Alec POV

The portal leads us to the back of the institute. I look around, making sure everyone is here, then I look down at my arms. A baby, I'm holding a baby. My mind drifts to Justin. Is this what he wanted? Is this his baby, or maybe even his sister? "Alec, you coming?" I look up and see Jace looking at me expectantly. Everyone is walking toward the front door.

I look down at the baby in my arms and nod at Jace before following them into the institute. "Robert!" I hear my mother scream when we walk into the library. She gives him a hug, "I'm glad you're okay." Jace raises his eyebrows at her and she shrugs, "Just because we aren't together doesn't mean that I don't care about him." She pushes him toward the door, "Go to the infirmary. You need to be checked out, I already called someone and she's probably in there waiting for you."

Robert stares at the baby in my arms, almost as if he is debating something in his head. He eventually nods, saying he'll see us later, and then heads to the infirmary. My mom looks over all of us but does a double take when she sees me. "Is that...?" I walk toward her, "A baby. I found her at locked in a room right before the building Damien was hiding in collapsed."

She gasped, "Do you know why she was there? Where's Damien? Did you encounter his creature? Where are the other shadowhunters?" She threw question after question at me. Jace stepped up, "Damien was probably experimenting on her. He's dead. We did not. They're all dead." My mother nodded, "Okay. I'm going to call The Clave and tell them everything. Isabelle, come with me." Izzy nodded and they turned to walk out.

"Wait, don't tell them about the baby." My mom stopped and everyone turned to look at me, eyebrows raised. "And why not? If that child was with Damien it's possible she's not even human!" I shook my head, "It's a baby mom. If they find out they'll probably have her killed. You know they don't accept things they don't know about or understand." Magnus out his hand on my shoulder, both of my hands were occupied. "Listen to him. He knows what he's doing." Jace said, Simon nodding. My mom sighed and squeezed her nose, putting her head down. She thought about it for a minute then looked back up at me, "Okay. I'll give you two days. Two days Alexander, no more."

She held up two fingers to emphasize her point. Two days wasn't a lot, but I'll take what I can get. "Thanks." I then walked out and went to my room. I placed the sleeping baby on the bed and surrounded her with pillows. When I was sure she would be fine I lay out on the bed next to her. Suddenly my body ached, all the adrenaline had left my body. I was exhausted and in pain. It wasn't unbearable, but it still hurt. I heard a knock at the door, "Come in." The door opens and in a matter of seconds hands are hovering over me. The blue light shining from them tells me who it is. When Magnus is done healing me he kneels down on the side of my bad, taking my hand in his, "Thank you. I don't know how you do it." He smiles, "Do what?" I turn my body towards him, "You always know what I need. You know when to make me talk, when to leave me by myself, or when to just hold me."

I lean forward and kiss him. Both of his hands come up to hold my face, pulling me closer to him. He bit my bottom lip, making me moan. I pulled away, slightly breathless, and laughed. "There's a baby in here." Magnus smirked, "There isn't one in the bathroom." I laughed again, "No Magnus." He pouted, "I can make the room soundproof. No one will hear you." He came closer to my face with each word, then bit my ear. "What makes you think I'll be the one screaming?" I say, trying to distract him.

He pulls back, "Alexander-" A knock at the door interrupts him. He groans and his head falls onto my shoulder. "Come in." I say, laughing at Magnus' reaction. Jace and Clary walk into my room. "I just wanted to see the baby." Clary says, detaching herself from Jace's arm. She walks toward the bed and looks the baby over. I look over and see that she's woken up already and is in Clary's arms.

"Did we interrupt something?" Jace asks, smirking. Magnus lifts his head and glares at him, "I see a room full of ducks and a locked door in your future." Clary and I burst into laughter, but Jace doesn't find anything funny. "That's not something to joke about Bane." He then walks over and sits in the bed, leaning back in my headboard. "What do you think he did to her?" Clary asks, still holding the baby.

"She looks normal. With the description Magnus gave of the guy from all that time ago I'm assuming she'd look different. I mean, you can't have all those different species mixing together inside of you and still look normal, maybe he didn't get to inject her with the blood yet." Jace offered his opinion. "Maybe." Clary said.

When Jace and Clary left it was just Magnus and I in the room with the baby. Mom had brought in something she could sleep in that she had stored away from when Max was a kid. "How was it decided that she would stay in here?" Magnus asked, putting his head under my mine. I shrugged, "I don't know. I just walked in here since this used to be my room. No one objected." He nodded, "I miss our bed." I laughed, pulling him closer to me. "Wells be back at the apartment soon. I just want to know what happens to her. I wanna make sure she's okay." I kiss his hair, "Sleep. I'm exhausted."

He pulls the cover up over us and soon we're both asleep.

I felt a cold breeze and jolted awake. I looked around and saw the window was open. I didn't leave it open. I reach over and grabbed my seraph blade that I leave on the dresser. I slowly inched away from Magnus, getting out of the bed silently. When I reached over and turned on the lamp the light from it filled the room. I saw a body standing over the baby and reacted immediately, throwing my seraph blade at it.

The person didn't even turn around, but the blade stopped in midair just as it was about to hit their back. They chuckled, "I thought we went through this already Alec." The person turned around and grabbed the blade, walking over and handing it to me. "Justin?! I almost killed you!" He laughed quietly, "No, no you didn't. You weren't even close."

I snatch the blade from him, "I would have paralyzed you." He walked back over to the baby, shaking his head. "Thank you." He said out of nowhere. I walked toward them, "Is she what you wanted me to find?" He didn't speak, but he did nod his head. "Who is she to you?" He turned from the baby and looked at me, "She's-"Before he could continue a blue ball of fire hit him right in the chest, throwing him up against the wall. "Justin!" I look behind me to see Magnus, both hands holding balls of fire and glaring at Justin. "What was that for?!" I asked him.

"Get behind me. Now." I gave him a confused look, "What are you talking about? Why?" Justin groaned and I went to help him up. "Good to see you too." Justin said. Magnus grinded his teeth together, "Alexander, move. Now." I've never seen Magnus this angry, it was actually scaring me. I slowly walked toward him, leaving Justin to lean on the wall. "Mags, what's going on?" I asked.

He pulled me behind him, "That's Vladimir." I quickly looked back over at Justin, then back to Magnus. "Magnus, that's Justin. The guy who told me where my dad was." The information seemed to anger Magnus even more. "What do you want from us?! Are you here for revenge?! I will kill you before you lay a finger on him, or anyone here." I was about to say something but Justin spoke first, "I'm not here to hurt anyone. I just want to make sure she's okay."

I stepped up from behind Magnus, "Wait, you know him?" I asked Justin. He sighed, putting his head against the wall. "I didn't want you to find out like this." I gripped the seraph blade in my hand, "Find out what? What aren't you telling me?" He looked at me as if this caused him pain, "Magnus is telling the truth. My original name is Vladimir, I'm Damien Bellewood's monster."

Did anyone suspect Justin was Vladimir?
