brent sounded more than annoyed.
"Well sort of actually. I was hoping you could do me a favor?" Eddward asked hopeful.
"What's that?"
Kevin eyed his uncle's truck and trailer in confusion as he hopped out of Eddy's car.
"I guess my Uncle Brent's here." The teen told Eddy. The brunette grunted his response as he too got out of his car. They walked in silence back to kevin's.
"It smells good in here." Kevin said as he slid into the kitchen. He recognizes that smell. It was his favorite. Eddward stood over a pan with a pair of tongs. Nazz and Brent sat at the kitchen table smiling. "Hey Brent what brings you here?" Kevin asked his uncle as he and Eddy took a seat.
"I was dropping a load off at the old junk yard. I was sorta hoping to see your dad. Then Edd invited me for dinner." the man said with a grin. "You know me, can't say no to dinner. Besides Sam's at some poultry starved if it wasn't for Edd." Kevin chuckled. His uncle was a lousy cook. It didn't stop Brent from trying. He almost burnt the house down twice before Sam cut him off.
"I'm glad you came man." Brent smiled at his nephew.
"Fried chicken? It's my favorite double dork." Kevin said with a smile as his eyes landed on who he was speaking too. "What's the occasion?" Eddward shrugged his shoulders and smiled at Kevin.
"I thought maybe you could use some soul food." Eddward had been right. Kevin had a shitty day. He still managed to have fun with Eddy but his mind was on his bike.
"I need more chicken." Eddward said to the freezer he had open. It was more than apparent to Kevin that the chicken Eddward was looking for wasn't in the kitchen freezer.
"I'll run out to the garage and grab some." Kevin announced as he slid out of his chair.
"l can get it." Eddward said as he watched Kevin walk to the garage door. The small teen smiled. Kevin took the bait.
" Naw D, you're cooking. Stay doing that." and with that the redhead made his way to the garage freezer. He had quickly opened the door and started searching through the gobs of food his mom had stored away before a realization hit Kevin like a ton of bricks. the teen slammed the freezer door and spun around. There she sat next to his dad's bike. Kevin's granddads sky blue 1953 Indian. A sticky note sat strategically placed on the head light. Kevin plucked the note from the old motorcycle and read it out loud.
"Happy late birthday, with love -Double Dork." Kevin stared down at the note before sliding to the ground. If Kevin had his doubts about it before he didn't now. Kevin James Barr was crazy in love with Eddward Marion Vincent. It wasn't the gift that made it so clear. It was the color of the bike. Because right now on the floor all Kevin could think about where thoses eyes.
"The bike matches Edd's eyes." Kevin ran his hands through his hair. Before covering his eyes.
"Sure does." The voice ripped the redhead out of his thoughts.
"Dad?" Kevin looked up at Hank in shock. He hadn't heard him come in. His dad ran a hand across the blue bike and smiled.
"He really did it... It's really her." Hank said proudly. Kevin watched as the man walked around the old girl.
"Man that boy must love you." Kevin's dad said with an even bigger smile. Kevin took a deep breath. He wasn't sure why but he felt his dad needed to know about his feelings for Eddward.
"Dad, you know I'm in love with him right...Edd I mean." Kevin had taking up fidgeting with a price of plastic his hand had found interesting on the floor.
"Ya, I know." Hank answered matter of factly as he kneeled on the ground to look at the exhaust. "Looks like some damage has been done right here."
"Dad, I just told you I love a guy and you're more focused on the bike?" His father lifted his head and dug around in his pocket for his glasses.
"You've been about that boy since he popped out of the moving van across the street." Hank laughed a bit before continuing to look at the bike. "What did Char do to you girl?" Hank sighed before getting back down by the exhaust. "You were about four when you saw Edd for the first time. He was standing in the driveway looking sorta lost, and You pointed at him and told me: 'Daddy I'm gonna marry her.' It was so cute we introduced ourselves to our future in laws." Kevin watched his father with wide eyes.
