6x03 Jagged Little Tapestry
"What good is a music store if you don't have the sheet music for Smash?" Kurt asked Noelle and Josh as they browsed the sheet music selection at their local music store hot spot Sunday night.
"I know right?" asked a familiar voice. "It's like a hate crime to show choirs." The three froze as Blaine came into view. With the one person Noelle and Josh didn't expect to see. Karofsky.
"Karofsky," gasped Noelle.
"Say what now," asked Josh surprised.
"Hi Josh, hi Noelle, how are you?" asked Dave Karofsky. "Blaine told me you two got married last year. Congrats. Oh, and I'm really sorry about Finn. And how I treated you guys in high school. I'm not that type of person anymore."
"Thanks, I know," said Noelle, sympathizing with him.
"What are you guys doing here?" asked Kurt.
"Oh, just helping Blaine get his Warbler song list together, it's like pulling teeth to get this guy to lay off Broadway," said Karofsky.
"Yeah same with these two," said Josh, pointing a thumb at Kurt and Noelle. Noelle punched Josh in the arm.
"Ow!" said Josh.
"Hey, I was a Broadway star thank you very much," said Noelle. "I still would be if I hadn't gotten my record contract."
"And you're still mobbed and followed by people when you come home," Josh replied, pointing to the front of the music store where several tweens were standing, waiting for Noelle to possibly give them a minute's worth of attention.
"Well it was good to see you guys, see you later," said Noelle as she and Josh headed towards the excited tweens.
"Yeah, we need to get going, it was good to see you Kurt," said Blaine as he and Dave walked away.
As the two walked away, Kurt looked at Noelle and Josh. Noelle was signing autographs while Josh took pictures for her fans. Kurt started singing as he browsed through the sheet music, not knowing that Blaine was doing the same.
Kurt:
Stayed in bed all morning just to pass the time
There's something wrong here, there can be no denying
One of us is changing
Or maybe we just stopped trying
Blaine:
And it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it
Blaine and Kurt:
Something inside has died
And I can't hide and I just can't fake it
Blaine:
Oh, no, no
Kurt:
No, no
Blaine (with Kurt):
Oh, no, (no, no)
Blaine and Kurt:
No no no no
Blaine:
It used to be so easy living here with you (Kurt: Here with you)
You were light and breezy and I knew just what to do
Kurt:
Now you look so unhappy
Blaine:
And I feel like a fool (Kurt: I feel like a fool)
Blaine and Kurt:
And it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died
And I can't hide and I just can't fake it
Oh, no, no
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Blaine:
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Blaine and Kurt:
Oh whooo oh
Kurt:
There'll be good times again for me and you
Blaine:
But we just can't stay together, don't you feel it, too
Blaine and Kurt:
Still I'm glad for what we had and how I once loved you
Once loved you
But it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died and I can't hide
And I just can't fake it
Oh, no, no, no, no, no
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Oh, it's too late, baby
It's too late, now darling
It's too late
"Noelle, Josh and I ran into Karofsky and Blaine last night," said Kurt.
"I know, Noelle told me," said Rachel as they sat in the choir room going through sheet music.
"And then I had a fantasy of Blaine and me singing 'It's Too Late' all over town," Kurt added.
"Oh no," muttered Rachel.
"Hey! Why don't we use Carole King's seminal breakup album Tapestry as the very first Glee Club lesson?" asked Kurt.
"Yeah, it's great and all but I was thinking it's too much of a downer," said Rachel. "If we're gonna do a breakup album then I think it should be Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill. It's modern, and edgy and angry, and I mean, isn't that the kind of energy we want these new kids expressing?"
"Yeah, these kids have probably never heard Tapestry but I mean, that's what Glee Club is about is to appreciate all kinds of music. Sure Mr. Schue had an obsession with rap and Journey, but I bet if we did Tapestry it would be a great lesson!"
"I'm just worried that this co-teaching thing is going to not work out," said Rachel.
