Chapter 6
Mother Dear
Hi Everyone! I hope you'll enjoy this chapter, you'll get more revelations about Gary and Spencer's past.
Enjoy!
While Jordan was out, Gideon was decided to know why Reid, Jordan and Emily seemed to hate McFerson so much. The rest of the team approached, to understand what was going on. The man sighed and began his explanations:
"Well it happened some times before Gary Michael's disappearance, I…I was in my office when this kid, Spencer Reid, walked in and asked to talk to me. I wondered what he was doing here, without his father, the mother was dead since some years, you see. Well I asked him if something was wrong and…"
He interrupted himself when he saw Reid and Emily walking toward them, files about Gary Michaels in their arms. They were currently reading them when they had heard Jordan yelling at the Sherriff. The young genius looked at the scene without saying a word, as well as Emily. The team was about to discover one of the worst truth about Gary.
"…I asked what was wrong and, Spencer told me something that I just couldn't believe…"
He turned to Reid who was still immobile and the others saw he was pale and trembling from anger. The genius didn't make any move to help the sheriff who went on.
"He told me that Gary was sexually abused by his mother."
Everyone was stunned at this. Though they knew it could happen, it was rare for a mother to rape their own children. JJ felt nauseous at the idea, and Morgan remembered what Reid told them earlier: 'we all suffered but Gary was…' Now he understood why the genius didn't say anything, Reid was now as pale as death and Emily was trembling in rage.
"So what happened?" Asked Hotch though he already guessed the man's answer
"I didn't believe it…Understand me, Mary Michael was poor but she seemed to be a good woman, she would go to church every Sunday, she was always smiling…"
"She was a heavy drinker, she was often beating Gary she also hit me, Spencer and Jordan more than once," protested Emily whose cheeks had reddened in anger.
Mc Ferson lowered his head again and no one dared to say anything.
"We all thought she was someone good. She was a widow alone with her child, we all pitied her. And I thought…" he turned to Reid, "I thought that your father's work made you…"
"Crazy?"
"What was your father's work?" Asked Elle
"He cleaned corpses at the morgue. Sometimes he would bring me along for some help. He didn't do it often, the boss didn't like to have me around too much."
He had always been thankful to his father's boss, the guy had spared him hours and hours of work with his father. The rest of the team understood now why Reid could handle crime scenes so easily.
"I told him to get away and to never come back. Spencer tried to convince me but I didn't listen, I couldn't handle the truth, understand me, I…She was often babysitting children to earn some money. But some times after Gary disappeared, a woman came with her son claiming that his babysitter molested him. The boy was just eight but he told us things that a kid shouldn't know…We interrogated Mary and she confessed everything, even the abuse on her own son…"
Spencer seemed sick now; Emily took him by the arm and led him outside. Jordan was there, looking at the stars. They went to her side, and explained what happened. Inside, Mc Ferson didn't dare to look at the agents.
"I couldn't feel guiltier, if I had listened, I could have sent Gary away and maybe he would have never been kidnapped or killed…I tried to make it up to Spencer, I tried to talk to him and apologize, but each time I approached him, he would avoid me or even run away. Eventually, when he was fourteen, hospital called me to tell me he had been roughly beaten. The father told us he had been attacked by some other kids but I investigated and discovered that William Reid was the culprit. I sent him into foster care."
For a moment silence settled in the room. Hotch was the first one to break it.
"It's a miracle you are still in the police, sir. Well now that we know this, we have to get back to work."
He received a phone call and saw it was Garcia. He left the room to talk with her. The team slowly parted and did as Gideon said, Elle sent a death glare at the Sheriff, disgusted at the way the man acted. Derek was even more upset than her, it reminded him too well of some secret in his past.
The three of them went to the interview they had to lead; Morgan would interrogate Marc Potter's brother, Elle his mother and JJ his best friend. Meanwhile, Hotch took out his phone and called Penelope to tell him what she found about Reid.
The interviews with Marc Potter's close ones weren't really satisfying, the last one who had seen him alive was his best friend, they had gone to a bar, and Marc had never made it home.