"I don't remember that!" Hank grinned.
"Son, you were four." His dad had him there. "It was love at first sight for you, you just needed reminded." Kevin sighed and looked to the freezer deep in thought before another realization came to him.
"Shit...Everyone waiting." Kevin sighed out. His dad stood up and wiped his hands on an old rag.
"We better go then." Kevin nodded In agreement before rummaging through the freezer for chicken and heading back inside. Everyone sat silent as Kevin walked back in with his dad. Eddward nervously focused on smashing potatoes into a mush. Kevin smiled and took a seat across from his dad.
"Dad, I'm gonna marry her." Kevin said out loud piercing the silence. Eddward let the breath he had been holding out.
"You like the motorcycle that much? Oh thank lord." Eddward said assuming Kevin had meant the bike. Hank laughed loudly knowing very well his son wasn't remotely talking about the old girl sitting proudly in the garage. The rest of the dinner guest eyed the man in confusion. Hank simply popped a grape in his mouth before answering.
"Better get carving son."
The Barr family sat happy and laughing at the table. Nazz and Eddy and Brent had left an hour ago which gave time for a family game of cards. Susie walked into the kitchen a smile on her face as Tori escorted her hoping for a bit of chicken. Sure enough the pup who was almost waist high got her wish. They both returned to the table. Tori licked her chops and Susie brought two gift bags decorated in yellow teddy bears. She sat next to her husband with a knowing smile.
"I was thinking that You and Eddward should share the big room." Both teens turned Their questioning eyes to Susie. Who in response put one gift bag in front of Kevin and one in front of Eddward. "I got you something for the trouble. Both boys looked to Hank who wore the same confused expression. "Open em." The boys obeyed the woman and tore into the bags. Kevin pulled his out first. A small blue onesie. Then Eddward pulled out the matching pink one. Hank let his mouth fall open.
"How far?" The man asked before the boys could respond. Susie smiled ear to ear.
"I'm almost six weeks." All three smiled.
"This is the best day ever." Kevin said completely flabbergasted.
"Guess we need to plan a move?" Eddward asked Kevin who nodded excitedly. The redhead suddenly frowned as he watched his parents and Edd gush about the baby. Kevin and Eddward were gonna share a room. Sure they had shared a bed, and cuddled, and held hands. But that was before today. Before Kevin was so sure he was in love with the sock head. Nervousness filled the teen.
"Hey, uh...I'm gonna walk Tori around the block." Kevin interrupted while he got up and grabbed her leash. Eddward stood as well.
"I'll go with you." Eddward announced happily. Kevin paused and frowned.
"Would you mind if I went alone? Just need to catch my breath." Eddward wore a hurt expression but quickly replaced it with a smile.
"Of course." The raven teen sat back in his chair and watched as Kevin walked out the door.
"I think if you don't mind I might retire to my room." Eddward announced with a yawn and stretch. Hank and Susie smiled and said their goodnight while the sock head made his way upstairs to his room. The blue eyed teen looked around before frantically pacing. A thought had been forming in his mind for a while now. One that he wasn't quite sure about until today. When Kevin had completely crumbled in his lap. Now the teen was absolutely sure. though he wasn't sure how or when all he knew for sure was that He Eddward Marion Vincent was deeply in love with Kevin James Barr. The small teen sighed and laid on his bed. He wanted to scream, he wanted to walk Tori, wanted to tell someone. Eddward wrestled his hand into his pocket and pulled out his phone. He thumbed through contacts until his thumb landed on Eddy. The teen sucked his bottom lip into his mouth and bit. A sigh escaped his lips. Was it safe? Kevin had been gone for about 5 minutes. Finally his thumb tapped the name. It was now or never. Eddward placed the phone to his ear and waited.
Kevin ran full speed ahead towards Eddy's. His hands banged desperately on the other teens door. He could hear random cursing and movement. Eddy slammed open the door. Sleep decorated his eyes.
"What the fuck bro?" The teen asked half asleep but clearly agitated.
