INTERVIEWS

EIGHT YEARS LATER…

(CASSIE'S POV)

I was currently sitting with my flat mate- Natalie and we were deciding upon what to do and how should I mould the conversation. I am living in Manhattan…alone and my architectural studies are almost over and it's time I take a large decision….If I want to go back to La Push after joining SDS builders (who are good payers) or INSC in UK (who are better payers). The whole point of my confusion is that how should I tell Brady. I mean he's going to be happy but a part of me doesn't want to go because he and I aren't engaged properly yet and…I know he won't cheat on me of course because he's imprinted on me but the point is: I want to be married. It's been almost four times that I have been the maid-of-honor and even though the bouquet ends up with me, I am not yet married. Sometimes, I wonder if he's ever going to propose me properly or I would have to do it. I mean Seth and Hayley, Meg and Cole, and…almost everyone's over and out except maybe, Dave, Ken and Kyle who haven't imprinted but Brady has imprinted on me. Why doesn't he get it?

"Nate, INSC IS GIVING ME AN OPPORTUNITY!" I squealed as I opened the envelope. Natalie, my friend here, is a doctor (I mean she's almost over with studies just as I am). She belongs to Texas. We met the day I came here in a café. She's too here for studies and both of us were looking for rented apartments. Sometimes, I wonder why I only end up with doctors. I mean, considering Wayne and Amy are doctors now. As far as everyone else is considered: Hayley got into interior decoration, Seth got into a bank, Meg got into the public sector and everyone ended somewhere nice. Dave got into Aeronautics and Brady; he's an engineer. The dude earns really well these days. So coming back:

"OH MY GOD! CASSIE! THIS IS HUGE!" she shrieked.

"I know…I know but it's up to me now. They've called me in the office tomorrow 12 p.m. I don't know what to do." I answered. "It's a 5 year program, you know."

"So? Say yes and…" she made an airplane flying with her hand. "…leave for UK, honey."

"I know it's a big deal but…"

"What about Brady?" she filled my sentence. "God, we've got Skype and video calls. Why do you worry? Besides, you guys haven't even had sex yet. So, you don't miss him that much."

"SHIT! NATE!" I screamed. Telling her this has been the biggest mistake of my life.

"Sorry, no need to get touchy." She answered.

The Present situation…

"You want him to propose you or not?" she asked me.

"Of course I do but if say yes to INSC, there's no coming back for 5 years, Nate. Besides, Brady hasn't proposed me yet. So, I think I should say yes to INSC." I replied. "I mean what's the hurry to get married of course?"

Oh really?

Shut up.

"Look here and say that Cassidy Diana Lahote?" she said. God, she's using the same trick as my mom.

"I'm calling Brady." I replied and called Brady.

"Put it on speaker."

After a familiar ring, he finally picked up.

"Hi, baby." He said in a really cute voice. Nate asked me to shut up and replied to it.

"Uh…hi, Brady." She said. I was going to laugh like crazy now.

"Nate, seriously. You're not pulling this off again. Where's Cassie?"

"I'm here. I'm here." I replied, laughing. Brady had known Nate because when he came to meet me, Nate would be usually with me and she loved to pull Brady. She had never had a boyfriend. She said she wasn't a 'that' type of a girl. Actually, a guy she was in love with broke her heart in the first week. She hates being in love but she says when she sees me and Brady, she feels that we both are lucky. Well, I am lucky to be an imprint of such a caring wolf who hasn't yet proposed me. We're not even engaged.

"So, what's up?" Brady asked.

"Nothing much. Missing me?"

"Like crazy." He answered. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

"God, shut down the speaker. You guys are going to make me a diabetic." She said and stormed off into her bedroom. It was around 11 anyway.

"So, she's gone?" Brady asked me.

"Yep. She's going to her dreamland. Oh, I got good news."

"Me too. You first." He replied.

"Okay, so INSC called me. The same building company from UK and guess what? They are giving me an offer for internship and I have to go meet the selection committee tomorrow at 12."

"Isn't that great?" he asked, excited.

