Chapter 13: Plan
(Setsuna's mistake note: I've made a mistake, when I said ether, I meant full heal, a couple chapters ago. Yeah, stupid moment, sorry. I'll go change that right now.)
My eyes opened. I sat in the darkness. I felt that I was sitting down. My forearms felt weak, and they felt like they were pierced. Strange. I tried to move my arm, and could feel something move in my arm, and I could hear a light clink as my wrists were loosely restrained. My arms became number and number.
Where was I? I looked around, but I was sitting in a black void.
I could hear some whispering, just barely audible.
"Subject is conscious." Said a voice. There was some more whispering, but I couldn't hear anything. The numbness reached my shoulders. What is this? I felt like I was getting weaker, more light headed. What is this anesthesia? It had to be. I tried to move my legs, but I could feel that they were also restrained. I looked around wide-eyed.
Then my memories slowly started to flow back into me.
"Where's Eevee!" I shouted angrily. "Where's Latias, where's Aria!"
But there was no response from the darkness beyond. I sat alone.
"Subject is enraged." Whispered someone from beyond the dark.
The numbness reached my chest. It was getting harder to breath. My throat full of something, it felt like I was getting sick or something.
"Someone. I know you're there!" I shouted angrily.
No one answered.
The numbness went to my head. My head felt like my brain was getting stabbed with pins from everywhere. I could feel the veins in my head move, and suffer under a heavy strain. My heart started to beat faster, becoming worried. Behind my eyes there was a stranger pain, like if I were crying too much, it felt like someone was rubbing alcohol in my eyes. Tears filled my eyes as I tried to move.
I couldn't take it. Wasn't there someone. Someone. Someone…
I blinked and this time there was a lot of light in my eyes. Everything was blurry. My head was in pain. I don't really remember. I sat up in bed, the covers fell off my body. It felt like I was in a victim in a car accident. Everything felt weird, as if suddenly the gravity was thrown off scale. A single movement felt like a large one.
What is this? Poison? It couldn't be, the only one that would match the poison is, a really old, banned poison. Even in the government, from what I read. It was nearly impossible to get your hands on it. I was able to make out a dresser, but it was heavily blurred, like some painting. I turned my head and it felt like someone had pushed my head with force.
Where's Eevee? I reached for my belt, nothing was there.
I slowly turned my head trying to adjust to the strange feeling. I slowly turned my body, but it felt like I was moving at top speed. I put my feet on the ground. I stood up and it felt like I was launched into the air, everything looked like I was in some terrible Smeargle painting. It looked like I was changed into Pajamas. I tried to walk forward and immediately fell forward into a wall, it felt like I had been hit by a bumper car. The room had the feeling of my old room. I think this it is my old room.
Am I home? I pushed myself away from the wall. I tried to walk towards the dresser, but as I reached it I started to get closer I felt like I was running out of breath. It felt like I was running a few blocks rather than walking a yard to the dresser. Once I got to it, I leaned my body against it and fell to one knee. Shoot, what is this? The air felt thin, it felt like I was… Out of breath? How? I just walked. It could only be a poison, or was it some sedative.
I could hear the door swing open. I turned around and I could see something blue standing in the doorway of my room.
"Hello there, son." Said my mom's voice.
I squinted but the blue mass remained a blue mass. "Mom?"
"Yes, I'm here." She said. "Now then. Listen to me and you won't have to go through so much pain. You remember the whole conversation we had, right? Well what do you say to it? Would you like to cooperate?"
"No. Never." I said flatly.
She sighed and said, "I knew you would say that."
Then the blob moved and something brown was thrown at me. I caught it, and realized it could only be one thing.
"Eevee?" I asked.
"Yes. She received punishment for trying to help Latias escape. Of course in the end all efforts failed! She put up the best of fights, but it was pointless!" With that said, she started to chuckle.
I put Eevee gently on the bed, she seemed to be asleep. Then I ran directly at my mom. My fist raised. But instead she continued to chuckle and she stepped out of my way. Where I rammed myself straight into the wall of the hallway. Then I could feel her grab my shirt from my back and fling me back into the room. I was thrown onto the bed, but it felt more like I was thrown past the bed. The shaking of the bed didn't help either, it felt like I had landed on a water bed.
"You probably noticed the modifications we did to you." She said.
"What did you do?" I asked, with a head ache.
"Just a bit of poison." She said. "Silly you should know what it is, since you want to be a doctor. This is to make sure you can't leave!"
The blue mass seemed to wave behind me. I looked behind me and saw a bright light, striped with dark lines. I lightly squinted my eyes and she said," Oh right, your eyes, the windows are barred." I squinted at her. "Now then you will be coming with me."
"No I won't." I claimed angrily.
