AN: So, Brady was gone and let's see what our dearest Cassie would have been reacting. And thanks to make it to 189 reviews! U guys rock!

PROTECTOR

(CASSIE'S POV)

Wayne wasn't home but Louie was. Louie was as confused as me but both of us didn't utter a word. Both of us paced about the house and ran into each other. But I saw Brady's cell phone that he had forgotten on the coffee table. Can't this guy be a little more careful about his cell phone? Louie and I looked at each other and then the phone, considering what was the best thing to do. He and I looked at each other and both of us got what we were supposed to do.

"Are you thinking what I am?" I asked him.

"Save me from Brady when he comes back and if he knows." He replied.

His phone had a system of auto-recording audio calls. I discovered it the day when I was going through his music and sounds files. I went through what I thought was the last phone call but it was my voice. I checked the one next to it.

"Hello? Who's it?" this was Brady's voice.

"Hey buddy. Didn't recognize me?"I had heard this voice.

"Uh…no?" Brady had replied.

"Hear this..."there was a small pause. "Brady? Brady, honey? Where are you, kiddo?" it was his mom's voice.

"Who the fuck are you?" Brady kept his voice low, even though he was angry.

"Hey, Brady, aren't you kinda too aggressive?" this guy replied. "Let me cut down the suspense. You know, I know you really love your mom but this time you got a pretty hard choice. Get me Cassie, Now!"

"SHANE?" Brady shouted.

"Now, the choice is yours. Mom or girlfriend?"

"Where…where do I have to get Cassie?" Brady asked him.

"School celebration auditorium." Shane replied.

"But isn't there gonna be some security?"

"I'm here with your mom and her mom, Brady. I killed the security."Shane answered.

"You're not gonna do anything to both of them, get that?"

And the call ended. I felt tears stinging my eyes. Brady is really my protector. Louie called my mom and turned it on the speaker.

"Hey, Hi, Diana. Where are you?" he asked. I knew Shane would reply but…

"Hey, Louie. What happened? Why do you sound so hassled?" I was half relieved when mom's answer came. But I knew Brady wasn't safe yet.

"Oh, nothing. Is Brady's mom with you?" Louie asked.

"Yeah, what's wrong? Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, yeah. Awesome. Just…. I wanted to know what is the best thing to do if I 'by mistake' break Cassie's CDs." He changed the topic but right now, I was more focused on how to get to Brady.

"There's no getting out now. She's going to kill you."

"God, you're such a no-help."

"We're coming back home now. I don't know if I can control Cassie but I'll try. We're just getting out of Port Angeles." She said.

"Make them stay back in Port Angeles." I mouthed to Louie.

"Oh, I…uh….was wondering if you guys could get me a t-shirt with 5SOS logo on it. It's her favorite these days and I saw it on that shop… Amy told me. What was the name? Yeah, Little Sun shop. PLEASE?"

"Uh…okay. We're turning back." mom said.

"Bye. Thanks!" Louie said and hung up. Meanwhile, I was freaking out about Brady. We had no time to save Brady.

"I'll call Sam." Louie said and picked up his phone.

"No." I stopped him. "Shane wants me. If he knows, he'll kill Brady. I have to get to him." I told him and went towards the door.

"I'm coming with you."

"Louie, you don't know how dangerous it is!" I shouted.

"Shut up, 'kay? Stop being a Rosa Parks. You can't do everything alone." He put his hands on my arms.

"But…it risks you." I said, breaking in between.

"I don't freaking want to live in a world without my best friends." He said. We grabbed out skateboards and gears and went to a tunnel that Louie had made, which led straight to the school basement.

The basement stairs led straight to the canteen which was a corridor away from the Celebration auditorium. The school had this spare auditorium that it used for dances, competition etc. both of us knew that Shane wouldn't be that crazy to put everything on lease and might have some vampire security himself. It was pretty true and Louie decided to take them till the time I get Brady out and we three run. We saw that there were two vampires in the corridor. Louie created a small earthquake and then got them to the Chemistry Lab while I ran into the Audit. Brady was there, chained to the walls, his t-shirt was torn and so was his jeans and there were scratches on his face while he was there, unconscious.

"Brady?" I shook him.

