Lyna watched at the sun got lower in the sky, the sun washed a mixture of red, orange and gold, she remembers Paivel tell her stories of great battles and how Elgar'nan would let the sun burn bright announcing the coming destruction. She was always told to pray to Mythal for protection when the sky was stained. She took a deep breath as she stood watching the sun slowly sink as she whispered a prayer.

"Mythal an etha emma Aravel." She sighed before looking up to the dying sun that had almost disappeared in to the horizon before she said another prayer. "Elgar'nan tu emma mi sulena in Harel'len lin."

Just as the last light disappeared the call came that there was movement on the main road from the castle. Lyna and her wolf quickly ran to meet Sten, Morrigan and Leliana at the top of the hill leaving the others to stand guard at the Chantry.

They found them standing with a handful of archers and knights and two of the knights from Highever as they readied waiting for the first corpse to appear. Although Lyna had been warned about how horrid the creatures where, nothing she thing could have prepared her for the shocking sight and smell of decayed flesh and rotted cloth. The archers quickly began firing as the knights attacked anything that tried to come within a blades distance of the archers. Morrigan cast bolts, staying away from casting any spell that would light the lantern oil too early. The stream of walking corpses grew thicker and more seemed to pour down the road way.

"It's time!" she shouted, Morrigan simply nodded before letting lose a torrent of fire setting the road alight. There was a bone chilling screech that rang out from within the fire, as a few managed to break through the wall of flames and charge at them. A few more made it through as the fire began to die down and although they didn't stop, the number streaming through had lessened.

"They've started coming across the lake!" Lyna turned to see the young man Tomas shout as he ran up to the hill. Lyna swore as she fired her arrow in to the head of a corpse that was heading for one of the knights.

She quickly looked to the other members of her party. "I'm going to head down to the Chantry. Morrigan get rid of as many as you can before they reach here, Leliana cover Morrigan as she casts, and Sten," Sten quickly used his foot to push off the crumbling remains of a corpse before her turned to her. "Smash." She said simple nodded when he grunted and half smiled before turning to charge and split another one in two.

Lyna quickly took off down the hill, her wolf close at her heels, when they reached the Chantry she quickly took her blade and jumped in to the fray. She ducked low as she charged in slicing at the legs of a corpse before quickly turning to drive her blade in to the gut of another using the leverage to twist behind it before using it's shield to block an attack, darting forward stabbing the creatures throat and throwing the other to knock one of the new comers off balance before it could attacked another militia from behind. From the corner of her eye she could see the blur of grey fur as fangs tore at rotted flesh.

She quickly glanced round for her fellow wardens, Neria stood at the top of the steps of the Chantry, throwing lighting and ice in-between casting healing and defence spells her Mabari crouched beside her, ready to attack any threat that came too close. Alistair stood in the thick of the fight, using the edge of his shield as a second blade as he drove the point in to a corpse's neck while deflecting the blow of another with his sword before kicking it to the ground. She pulled her bow out and sent an arrow to the head of one that was about to deal a killing blow to one of the militia before joining Neria where she stood.

A loud crash echoed through the throngs of fighting bodies and a shout call out across the courtyard. "They've broken through the barricade."

Lyna turned to see the walking corpse's stream through the break, unhindered by the steady stream of archer they had put in place.

She cursed colourfully in Elvish, "fall back in line!" the militia and knights fell back so they stood shoulder to shoulder as the few archers that stood before the Chantry tried to slow the creatures.

Lyna fired arrow after arrow in quick succession, watching the bodies drop only for another to takes its place. She reached back to her quiver for another arrow only to find it empty. Cursing again she stowed her bow grabbing the dagger from her waist and the dagger from her boot before she leaped from the stone steps rolling as she landed on the ground. She stayed crouched down as she sliced through the corpses. Feigning left Lyna twisted and took a step back using the momentum to stab her right dagger in to a creature throat continuing the movement to crash it in to the ground. Kicking her leg out cause another to lose its balance, Lyna watched at the red haired Knight from Highever used his sword to cleave its head from his shoulders. Another came charging at her, she quickly jumped back, only to feel a sharp pain across her back, another corpse had slashed her across her back, breaking through part of her armour. Lyna gritted her teeth through the pain as the large wolf pounced on to the creature sinking its teeth into its throat

"Lyna!" Neria suddenly appeared beside her, "Your back!"

"I am fine." Lyna said as pulling herself to her full height, daggers at the ready.

"I have an idea," Neria said grabbing Lyna forearm. "I need to charge a spell and when I'm finished you need to tell everyone to drop okay?"

Lyna nodded before she lifted her voice above the noise. "GUARD THE MAGE!"

Neria quickly swallowed down two strong lyrium potions, before she began to gather her magic. She could feel it building like static in the air before she felt the familiar feeling of pin and needles dancing across her skin, she could feel it building until she felt the humming of it under her skin like it was vibrating.

Neria opened her eye catching Lyna's eyes as she turned from her latest kill, "Lyna!" she shouted, "NOW!"

"EVERYONE DOWN NOW!" Lyna screamed. Every single person stopped fighting in an instant and dropped to the ground like stones as Neria realesed the build up of magic, as lightening and ice fell from the sky. The lighten jumped from creature to creature as the ice winds froze the other in place before sending the shards of ice flying through the wind like blades cutting the others to pieces.

It seemed to last for an age, but eventually the winds quietened down and the lightening seized, leaving behind a cold damp mist and the taste of ozone and burnt flesh and the feeling of static in the air.

They all jumped up weapons at the ready waiting for another wave to arrive, but the village stayed quite.

"I think it's over." Lyna followed the voice to see Murdock staring with a look of disbelief at the remains of their enemy.

"Have someone keep watch just in case, there's another two hours before sunrise." Lyna said before turning to see Neria.

She was standing still, though barely, she was leaning heavily on her staff and her breathing was harsh and laboured.

"Neria come, you should rest lethallan."

As I said badass Neria :P so the elvish Lyna said at the beginning again is me taking sever liberties, but "Mythal an etha emma Aravel" is "Mythal keep my path safe" and "Elgar'nan tu emma mi sulena in Harel'len lin." "Elgar'nan cause my blades to sing with the dreaded ones blood"

I feel like I haven't done any cliff hanger lately? Think I might start writing in a few more of those... :P