"Well, what if we made it a mash-up?" asked Kurt. "Then we won't have to argue!"
"That's a great idea!" said Rachel.
A short while later, the newbies joined Quinn, Puck, Noelle, Josh, Santana and Brittney in the choir room as Kurt and Rachel came in from the office.
"Welcome everyone to our very first Glee Club rehearsal!" said Rachel and everyone clapped.
"And I would like to extend a big thank you to our distinguished alumni that have graciously agreed to stay an extra week," Rachel continued as everyone clapped again. "So thank you, thank you, thank you!"
"Yeah, exactly how can you guys do that?" asked Jane.
"Oh, I can bend time and space with my mind," said Brittney.
"Okay, so our first lesson is going to be a mashup!" said Kurt. "Two iconic albums, both including the same theme. Breakups."
"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, Jagged Little Tapestry!" said Rachel, revealing the dry erase board and the theme written in gigantic letters with stars around them.
"Carole King and Alanis Morrisette?" said Noelle. "Say what?"
"Too much?" Kurt asked his sister.
"Are you kidding me? I love both of those albums!" said Noelle excitedly. "Can I sing the first song? Can I, can I, can I, huh?" Noelle looked like a little girl on Christmas.
"Oh no, and I thought it was bad that she went from Pop to Country, now Noelle is going Emo," muttered Santana.
"I heard that," hissed Noelle to Santana as Kurt motioned for Noelle to take the floor.
"Okay," said Noelle as she sat at the piano. "If you newbies want to know how it's done, then pay attention. Harmony, Heather, Melissa and I are the original Mashup queens. Unfortunately they had to get back to school and their jobs, but, I will lead you all off with a little inspiration."
Noelle started to play "Ironic" and the group was surprised to see her mash it up with "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman".
Noelle: An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn't it ironic... don't you think
Before the day I met you, life was so unkind
But your love was the key to my peace of mind
It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures
Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
"Well isn't this nice..."
And isn't it ironic... don't you think
'Cause you make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel like
A natural woman
Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face
When my soul was in the lost-and-found
You came along to claim it
I didn't know just what was wrong with me
Till your kiss helped me name it
Now I'm no longer doubtful of what I'm living for
'Cause if I make you happy I don't need to do more
It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures
Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out
You make me feel like
A natural woman
As Noelle ended, the group cheered and clapped.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mrs. Noelle Hudson-Koontz!" said Kurt with a clap. Noelle took a quick curtsy and joined Josh back on the risers.
"You know, I'm pretty sure that our fish ancestors crawled out of the water and grew legs just to be able to scissor," said Santana as she and Brittney laid in Britt's room that evening.
"Well actually," started Brittney, "scissoring was invented by the ancient Egyptians which is weird because scissors weren't invented until many centuries after that! True story!"
Santana laughed.
"You know, I have to say I'm actually enjoying this Back to The Futuresque Glee Club reunion," Santana said as she got up out of the bed and walked over to the vanity. "If not to mess with Berry and her sad fail at Broadway."
"You know why she left," said Brittney.
"I know, and I don't mean to be mean like that," said Santana as she poured a glass of wine. "It's not her fault Finn forgot to use protection and knocked her up, again, before he got hit by that asshole and died. Heck, if I was widowed and left with four children I would come crawling back to Mommy and Daddy with my tail between my legs too. It's a mourning thing. Besides, she told me she did it so the Finchel spawn could see their grandparents and come visit Finn's grave when they were older. I just feel bad for Berry. And Gimpy and Lady Hummel. Finn was a good guy."
"I miss his jokes," said Brittney.
"I do too," said Santana with a laugh. "Life is short."
"So is Noelle," said Brittney and Santana laughed.
"Anyways, I have the perfect mashup idea for us this week," said Santana.
"So do I!" said Brittney.
"I was thinking I Feel The Earth Move and Hand In My Pocket," said Santana.
