We were all waiting in Fairy Tail's Team Dressing room, waiting for us to be announced.
I looked at the ceiling hearing all of the cheering come from above me. People really liked to see Wizards fight, huh?
"Listen to all that cheering." Erza said in awe.
"That's a lot people." Lucy said nervously.
"They can't all be Wizards, there's probably a lot of regular people here too." Gray pointed out.
"Anyway, what's with these clothes?" Natsu asked looking at his outfit.
Gramps had made us custom, matching outfits with the guild's emblem on them. They looked like our normal clothing, just purple and a white Fairy Tail emblem above where our heart was.
"Master said we should all be dressed in matching team colors." Lucy informed.
"I think it's a cute idea. I like it." Erza stated.
"Yeah, I don't mind it. It's exactly like the normal clothing we would wear, just a different color." I said, putting my hands behind my head.
"Yeah, I like them too." I sweatdropped seeing Gray say that but only having his pants on.
"Try wearing some clothes before you say that!" Lucy exclaimed.
"Hold on a sec, you can't possible expect me to wear this!" I let out a snicker seeing Elfman hold us Wendy's outfit.
Natsu bursted out into laughter, "Hahaha! Those are perfect!" He yelled.
"Yeah, I don't think you'd have a chance fitting into Wendy's outfit." Lucy commented.
"We'll work out something, big guy." I assured and patted him on the shoulder.
"By the way, I ended up joining you guys out of necessity in the moment but what about Wendy? Is she okay?" Elfman asked.
"That's right, Erza didn't you have the others look for her? Do you know if they found her?" I asked her getting serious.
Erza nodded her head, "Yes, I've been meaning to tell you. Romeo told me earlier that they found her. She should be in the infirmary right now." She answered.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Natsu yelled and ran off.
"Idiot, you don't even know where the infirmary is!" I yelled as we all followed Natsu.
"Wendy!" Natsu yelled as he bursted into the infirmary.
I walked in and saw Wendy and Carla passed out in one of the beds with Lisanna, Happy, and Tyrus by her side.
"What happened to her?" I asked, looking at Lisanna.
"We don't know. We just found her passed out like this." Lisanna informed sadly.
"Carla too." Tyrus added.
"Natsu, Vez…" My eyes widen hearing Wendy's weak voice.
"Wendy, you're awake!" I said out in alarm.
"What happened to you?" Natsu asked.
"I'm sorry...I can't remember very well." She said weakly.
She suddenly flinched in pain, "This must be magic power deficiency. Losing such a huge amount of magical power at once causes the entire body's physical strength to suffer." I turned around to see Porlyusica walking in. I guess Gramps had her come along just in case something like this happened.
"Porlyusica!" Lucy said in surprise.
"If she rests for a while she should recover." I sighed in relief knowing Wendy would be okay.
"What are you doing here Miss Porlyusica?" Lisanna asked curious.
"Am I not allowed to come cheer you on?" She asked, her gaze shifting to Lisanna.
"No, of course you are." Lisanna said quickly.
"I take it Gramps asked you come to take care of us when we get injured." I guessed as I crossed my arms. She hated people and the huge crowd out there would just make her even more cranky.
"Yes, Makarov did ask me of that." Yup, knew it.
"My question is, what could have been able to take away all of hers and Carla's magic." Erza interjected.
"I can't remember too clearly, but I seem to recall some black creature…" Wendy suddenly flinched again in pain. It looks like even trying to remember the event was causing her pain.
"Don't push yourself. You need to rest." Porlyusica scolded.
"Everyone...I'm sorry. Even after everything with the training...I can't be part of the team. Elfman, please go in my place." Wendy pleaded as tears welded up in her eyes.
"Of course! Just leave it to me." Elfman assured.
"Alright then, get out of here! She needs rest!" I then got thrown out along with others and the door was slammed shut behind us.
"Ugh, should have seen that one coming." I muttered from atop the pile.
"She does hate people after all." Gray added.
"Everyone get up, we don't have time to lay around. The games will be starting any minute now." Erza ordered, already out of the pile.
We all crawled out from the pile and stood up. Erza was already making her way to the entrance into the arena. We quickly caught up with Erza.
"Is the culprit who hurt Wendy in this even somewhere?" Natsu addressed as we walked.
"It's still too early to tell, but I think that it's very likely." Lucy added, adjusting her keys on her belt.
"If that's the case then this guy is going to get the biggest pummeling he'll ever get." I stated as adjusted my scarf.
"Was their aim to try and lower our battle power, or something else?" Gray questioned as he put on his coat.
"Whatever it was, right now our only choice is to do this! Let's do our best for Wendy's part too!" Elfman cheered.
"Let's go." Erza announced as we finally reached the entrance into the arena.
