FUCKING SLUT
(CASSIE'S POV)
"Woof! Woof! Warruf!" I heard the barks on the top of my head.
"Oh stop it!" I shouted. My cheek was getting wet due to something brushing against my cheek.
"Princess, wake up!" I heard Brady's voice all of a sudden.
"Not again, both of you." I complained.
"Today's a school day. Louie and I are ready and if you're not ready within a few minutes, he and I will leave." he said. I began laughing. That never happens every time he gives me a warning.
"I mean it this time." He replied. I got up from my bed and kissed his cheek.
"Baby, say something you really mean." I said and went towards Marley and hugged him tight, I was pretty happy from last night and hadn't yet taken off the bracelet. "Oh, how's Hazel these days?"
"She's pretty happy. Aaron is taking care of her because he knows if he won't, I will have his head on my wall. And Cynthia is seeing someone these days." He answered. I went to the bathroom, grabbed my brush. Brushing, I took out my clothes and shoes and stuffed my book bag with my things.
"Tha…s…preethy…ooshome…" I said, while brushing. I had meant: that's pretty awesome.
"Okay, I'll get going down to grab some breakfast." He said and Marley and he rushed downstairs. I went in to take a shower and then pulled on a purple sweatshirt and my black skinny jeans with my black converse sneakers. I pulled my hair into a high ponytail with my bangs hanging out on my forehead as usual. I wore my favorite star earrings and rushed down.
"Good morning everybody!" I said loudly, drawing mom's, Rachel's, Louie's, Paul's, Brady's and Marley's attention to me.
"Good morning, honey." Mom replied.
"Morning, sis." Paul replied.
"Someone sure sounds really cheery today." Rachel commented. I looked at the living room clock. There was a lot of time left.
"Where's Max?" I asked.
"Sleeping." Louie answered. I had grabbed the pancakes from his plate and winked my eye at him. He gave me a really bad look as if he was going to kill me some way.
"Don't worry, Louie. You get a chocolate one." mom replied.
"MOM!" I cried.
"Honey, it's your punishment for not being patient." She answered in a stern voice.
"Oh c'mon! You know I am born impatient." I replied.
"Let's go to school." Louie said finally after finishing his pancakes.
Let's just say, the day was bound to be perfect. The pretty sunshine, the cotton-like clouds, everything seemed so pretty. Little girls playing hopscotch, kids skating in the rink and puppies in the park and well, Louie getting mad on his cell phone.
"Dude, be happy for a moment, at least." I told him, smacking his forehead lightly.
"This damn thing's not working." He replied. "I've refreshed the apps almost a thousand times."
Brady and I were holding hands when we reached school and Louie was still mad at his phone. Hayley, Ashley, Seth, Cole and Sonny were there and there was a worried look on their face.
"What's wrong with you guys? Who died?" I asked opening my locker and throwing my bag inside.
"Cassie…you shouldn't have come school today."Hayley said, worried.
"Chill, honey. I'm really happy today." I told her. The bell for the school rang up and Ms. Cooke started clearing the corridor.
"I'll catch up with ya in Chemistry." He said and squeezed my hand.
"'kay." I replied, grabbed my stuff for Algebra 2 and ran into the class. I wasn't really late since Prof. Harrison entered after me. I took my seat at the far end and sat alone in silence. Every now and then, someone or the other from the class would give me a look and it was getting weird. Then, someone threw a paper ball on my face.
"What the…" I muttered and picked it up. I unfolded it and there were two words written.
Fucking slut
What the hell was that? I thought that the note wasn't for me and when I looked up to see my sworn enemy Brenda sitting in front of me and waving her blonde hair on my book, I shut my book tight. Actually, she and I became sworn enemies because she was hitting on Brady and was rude with Hayley so I told her off.
In front of everyone and called her a slut.
I hadn't gotten out of my limit; just said the truth but she began hating me and it was as if I really cared anymore.
"Ouch. Why did you do that, slut?" she whisper-screeched at me.
"Okay 1) It's my book and I can whatever I can with it and 2) why the hell are you calling me a slut?" I asked her.
"The whole school knows that, bitch. What you did to poor Brady." She replied.
"Brenda, do you want to share what you're talking with Cassie to the whole class?" Prof. Harrison asked her. She stood up, flicked her hair again, apologized and sat down. God, if Barbie dolls in those princess movies were pretty mean like her, she would've gotten a role till now.
What does the whole school know? What did I do to Brady? The rest of the hour, I tried to get why the whole class was giving me looks, why did Hayley say that I shouldn't have come to school.