"Yeah, it's a five year program and I'll be staying in UK for five years but I can consider SDS too. They're giving me a job near La Push but it's a bit less earning."

"Weren't you talking about SDS a few days ago? It's also a big break, right?"

"Yeah but Brady, it's INSC. I mean…this is a one time opportunity and I don't think there's a reason to say no except when I get a great shock. I mean something big enough to change my life." I muttered without thinking.

"Oh…"

"Hey, you were saying you too had good news." I said, changing the topic. I had senses that this wasn't really good news to him.

"Hayley's pregnant." He told me.

"Oh my god! WHAT?" I shrieked.

"Yeah, she's too down with Meg." He replied. Meg gave the news last week.

"Aw! I won't be able to come back to meet her, now. Shit." I muttered.

"What do you mean?"He asked.

"Well, if I accept, I leave this weekend." I answered.

"Uh…okay. I'll talk to you later." He said and hung up. God, wasn't that rude?

Anyway, I went to sleep with my teddy bear. I know I am a grown up girl but I usually do this when I'm mad at Brady. It is actually the same teddy he won me. Why can't he be happy for me? I played with my charm bracelet. In about five minutes, I was in my dreamland.

"Cassie, how long were you up talking to Brady?" I heard Nate's shrill voice on the top of my head.

"Jeez, let me sleep." I replied.

"It's 9 am! Wake up!" she shouted. Oh god, I had to go to SDS and INSC office today. So, first of all we both went to her training centre and I waited till she was free. Till that time, I had been texting Hayley who was pretty happy about her being pregnant. The doctor said she was due in February and Meg was due in last weeks of January. It didn't take long to turn 10:30. Finally, we took a cab to SDS office.

"So, are you gonna accept SDS or not?" she asked me sitting in the cab by my side.

"Look, Nate, SDS is like…a big break. I know INSC pays well but SDS will double me up after a year, I mean straight promotion." I replied. "And INSC is giving me the same amount from the first year."

"God, can you give me a straight answer?" she asked.

"Fine! I don't know. I'll first go and meet up INSC." I replied. "I mean I'll see if I'm convinced by them. You know, if I join SDS, I can go back home and live there."

"I know…you miss them, right?" she asked, getting me.

"I really do. I mean Hayley and Megan, my two best friends are going to have their kids and I won't be able to meet them." I said.

"So, let's go and meet SDS." She replied.

We went to the office and my interview went really well. It wasn't exactly an interview but yeah…I was then given a form to fill as to where I was supposed to go and I knew what I was going to fill in my first preference – La Push but there was still time. I had to go to INSC yet.

Right now, I was debating myself upon what to say; what to do with the given situation. Nate and I were sitting in the hallway of the building. It was pretty posh but there wasn't much difference in the two buildings. God, now this was getting confusing.

"Cassidy Lahote? The board would like to meet you." The receptionist told me.

"Wish me luck." I asked.

"All the best." She said and hit me on my back. She considers it pretty lucky for me but ow, that hurt.

They took about 3 minutes to settle up and everyone had a British accent, not in a swaggering way but it was okay but not the accent I was used to. I know they were talking in modern English language but somehow that led me to think of my life which could be in London for the next five years. Suddenly, the door opened wide and standing in the doorway was…

BRADY?!

MY BRADY?!

"Well, gentleman, May I know what you're here for?" one of the board members said. I stared at him.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm here to talk to her. Cassie, I need to talk to you, NOW!" he replied to him. He seemed pretty exhausted and as if something was wrong. I stood up. All I had in my head was: WHY ARE YOU HERE?!

(BRADY'S POV)

I went to her apartment which was locked. Oh great! My imprint will be leaving for UK and I won't even be able to see her for the last time. I mean not the last time, but still…

I decided to call her which was switched off. Wonder when will this girl learn to charge her cell phone? So, I called Nate in a hurry. I had come all the way from La Push on foot or my wolf paws as someone can say. I reached at the mainland at about 10 after leaving La Push at 3 in the morning: and then on a cab down here to Manhattan. I should've taken a flight to here.

