Chapter 12: Betray

"Festivalia, here we are. My other favorite city!" said Aria. "This city ignored the war, and stayed out of it. They took in injured soldiers and let them live their lives peacefully here, in the war many years ago. In fact the mountain we just crossed was often the battlefield since it was the direct center of the island. Another words this is the side of the island that lost. However since this city didn't fight in the war and helped many of the winning sides soldiers, the winning side supplied them with supplies to help fight the disease."

"You know a lot about this place." I said.

"Yeah, well this is a place where I could stay at forever! It's a perfect city, the last gym leader, and if you defeat her, this makes the best place to celebrate since, this city has the biggest amusement park on this island and Sinnoh."

"Well this is also the place where we say our goodbyes to Latias most likely. Well Latias, would you like to go to your brother's place now? I'll follow you over, but if we do, just let me drop off my bag." I said.

She seemed to contemplate it, then sighed. 'Let's go tonight, there's no need to keep my brother waiting.'

"Alright let's go." I said, then translated it to Aria. "To her brother's place."

"Let's go," she agreed.

We walked through the streets of Festivalia. Festivalia was a city with a lot of beautiful plains for Tauros and Miltanks to graze. There were some farms, and there were large houses everywhere, with beautiful white fences or trimmed hedges, and large yards. It was a place that seemed infinitely tranquil, with nothing to do. I could imagine what people were like here. They were probably as easy going as the miltanks. They would lollygag down the streets. Maybe you would see some BBQ. Perhaps a few parties. This place was a place where you could lay out a blanket on the grass and just fall asleep. Though very empty it took us nearly 1 hour to get to a hotel, we made it to the other mountain on the other side of Festivalia. The man at the front counter was dressed in a red polo and a tan pair of shorts. The inside of the lobby was painted with a milky green. The couches were made out of cloth rather than leather. IT gave me a very comfortable feeling.

The man stood up and walked over to us as we moved closer to him.

"Welcome, all of you. Allow me to give you a warm welcome on behalf of Festivalia." He said with a warm smile.

"Thank you," me and Aria said. Then I continued to say,"Nice to meet you. Excuse me could you tell us your name?"

"My name's Tom." He said calmly. "I'm guessing you three are looking for three rooms."

"Oh no, this lady," I said, gesturing towards Latias," Will be dropping us off. We would like two rooms."

"Alright, take the rooms on the top, the fifth floor. Rooms E10 and E11. They are the best rooms here."

"Thank you, Tom." Said Aria.

"Enjoy your night here!" said Tom. Tom went to his desk and handed us a pair of keys.

We walked up multiple flights of stairs to our room, since the owners of this building have some elevator probation, and upon reaching our room, I dropped my bags off. I made sure to grab my bag of herbs.

We walked back down the stairs and met with Latias in the lobby. The rest of the trip was made in silence. We walked out of the city and through a forestry path with trees on both side of the path. There were mountains on either side of us.

"Well Latias, this is where we say our goobyes." I said. I handed her the herbs. I started to reminisce all the memories of this trip. How we ended up meeting all the way to here. My eyes watered. I was probably never going to see her again. Then I said, lightly chocking," I'm. I'm going to miss you!"

She smiled sympathetically as if she were apologizing. 'It was fun. I'm going to miss you too.'

My mouth was empty of words. "Stay well! Don't catch the flew from your brother!"

'I won't, you make sure to stay well too.' Her voice calmly echoed in my head.

"If you guys are so sad of parting, why don't we meet here tomorrow morning and go to the amusement park. That amusement park is a lot more than just roller coasters, you know. It's also like a shopping mall, with a movie theater. It's the best place to hang out!" suggested Aria.

"That's a good idea." I said, lightening up.

'It truly is. It'll be fun. Then let's meet one more day.' Said Latias in my head.

"Latias agrees. But are you okay with that Aria? I mean the promise and all, I'm sure this can wait." I said.

"Nah… Let it be! Let's have fun, then let's go!" said Aria.

The three of us smiled and we departed.

That night, I was in my room alone. I had taken a shower and was staring at myself in the mirror.

I looked at myself and wondered to myself; when am I going to return to mother?

"When I heal Aria's father, I'll be back," I said out loud. "But still though… Is this what I should be doing?"

A picture of Maya's forced its way into my head and was telling me don't go home! The other thing she was telling me was drink the ether.