"I was thinking You Oughta Know by itself," said Brittney. "I refuse to be restrained by the laws of man. I like to think outside of the box."
"No listen, okay, aren't we here to help the glee club get back on top?" asked Santana. "And don't you think that teaching the power of a mashup would totally inspire these kids?"
"Yeah, I may be a math genius but how can I argue with that?" asked Brittney.
The next morning, the glee club gathered in the choir room as Santana and Brittney sang their mashup. The group cheered and clapped along as the two sang.
Santana:
I'm broke but I'm happy
Brittany:
I'm poor but I'm kind
Santana:
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
Brittany:
I'm high but I'm grounded
Santana:
I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful, baby
What it all comes down to
Brittany:
What it all comes down to
Santana:
Is that everything's gonna be
Brittany and Santana:
Fine, fine, fine
Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five
Santana:
Cause I got one hand in my pocket
Brittany:
I feel the earth move under my feet
Santana:
I feel the sky tumbling down (Brittany: Tumbling down)
Santana (and Brittany):
I feel my (heart start to trembling)
Whenever you're around (Brittany: You're around)
What it all comes down to (Brittany: What it all comes down to)
Is that everything's gonna be (quite alright)
Brittany and Santana:
Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is flicking a cigarette
Brittany:
Yeah, I got one hand in my pocket (Santana: Oo, baby)
Baby
Santana:
When I see your face
Brittany and Santana:
Mellow as the month of May
Santana (and Brittany):
Oh, darling (Brittany: Darling)
I can't stand it when you (look at me that way)
Brittany and Santana:
I feel drunk but I'm sober
I'm young and I'm underpaid
I'm tired but I'm working, yeah
Santana:
And what it all comes down to, my friends
Yeah
Is that everything's just (Brittany: I feel the sky tumbling down)
Santana:
Fine, fine, fine
Brittany and Santana (Santana):
(I feel my) heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around
(Well I've got) one hand in my pocket
Santana:
And the other one is playing the piano
Brittany:
I feel the earth move under my feet
Santana:
Well I've got
(Brittany and Santana: One hand in my pocket)
And the other one is playing the piano
Brittany:
I feel the earth move under my feet
Santana:
And what it all comes down to, my friends (Brittany: What it all comes down to)
Yeah, is that everything is just
Brittany and Santana:
Fine, fine, fine
(Santana: Cause I've got) one hand in my pocket
And the other one is hailing a taxi cab
Brittany (and Santana):
I feel the sky (tumbling down)
"Now THAT is how you do a mashup!" said Kurt.
"Hey, what did I do yesterday then?" scowled Noelle.
"Sorry Sis, you're right," said Kurt.
"Actually, as much as I loved your performance yesterday Gimpy, THIS is a mash-up," said Santana as one of the band members handed her a small box.
"Oh my god," said Noelle and Brittney at the same time. There was a gasp from the others as Santana directed Brittney to sit in the chair..
"Britt, can you take a seat? Okay. So, I figure that this is as good a place as any to ask you this question. Um, mainly because it's gonna really upset all the single guys and gals in here. But I want to mash up with you forever, Britt. I mean, some people love someone because they make them a better person, and that's not why I love you, because you've always just wanted me to be myself. You're my favorite person in the whole world, and we're a big deal, you know? Like, no matter how many times we've tried to put our thing down and walk away from it, we can't because I don't want to live my life without my one true I normally use a lot of words when I'm saying something negative, so since this is the most positive thing I'm ever gonna do, I'm gonna keep it simple. Brittany S. Pierce will you marry me?"
"Wait, what is happening?" asked Roderick.
"This kind of thing happens in here all the time. Just go with it," said Puck, thinking back to when he proposed to Quinn. A smile crossed Quinn's face at the memory of getting her Yale letter and Puck proposing to her.
"Oh, my God. I would love to," said Brittney.
"Really?" asked Santana with a grin.