"The time has finally come, everyone! The annual Grand Magic games has begun!" I heard announcer say.
"I'm your announcer Chapati Lola. And former council member Yajima has joined us as commentator. Thank you for being Yajima." So Yajima was a judge huh? I bet I can guess what team he's rooting for.
"My pleasure." Yajima thanked.
"For day one's guest, we've invited the sparkling Miss Fiore, Jenny Realight of Blue Pegasus." Never heard of her before, honestly I wasn't sure if Blue Pegasus had that many women in their ranks.
"We're gonna win this year so look out!" Her voice is already annoying me...no surprise there…
"The team members have finally entered. First off the Preliminary round's 8th place." That was our queue. We walked out from the entrance and started to head out into the arena.
"Will they be able to reclaim their past glory? Contrary to their name, they're the wild, rowdy Fairy Tail!" As soon as we walked out we were suddenly met with boo's.
"Are you kidding me?!" I yelled, gritting my teeth.
"They're booing us?!" Gray said through sneered teeth.
"Even though they've gotten last place every single year, Fairy Tail managed to claw their way through the preliminaries. Though of course, they made it in 8th place. With the return of the Tenrou Team who have been causing trouble all over the place, can they possibly become top of Fiore?!" Chapati questioned.
"This booing is a bit over the top. The games haven't even started yet." Lucy said as she hung her head.
"Keep your cool, Lucy." Erza comforted.
"Fairy Tail!" I grinned as I saw our whole guild cheering us on.
"The only crowd we need cheering for us, is our friends." I told Lucy.
"Yeah." Lucy agreed smiling.
"Hey guys, what's that..?" I looked over where Natsu was looking and my eyes widen seeing a familiar face sitting by Gramps.
"No way?!" Lucy exclaimed.
"How the hell is that possible?!" I yelled freaking out.
Sitting right next to Gramps was First Master Mavis!
"Having the First Master here looking over us is reassuring!" Natsu said, collecting back together.
"Even as a spirit." Gray added.
"And here I thought, seeing her spirit was a one time thing." I said sweatdropping.
"Next up is 7th place in the preliminaries. The hounds of hell's army, Quatro Cerberus." Cheers erupted from the crowd, making me deadpan.
Seriously, guys who yelled "wild" all the time get cheered and we get booed?
"Hey, wait a minute, why does Fairy Tail's team have six members?!"I heard someone in the crowd yell.
"Yeah, they're supposed to have five!" Another one yelled.
Soon an entire uproar started, "Settle down folks. The creators of the game decided to change things up this year. One of the new rules is that a guild can put six members on a team. That sixth member will have to participate in our bonus round that we will have on the third day of the games." Chapati announced.
The crowd then settled down, "So that's why." I pondered out loud.
"That would make Vez our sixth member then. I guess that's good to know who will be going in for that bonus round." Gray stated.
"Now, coming in sixth place we have the all-female guild. The dancers of the deep blue seas, Mermaid Heel." My eyebrows rose up, there's really an all-female guild? That's pretty cool.
"Fifth place is the azure wings that sparkle in the darkness, Blue Pegasus." I shuddered as the Trimens and Ichiya made their entrance. Though I questioned about the guy in the bunny suit.
"Fourth place, the goddess of love and war's sacred destroyers, Lamia Scale." My jaw dropped seeing Jura walk out with them.
"Jura's participating?!" I yelled in shock.
"Aw crud, he's one of the Ten Wizard Saints. I don't know if any of us can beat that monster." Gray said unsure.
"No kidding. I think anyone going up against him is done for." Lucy added.
That's when I saw a girl in similar clothing that Sherry wears and even has pink hair in pigtails.
"Who is that?" Natsu asked, tilting his head.
"Yeah, I would have thought Sherry would participate." I added.
"There's someone in Blue Pegasus I've never seen before too." I don't think you could call them a person though…
"Chelia is Sherry's cousin." Yuka informed us.
"She's really strong too." Toby added.
"My love still isn't nearly as strong as Sherry's." Chelia argued.
"I was complimenting you!" Toby yelled, freaking out for no reason. He hasn't changed much.
"I'm sorry Toby!" Chelia apologized.
"Calm down." Yuka scolded Toby.
"Gray, don't forget our promise. If we win, Juvia joins our guild." What the hell was Lyon talking about?!
"What the hell kind of promise is that?!" I yelled, glaring at Gray.
"Relax, Vez! I didn't promise anything like that to him, but it's not like we're gonna lose to him anyway."
I suddenly felt someone sniffing me. I immediately tensed knowing who that was.
"I can never decide between the lovely Erza or Vez. You both have such lovely parfums as always." Erza and I twitched seeing Ichiya getting closer to us.
"Get away!" I yelled leaning back.