"Alongside my amnesia," I started to say to myself. "The truth seems to be deeper than it seems. But why would my mother do that? I mean she has no interest in anything but being a simply gym leader and spending free days on a snow capped mountain, right?"

Then Latias' memory came to mind, how she seemed to be in charge of the Wizards.

"Oh yeah and she's also some captain too!" I said to myself sarcastically. I walked out of the hotel's bathroom and threw myself on my bed where Eevee sat bored.

"Eev!" said Eevee. Probably saying, you're a mad man for talking to yourself.

"Yeah I know, bad habit," I said.

"Eev!" she said, probably agreeing.

I eyed my backpack and thought about the ethers.

"If the truth is a truth, then making sure it's a truth isn't a problem, right Eevee?" I asked Eevee.

"Eevee!" said Eevee seriously. She walked over to my bag.

Was she suggesting I take the ethers?

I walked to my bag and pet Eevee who watched me with serious eyes.

"Well I guess it doesn't hurt if I took some ethers right?" I asked.

"Eev!" agreed Eevee.

I opened up my bag and opened a bottle of the liquid substance and I started to drink.

The next morning we met back at the same spot. We wasted the day away. First we went to watch a movie, me and Latia' first movie ever. I was a little surprised by how huge the screen was. We went to see an action movie called Zoroark Master of Illusions. I was about to let Zorua out, but I thought that may have created a scene, and would've been awkward rather than funny.

We left the movie theater and Arai suggested we go to a club for a short while. She said it was a place where they played dance music and it was a simply a place where we could all dance freely. I told her that it was a bad idea since none of us knew how to dance and from what I read it was where drunks, drugged, strange people were. She said that since I was probably going to come out this far once, it was at least worth exploring the new experience, which I agreed with.

Well it was certainly a new experience. There weren't so many people since it was around noon when we entered. The music they played was unusual, it was just sounds. Random nonsense music it seemed, but I found it to my liking. The music they called it, dubstep? I wasn't a dancer but I just stood in a corner and listened to the body shaking music. Perhaps one day I'll buy myself a pair of headphones and an Mp3 Player. Latias on the other hand just thought the music was 'brain damaging'. Well that's a new way to put it.

After thirty minutes we left. It was pointless for us to stay there. We moved onto the amusement park, which was thankfully not too expensive. We went from roller coaster to roller coaster to haunted mazes, to minor rides. Finally we ended up on a Ferris wheel.

It was night time, and the Ferris wheel stranded us many stories high up in the air. From the top of the Ferris wheel I could see my home island in the distance. We were all quiet, perhaps we were tired, perhaps we were sad, perhaps we wanted today to never end.

"Well, I guess after this we take Latias home," I said, looking towards Aria.

"Yeah, I suppose so. We may as well start on the trip, just to stay on the move, away from Team Wizard." Said Aria.

Suddenly I felt dizzy and I slumped down a little.

'Something wrong?' asked Latias through telepathy.

"Oh, no," I said, "Just tired a little."

'Alright you don't look good.' She said.

"Who are you talking too?" asked Aria.

"Sorry, Latias telepathy. And yeah I'm fine." I said.

Suddenly Aria and Latias turned blue, like if their bodies turned into souls. They weren't completely solid, it was like they were standing over a fire, pieces of soul fluttered over them.

"The heck?" I said allowed.

Latias frowned at me.

I looked down and could see specks of blue beneath me.

'Your aura,' said Latias telepathically.

"Yeah weird." I said.

"Something wrong?" asked Aria.

"Yeah, everybody is, blue?" I said confused.

"Did you take the ether?" asked Aria.

"Well, I mean I was curious." I told her.

"So then the aura, is really real." She said. "Wow, that's really, really awesome."

"Can I take your hands for a second?" I asked curiously.

Latias, who sat beside me, lent me her hand. I grabbed it softly, and felt a new sensation. It was something other than heat, and something more rigid than soft. It was the same sense that told me danger and caution. When I touched Latias, I could almost understand her personality. Strong, kind, cautious. More and more thought came up.

When I let go they stopped.

"Wow this is so cool!" I said.

"So you can understand me without telepathy?" asked Latias with her actual mouth.

"Yeah!" I said. "My goodness, I never knew that the aura allowed me to talk to Pokemon!"

"What, you can talk to Pokemon now?" she asked.

I nodded proudly.

