Chapter 11: The Hint

Scyther let me go finally after a few minutes. Vice glared at me with his angered eyes, and the tension returned to the room. The couple laughs that were shed by everyone came to a halt.

Vice simply turned around and walked up the stairs.

"What are the rest of you guys going to do?" I asked them. Afterall I finally broke that weird relationship they had with Vice.

"Well." Leo said, looking at the rest of the gang. "Truth to be told, we haven't planned anything yet. We were planning to head straight to the elite four in Sinnoh. But I still don't think we're ready. I mean, watching you and Vice fight. You practically destroyed Vice with two Pokemon, and none of the fainted."

"By the by, here's your Pokemon," I said remembering. I gave them back their pokemon.

"Thanks!" Leo gave the Pokeballs back to their owners. "But anyhow, I want to train more."

Everyone nodded in agreement.

"Hey. Next time we meet, we'll have an all-out brawl! K'?" he said.

"Yeah, let's just hope my Pokemon catch up by then." I said.

"No fair! I call dibs!" said Stephen.

"Well it's a little too late for that now. Don't you think?" asked Jeanne.

"Then I call second!" shouted Glenda.

In the back of the room I could see another figure walking down the stairs.

"Sorry, to keep you guys waiting!" called a voice. From the stairs appeared Nurse Joy.

"Great we just had an all-out battle!" Said Leo. "Heal our Pokemon for us!"

"Don't tell me another Nurse Joy clone?" I asked Stephen.

"What? That's a good thing!" said Stephen.

"Why is she in every city?! Why are there so many twins!" I asked him.

"You know, some questions are better left not answered. Let's just leave it at that, capisce?"

"Yeah, understood."

"Dear goodness what happened to that Scyther!" said Nurse Joy, walking towards me.

"I didn't do it!" I said, before any other questions were asked. I threw my hands up innocently.

"Nurse Joy, he really didn't. It was one of our friends named Vice." Said Glenda.

Nurse Joy ignored us and walked over to the scyther. She inspected him for a few minutes and finally said," Couldn't have done better myself. Who did such good work?"

"I did, and thank you!" I said.

"Hm… Young man, you're on your way to becoming a great doctor one day. Maybe you can help my sister back in the other city. They say there's a real air pollution problem back there." Said Nurse Joy.

"She already quit. She couldn't pull it off." I said.

"Wow. I remember she was a hard working even amongst us! If she quit she really needs some reinforcements." Said the nurse.

"Yeah, she does." I agreed.

"I can't do anything since I'm busy up here. Well for now, I'll think of something." Then she said to everyone." Everyone go upstairs!"

She left us and walked up the stairs with everyone else. I followed them and walked to the lobby window. The blizzard had let up!

"Roukou, let's go! I've had enough snow up here to last me a life time!" said Aria.

"Let's stick around a little longer." I joked.

"No!" said Latias', voice in my head, and Aria.

"Alright, I was only joking." I said.

Eevee and Zorua tugged at my legs. They agreed.

I put them and Scyther back in their balls and packed up my gear upstairs. We started to say our goodbye's to everyone when Nurse Joy told us that there was a ski lift that we could take. Or we could take the skis and snowboard in a nearby hut.

She lead us to the ski lift and the hut with the snow riding equipment. I grabbed a simply plastic snowboard that was completely black. There was a mechanism that let Pokemon stand in front of the trainer to enjoy the view. For the safety of the Pokemon, it was shaped like a black ball with a bunker around it. IT was made for Pokemon the size of Eevee or Zorua.

I let Eevee sit in the front in the bunker. Latias and Aria decided to take the least stupid way and made their trip down the on the ski lift. I put my goggles on and smiled. I surfed down the mountain like a pro. The mountain was steep but that was the way Eevee and I liked it. We flew, fell, down the mountain at speeds that made my hair fly back.

At times it seemed that I was skimming the snow, nearly hovering. At times I looked up to Latias and Aria, who were watching me with utter fear like if I were ridding the back of a Raquayza.

I was the first one down the mountain, there stood a building, where there were some refreshments, a changing room, and a computer. I was guess that the computer was used to store some fresh Ice type Pokemon you found in the mountains. And perhaps maybe so you could see what happened in the news.

The sky held the sky of a sun that was setting.

I hit the release button on Scyther's Pokeball, before I even got changed.

"Go on now Scyther. You're a free Pokemon. Go and have fun!" I said, with a smile. He looked back at me as if he were saying,' I'm forever in your debt.' Then he shook his head and stood there. His arms crossed. What did that mean?

"You are dismissed! You may take your leave! You're fired take your leave?" I tried.