"Quit it!" Erza yelled. This is why I'm not a big fan for Blue Pegasus. Ichiya creeps the hell out of me!
"I'll take you, though I didn't pick you cuz I like you or anything." Ren said as he went over to Lucy.
"You haven't changed a bit over the past seven years." Lucy deadpanned.
"I'll take Wendy, then." Eve stopped seeing Elfman instead of Wendy.
"You've really grown in a...terrible direction…" I couldn't tell if he was serious or not.
"Are you an idiot?" Elfman questioned. I was asking the same thing.
"I'm gonna go join Mermaid Heel." Hibiki said going towards the all female guild.
"You're way off their theme!" Toby yelled.
"Moving on, coming in third place we have… now this is quite a surprise, in third place we have a first time competing guild! The midnight raiders, Raven Tail!" Wait what?!
"Raven Tail?! What the hell are they doing here?!" I yelled, clenching my fists and jaw.
"That's Master's son, Ivan's guild." Erza informed.
"A Dark Guild?! The Grand Magic Games is letting a dark guild participate?! Well?!" I could hear Gramps yell.
"Did they say, Dark Guild?" I heard someone in the audience ask.
"I've never heard of them before." Another one claimed.
"Well, according to our official information, Raven Tail existed over seven years ago. But had only been approved as an official guild recently." Chapati informed.
"You've gotta be kidding me. How did they pull that off?" I pondered out loud.
"If they're approved by the Magic Council then that means they're not a Dark Guild." Yajima stated.
"Fairy Tail." We turned our heads to face the members of Raven Tail.
"That little girl was our way of saying hello." The one in gold armor said.
That's when I saw a little black creature hop on the weird blue guys shoulder.
My fists shook as I clenched them and I glared daggers to Raven Tail.
"You're the ones…" Natsu started.
"Who did that to Wendy…" I finished as we both glared nothing but hate towards Raven Tail.
"We won't forgive you." Natsu informed as well all glared off with Raven Tail.
"There's only two teams left that made it through the preliminaries." Chapati announced.
"Well we know Sabertooth is one of them but who's the other?" I questioned.
"It looks like another powerful guild that was in hiding." Gray guessed.
"I wonder if they have anything to do with that mysterious magic Jellal mentioned." Erza pondered.
"Here we go! The team who came in second place in the preliminaries, well now...this is definitely unexpected! Could the flapping of their fallen wings really carry them all the way here?! It's the least expected...the unbelievable…" My eyes widen seeing the team walking out.
"No way…!" Natsu said shocked.
"Fairy Tail Team B!" My mouth dropped seeing Laxus, Gajeel, Mira, Juvia, and… Mystogan?!
"Juvia!" Gray yelled.
"Gajeel!" Natsu followed.
"Laxus!" I yelled next.
"Sis!" Elfman yelled lastly.
"Wait, what about Mystogan?!" Lucy yelled, pointing at the cloaked Wizard.
"Fairy Tail has another team?!" The crowd yelled in confusion.
"That can't be Mystogan, so that means… Jellal?" That's when Jellal shushed us. Why the hell was he participating for Fairy Tail as Mystogan?!
"Oi, Gramps what the hell is with this! Another team?!" I yelled at Gramps and pointing at Team B.
"Yeah, why does Fairy Tail get to have two teams?!" The crowd started to riot again.
"Well, it seems as though there's a lot of people still confused over the new revisions to the rules this year, don't you think, Yajima?" Chapati questioned.
"That's right, just like with the new six member team rule there's also the new rule that a guild can enter two teams into the games." Yajima confirmed.
"You could have warned us, Gramps!" I yelled as a large tick mark appeared on my forehead.
"Vez, calm down before you pop something." Lucy said sweatdropping.
"That's how we do it in Fairy Tail!" Gramps cheered along with the rest of the guild.
"But in this tournament each team has the possibility of being matched up against every other team. Will members of the same guild be capable of fighting themselves." Clearly Chapati doesn't know Fairy Tail very well.
"They'll be fine." Yajima assured.
"But that seems kind of unfair doesn't it? Like, what if the competition has each time send out one member at a time for a battle royale. Then Fairy Tail would be the only guild to have two members in the ring at once, right?" Jenny questioned.
"Of the over 100 guilds that entered Fairy Tail is the only that still has two teams in the running. This is their advantage they've earned, don't you think." Chapati asked.
"That's why there were so many guilds in the beginning, because there were two teams for one guild!" I said as realization hit me.
Natsu suddenly ran forward, "Don't give me that crap! I'm serious here!" Natsu yelled.
"I don't care if we're part of the same guild or not! If we're fighting against other, we fight with all our strength! Don't even think about holding back!" Natsu yelled, pointing at Gajeel.
I let out a smirk, Natsu was right. This could get really interesting with us fighting the other team.