"Yes you will." She said. She held up two things in her hand. "These are your pokeballs. I could put your zorua and scyther through a lot of pain."
I thought about it and sighed. "You win."
The blue blob moved towards me and something suddenly poked out. It grabbed me and pulled me towards her. It was most likely her hand.
I was lead down the stairs where every step down felt like I was about to fall. Then she pulled me outside straight into the snow.
I walked forward in my bare feet, biting my lower lip gently, as ice numbed my feet.
There was a white tent outside now. I was brought in, and noticed how much warmer it was. I was lead inside. More people that were shaped like blue blobs, were inside. They looked at computers, but my sight was so bad I couldn't even begin to read what was on the screens. I was lead through a door, into an elevator. Then my mom punched a button, and we descended downward.
I fell down to my knees. It felt like I was falling off a building.
My mom beside me chuckled at my fear. In about a minute we stood in a room, with a silver blob. Around the room were many blue blobs, with computers hooked to the silver chair. Besides the silver blob was what seemed like rectangular blobs, that I will guess are racks that contained medical objects.
"Sit down." My mom said, pushing me towards the silver object. I remained standing.
"What's on the racks?" I asked scared.
"Needles, and stuff." She said.
"Are they for me?" I asked.
"Sit down." she said.
"Please don't make me do this." I begged. I was not ready to have multiple needles stuck into me.
"Now, or else the Pokemon get it." She said.
I sat down in the chair and looked at my mom, horrified.
"Go through the process. Make his aura, stronger than the gods!" shouted my mom. "And, no anesthesia this time. We can't have him falling asleep, it disrupts the process."
"But mam, this may traumatize him." Someone said.
"I care why?" she asked.
"Go ahead!" said another voice.
The people around me restrained my wrists, my legs, and finally my neck. I stared at them, but I couldn't even see them. They closed in around me.
"Please stop," I muttered.
They went ahead and put two syringes into my arms. I closed my eyes, this didn't hurt much. Then I felt a sharp pain in my right foreleg.
"Ahh!" I said, opening my eyes.
Then there was another in my left.
"Ah!" I said jumping up making the needle move and making my leg hurt more.
"Stay still." I could hear my mother's voice.
Then suddenly someone came up to me with a needle. They took it to my face.
"Please stop!" I shouted, and begged. I would've moved away but my neck was restrained.
"Restrain his head," shouted my mom.
Then someone took something warm and wrapped it around my forehead and to the chair. I was crying out of fear. It was not out of sadness, but out of fear.
A sharp pain stuck me under my jaw.
"AHHH!" I shouted.
"Alright next," said my mom.
In the end, there were many needles sticking out of me. All of them fused my blood with different drugs. There were about two needles and two large blood taking syringes in my jaw. I stopped counting afterward.
The first night, I returned to my room, afraid, tired, and most of all, confused. Eevee glared at me, and said," My goodness. Your eyes, your body."
I sat down on my bed shivering.
"Did, they feed you?" I asked, calmly.
"Yes, "she said, and walked over to my lap. I could barely make her figure out.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"I don't know." I said.
Something wet dripped onto my lap.
"Please. Don't go. I don't know what to do without you." said Eevee, her voice cracking," Please be okay. If you die…" She didn't need to continue.
"I won't die in a place like this." I said faintly with a smile. But deep in my heart I knew it. I could never trust another human again. After being betrayed and needled like this. I just can't. The whole experience was too traumatizing. Besides I still wanted to help Latias, I wanted to see her once more. After all in the end I made her situation worse.
I eventually fell asleep.
Time passed. I didn't know how much. Maybe a month, maybe two. I was mentally driven to the verge of death. I sat there one night and said to Eevee.
"Eevee, if I died. There's no way I can become a weapon right?" I asked.
"Roukou, please don't go down this path. That's not you." She begged.
"But Eevee. I can end this. If I die, I can end this."
"Please don't go."
I stared at the floor and cried once more, I was afraid once. But I got tired of being scared.
"I want to die."
"Roukou, please." Said Eevee.
"If I could somehow hang myself." I muttered.
"Don't do it."
"I have nothing! Nothing! Not even my eyes! If I go I can cause a major setback in the Wizard's plans. I can wreck them!" I stared at Eevee, she was close so I was able to make out the shape of her face, but barely. I couldn't see her expression, but I could guess they were full of despair.
"I'm." I could only say guiltily. She was suffering too. I hadn't realized it. How selfish I'd become. If I died she would die too." I'm sorry, I was selfish."
"It's not like that and you know it, calm down, everything will be okay." She said.
I chuckled at the thought of Ok. Death was Okay. Not living, was Okay. But living, must've been some sick joke.
"Roukou." She said to me, like if she could hear my thoughts.