"I would love to," said Brittney
Everyone clapped and cheered as Santana slid on the ring she had been holding out in front of Brittney and the two kissed and hugged.
"Oh, my God. I'm sorry. I-I just have to speak now or forever hold my peace," said Kurt, interrupting the happy moment.
"Um, normally you save that kind of thing for the wedding," said Quinn.
"Did you learn nothing from me and Blaine? We're too young to get married. All of us," said Kurt.
"Excuse me?" asked Noelle and Quinn in unison, irritated.
"Kurt, what are you talking about? You have been nothing but supportive of those of us that are already married," said Rachel.
"You're twenty almost twenty-one and widowed with four children, Rachel," said Kurt. "I always thought you and Finn were too young to get married. I was right. My brother died stupidly before he could even meet his second set of fraternal twins."
"Kurt Hummel!" shouted an appalled Noelle. "I can't believe you! How can you say that? Finn was our brother! You loved him as much as I did! As much as any of us did!"
"And we shouldn't have moved to New York," said Kurt.
"Finn saved my life! I would have been the one in that damn casket! Not him!" said Noelle as she stood up. "There's a reason why I married Josh a month after Finn died. Because if I wait too long I might still not be alive because of my MS! Britt, Santana, I'm happy for you two, but excuse me, I need to be alone." As Noelle walked out of the room to an astonished Kurt and the rest of the glee club, Quinn broke her silence.
"Well, I for one think you two deserve this," said Quinn as she and Puck hugged Brittney and Santana. The others except for Kurt gathered around the newly engaged couple and congratulated him when Roderick spoke up in question.
"Who's Finn?" asked Roderick puzzled.
Noelle sat on the edge of the auditorium stage, sniffling as she held the plaque honoring her late brother's memory in her lap.
"How could he say something like that, Finn?" asked Noelle. "How could Kurt be so horrible to all of us? I know he's upset cause him and Blaine broke up, but he of all people should know how short life is. Time is precious. I miss you big bro, I miss you so much."
"Noelle?"
Noelle turned to find Rachel and the others sans Kurt enter the auditorium.
"Oh, hi guys, I was just talking to Finn," said Noelle, wiping her eyes and getting up. "I was just putting him back." Noelle walked over to the wall and placed the plaque back in the spot that Mr. Schuester had put Finn and Lilian Adler's plaques the year before.
"Okay, I am asking again, who's Finn?" asked Roderick, confused as to why the group was now in the auditorium.
"New members, Finn Hudson was my late husband and one of the original members of the New Directions, and the father of the four adorable babies that you will soon meet," said Rachel.
"He and Rachel got married a month and a half after our glee club advisor Mr. Schue and his wife got married our senior year of high school," added Quinn. "Finn was our best friend."
"He was the Quarterback," said Puck, wrapping his arm around Quinn. "He was our leader."
"He was my big brother, and he always put my needs before his," said Noelle. "When I was 12, I was diagnosed with MS and I was in a wheelchair. Finn was thirteen. Finn went on to the Eighth grade, and I was forced to repeat my seventh grade year since I had fallen so far behind. I was too smart for the classes I was taking, but my teachers and the principal decided that I shouldn't be left out of the loop. They were afraid that if I just moved on to the Eighth Grade, I wouldn't be on par with the rest of the kids. So I was held back. But there was a slight problem. When Finn graduated Eighth Grade, we had to move out of the apartment. There just wasn't enough room for us in it anymore. So instead of going to the high school just on the outskirts of town close to the apartments, we had to go to McKinley because of where the house is. At the end of my eighth grade year, the superintendent decided that I should be a sophomore when I took a placement test to see where I stood education-wise. Mom was thrilled that Finn and I were in the same grade again. Finn and I didn't know anyone, because obviously, all of our friends were at the other high school. Puck and Quinn were the only ones who knew me, because they were always over after football games. They promised Finn and I and we all agreed at the start of Sophomore year, that we should try to avoid letting the bullies know who I was. Puck was worried that Finn might get crap for having a disabled sister, but the three of them agreed to watch my back if they could."