"So this is what you meant yesterday." I said walking over to Laxus.
Laxus smirked, "Looks like we're going against each other this time."
"Don't think Team A won't go down without a fight, and don't even think about holding back if we face off." I ordered.
"Wouldn't dream of it, we haven't had a serious fight in a long time." Laxus answered with his smirk getting bigger.
"Oh and another thing, won't you guys be in trouble if they find out about Mystogan over there." I said and glanced over to where Erza was talking to Jellal.
"As long as he keeps his cover, we should be fine." Laxus assured.
"Then you might want to tell them that Mystogan was a very quiet guy and didn't talk much." I said, pointing my thumb over to Jellal.
"I will and you should tell Erza to calm down a bit. She might blow his cover." I nodded in understanding.
"Also, keep an eye out for your dad's guild. One of his members attacked Wendy last night and Elfman had to take her place because of that. They might try something again." Laxus grew a serious look.
"Don't have to tell me twice." Laxus reassured.
"Now for the last team that made it through the preliminary round. That's right! You all know who they are! The strongest! The invincible! The complete dominators! Sabertooth!" The crowd went into a roar of cheers as Sabertooth stepped out.
I recognized the two Dragon Slayers from yesterday. I had a feeling they would be participating.
"Here they come…" Natsu trailed off.
"Looking forward to you Natsu, Vez." I narrowed my eyes, he did know me then.
"Don't wave that finger at me, you bastard." Gajeel said darkly.
"You know that guy? He called you by your nickname." Laxus asked, looking at me.
I kept my gaze forward, "No, but he's a Dragon Slayer and a strong one at that. I saw him yesterday and I could smell the dragon scent coming from him. He seems to know Natsu and I though." I answered.
"Their names are Sting and Rogue. I ran into them last night, apparently they're called Third Generation Dragon Slayers." I turned to Natsu who spoke.
"Third? Cobra mentioned something about First and Second Generations, seven years ago but nothing about a Third Generation." I said confused.
"According to them, it's a hybrid of the first and second generations. They were raised by dragons and later had dragon lacrima implanted in them." Lucy answered.
"No wonder I felt like something was different about them." I informed.
"Vez, you need to know something about those two." Natsu stated and turned to me.
"What is it?"
"In order to get stronger and become "true" Dragon Slayers, both of them killed their dragon parents." My eyes widen at that.
"What?!" I yelled in shock.
"Now that's cruel." Laxus commented.
I clenched my teeth, "Those dragons took them in, raised them, taught them their magic and how do they repay them? They kill them! Looking at them right now just makes me sick." Natsu nodded in agreement and we both were glaring at the two Third Generation Dragon Slayers.
"That makes up all the teams that will be participating. Looking at the lineup, do you have any thoughts Mr. Yajima?" Chapati asked.
"Ah, to be young again." Okay then…
"Err, that is't exactly what I meant…" Chapati trailed off.
"The Grand Magic Games program have been unveiled!" Chapati announced.
"There's going to be some contest and a battle everyday?" Gray questioned.
"Just like they said, the third day has a bonus event. I wonder what that's going to be?" I questioned, looking at the board.
"As far as the matches go, this is how the points will be distributed amongst first through 8th place. As the rankings fall the amount of points received decreases. For the contests, you can select anyone from your guild to participate. For the following battle part, the organizers will pair up cards selected from the fans' votes." Chapati informed.
"What the…?" Erza murmured.
"They're going to match us up on their own?" Gray questioned.
"So if you have bad luck, you could use up all your magic power during the contest and end up being selected for the battle." Lucy explained.
"That will definitely make sure that everyone conserves their magic power during the contests." I stated.
"The battle part's rules are simple. Each team will battle, like so. The winning team will receive ten points. The losing team will receive non. If it's a draw, each team will receive five points. Without further ado, I bring you the Grand Magic Games' Opening Game! Let's being "Hidden"! Each team will have one participant. After each team submits their player, I'll explain the rules.
One by one each guild picked their one participant. We were still deciding ours.
"We don't know what to expect with this so we'll have to chose carefully." I advised.
"Judging by the name of the event being "Hidden" it going to involve stealth." Erza guessed.
"Then that leaves me,Natsu, and Elfman out. We're not exactly stealthy fighters." I informed.
"I'll go." I turned my head seeing Lyon going in for Lamia Scale. Well I think I know who's going for our team now.
"In that case, I'll go too. Let's find out just what kind of tournament this really is." Gray volunteered.
"Saw that coming." I said smiling slightly.
"And if Gray goes, I have a feeling Juvia's going to follow." Lucy added.
"If they're sending Gray, then I'll go too!" Lucy and I shared a look hearing Juvia say that. We knew our guildmates too well.