"I've got to sleep." I said to her." Good night."
"Roukou, stop. Listen to me!" she said.
"Eevee, I'm tired." I complained to her. I petted her lightly. "I'm so confused. I'm so lost."
"Then let me guide you!" She said.
"How are you going to guide me?" I asked, all that I've understood, was flipped like a table. Everything on it, friendships, people that I thought I was helping, everything was thrown off, and I was left with the underside of a table that was infested with gum. I had less than what I started off with.
"You don't need your sight, can you still use your aura sight?" asked Eevee.
"I have no idea." I said.
"Try." She said. "The things they've been doing to you may have turned it off."
"It's pointless." I said.
"Roukou, won't you listen to me?" she asked gently like if she were my mother.
I sighed and closed my eyes. I opened my eyes and stared at Eevee. Where was the aura? How do I bring it out?
"No." I said, shaking my head. I can't find it.
"If you can't see there's nothing that can be done about it for now. Let's escaped and get your eyesight back."
"You make it sound easy Eevee." I said angrily. "If I escape this house, I can't escape the island."
"Yes you can!"
"I still have to get Scyther and Zorua though!"
"We'll get them, sneak out and then figure out a way off this island!"
I sighed and threw myself into my bed, staring into it. I don't care anymore.
I don't I just don't. Tears rolled out of my eyes and wet the bed covers.
"Look, all we need to do is sneak off to your mom's room. That's where they are because that's where your bag is too, if I remember correctly." Said Eevee.
"There's no way to get in there! I passed by it a few times! It's locked and my mom's always home. What do I do?! What do you want me to do!?" I shouted.
"If you can't do it for yourself. Do it for me, for us, for Latias." She said.
Yeah, she's the one that has to stay in a room for the rest of her life. Maybe I can do something about it. If only I had my sight back. I want Eevee's freedom and I want to see Latias again. My heart fluttered lightly at thinking about her. This is the first step to setting things right. I had to try. I just needed to. For their sake, I've got to do right what I've done wrong. I thought carefully, what would make a person leave a room unlocked. Only in an emergency where they forget to unlock it. My mom's most important thing is me. So then, I just need to put myself in a dangerous position.
"Eevee, I have an idea," I told her. "But it's going to be tough and you need to time it."
"As long as it doesn't kill you."
"But if this fails, I'm going to take option B. Promise me, that you'll let me die and you'll run." The thought of this strange form of salvation brought more tears to my eyes, because I knew my plan was not the best.
"Fine but if only your plan has a chance at making it." Eevee said. I knew she was lying. No matter what she wasn't planning to let me die like this.
I spent the night explaining the plan to her and I went to sleep.
I woke up later that night and shuffled to the outside of my room. I walked through the hall drunkenly, then I purposefully tripped and face planted, making a heavy thud sound on the floor. My head felt like I had been through an accident. I stood back up and jumped then I landed on my knees and hands. My knees creating a shockingly loud sound. I felt like I was riding an airplane with a drunk pilot, going through rough air. I stood back up and shuffled some more until I was at the stairs. I made my way down the stairs and then fell to the floor once more. I stood up, with a queasy feeling this time. I didn't want to do this, but this was the best plan I got. I spun around for a few seconds, in the darkness my stomach lurched and I could feel a tingly sensation rise up my body. I then finally fell to the floor and threw up, then finally I fainted.
"Mam, the target it unfit to work on," said someone, waking me. I opened my eyes lightly, I was in my room, Eevee slept beside me. Did the plan work?
"As if I care hook him up anyway." Said my mom's voice.
"This is too much on his body. At this rate he may truly die." Said the man.
"Go anyway." Said my mom. "Bring the equipment in here for all I care. Do everything you need."
With a sigh the man said," I'm sorry I quit. This is too much, I can't let you simply torture children like this."
"Then you're fired." Shouted my mom. "Out with thee!"
I could hear the man march out of the room, and down the stairs.
"Don't worry, you'll still be working in high-gear!" said my mom.
I glared at her, or at least the general area. So maybe there were a few people that had some feelings. But people weren't worth trying to trust.
I could see my mother's aura leave the room, as I heard the door open and slam shut.
"Eevee," I muttered.
"Yeah, I got them. They're under your bed." Said Eevee. I could see her walk under my bed and pick something up. She moved to me and placed a smooth circular object in my hand. "I got the balls and also got two of those full heal, along with your wallet. But will you be okay, using full heals on yourself? You're not a Pokemon after all."
"I never said that this plan was without risk," I said with a smile. "We'll be escaping tonight."
I smiled at Eevee and pet her soft head with a weak hand. "Hey, thanks."