"And then Finn opened his big mouth one day and Noelle ended up joining the New Directions," said Josh. "And then I did and the rest is history."
"What happened to him?' asked Madison. "How did he die?"
"When we were living in New York, Noelle and I were on our way home from Wicked rehearsals with Finn and Josh. The night before was the night that Finn and I had, er, conceived the second set of twins," blushed Rachel. "Anyways, we had the walk sign in a crosswalk near the daycare where Reagan and William, our oldest twins, were at, when a drunk driver came speeding down the street. Finn pushed Noelle out of the way of the speeding car and got hit."
The newbies gasped.
"Finn saved my life, I would be dead if it wasn't for him," said Noelle as Josh wrapped a consoling arm around his wife. Quinn and Puck did the same with Rachel.
"Oh, that's sad," said Madison. "I'm so sorry."
"Kurt was our biggest supporter in our marriages, I have no idea why the sudden change of heart," murmured Noelle as she looked at Finn's plaque. "Kurt looked up to him so much. When it came out that Kurt and I were brother and sister, Finn was so glad to have an older brother. Not by a lot, but you know, Finn was Kurt's brother as Kurt was his."
"Noelle?"
The group turned to see Kurt standing there, looking depressed. Santana was seething still from his outburst earlier. Rachel broke the ice as the bell rang.
"Class dismissed!" Rachel said to the newbies. As the newbies left, the alumni waited to hear what Kurt had to say.
"Noelle, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-"
"Kurt, I just I don't think you're being supportive," said Noelle.
"You're right. I'm not being supportive," replied Kurt. "I'm not gonna support something that I know from personal experience is a horrible decision that they're going to regret."
Just then, to everyone's horror, Santana started ranting off a spew of hate towards Kurt.
"Kurt," started Santana, "I took what you said to heart, and I thought long and hard about it, and it occurred to me that you may have a point. Okay, maybe Brittany and I are too young to get married.
"I mean, after all, that's why it didn't work out with you and Blaine, right? Or maybe it didn't work out because you're a judgmental little gerontophile with a mouth like a cat's ass.
"Maybe Blaine got tired of hearing your shrill, self-aggrandizing lecture about how you felt the two of you were at the very apex of the gay rights movement every time you so much as cooked macaroni and cheese together or farted.
"Maybe Blaine didn't want to be with someone who looks like they just removed their top row of dentures every time they smile or someone who doesn't dress like an extra out of one of Andy Dick's more elaborate wet dreams.
"Maybe Blaine grew weary of dating a breathier, more feminine Quinn Fabray.
"Maybe he finally got freaked out by your strange obsession with old people that causes you to skulk around nursing homes like one of those cats that can smell cancer.
"Maybe he got tired of watching you drape yourself on every piano you happen to pass to entertain exactly no one with, say, some song that Judy Garland choked on her tongue in the middle of or some sassy old Broadway standard made famous by another dead alcoholic crone.
"Maybe Blaine woke up one day and said, 'You know what, I don't want to marry a sexless, self-centered baton twirler'.
"Maybe I need someone who knows more than three dance moves.
"The finger wag, the shoulder shimmy and the one where you pretend to twirl two invisible rainbow-colored ribbons attached to your hips. So, you know what, maybe that's why it didn't work out. Maybe it has nothing to do with me and Brittany. Maybe it's just that you are utterly, utterly intolerable. Maybe that has something to do with it."
As Santana walked away with Brittney, the others looked at each other in horror.
"Ouch," muttered Josh.
A couple days later, the group had gathered back in the auditorium for Mason and Jane's performance.