"Hello?" she picked up.

"Nate, hi, where are you?" I asked in a hurry.

"I'm fine; how're you Brady?" she replied, sarcastically.

"Cut it off right now. I'm dealing with a life crisis and you need to tell me where Cassie is."

"Dude, you seem pretty despo. She and I are in the INSC office."

"Where is it?"

"What's wrong with you?"

"I'm in Manhattan."

"WHAT?!"

"And standing in front of your apartment which is apparently locked."

"AND WHY?!"

"Just give me the damn address. I'll tell you everything once I get in a cab."

So, she gave me the address and I took a cab down to the office as I explained her everything that happened last night…

AFTER THE PHONE CONVERSATION B/W CASSIE AND ME

"So?" Cole asked me. I was currently at his place.

"So, what?" I replied back, frustrated. I had just attended her phone stating that she was leaving for UK because it was a big break for her but she hadn't thought about me! I mean c'mon! I have waited for her for about six years now but she's not coming back. She's going to UK for another five years. Isn't that just so great? Anyone noted the sarcasm?

"You seem off." He replied.

"Cassie's going to UK for another 5 years. Internship kinda thing." I answered.

"WHAT?! But weren't you going to propose her?" Meg came out of the kitchen and shouted.

"I know…but she's way too happy about this. I can't ruin this." I replied.

"Oh, please. I know her. Did she sound happy about it?"

"She sounded confused between SDS and INSC." I told her.

"She might've said something else." She said, in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Yeah, she did. She said she would say no to INSC if something happened that could change her life…." I thought about this. "CHANGE HER LIFE? That is it, Meg! You're a genius!"

"I know, I'm a genius. No need to tell Me." she replied.

So, that was it! I grabbed my car keys and drove straight to Port Angeles. Yeah, it took a while but it wasn't as late as it was in New York considering what distance was separating us. I went into a Tiffany's outlet knowing what I was doing was the right thing to do.

END OF THE GIVEN FLASHBACK….

"I'm here, I think." I said as I saw a large building. There was a large logo overhead too that said: INSC. I didn't read further but went in. I told her everything giving editing of my own.

"Where are you?" she asked over the phone.

"I'm here. On the ground floor." I answered.

"Okay, come to the fourth floor. I'm in the main hallway and Cassie's in the conference room with the board of selectors." She told me. I reached for the elevators but they were occupied. Someone do tell me why do they install elevators if they're supposed to be full all the time. I took the stairs and ran up. I saw Natalie sitting on a large comfortable couch.

"Hey!" she waved excited.

"Hi! Where's she?" I asked her, gasping for breath. I'm going to sleep for the next ten hours holding my imprint after I pull this thing.

"In the conference room." She pointed to a large door. I took no notice of what that girl over the reception said to me and pushed my way inside as the security guard tried his best to pull me back.

"Well, gentleman, May I know what you're here for?" one of the board members said. I knew I had to give an answer now while Cassie stared at me, bewildered. She gave me a why-are-you-here look and was red in anger.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm here to talk to her. Cassie, I need to talk to you, NOW!" I replied to him. She stood up.

"It won't take long, I believe." Cassie said to them coming towards me. I swear her face had gone so red that she could kill me now. "Why're you here?" she whisper-shouted at me.

"You might let him go, Harris." Another female board member said. I went down on my right knee while she got confused or… weirded.

"I know it's not the right time to tell you this but I really love you, Cassidy Lahote and the time we've spent together, I want it to go on forever. I want to scream at my kids with you, and grow older with you." I took out the Tiffany's box. "Will you marry me?"

You never saw the color of someone's face turn from red to pink that quick. The pink suggested she was blushing. She nodded, smiling an embarrassed smile as I knew she couldn't say anything. I grabbed her hand and made her wear the ring.

"Now, leave!" she said, the color of her face changing back to the angry red. I got up and went towards the door. The girl was pretty mad at me. I just ruined her internship interview. Natalie was standing and watching everything. When the door was shut once again and I came out; she began laughing like a mad woman.

