Chapter 17 Here's To Us

"I can't believe this," said Noelle as she sat in the auditorium a month later in disbelief. "Why would he do something like that? Why?"

"They said that some of his teammates found out he was gay," Finn replied. "Then he was reading hateful comments on Facebook."

"Yeah, the guy was a jerk, but I had no idea he was gay," said Noelle.

"I did," replied Kurt.

"You did?" Noelle replied.

"That's why he was harassing me," Kurt said. "He had a crush on me. He kissed me."

"Karofsky? Dave Karofsky liked you?" Noelle said with a horrified look on her face. "Eww."

"I knew about Karofsky," said Santana as she flipped through the monthly issue of American Cheerleader. "He tried to get me to be his beard before I came out to you guys. I told him screw you."

"Double Ew," replied Noelle.

"How did he-I mean, who found him?" Quinn asked.

"His dad found him hanging from the fan, just in time thankfully," said Finn. "If his dad had walked in there any later, Dave would be dead."

"Geez," said Puck. "Why would anyone want to take their own life like that?"

"They think it's a solution when it's really not," Noelle replied. Just then, Will walked in to find the group.

"Hey you guys, good you're all here," said Will. "Is everyone okay?"

"I think so," Rachel replied.

"Well, I'm glad you all are here, because, it has come to my understanding, that Rory has never had peanut butter," said Will, holding a jar and a spoon out to him.

"What?" cried the others.

"Wait, what? But we like eat PB and J at the house all the time dude!" said Finn to Rory.

"I just ate jam and toast mate," said Rory.

"Well Rory, now's your chance," said Will, as Rory took the peanut butter-filled spoon.

"Oh god," muttered Rory. He hesitantly placed the spoon in his mouth and ate the peanut butter.

"Oh my god, that's delicious," said Rory.

"Whoo!" cried Brittney, clapping and everyone followed suit.

"Okay, what was the point of that Mr. Schue?" asked Santana.

"The point is, life is short," said Mr. Schue. "Conquer your fears, try new things. After what happened with Dave..."

"I think we get what you're saying, Mr. Schue," replied Mercedes.

"I almost contemplated suicide once," Mr. Schue added.

"What?" cried the others.

"When?" Noelle asked.

"Junior year," Will replied. "I cheated on my math mid-term, and the teacher caught me. They called my dad, and I was afraid of how disappointed he was going to be. I walked up to the roof, stood at the edge, and then I realized that what I was going to do was stupid. If I had gone through it, I would have never met Emma or any of you."

"Wow," replied Finn.

"I want to know what you're all looking forward to," Will replied.

"I'm looking forward to earning enough money to buy my parents a house so they don't have to go through what they did before," said Sam.

"I'm looking forward to meeting Finn and Rachel's children," said Mercedes with a laugh from everyone.

"I want to see my kids' first steps," said Artie.

"I want to see Sex and the City Part 3," replied Sugar.

"I'm looking forward to graduating and marrying Quinn and seeing Beth grow up," said Puck as he bounced Beth on his knee.

"I'm looking forward to graduating from Yale at the top of my class, and living a full life with Puck, Beth and our other future children," Quinn replied.

"I'm looking forward to the day my grandmother loves me again," said Santana.

"I would like for Lord Tubbington to stop his ecstasy addiction," said Brittney.

"I want to see marriage equality in all 50 states," said Blaine.

"I'm looking forward to my first dance at Carnegie Hall," said Mike.

"I just want a song," said Tina to laughs from the group.

"I'm looking forward to watching Dad make a change in Congress," said Kurt.

"I'm looking forward to having New Directions as my friends for life, securing my first Broadway role, and growing old with Finn, watching our grandchildren play in our front yard," said Rachel.

"I'm looking forward to getting my dad's dishonorable discharge changed to an honorable discharge and moving to New York with Rachel and Noelle," said Finn.

"I'm looking forward to winning the state track meet again with Noelle," said Harmony. Noelle high-fived her.

"I'm looking forward to NYU, and maybe also making it big in the industry," said Noelle.

"I'm looking forward to spending the rest of my life making a difference by coaching and teaching," said Josh.

"I'm just looking forward to winning Regionals," said Rory to cheers from the group as he continued to eat the peanut butter.

"Hey guys, we want to let you all know," said Finn, as he and Rachel stood up, "that Saturday, after Regionals, Rachel and I are going to get married."

"What?" Noelle replied. "Do Mom and Dad know?"

"Yeah, we told them after the reception," Finn said. "We contacted the Justice of the Peace and he's going to marry us here in the auditorium after the competition."

"Awesome," said Puck.

"We did have our first kiss here," said Rachel, smiling at Finn.