"Princess?" he questioned, trying to open his eyes. The lights were off in the Auditorium and the only source of light was from the moon outside. "You shouldn't be here…" he coughed. I ran my fingers through his hair. "You don't….get that…"

"Shsh. Don't say anything. We're getting you out." I said, kissing him on his lips. Just in same second, I felt a hard pull and someone thrust me off Brady. My head banged straight into another wall. Shit, that hurt!

"Don't even think of doing that again in your life." It was Shane who held my hair tight in his palm. "You know, you both…are an interesting pair." He said and let me go.

"How did you get his mom's voice?" I asked him, coughing.

"Oh that? You both forgot to lock the house properly after you left." He stopped. "And you might be wondering who helped me. Remember Valerie, that vampire girl you killed? She had a brother who hated you to death. Name's Will. He wanted to kill you but we had a deal. He thinks if he kills Brady in front of you, it'll kill you…I don't need Brady anymore except to show him how much I love you…"

My fists clenched as he came towards me. I felt the same paralyzing sensation as that day. I tried my best to move back but it was in vain.

"Don't! Don't even touch her!" Brady shouted. My eyes searched for Brady but Shane didn't leave that chance. He pulled me up and I felt his concrete lips tracing my cheek down to my neck. I felt it hard to breathe and I knew it wasn't in a good way. I was suffocating to death. It was even worse than that day. Suddenly, I heard the chains breaking and all of a sudden, I saw Brady turning into a wolf but that only caused a few more vampires to come into the Auditorium. My vision was blurring, not that I was really dying but it was making me weak. I saw someone come and pick me up fiercely.

"Will, don't touch her!" I heard Shane shout.

"Shane, that's it. You're the one paralyzing her. I want her to see me tearing Brady apart piece by piece. If that's not possible, I am killing her." He replied to him over my face. Shane sped in and pushed Will away while I fell down again. Now, that hurt A LOT. My forehead was bleeding, I wasn't sure of what I had fallen on. I tried to crawl to the door but Will pulled me back by my leg and threw me against the window. The window pane glass shattered into innumerable pieces as they pierced into my arm. Everyone in the room stared at me. I knew I was to be the dinner of the ten vampires in front of me. But just at the given second, the ground beneath me shook. I tried to muster up my energy to move.

Louie was here….

Another round of howls came and I saw two of the wolves leaping in through the window. Louie came and helped me up to my feet. I saw in front of me and in the air facing me, I saw something coming like a bullet but it was shiny and triangular and made of glass…and it found a way tearing straight into my top and I felt the pain shooting in and spreading through all parts of my body.

"Cassie!" Louie shouted but I had collapsed. Pain spread through my body, hurting the most in my stomach but it wasn't a normal pain. I held the injury and my hands got covered in blood, it was my blood. Louie tried to shake me.

"Don't close your eyes, just don't." he said, running his fingers through my hair. I saw Amy come in through the door while Louie picked me up. There was a battle going on from what I saw through my blurring vision and then, there was a lot of fire and smoke that made it hard to breathe.

"Brady…" I murmured. Everything hurt, even my mouth. The pain was growing even more. Brady galloped towards me and nuzzled his mouth my hand. I beamed at him, if that was possible and then, I felt his large teardrop falling on my hand. Louie picked me up and it hurt even more.

"Talk to me…say something." Louie tried shaking me.

"It…hurts…" I could say when he put me down on the ground. Something happened as if air was turning into a person in front of us and pushed Louie away. I tried to move and open my eyes better, only to realize that the chandelier above me fell straight on me….

I guess that was my end.

(BRADY'S POV)

Amy had pushed Louie away but couldn't get Cassie out of the way neither could I do anything. I am so useless but I know this time I will not lose her. I just won't. She would be okay. Right now, we were rushing her to the hospital while Wayne called Carlisle too. We were in Wayne's car as I was holding her on the back seat. There was a large piece of glass stuck in her stomach and small pieces in her arm and it had hurt her forehead. I was holding that girl to me as she wasn't responding. I didn't know what to do. We pulled up in front of the hospital as Wayne went in and got us a stretcher. I laid her on it as they got her inside. I kept holding her hand till the time they took her in the OT. When I lost her sight, I saw the blood covered bracelet that she was still wearing. I remembered my promise to her.