"Wow! This is amazing! I've got to try this once I get off!" I said allowed.

The night wavered on and soon we were put down to the ground. The silence returned like a flash flood once we were on the ground. We departed to where we left Latias last night.

"See you later," I said to Latias. "You know where I live, come back anytime, alright?"

"We'll see you again, soon." Said Aria.

"Thank you for taking care of me and my brother," Latias started to say then she said," Will you translate for me?"

"Oh sure," I said. I repeated her last words and waited.

"I am grateful for all you've two done for me, I'm in your debt. Maybe next time, if I see you two maybe I can bring my brother along!"

I repeated and noticed the smile on Latias face. She walked over to me and kissed me on my right cheek. My face became red with a burning blush.

"Umm," I said attempting to gather my thoughts. I hugged her and said," Come see us again! I'll be waiting!"

My eyes became a little watery as we stood there. I finally let her go.

"Hope to see you again." I repeated, a final time.

"Yeah, next time," she said with a bitter smile. Even she seemed deeply saddened by this.

I sighed and met Aria's eyes. Then I said, "Let's go."

"Wait hold on, do you here that?" asked Aria.

I sat quietly and stared upward focusing my attention to my ears. Then suddenly I caught sight of people's aura in the sky.

That's when I heard the sound of a helicopter.

"You've got good ears, and so?" I asked.

"Get down, bet you five dollars it's the Wizards!" she said getting behind a tree.

I moved with her and ran behind a tree. I shifted my eyes back up to the helicopter. I could see movement, and then someone stick their head out the helicopter window.

"Wait! Roukou! It's me!" shouted a voice through what I could've guessed was a mega-phone.

I looked up and asked myself," Mom?"

I walked out from behind cover and saw the helicopter was getting closer.

"Roukou, this is also where we part ways," said Aria.

"What are you talking about?" I asked her.

"You'll see," she said, with a forced smile.

"What are you doing, what are you planning?" I asked, her aura was lighting up a little.

She smiled and looked up at the helicopter that was now above us. From the helicopter, a rope ladder dropped down. Wizards slowly climbed down and surrounded us. Their robes were a deep violet as to the common light blue. Most of them were old members.

Then the last one to get off was my mom.

"Honey!" said my mom. She walked over to me and gave me a hug. She wore karate clothing like some fighting type gym leaders. The robe like suit was a plain black. Her hair was tied back in a pony-tail.

When first looking at my mother, many people think they can rob her, due to how slim and weak she looks. It's true she's not so strong, however my mom uses no strength in her combat style, she simply counters whatever is thrown at her. For an example, if she was about to be punched, she grabs the fist in midway and throws the person using the velocity and weight of the person.

"It's good to see you!" she said.

"Same to you!" I said. "What are you doing here though?"

"I'm here to come pick you up!" said my mom.

"Thank you! Though I would've eventually came home myself, somehow," I said. "Wait mom, before that, let me go to my friend here's house. Her unc-."

"Don't worry, I already have a plan for that," my mom said.

"Wait what's going on here?" I asked confused, looking at Aria who averted her eyes nervously.

"Sorry, your mom said that if I track you, she'll heal my dad."

"Oh that's great!" I said. My smile faded away when I remembered my question that I knew was pointless hiding. "Mom…"

"Yes dear?" asked my mom with a smile.

"Why, why did you hide my powers?" I asked.

"What powers?" she asked.

"My aura," I said to her.

"I didn't hide them." My mom said. Her aura sparked, a lie?

"Mom, Maya the first gym leader told me," I said to her. "I had been drugged."

"What for your own safety of course." She said dejectedly. Her aura sparked once more. Another lie?

"Mom, the truth."

"That is the truth."

Another spark, I glared at her with disappointment.

"What are you hiding? Are you also some leader of the Wizards?"

"What no!" she said to me. There was a gigantic spark.

"Mom why? Why are you making the wizards do terrible things to people?"

Her smile faded away and she gave me a glare, as if I was no longer her son. "How did you figure it out?"

"Your aura sticks out like a sore thumb," I said, careful not to mention Latias. Then I knew the next question. I didn't want to ask. I could accept all of this, but I was afraid of the next question. The one that will shatter all I believe in. "Who am I?"

"You're my son," she said.

"The darn truth!" I shouted.