"And we want everyone to be a part of our wedding," added Finn.

"Of course we will," smiled Quinn.

The group had their final fittings for dresses and tuxedos Friday after school for the Finchel Wedding. Now the big day was upon them. But first they had to win regionals.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 2012 Show Choir Midwest Regionals! We please ask that you turn off all cell phones. And now, your judges for the evening...please give it up for the Deputy Zoning Commissioner, Melva Texon White!"

Everyone cheered as she stood up and gave a thumbs-up.

"The Ohio President of the Plumber's Union, give it up for Mr. Harl Beindorf!' More applause.

"And finally, Central Ohio's number-one late-night horror movie-host..."

"Oh no..." said Finn with an exasperation in his voice.

"Please give it up for SVENGOOBLES!"

The audience roared with applause as the New Directions all made the clawing and hissing motion at the judge and each other with the exception of Kurt who was cowering at Blaine, who was hissing at him, while Rachel just seemed to have a dislike for him.

"And now, from Dalton Academy in Westerville, Ohio, please give it up for the Warblers!'

The new guy Sebastian (who Blaine had said was both nice but very deceiving) and the Warblers went on to give a brilliant performance. Apparently, Sebastian knew Dave Karofsky too and had dedicated their performance to him. Turned out that Dave and Sebastian had met at a gay bar. Sebastian said Dave's attempted suicide felt like it was his fault as Dave had asked him how to pick up guys and one of his teammates had seen him there.

The group performed "Stand" and "Glad You Came". Then the Golden Goblets from Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow performed some secular number. And then it was time for the New Directions. Carole, Burt, Judy, and Mrs. Puckerman were all sitting together, dressed for the wedding, the other parents gathered around them.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to our final competitors, and your reigning regional and National champs, from right here at McKinley High, the NEWWW DIRECTIONS!"

The crowd roared with applause for the group. It was clear that the New Directions were the crowd favorite. A short while later, the three choirs stood on stage. Melba and Harl stood with the trophies as Svengoobles was wheeled out in his coffin.

"I've crossed oceans of time to bring you the results, of this show choir competition," drawled Svengoobles. Everyone clapped and cheered.

"In third place," started the vampire, "from Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow, the Golden Goblets!"

"And now, the moment you've all been waiting for," continued Svengoobles over the cheers from the Golden Goblets. "The 2012 Midwest Regional Champion, from McKinley High..."

Before Sven could finish the sentence the entire auditorium erupted into cheers and applause as the New Directions went nuts. Burt and Carole let out screams as they hugged Judy and the other parents.

"THE NEW DIRECTIONS!" finished Svengoobles. The New Directions were joyously celebrating as the Warblers looked at them in defeat.

"YEAH! We're going to NATIONALS AGAIN! WOOOO!" cried Noelle as Josh swung her around.

"And now it's time for the bride and groom to separate for the next couple of hours," said Quinn, pulling Rachel towards the back.

"We'll be here," Finn said, blowing a kiss to Rachel, who blew one back as the girls led the bride-to-be back towards the choir room.

"Hey uh, Finn?" Sam asked him as they watched Svengoobles try to congratulate Kurt and receive a "AH! Get away from me you scary vampire!" in return as Josh sat there rolling on the floor, laughing his ass off.

"Yeah Sam?" Finn replied.

"How come Kurt doesn't like Svengoobles?" Sam asked.

"It's complicated," Finn sighed.

"What's complicated?" Sam asked.

"Well it all started last night actually..." Finn began.

Voiceover/Flashback

Kurt, Blaine, Finn, and Rachel walked into the Hummel-Hudson living room with snacks and drinks.

"In place of our weekly musical movie night at the Hummel-Hudson house, we decided to watch Svengoobles and his late-night horror show. He was showing Event Horizon."

"God that film's disgusting!" Sam interrupted.

"Yeah, it was gross," Finn replied. "But that's not what Kurt was upset about."

"Then what?" asked Sam.

"Well, you know when Svengoobles announces the Fans of the Week?" Sam nodded. "That's where it got bad," said Finn.

"Have you guys seen Noelle and Josh?" Rachel asked as she walked into the living room with more popcorn.

"No, I think they might be over at Josh's house going over final plans for your wedding," said Blaine. "And isn't it supposed to be bad luck to see the bride before the wedding Finn?"

"Er, we're not supersitious," said Finn.

"Yeah, besides, Quinn and Puck told us that they were "busy" tonight," said Rachel, quoting the air.

"Ew, gross, hope they're using protection, we don't need another Puckerman baby," quipped Blaine.

"I'm gonna use Noelle's bathroom real quick," said Kurt, as Svengoobles came on the screen, introducing to announce the Fans of the Week. As Kurt opened the door to Noelle's room, he screamed and ran out of the room and up the stairs.