"WHAT?!" I asked, sulking.

"Nothing. Just that you were so cute and she blew you off." She laughed.

"No, she didn't. I know she's probably going to kill me when she comes out but…at least we're gonna be together."

"Aww." She said, ruffling my hair. "You seem pretty tired. Took the night flight here?" she asked me. I nodded. My night flight began with me turning into a wolf at 2 in the morning and running up to the mainland and then taking a cab up here. I hadn't slept the whole night anyway.

Each second that ticked off seemed to drive me restless. Was Cassie going? Was this a large enough shock to change her life after we have been together for the last nine years of our lives? Did I do it over the top? Was she going to hate me? What if she didn't like the ring?

Darn it!

"Don't worry. She's going to be okay. I mean yeah, you'd have to control her your way but she'll be okay." She said.

"You're not helping." I answered.

"I'm not even good at it." She answered, still laughing.

"It wasn't that funny." I countered.

A little later, Cassie came out of the conference room. She was the same girl I had imprinted on nine years ago yet changed. Her blue eyes shone brightly at me and her brown curls bounced with her steps. God, I was so in love with that girl. I stood up for being roasted but it didn't matter. She was my fiancée now. I loved this world now. I had thought she would come and start shouting on me but instead she hugged me tight. She was really happy.

"So, I pulled it off right?" I asked her.

"Let's leave, guys." She said to me and Nate.

So, we left for their apartment. Nate left in a cab while I decided to make it a bit romantic.

(CASSIE'S POV)

So, Nate left in the cab while Brady decided some private time for us. He's getting pretty intelligent. What we took was a horse carriage down to my apartment.

"So…you leaving for UK?" he asked me. His tone suggested he was pretty off.

"So, this was supposed to stop me from going?" I asked him, pointing to my ring. It was a platinum band with two small diamonds on the sides. It was beautiful. Really beautiful.

"Uh…What?" he replied in a squeaky tone. He was lying, of course. This was a way to stop me. "Let's talk about something else. You liked the surprise?"

"I said 'no' to INSC." I answered.

"God, I love you!" he said, excited.

"Brownie, seriously?" I asked.

"Ok…ok. Let's talk about something else."

"So, how all out of the blue, how did you have the idea to propose me?" I questioned.

"Uh…I thought about our conversation last night." He stuttered. "And if I had to keep you with me, I had to do something that changes your life and…"

"I so knew that!" I snapped.

"Look, the point is…you don't know how I've lived the last six years. You come in vacations for what? 15 days? I came here to visit you every second month for what? 5 days each. It was actually killing me. I mean another 5 years away from you? What did you want? Me-dead?" he asked.

"Aw, aren't you really cute?" I said.

"Now, you know, Nate's not here. You could reward me for cuteness." He said. I totally got it and that is how we ended up making out in bright sunlight for about three blocks. If Nate had been here, it wouldn't even have lasted me two seconds because of her 'ew' noises.

So, next morning I received two mails: one electronic while the other was old fashioned-paper. I checked the paper first because usually paper gets happiness and there it was. Exactly what I…not to mention Brady too (more than me) wanted.

"What's that?" Brady asked me, coming from inside pretty sleepy. I never get why this guy loves to sink his face in my hair when he's sleepy.

"Open your eyes and read it." I said and elbowed him in the stomach.

"Ow, that hurt." He said still sleepily. But the sleepiness didn't last long because as he saw the words: 'Branch near La Push' on the mail, he grabbed the mail and read it in less than three seconds. He was so happy that he could actually shoot off from the floor and reach outer space.

I really love him.

Nate was going to stay here and move back to Austin in a month but I was packing up with Brady and I was ready to leave in a week. I knew I would miss her because she had been my support system here and she meant a lot to me. We promised to meet each other after a few months again but to stay in touch every day. The week passed sooner than I could imagine and it was time Brady and I left to go back home.

Bye New York City and Manhattan Island!

I'm back La Push!

AN: So, our abnormal couple Brady and Cassie are happily engaged... Let's see what fortune has in store for them.