Shit! Do they know about…Shane?
My hands turned cold and sweaty and I began hyperventilating. I didn't know what to do except to run into Brady. The bell rang finally to my good luck. That blonde bitch finally turned to me and said:
"Wow, you're pretty much of a slut, aren't ya?" she asked me.
"Let's talk about this outside." I said as I saw Prof. Harrison trying to hear us. She and her two cronies took the lead as I tried to walk by them. Everyone was giving me looks and it was getting kind of scary. Hayley grabbed my arm and towed me over to the lockers.
"Cassie, you need to hear this. Look…Brenda, she's really-really bad, okay? Now, do something and try to go back home. Now." She replied. I opened my locked and a lot of papers fell out of it. All had a word in common and that was: Slut.
"What…what did she…she do?" I stuttered.
"She posted this on Facebook." She said. She and I went to the girl's room since she said she needed to explain me everything. She gave me her phone after opening Brenda's page named: BRENDA
Oh my god! She had posted the video where Shane kissed me. The phone fell off my hands. I never wanted to see this of everything. He was holding me like….
God, it was just so disgusting to see me like that.
"She posted it this morning and I was so confused and I even tried calling you. Your phone was switched off. I figured out you might have forgotten charging it as usual so I tried Brady but he wasn't picking up and Louie's….it was hung up. You guys were late otherwise we could've gotten you back home. Let's think of something and get you back home now." She replied.
But there was something scarier to this. I never wanted Brady to see this video or he would really…
God, I'm so screwed up!
"What do I do now?" I asked her.
"What class have you got now?" she questioned me.
"It's my history right now." I replied.
"Don't worry then. But we have to find Brady as soon as we can and talk to him about this." she replied. I was hyperventilating by now.
"Don't worry? Hayley, should I not worry about this? The whole school knows what happened that day! Where I wasn't even telling just you guys but now, the whole school who has liked Brenda's page and all those whose friends have, will have seen this video!" I shrieked. I had been crying by now, sitting on the granite slab.
"I know but there's nothing we can do about it now, Cassie." She answered, rubbing my back.
"I should've killed myself that day." I answered.
"Shut up! Everything's gonna be fine soon, okay?" she responded.
"How much I wish." I told her.
"Only if they hadn't cancelled our homeroom, I would've told you about it earlier." She said.
"Not your fault." I replied.
Hayley and I decided to ditch class for the rest of the time. I didn't want to face anyone till the time I talked to Brady. I needed him at the current second but this was school.
The bell finally rung after what seemed like 10 years of silence that I kept. It felt like music to my ears and I, finally went out and inhaled deeply. I didn't know how but Brady was there near my locker, waiting for me and had a worried look on his face. I felt way too relieved after seeing him. I just ran into him and hugged him tight as I cried.
"Cassie, it's okay." He said. "Calm down."
"Brady, it's getting way out of the league. Everyone's calling her a slut." Hayley said.
"But she's not and we know that, don't we?" Brady answered her.
"I wanna go back home." I said, feeling a bit better to be with him.
"You know what? Let's show them that it's not what they think it is." Brady replied to me.
"What do you mean?" I questioned him.
"Trust me." he answered.
To my good luck, Brady and I had the next three classes together and also the lunch. And one left was with Seth so for that, they all planned to keep me with Seth. He was pretty enthusiastic that he had someone to irritate in a silent language class where everyone just nodded or said yes or no. chemistry went pretty well since Brady and I entered together and no one said anything straight to me. They might've been thinking why he and I were still together but…it didn't suck as much as those notes. He and I were sitting together so no one threw anything on my face at least.
Even lunch went pretty well. This was because when Brenda and her cronies passed our table, Ashley 'indeliberately' (pretty deliberately that means), threw her milkshake on Brenda's new top and she grumbled a lot but it was nice to watch that. Everyone was with me at least at our table. Mark came up after a few minutes with Ronnie. Yep, we all called her that now.
"Is everything okay?" Mark asked me.
"Yeah, I guess." I replied.
"But it doesn't seem so." Ronnie said and her tray landed on the table and she shifted Cole away from Meg.
"The video's viral." Hayley told her.
"I know." Mark answered.
"Would you guys stop discussing about it now?" Brady said, all of a sudden in a really annoyed voice.
"Why don't we get her back home?" Mark asked. All of us stared at him. Okay, didn't we know that I had to get back home? Weren't all of us discussing about the same since about a day?
"Seriously?" Ashley asked him.
"What? Why are you all staring at me like that?" Mark said.