"What the hell?" Finn cried. He heard laughter come from behind the door to Noelle's room and opened the door to find Josh dressed in a vampire costume, and Noelle dressed from head to toe in black as his "victim", fake blood seeping down her neck and Josh's mouth.

"Holy shit, what are you two doing dressed like that?" Finn replied as Blaine and Rachel looked at the two in horror.

"We were picked as Svengoobles' Fans of the Week and got invited to his taping this afternoon," said Noelle, pointing to the TV. Finn turned to see that Noelle and Josh were now on his TV, dressed up in their costumes and waving to the camera.

"Your Fans of the Week are Noelle Hudson and Joshua Koontz of Lima!" said Svengoobles on the television. "They're competing in the 2012 Midwest Regional Show Choir Competition that I will be co-judging at McKinley High tomorrow afternoon!"

"We only just got back and decided to prank Kurt because he ALWAYS uses my bathroom on Movie Night!" added Noelle with a laugh. "Not to mention he HATES vampires and blood!"

End Flashback

"Wow," said Sam, dumbfounded. "Well, I guess that makes sense." Josh came over to them, a smile on his face.

"Well, Svengoobles managed to convince Kurt he's just an actor and not a real vampire," said Josh. "Somehow I don't think he's truly convinced though."

Svengoobles walked over to Finn as Blaine and Kurt looked toward the group of guys standing there.

"I want to congratulate you on your impending nuptials," said Svengoobles in a regular voice.

"Uh, thanks?" Finn replied.

"Your sister and Mr. Koontz here were telling me about the wedding when they were at my show yesterday, so I just wanted to say Congratulations on everything."

"Oh, uh, yeah, thanks," said Finn, with a look of shock on his face.

"Well, I must be off, I have another competition to go to today," said Svengoobles.

"Oh, where?" asked Sam.

"The Westerville Senior Center for their 'Dancing With The Seniors' competition," said Svengoobles with a smile as the boys looked at each other in horror. "Who knew I had so many elderly fans? You'd think my show would give them heart attacks. Congratulations again everyone."

As Svengoobles walked away, Carole and Burt came up to the boys.

"That was such a wonderful job you guys!" said Carole, dabbing her eyes, as Burt held out boutonnières to the boys.

"You guys earned that win, for sure," said Burt. "The justice of the peace is here."

"Great," said Finn.

"I'm going to go see if the girls need any help," said Carole. "Care to join me, Judy?"

"I'd love to," said Judy Fabray.

An hour later, Will stood outside the faculty bathroom, where Rachel was putting the finishing touches on her outfit. He was going to give her away since her dads weren't supporting the wedding and Shelby couldn't make it because of her show schedule.

"Rachel? You ready?" Will called as he knocked on the door to the faculty bathroom.

"Just a minute," came Rachel's voice. He could hear the flushing of a toilet and a sob in her voice and after a few minutes, Rachel emerged from the bathroom, her face looking like she had been crying.

"Rachel? What's wrong?" Will asked.

"Oh nothing, just butterflies," said Rachel.

"Rachel, you know you can tell me anything, right?" Will asked Rachel. Rachel took a deep breath.

"I need Finn, he needs to know first," said Rachel.

"What? What's wrong?" Will asked. Rachel took another deep breath.

"I'm pregnant, Mr. Schue," replied Rachel. "Finn and I are having a baby."

"What?" said a voice. The two turned to see Finn standing there, his jaw agape.

"Finn!" cried Rachel.

"Pregnant?"" whispered Finn. "Are you sure?" Rachel nodded.

"I took three tests, they were all positive," said Rachel as Finn came up to her. "I'm going to see the doctor on Monday."

"Well that explains why you rushed off into the bathroom last night halfway through the movie," said Finn, realization dawning on him. He placed a hand to the small bump that was forming just below her waist. "Wow, a baby. Do you know how far along you are? What does this mean for New York?"

"We're still going," said Rachel. "It'll be okay Finn. And if I did my math right, November. The baby was conceived after Will and Emma's wedding."

Finn grinned as he caught Will's eye who was just in shock at the whole conversation.

"Wow," Finn said again. His lips met Rachel's gently and Rachel returned the kiss. As they broke apart, Will cleared his throat.

"Sorry, we er..." started Finn.

"That's okay, Finn," said Will. He looked at them both and placed his hands on their faces in affection. "Congratulations."

"Thanks," said Finn with a smile, before hugging Will. "Thank you."

"Well, I think you better go take your place, Mr. Hudson," said Rachel.

"Okay," said Finn with a smile.

"And don't tell anyone else yet, we'll tell them together," Rachel added.