"I swear I went back home, my wife can testify, she was home because she was feeling tired, she had refused to come with us this night."
"We will check that out," said JJ, "now can you tell me if someone had a grudge against your best friend?"
"Some people yeah, Marc could be violent when he was at it."
"Did he ever beat his wife?"
"No I don't think so, I don't know if they still loved each others, but they cared. And Mira wasn't afraid of him, it was obvious, she didn't hesitate to yell at him if she was angry. Not the behaviour of a beaten woman. However he had problems with some parents."
"Why?"
"Well, he had beaten some kids from time to time."
JJ's eyes narrowed, she hated people who would hurt kids.
"He is not a very patient man, I know that one day he broke the arm of a boy who was stealing from his production, years ago. But he hadn't touched a kid since long, as I said he got problems, parents sued him so it gave him a lesson."
When the interviews were done, JJ, Morgan and Elle compared their results: they all had alibis, Marc Potter had been seen the last time by his best friends at 0:30 am, and never made it home, at least according to what his wife told the police when she called to signal his disappearance. He got problems with some parents years ago and recently he got into a fight with a plumber, Carl Myers, they would have to interrogate him.
Trisha Lauren wasn't really happy this evening. She was tired of this stupid store she had to work in; the clients were sometimes just unbearable, her boyfriend was being a jerk and on top of that, she would have to take care of her sick mother! She was still living in her house, she got an flat for some times but she had run thin of money soon she went to her mother who told her she would have to take care of her and pay a part of the bills and groceries.
Of course she didn't refuse because she didn't have many other choices but Lord, that woman was a real pain in her ass! She wouldn't say it to anyone; people considered it was normal for her to pay a part of the expenses and take care of her since her mother sheltered and fed Trisha now, but hell it wasn't them who had to comply with the woman's antics!
Her mum was handicapped, paralysed from waist to toes, and got also problems with her heart. Sure, Trisha felt sorry for her but Lord she wished she could spent time with her friends or her boyfriend instead of staying at home. After helping her mother to shower, go to toilets and making dinner for them both, Trisha helped her to go to bed and watched television. She hoped her mum wouldn't call her for something, she was watching Desperate Housewives and didn't want to miss any of it. She was so in the TV show she didn't hear someone enter the house by behind. She was unaware of the presence in her house when she went to bed.
The killer however was very aware of her every moves.
He waited a long time, to be sure she was asleep. He went to the mother's room and just pressed a cloth full of home made chloroform over her mouth and nose. She barely woke up before she went to artificial sleep. She wasn't his target, she didn't need to die. Plus someone had to be there to call the police and let Emily discover the surprise.
He went to Trisha's room then, he smirked while holding the knife tight in his hand. He didn't feel a wave of pity for what he was about to do, this bitch asked for it. He also put her into sleep with the cloth. It wasn't to spare her from the horrible conditions of her death, no. It was because he needed time to set up the whole thing. It had to be perfect for Emily; he wouldn't forgive himself if he deceived her.
He removed Trisha's clothes, put the bed in the right position, closed the sills and waited for her to wake up. When she began to open her eyes, he began to strangle her and released her before she could vanish to make a cut on her throat, not too big, it would take her some minutes to die. He wanted her to see as much as possible. Her eyes full of panic, pain and utter fear looked at him. He smirked.
"You should be honoured, you're a complete bitch and yet you'll become the new Mary Jane Kelly."
It didn't make sense to her, she didn't know who this Mary Jane Kelly was, but it didn't matter, she would soon be submerged by pain. The knife dug in her face's flesh, pain was everywhere in her body, she could feel her blood splash away when he attacked her flesh…Death eventually came, merciful. The killer didn't really pay attention to that, he was glad, he was doing the murder exactly as it should be. It took him at least two hours to do this, when he was done, he left a note on the crime scene and wrote something on the wall with Trisha's blood. He was very satisfied; he hoped Emily would be happy.
I need to go to a shrink...As usual reviews are very welcome, it's important for me to know what you think, if something seems wrong please say it (as long as it's constructive comment).