He shook his head.

"Fine if you want to stand there forever, stay there!" I said. I turned around and was about to get changed but he moved forward and started to follow me.

"Eev!" said Eevee.

"Scy-Scy!" said the Scyther.

Eevee pulled on my pants, and I knelt down. Then she went to my belt and knocked off a vacant ball. Eevee grabbed my hand with her mouth and pulled it towards the ball.

"Don't tell me you want me to be your trainer?" I asked.

He gave me a single straightforward nod.

I picked it up and smiled.

"Scyther join me!" I said, and threw the ball at him. The ball landed on the ground with a thud. It shook once, twice. Then stopped. I picked it up and put it on my belt.

I got changed into my previous apparel and sat at the front of the building with Eevee in my lap. Eventually we fell asleep, but I was awoken by Aria and Latias.

"Let's go." Said Aria.

"Yeah let's." I said groggily rubbing my eyes. I stood up and we walked towards the town of Festivalia.

We made it to the city directly at the mountain's foot. It was a small town called Sakura town. It was a small town that was known for its abundance of normal types and flying types. It's gym leader's name was Maia. She was known for her kindness and her miltank farm.

The town was your average urban town. The town was split in two. There was a more country side and there was an urban side.

We were walking through town silently when suddenly we heard a battle going on.

'I sense some powerful pokemon,' Claimed Latias.

"Right, we may as well check out what's going on," I said to Aria.

"Wait what are you talking about," asked Aria.

"Sorry, I keep forgetting she's not talking out loud. Let's go check that battle, it doesn't sound too far." I said.

"Sure, why not?" asked Aria.

'Follow me." Said Latias.

She lead us through a dark alleyway and we found ourselves at a large empty park. A whole wave of wizards were huddled together on one side.

A single woman stood on the other side, her face was very calm. The wizards glared in fear. On the Wizard's side was a Magmar and a Stuntank.

On the lady's side was a Snorlax.

The lady wore what seemed like very comfortable loose clothing. A loose pair of green trousers and a thick white T-shirt under a Grey jacket. She wore black sandals on her feet and a pair of sleek white headphones hung from her ears.

"She's so strong," said one of the wizard's from the group.

"How, she wiped out like 16 Pokemon with just one Pokemon."

Further words of despair spread amongst the group. But the lady simply looked bored.

"Snorlax, Return." Said the lady.

The Snorlax suddenly flew, while asleep, and punched the magmar and knocked him out in a single hit.

"Stuntank, toxic!" shouted the Wizard.

The foe's Pokemon fired a purple stream of purple gas at snorlax, but the snorlax simply inhaled it and continued to sleep, unaffected.

"That's it retreat! We can't do it without Roukou the Sixth. Let's get out of here!" shouted a Wizard. The group of them fled.

My name was mentioned, hopefully they were talking about someone else. But somehow, I knew it I was some key to the Wizards operation. I knew it that I was more important to them then Latias. I was like a key to something. But why? Why, do I feel so?

"Hey kids, were you planning to challenge me?" asked the lady.

"Who are you?" asked Aria.

"I'm Maia the gym leader." Said Maia. She retained her look of serenity.

"Are you like the seventh gym leader or something?" I asked.

"No I'm the first. The team I was using was a team to fend off against people. You don't think that I'd use somebody so powerful on newbies, would you?" she asked me.

"Let me challenge you." I said.

"What, don't we have things to do?" asked Aria.

"I'm interested, don't ask why. I just am." I said. Perhaps I just wanted to see what made her so serene. What created the lack of concern in her face? There was something to learn here.

"Let's battle, then. I have my team for newbies on me." She said.

"Wait I want to battle against your actual team. I know I will lose but, I still want to challenge it." I said, I didn't know why. I just felt that I needed to.

"Sure, but be warned." Said Maia. I walked into the empty field and picked out my first Pokemon.

"Go Eevee!" I shouted. I released Eevee out of her ball and she landed, ready to battle.

Maia replaced her Snorlax with another Pokemon.

"Go Lops!" said Maia. From her black and yellow ball, out came a Lopunny. Her fists raised, she stood in a position of a graceful boxer. She danced from side to side, her feet shuffling across the field, looking for a niche.

"Come at us." Said Maia.

"Eevee return!" I shouted, not holding back.

Eevee ran at her, she wasn't holding back.

She tucked her head a little but with a single sidestep Lopunny dodged it.

"Counter with a fire punch!" shouted Maia.

"Eevee continue forward!" I shouted.

Upon landing she escaped unscathed from the Lopunny's explosive punch.