"Yeah, okay," said Finn. "See you out there."

"Okay," said Rachel, giving him another kiss. Finn walked away and Rachel took a deep breath.

"Are you ready?" Will asked Rachel. Rachel nodded and Will held his arm out to Rachel. She took it and Will escorted her back towards the auditorium. The girls were standing on the stage with the guys, rose petals scattered all over the stage, and Beth standing with Puck and Quinn. Everyone was smiling at Rachel as she and Will made their way into the auditorium and up the stairs. Puck and Quinn were singing "Faithfully" as the piano music played in the background. The Hummels. Emma, Judy, Mrs. Puckerman, the Changs, Cohen-Changs, Koontzs, Lopez family, and the Pierces were all gathered near the stage after standing near the front. Will placed Rachel's hand in Finn's as the two smiled at each other, and Will went to stand with Emma.

"Hi," said Rachel to Finn.

"Hi," replied Finn. Santana rolled her eyes.

"Can we get this over with already?" sighed Santana. "You two are disgusting me with your lovey dovey looks."

Everyone laughed, including the justice of the peace.

"Do you want to tell them now?" Finn said to Rachel. She nodded and shared a brief smile with Will.

"Tell us what, Finn?" asked Noelle. Rachel took a deep breath.

"There's going to be a new addition to the family in November," Rachel said. Rachel's words dawned on Noelle and she screamed with joy.

"Oh my god, I'm gonna be an aunt!" cried Noelle. "Oh my god! Whoohoo!" She pulled Finn and Rachel into a hug as everyone else looked at the bride and groom in shock.

"A baby?" cried Burt. "You're having a baby?"

"An unplanned but loved one," Finn smiled at Burt. "And a baby whose mom and dad will love him, or her, unconditionally and always be there for them when he or she needs them and always be supportive."

Carole sobbed and hugged both Finn and Rachel.

"Oh this is wonderful," started Carole, "a little early, but you know we will support and help you both."

"Thanks Mom, it means a lot," said Finn. "To both of us."

"Okay, let's get on with it," said Rachel, earning laughs from everyone. The justice of the peace chuckled and opened his book.

"Alright then," said the justice of the peace. "Dearly beloved, we're gathered here to join Finn Christopher Hudson and Rachel Barbra Berry in holy matrimony. If anyone here objects to the marriage..."

"Shut up and get out," said Puck and everyone laughed.

"I think we'll keep this short and to the point," said the justice. "Do you, Finn Christopher Hudson, take Rachel to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, to love and comfort, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do," replied Finn with a smile.

"And do you, Rachel Barbra Berry, take Finn-"

"Yes, yes, of course I do," said Rachel with a laugh and a sob as tears flowed down her cheeks. "Ugh, hormones. Sorry."

"That's okay," said the justice with a smile. She turned to Puck and Quinn.

"Do you two have the rings?" she asked.

"Yes we do," said Puck, pulling the rings out of his pocket. He placed them in Beth's hands, who in turn handed them to the Justice.

"Here you go!" said Beth, to a chorus of "Awws" from everyone.

"Why thank you young lady," said the justice. Finn and Rachel smiled at their goddaughter and took the rings from the justice and the justice spoke again.

"Finn, repeat after me. I, Finn..."

"I Finn..."

"...take you Rachel..."

"...to be my lawfully wedded wife..."

"...and with this ring..."

"I thee wed."

Finn slid the ring onto Rachel's finger, who in turn slid her engagement ring back above the wedding band. She looked up at Finn as the justice spoke.

"I Rachel..."

"...take you Finn..."

"...to be my lawfully wedded husband..."

"...and with this ring..."

"I thee wed."

Rachel slid Finn's wedding band on to his hand and the two smiled at each other.

"By the power invested in me, and the State of Ohio, I now pronounce you, husband, and wife. You may kiss the bride Finn."

The New Directions, Beth, and the adults watching cheered as Finn and Rachel's lips met. Rachel tossed her bouquet over her head to wrap her arms around Finn and everyone clapped as a dumbfounded Noelle caught the bouquet. Josh groaned as Sam and Rory clapped him on the back.

"You're next lover boy," teased Sam and Josh groaned again as the girls congratulated Noelle while Finn and Rachel continued to kiss.

"Ugh, horrifying," said Santana as she looked at the newlyweds.

"Ahem, Mr. and Mrs. Hudson, helloooooooo! You can continue that later in the honeymoon suite!" teased Noelle and the two broke apart blushing.

"Now I can introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Finn Hudson," the justice said with a smirk.

"Yaye!" said Sugar and Harmony, clapping their hands. Everyone followed suit and then the New Directions started a group hug.