Her aura, sparked, and I could only guess she was smiling at me. She grabbed the ball that was in my other hand and put it beneath my bed.
I looked past the wall, and to my right and saw my mom's aura, coming this way. I quickly stood up and stumbled towards my closet.
The door opened and my mom stood in the doorway.
"What are you doing!?" she shouted at me.
"Uh..." I said, half faking a moan. "I just want some breath mints, I smell like barf. Might be in that drawer."
In which I truly did, smell like barf.
"You shouldn't have pushed your body so hard then. You're the idiot here! Now get back in bed."
"But mom, if I don't get those, breath mints, I just might puke again, the smell. The smell is making me nauseous."
"Alright alright! You want breath mints? Sheesh you can have them!" I could hear her dig for something in her pocket and then something hit me in my shoulder. "Can't catch? You have such butter fingers."
She left the room.
I picked up the breath mints and took a few out of the container. Then I put them in my bed and hid them in the bed. After all I didn't know what was in them, and besides I wasn't really hungry. Now that I mention it, I rubbed my stomach, shouldn't I have starved to death? Maybe my mother was hooking up nutrients or food tubes to me, while I was going through the process? Who knows? But least of all I think I got a grip on the mountain that I was falling down. Tonight, it's time to climb the mountain again, even with these beaten hands. I don't know where this peak is, but I'll get there.
Fortunately I hadn't been experimented on that day, as many people seemed to simply not want to do something like that to a, kind of, sick child.
I hadn't slept that night, I was worried about getting caught. I was hungry, but I didn't care. I was just worried, it felt like someone was suddenly going to jump out from my closet. If I escape, I will be able to look for Latias. It was eleven-o-clock, Eevee told me so, for there was a clock in my room that I couldn't read. I reached under my bed for the full heal and shoved it under my covers. I turned left in my bed and made sure it was completely hidden, just in case someone walked in.
"Just drink it," said Eevee.
I rolled my eyes, if I get caught I'd get everyone in trouble.
I started to try to unscrew it, but it didn't even budge. And did it have such a large top?
"You're holding it backwards."
I would've made a snarky comment, but I had to be quiet. I felt the sprayer and turned it in a slowly, but controlled fashion. Then I put the bottle's opening in my mouth.
Full heals don't taste all that good. It wasn't bad, either. It tasted like strong menthol, except there was no smell. Well the best way to explain it would be like boiled water, but adding breath mints to it.
I inhaled it and wiped my lips on my arm. I tensed my muscles, as I could feel a strange surge go through me. Like if I were stretching but my whole body fell asleep, creating a strange stinging sensation around my body. Then as soon as the sensation passed, I felt hungry. I moved around, my body felt well. But I smelled strange, I smelled like steam. Maybe I didn't notice people were wiping me down with baby wipes? Why can't people be more concerning?
However it seemed like I couldn't get my sight back. Eevee did say that my eyes looked terrible though, I wonder what she meant.
"Let's go," said Eevee, as I picked up the balls from the bottom of my bed. I'm coming Latias.
(Setsuna Damius: Finals are in a week. It's time to get into high gear in this book.
(Man this is weird, I could've swore: three weeks ago, I finished and posted this chapter.) (This is me from after my vacation, yeah I tend to write my notes while I write, so it's kind of like a journal. Anyway, I enjoyed my trip, and I'm going to post something I was working on while I was on my way back, I mean, while I was on the trip, throughout the three weeks. This one is going to be posted on my fictionpress account, which should have the same account name, not so sure. I've been swearing to do it someday but all the time I past it on. I have to write a fanfiction about my childhood's most important, most favorite, most everything show ever. Monster rancher/ or in Japan, Monster farm. That show, was my childhood. If I can't at least put down a fanfiction in commemoration for a decade of loving that show what kind of fan am I? I'm going to make the story is reader friendly so the game's explanation will be explained. I support people to read it. (The show is basically a lot like DQM Joker if anyone's played it. It's a little bit (very little) like Pokemon. The whole train your monsters portion is there, but it's different. For those of you who know what I'm talking about, I'm not going to write it as if I were at the ranch (since the TV show mostly consisted of an adventure, rather than a farm. And I only played the DS version of the game). Well this story will only happen after I finish a lot of my other stories.
My vacation? You people care enough to read this *gasp* lol. Well the most amazing, spectacular thing is that I got to saw Persona 3 Midsummer Knight's Dream. (Not that good though.)
I'm in Archive of our own now too! Woo… I'll probably post random game artwork, or Pokemon, or whatnot. Maybe I'll have artwork for my books too. But at the moment Account Setsuna_Damius on Archive of Our own is empty. Well thanks for reading, and that's what's up. Peace and see you soon. Setsuna Damius signing off!
P.S Sorry for the wait