"You… You're a weapon, an experimental weapon." She said. Then like if something hit my head, a sharp pain shot through my head. She continued on," I kidnapped you from the monk's from this island. I took you so I can use your aura, to create a new weapon. With an aura powerful as yours you can understand the Pokemon language. You can understand what they're saying."

"And," I groaned as large masses of memory was returned to my head. Almost all of them were memories with syringes being stuck into my arms for experiments. Sometimes painful, sometimes unconscious, sometimes close to death. "What, are, you, trying, to do?"

She smiled at me and said," I will create a weapon to control the large portion of the world. By orchestrating multiple psychic types and using you to lead them, all the Pokemon in the world will become under my control, and then, no one can stand up to me!"

"How?" I managed to say through clenched teeth.

"Let's say by using you to understand the Pokemon language, you can talk to psychic type Pokemon. However through experiments, let's say I heighten those powers to its peak. We have studied that it's possible to control Pokemon. Now, however, you alone can probably control one or two Pokemon. However what if that one Pokemon was, oh I don't know, Latias." She stopped at the end and gave me an evil smile that sent goose bumps astray. Then she continued," You will easily be able to make Pokemon fight and destroy teams. But I can bump it up once more, let's say I give you access to Palkia, Dialga, Raquayza. Gods. I can take control of the world! Of course you alone will need some help. That's why the psychic-types are needed.

However you're only one step in the ground. I will use you as a draw bridge to bring other people across into aura and use them to control more gods!"

"Why, why take, the world?" I asked.

"That is a story for another time. Now then Aria, lead my men to Latias."

"Don't," I managed to say. Still on the ground, my head buried in my hands. With one hand I reached for my Pocket, if I could reach Eevee or someone, then I can tell them to warn Latias before they reach her. I gave a sad glare at Aria, who turned her check and walked the other way.

"Aria, why?" I called.

She turned around with a smile she said," Because I need to save my family!"

Suddenly the pain lessened and I was able to say one sentence," I could've saved them!"

"Like I'd leave it to some half-baked kid that spent his life in a house with books!" she shouted, she turned and stomped off.

"I can forgive you for betraying me, but why did you need to bring Latias into this!" I shouted at her.

She turned her head and gave me a smile and then continued.

I snapped. I stood and threw a Pokeball at her. It bounced off her back and Eevee appeared.

"I'm out!" Eevee said.

"Eevee, follow Latias' scent and tell her that Aria betrayed-," I started to say but a handful of wizards knocked me down and dog-piled on me. The air was knocked out of me.

"Roukou! No! I'll save you!" she screamed running at me.

"Go now! Run!" I shouted.

"As if I'd let you do that!" said my mom. She picked out a Pokeball from her robes as Eevee ran past Aria and into the woods. She picked out a Pokeball and threw it, saying," Go Hawlucha!"

A bird shaped Pokemon that looked like some all-star wrestler jumped out of the ball.

"Ready!" he shouted.

"Go after the Eevee that ran into the woods!" said my mom.

"Understood!" said Hawlucha.

"Don't do it Hawlucha! Eevee's my Pokemon, please don't-" I started to say but I was almost immediately cut off with," As If I care kid!"

He flew into the woods.

The load of Wizards above me lightened. Then I was knocked out.

Setsuna Damius: Man this chapter was supposed to 11, but when I started adding up the parts. (Mini spoiler?)I saw that I just needed the Gym leader, because once Roukou gets free, he needs to train.

If this were a real book, I'd end the first one here. For a troll cliffhanger. Honestly I couldn't wait to get here, because of the whole, yeah we just screw Roukou completely over, everything that you did up to this moment, is a screw up. This whole Phoenix Wright size Turnabout is quite enlightening from the Point of View of the writer.(I'm sure Roukou would like to give me a handsome FALCON PUNCH to the face, but you know what I enjoy it :D)

School is so harsh… They take up so much time that I'm forced to write on my phone. Now that, personally, I don't think is right lol. Writing this chapter, I've had so much dubstep, Glitch hop, Electro, to listen, with a side of vocaloid.(If anyone want to get into vocaloids, maybe I can show them some songs. {I've known vocaloids for years now. I'm bound to know some songs that somebody likes})

I plan on listening to all the dubstep and stuff by Nexus! I have so many more videos to go. Is it normal to have red ears from an overdose of bass? Man I really got to listen to something softer.

This is how Roukou must have felt when he was betrayed, look up lyrics from the song called Naïve, by the Kooks.