Jane:
Tonight, you're mine completely
You give your love so sweetly
Tonight, the light of love is in your eyes
Mason with Jane (Jane):
But will you love me tomorrow? (Hey, yeah)
Mason:
Ooh, I had no choice but to hear you
You stated your case time and again
I thought about it, yeah
Jane (Mason):
You treat me like I'm a princess (You're a princess)
I'm not used to liking that
Mason with Jane (Mason):
You ask how my day was
(Oh!) You've already won me over,
In spite of me,
And don't be alarmed if I fall,
Head over feet,
And don't be surprised if I love you,
For all that you are (Yeah!)
Will you still love me tomorrow? (Yeah!)
Jane (with Mason):
(Tonight) with words
(Mason: With words) (unspoken)
Jane (Mason):
(Oh) When the night (When then night)
Meets the morn- (Meets the morn-)
(Jane and Mason: -ning sun!)
Mason with Jane (Jane):
(You've already won me over!)
In spite of me,
And don't be alarmed if I fall,
Head over feet
Don't be surprised if I love you,
(Mason: For all that you are) (All that you are!)
Will you still love me (tomorrow?)
(Mason: You've already won me over)
Will you still love me tomorrow? Oh, yeah…
Will you still love me tomorrow?
Yeah, yeah
The group cheered and clapped.
"Yay!" cried Rachel.
"Great job, you guys! I loved the enthusiasm and the emotion," said Noelle.
"Great kick-off performance," said Puck.
"Yay! I think the singing could have been a whole step higher," said Kurt. "Mason, your cheerleader could have used choreography. You know, give it variety, complexity."
"Kurt, it was their first time," said Josh.
"Have you forgotten what the competition looks like? You're forgetting how hard Mr. Schue had to push us to be champions," said Kurt. Rachel dragged him off the stage by the hand.
"Come with me."
"I am here, and you are just sabotaging that," said Kurt.
"My problem is, you're just telling these kids what they want to hear," said Rachel.
"We are in this to win it, and we are a long way from it. Brutal honesty's our only hope."
You know, these clashes that you're creating, they are not proactive, and they're hurting the team, and right now, I think that you should just go home, and I'm gonna take it from here today," said Rachel.
Meanwhile, Sam and Coach Sylvester had been in the locker room confronting Coach Bieste about her illness. It turned out that Coach Bieste was not sick. In fact, she was in the process of transitioning from a woman to a man. When Sam told the alumni the news, they were shocked but the group went to see Coach Bieste and told her (well, him) that he had their full support. At the end of the week, the group was gathered in the auditorium for one last lesson before the alumni sans Rachel and Kurt had to get back to their normal lives. Brittney was sitting behind the newbies, while Rachel, Kurt, Noelle and Josh stood in front of the newbies. Santana, Quinn and Puck were nowhere to be found.
"Before we wrap things up, Kurt and I just wanted to say together that we're very proud of you guys," said Rachel.
"Although we've just begun to jell as a team, we learned this week that two very different styles of teaching, although may clash sometimes, yield very important lessons learned," added Kurt.
"That sort of sounded like you were congratulating yourselves," said Roderick.
"You get used to it," said Josh, who was standing next to Noelle.
"Guys, the point being is that we took our inner Caroles and our inner Alanises Uh, Alani." Noelle started, "We took the jagged and the smooth, the angry and the sad, and the joyful, and created something new."
"Mash-ups aren't always pretty. But they're worth the risk," said Brittney.
"Now we know you guys are ready," said Rachel.
"Ready for what?" asked Madison.
"The road to sectionals," smiled Rachel. The newbies smiled as Jane let out a surprised and happy scoff as music started playing and the alumni began to sing.
Alumni: Do-do, do-do, do, do, do doo (continuously)
Rachel:
Oh
I recommend getting your heart trampled on to anyone, yeah
Oh
I recommend walking around naked in your living room, yeah
Santana appeared from behind the curtain of the doorway and walked over to Britt.