"Shut up for some time." Ronnie told him. I laughed. Wow, someone except me knows how to shut Mark up.
"What's your next?" Seth asked me, grabbing my cookie taking a good care that I didn't notice but I did, of course.
"PE." I replied.
"We have it together." Brady replied. So, that was me, Hayley, Louie and Brady together. They had changed our timetables and it was a pretty good one I had this time.
But it turned out that Coach Burns wasn't in a good mood and we had to go about the track four times as a marathon. The track started from the school ground along the woods and back to the starting point. The four of us kept together, Louie was still crazy because his phone wasn't yet working. This is his problem: technology.
"Louie, have you tried deleting over much of stuff?" Hayley asked him.
"Hayley, I have more than ¾ of the memory left." He answered, annoyed.
"I was just trying to help." She replied.
"I know I'm sorry. My phone is driving me crazy because there's nothing I can't make work." He said. "And it's just not working."
"I'll go and get water." I said in between and went to the water cooler that was just at the edge of the woods. When I went there, I was a peculiar foul smell in the air that seemed pretty queer to me at the moment. I just followed the smell into the woods, not knowing where I was going but there I was…
OH MY GOD!
It was a dead body, of a girl. I knew who that was. She was Kelly Thomson from my chemistry class. I stumbled over a rock and I fell near a tree. I had begun hyperventilating. The sight had been really horrible. Her blood was spilt around her body and was on her face. Her lips had turned bluish and she looked really pale. Not the dead pale, but something about it was peculiar. And then I saw what scared the hell out of me. He lurked out of the woods like an animal from the undergrowth. I tried my best to move back but my foot had given up from the stumbling. I think it was a sprain but right now, the scarier part was that Shane was with me in the woods and we were alone.
"Finally, the one I was waiting for. I led you here well, didn't I?" he asked me. I didn't answer or I couldn't answer, to be precise. The sight of him had turned me mentally numb.
"CASSIE?" I heard some voices calling out my name but when you see the scariest thing in front of you that had already turned you numb, you can't say a word. It was like a nightmare where I usually ended up waking up after such kind of an encounter. I shut my eyes tight trying to see if that happens. But when I opened my eyes, Shane had gone and I could see Brady from a distance.
"Oh my god." I now heard Hayley. This was happening just like that day when I had been knocked out of my senses and couldn't understand anything. Coach Burns was with them and so was Louie. I saw Hayley throwing up after going away and Louie rubbed her back.
"Cassie?" Brady tried to get my attention but I staring at Kelly. Had Shane killed her that way? Was he able of this? What if he killed anyone from my family this way?
The next thing I remembered was that I was in the Nurse's office again, lying on the couch. I tried to recollect what had happened. I was scared and still couldn't understand what had been happening.
"Cassie?" I heard a voice and looked in that direction. So, it was Brady.
"Huh?" I asked, wrapping my arms around me. I curled up into a ball but only to realize that my left foot was covered with crepe bandage and it smelled of ointments.
"Are you okay?" Nurse Colleton asked me. I just looked at her, not knowing what to say. "She's really traumatized by what she saw. Cassie, don't be scared like that. It was just a bear attack. The police have looked about the matter."
"No…it's not." I muttered.
"Hmm?" she asked me.
"Nothing." I replied, licking my lips. She gave me a few meds and a glass of water that I was supposed to gulp down. Mom arrived in a while and Brady helped me to walk till the car. He made me sit on the passenger's seat and I laid my head on the window side. Mom and Brady talked but I didn't hear what they said. I felt paranoid, really paranoid. Even a short drive back home seemed scary. I remembered how happy I had been in morning and how bright the day seemed to be. But it had turned dull and so had I. I didn't know why the darkness wasn't passing through. I was falling in this pit and nothing was letting me come out of it. Mom tried to talk to me but I couldn't say anything. She tried to assure me that everything was still fine but I was scared. What if Shane took her away from me?
Mom tried to walk me into the house and so I did. Rachel was pacing about the living room and she turned pale as she saw me. Mom laid me on the couch and I again curled up into a ball, not knowing what was coming next.
"Cassie, honey, you have to talk to me. Please?" mom ran her hand through my loose hair trying to comfort me.
"Mom, he'll take you away from me. He'll take everyone away from me." I blurted.
"No, he won't and he won't be able to touch you. We're all with you." Mom said. I laid my head in her lap and cried till the time I didn't lose my senses.
AN: So, finally Shane pulls off another crack headed gig. Brady goes crazy again and Cassie had a breakdown because of Shane. What if Cassie and Brady get separated?
Oh my god!
Now be good and review?!