I solemnly promise you, that I, Brady Nicholas Fuller, will be by your side, in good times and bad, will look after you, no matter what. I will have your back even when the world gives up on you. Make you smile, whenever you cry, protect you and love you till the last breath of my life. I will love you every second of my life and make you feel loved like no one else

But I failed; I just failed to save my imprint. This time, she had saved me. If she hadn't come, Shane would've killed me. I now knew I had always underestimated her. The kind of will power this girl had was way above than anything. I couldn't see anything inside which was driving me crazy. Even though, Embry, Jake and I had killed Shane, Will and those other vampires, it didn't save my Cassie. Wayne and Carlisle weren't coming out, which was driving me crazy. My life was being driven away from me. Someone was taking my soul away from me.

"Brady, Cassie needs you, now." I heard someone behind me say. It was Wayne. I ran in, after pushing him aside. There were two monitor by her side and her right arm and forehead covered in bandages. There were pins in her left arm and her body while she was covered with a hospital robe.

"Cassie, please talk to me. Please forgive me." I said, brushing her hair with my fingers.

No reply…

"Trust me; I won't let anything happen to you this time." I replied. "I promise."

Again, no reply…

"Please?"

"She was murmuring your name a while ago." Carlisle said. The beeping sound all of a sudden turned into a long beep and that scared me.

"Cassie, please don't leave me…" I felt tears stinging my eyes. "I need you 'cause I really-really love you. I'm sorry it's because of me but… I'm sorry that I'm so stupid and careless but just don't go away from me. It will kill me and…I need you to be with me each second of my life like my air, Cass."

"Brown-Brownie?" she muttered. I really love it when she calls me that.

"Promise you're not going anywhere?" I held her hand and she tightened her grip so as to say yes.

(CASSIE'S POV)

I wanted Brady…anyway and anyhow. Right now, being without him was scaring me even though I was half unconscious. I felt like if he wasn't with me, I would die but it wasn't long till I discovered that I was breaking into oblivion. It was just as if one of my feet was in this world while the second one was at the other side. I wanted to see Brady, even if it was the last time. I felt as if Brady was sitting beside me and holding my hand and I remembered a few words we had shared. Or to be precise he had said to me.

"Look here, you don't need to be sorry. I have to be because it was my fault. I mean…I am your protector and I should've been there to save you but I just was so careless. Listen to me now, Cass. I love you too and no one…I repeat NO ONE, can change anything that we share. This will never change anything between me and you because I knew you were always loyal to me. Yeah, it hurt me when I came to know he kissed you and I couldn't do anything, but nothing except one thing you did hurt me which was that you kept it to yourself and never told me what had happened. You were never wrong, I know and you didn't want me to overreact like I did last evening about which I am sorry."

I felt complete to go. I thought it was time.

"Cassie, please talk to me. Please forgive me." he said. His voice sounded so comforting but I couldn't reply.

"Trust me, I won't let anything happen to you this time." he added. "I promise." I remembered what mom had said:

"Sweetie, you have to trust him. If this guy got himself in danger because of you, I know he's a great guy. In today's world, who does that? He loves you more than you can understand and will always save you like this, no matter what happens."

"Please?"

"Cassie, it's nothing like that. It's never your fault, okay? This Halloween thing, forget it. Shane screwed up, before that Louie and your grandma screwed up and the first time, I screwed up. Even though, I pretty much miss that badass Faith. She was pretty hot, ya know. But it was you, when you troubled me a lot and I loved it. And you should stop worrying that much. Now, I'll let you alone for a while and when I return, I want a smile on your face and mind it, I demand that smile."

"She was murmuring your name a while ago." Carlisle said.

"I wanna be yours, forever."

"Baby, you are mine. A little more than forever."

I could now hear his voice breaking as if sobbing. "Cassie, please don't leave me…" "I need you 'cause I really-really love you. I'm sorry it's because of me but… I'm sorry that I'm so stupid and careless but just don't go away from me. It will kill me and…I need you to be with me each second of my life like my air, Cass."

"I solemnly promise you, that I, Brady Nicholas Fuller, will be by your side, in good times and bad, will look after you, no matter what. I will have your back even when the world gives up on you. Make you smile, whenever you cry, protect you and love you till the last breath of my life. I will love you every second of my life and make you feel loved like no one else."

"Brown-Brownie?" I tried to say.

"Promise you're not going anywhere?" he held my hand and I tightened my grip so as to say yes.