"A boxing Lopunny," I said to myself.

"Eevee, get closer but stand on edge!" I shouted.

"Lops, run at her!" said Maia.

The distance quickly closed and Eevee halted and backed up.

"Eevee, make sure you stay down!" I said.

"Lops, make it rain!" said Maia.

But saying this I couldn't see a hint of excitement in her face. How is she remaining calm?

Lopunny switched it up and struck with both fists, one with fire, the other with electricity. Eevee put all her years of training into play. She dodged and slid back. Other times she seemed to almost do a ful flip over her fists.

"Let's end this," Said Maia.

Then suddenly Lopunny did a single fire punch which Eevee dodged. Then in that same instant she crammed in a punch full of electricity, knocking Eevee back and out for good.

"Not bad, not bad at all." Said Maia. "With that kind of skill and maneuverability, I think you deserve a badge."

She exerted very little emotion in saying this. Why? I almost couldn't understand her. It didn't make any sense, everyone exerted some emotion, but she almost lacked a personality.

"I could see you're looking for something." Said the gym leader. "And I'm guessing it's not a materialistic badge. Let me guess the base of my emotions?"

"How did you?"

"I can sense a person's aura. I can sense everybody's aura." She said. She took out a badge from her pocket with a silver case no longer than my hand, and no thicker than two sheets of cardboard.

"Come here," she said.

I walked over to her.

"Talk about mental strain," said Maya. "Release tension."

She stuck out a single finger and she poked my forehead.

"Ah," I muttered. Time slowed and it felt like the Earth shifted its gravity. I fell to the ground on one knee clenching my head in pain. My body burned lightly.

"What did you do to him?" asked Aria.

"It's hard to explain. Well he has the potentials to use the aura, but someone's stopping him from using it. One of the ways to stop someone's aura from running is a certain drug. It makes you a little tired, but at the cost of stopping your aura. Well of course certain places in the world really effect one's aura and starts screwing with them like a magnet to a compass."

I stood back up, not fully recovered. I started to fall but Latias caught me before I could fall.

"Well it's official you've been drugged," said the gym leader.

"Drugged?" I managed to mutter.

"Yes, there are certain drugs to stop ones aura. From the way you said it, sounds like you didn't know anything about it."

I would've shaken my head if it wasn't hurting. Instead I said," I didn't know."

She sighed and said," I can only guess whoever is taking care of you is doing it for the best."

She stuck her fingers in peace signs and said in air quotes," For protection."

Then she put her hands down and said," What protection do they need"

She made her voice slightly deeper and said," From themselves!"

"Um Ms. Maya?" I asked.

"What?" she asked. "Oh right! Um... My bad, sometimes I go into a rant. Anyhow let me help you fight the drug. I'm going to buy you a couple ethers, by doing so you can for once in your life feel the aura. Oh yeah you should probably know, I think out of all the people that can use the aura and see it, yours, which is capped off and limited, is still ridiculously more powerful than other people's. It's seriously over kill."

"So... What are the advantages of the aura?" I asked.

"See people's aura. Feel it. Honestly it's good for telling if people lie. I mean when they lie their aura becomes larger, more excited. It's interesting, and beautiful, and definitely something you should experience once."

"Hold on I thought only Lucario's could feel the aura!" said Aria.

"Bahh, that's just rumors! If you're good enough you can see the aura from a distance." said the gym leader.

She dragged us along to a nearby store and bought us at least 20 bottles of ether, and she insisted I drank at least I don't know five of them. Making things even stranger they were for Pokemon. Sure it's not a big deal since they kill off poisons and stuff but, still…

After I told her for about the tenth time that I wasn't going to drink the ethers just yet, she finally left us alone.

We were left at the edge of town where we just stood astounded how much the gym leader wanted me to drink the ethers.

"I wonder why she wanted me to drink all the ethers?" I asked.

"Well she looked like an Aura enthusiast," claimed Aria.

"Well that's a good point," I said.

We took a path through a forest road.

[Setsuna Damius Note: Sup! I'm so happy that the anime Mekaku City Actors came out! I fell in love with most of the series and now I get to see on it a TV. I wonder if it's possible for a fanfiction or a story on the internet to become a TV show like that. Man I wish that I lived in Japan where you could get recognized more easily. (Starts going off in a rant about how my own fame would be awesome and how I would have to hide from the crowds.)

Well anyway, if you want a title page for your fanfiction, I'll do them. Recently I've been doing a few and started realizing how much fun they are to make.]

If there's a mistake in fonts, that's because I was writing a piece of it at school on computers that are so old, they can't have the latest gmail. (Seriously though lol)