Santana (with Brittany):
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To (brighten up even your darkest night)
Rachel:
Woah, yeah, yeah
Rachel with Alumni and New Directions:
You live, you learn
You love, you learn
You cry, you learn
You lose, you learn (Kurt: Winter, spring, summer or fall)
You bleed, you learn
You scream, you learn (Santana: And I'll be there, yeah)
The alumni motioned for the newbies to follow them on stage. They obliged and were joined by Puck and Quinn, who entered from Stage Right.
Josh (Santana and Noelle):
All you have to do is call (You've got a friend)
Ain't it good to know that you've got a friend
Kurt with Quinn:
When people can be so cold
Quinn:
They'll hurt you, yes, and desert you
Quinn with Alumni and New Directions:
And take your soul if you let them (Alumni and New Directions: If you let them)
Kurt:
Oh, but don't you let them
Rachel:
Woah, yeah, yeah (Alumni and New Directions: You just call out my name)
Rachel with Alumni and New Directions:
You live, you learn
You love, you learn
You cry, you learn
You lose, you learn
Josh and Noelle (Alumni and New Directions):
You just call out my name (Just call, just call)
And you know wherever I am (Wherever I am)
I'll come runnin' (You live, you learn)
To see you again (You love, you learn)
Rachel with Alumni and New Directions:
You cry, you learn
You lose, you learn (Kurt: Winter, spring, summer or fall)
You bleed, you learn
You scream, you learn (Kurt: All you have to do is call)
Noelle with Josh, Rachel, Alumni and New Directions (Alumni and New Directions):
(You just call out my name) You live, you learn
You love, you learn
You cry, you learn
You lose, you learn
(You just call out my name) You bleed, you learn
You scream, you learn
You grieve, you learn (You've got a friend)
You choke, you learn (You've got a friend)
You laugh, you learn (You've got a friend)
You choose, you learn (Kurt: Oh, yes I will) (You've got a friend)
Rachel and Santana:
You learn (Kurt: Oh, yes I will)
Noellewith Alumni and New Directions:
You've got a friend
Rachel (Kurt and Noelle):
It's good to know (Ain't it good to know)
You've got a friend (You've got a friend)
It's good to know
Rachel with Kurt:
You've got a friend
"Bye you guys! We love you!" said Noelle as Rachel, Kurt, Josh, Puck, Quinn, and herself watched Brittney and Santana leave McKinley that afternoon. They were going to Brittney's to tell her parents of the engagement.
"We better get back as well," said Quinn. "Beth and Alex spent the day with our moms before we go back to New York."
"I wish you two would consider moving back here," said Noelle. "Wouldn't it be easier so Puck doesn't have to fly home when he deploys out of Wright-Patterson everytime?"
"Actually," started Quinn.
"Quinn and I ARE moving back," said Puck.
"What? What about Pace?" asked Josh.
"I'm going to finish my last semester online," said Quinn. "I talked to Professor Lipton and he agrees that being closer to the base would be easier for all of us. He was more than happy to get me registered for the online classes I need to finish my degree. So we'll go back for the rest of the semester and sell the brownstone and move back over the winter break."
"If you two need any help finding or getting a place, you let us know," said Noelle.
"Yeah, Noelle and I will be more than happy to help you with the down payment for a nice house or something," said Josh.
"I think the brownstone sale will cover it but thanks," said Puck, clapping Josh on the shoulder.
"Bye guys, we'll see you soon! There will be a wedding to prepare for!" said Kurt as the group hugged. Puck and Quinn headed off. Noelle and Josh turned to Rachel and Kurt.
"Alright, you two hungry? My treat," said Noelle. "Or better yet, let's go back to the house and order take-out and have a movie night before we fly back to Nashville tomorrow afternoon."
"Sounds good to me," said Kurt as they headed to their cars. "What shall it be, Mamma Mia?"
"Heck no, I was thinking a trip down memory lane to be honest," said Noelle.
"What's that?" asked Rachel.
"I was thinking of pulling out the DVDs from our productions of Grease and West Side Story and laugh at ourselves and how silly we looked," trailed Noelle.
"Now THAT is a great idea!" laughed Kurt.