"No, Eddy, listen. My mom's pregnant." Kevin announced clearly unnerved.
"Congratulations." Eddy answered with a yawn.
"No, Eddy, Bro, Listen. I'm going to be sharing a room, A ROOM, with Double D. Like a room...Just Him and I...In a room." Eddy yawned again and rubbed his eyes.
"Congratulations the second act?" Kevin sighed out into Tori's leash and let out a groan.
"No, Eddy, no, like listen man. I'm in love with him." Eddy looked more irritated than anything.
"Ya, and?" The two teens stood in silence. riiiing. "What the fuck act two?" Eddy sighed and looked at his phone. "Speak of the devil." Eddy hit his speaker phone. " Speak." Eddward obeyed.
"I'M DEEPLY, DEVASTATINGLY, DRASTICALLY, IN LOVE WITH KEVIN." Eddy turned off his speaker phone. Kevin keep his mouth shut out of shock. Tori barked having recognised her owner's voice. "Eddy...Was that Tori?" The teen held his phone to his ear and peaked at Kevin who shook his head violently. "Yes, she's outside my house. Looks like He's walking her."
The teen on the other end sighed
"Thank the fucking lords." Eddy couldn't believe his ears.
"Eddward Marion Vincent did you just cuss?" Eddward sighed nervously and Eddy could hear him pacing over the phone.
"Eddy, What do I do?" Eddy sighed. Eddward only reserved cursing for when he was truly desperate.
"Hey give me a second." Eddy quickly put Eddward on hold cutting him off mid rant.
"Why are we not telling him you heard? You love him...He loves you…?" The teen asked confused at the situation he found himself in.
"This is the kid I'm gonna marry, and I don't even know what I'm gonna carve him." Eddy looked around outside desperately trying to grasp what Kevin had said.
"...I'm not following." The teen sighed out.
"I want us to both be ready...I want it to be perfect for him. I want him to know like I know that he's gonna be a Barr." Eddy sighed and leaned against his door.
"You and Nazz are so fucking creepy. She's pretty much planned our wedding completely. Like she told me I'm gonna be her husband or she's gonna murder me." Kevin shrugged his shoulders.
"Will laugh at this at our double weddings?" Eddy glared at Kevin. What had he and Eddward gotten into.
"Your lucky I love Nazz and Double D so fucking much." and with that Eddy took the phone off hold.
"Finally Eddy!" Eddward sounded like he was Seconds from his dark side.
"Let's all go to India. Like we planned." Kevin wanted perfect he was getting perfect, and Eddy was getting a free vacation for his trouble.
"Uh. how exactly does that solve my problem?" Eddy smiled at the bewildered look Kevin was giving him.
"You always say that India is truly the most romantic place on earth, and that people get confused or some shit, because something about Paris and speaking French...I don't know. sometimes I just tune you out when you rant like that." the teen sighed out.
"Wh...fu..you what?" Eddward asked angrily. Eddy quickly interrupted trying to avoid a lecture.
"Let's all go in a group. Put Kevin in India...with you..let's go." The tired teen yawned. "Besides didn't your lawyer tell you to spend more money...like a lot more? Spring Break" Kevin could hear Eddward sighing.
"That's...actually a good idea." Eddy slipped on a triumphant smile.
"Good night D. Love you." Eddy the smile on Eddward's face.
"Ahh, Eddy I lo-." click. the teen would hear about that later. along with some other lectures he had earned. Right now Eddy didn't care.
"Fuck off Kevin... I'm tired." The teen announced as he slipped back into his room.
"Than-" slam. Eddy was done. Nazz waited for him in his bed, and she was much more enticing than Kevin and Eddward's little love thing.
"Eddy? What the fuck dude?" Nazz asked as she watched Eddy drag himself back to the bed.
"Our friends are fucking stupid." Eddy answered as he cuddled up next to his crazy girlfriend. She only groaned in response before drifting off to dreams of her and Eddy.
