Deleted Scene 6 S5 Goodbye Glee Club

"I can't believe the New Directions lost to Throat Explosion!" Noelle sighed in exasperation to Josh as they sat in the Brownstone.

"I just can't believe Sue Sylvester is shutting down the Glee Club," Quinn replied sadly as she colored with Beth.

"Can't we do anything about it" Rachel asked. "I mean, we're a National Championship Show Choir! Surely the school board can do something about it."

"Will said there's no funding for it," Noelle replied, shaking her head. "At least that's what Superintendent Harris said."

"It's finally happening, our legacy is over," Josh said, hanging his head low.

"Have you talked to Puck?" Noelle asked Quinn. Quinn shook her head.

"No, I called and left him a message but he must have been out on the course training," Quinn replied.

"It's been two months, his training should be over soon," murmured Noelle.

"It was over four days ago," said a voice. The group gasped and turned to see Puck standing there, his military bag over his shoulder.

"DADDY!" cried Beth as she got out of her chair and ran up to Puck. Puck set his bag down and scooped up Beth into his arms.

"Oh, Hi Monkey Face, I missed you so much!" said Puck.

"I missed you too!" said Beth as the others came over to him. Well, Quinn waddled.

"You're back!" said Noelle excitedly as Puck set Beth down and Noelle hugged him.

"I'm alive and in one piece," Puck proclaimed proudly. Josh hugged Puck next.

"Welcome home, Bro," said Josh. "We missed you."

"Thanks Dude," said Puck. "Hi my Jewish American Princess." Rachel smiled and hugged her friend.

"I'm so glad you're back safe and sound, Noah," said Rachel.

"Finn looked after me, just like I knew he would," said Puck. He turned to his pregnant wife, her seven and a half month belly protruding under her sweater. Quinn's eyes were brimming with tears.

"I've missed you so much," said Quinn in between kisses as she launched herself at her husband.

"I've missed you more," said Puck, kissing her back. "And how's my big boy doing?" He leaned down and kissed her belly. "Hey Alex, Daddy's home."

"Well, Big is right," Quinn said. "The doctor said Alex's going to be either super long and or nine or ten pounds. He's already at 18 inches and six pounds, and he's not due for a month and a half."

"Reincarnation anyone?" Noelle teased, referring to Finn's towering stature. "Mom said Finn was the same way."

"Then I would really laugh," said Puck. "So what did I miss?"

"The New Directions got second at Nationals and Sue's shutting down the Glee Club," Rachel scowled. "Mr. Schue's invited everyone back for the last two weeks of school before Sam and them graduate to say goodbye and pack up the room."

"Great, then what?" Puck scowled.

"She's turning the choir room into a computer lab," Josh scowled. "She persuaded the school board the school needs computers and not music."

"Dad's trying to get some help from the other members of Congress to pass a law about keeping Fine Arts in public schools but it could take months," added Noelle. "Mom and Dad are going to be in DC for a few weeks so Josh and I agreed to house-sit for them."

"What about Wicked?" Puck asked.

"The producer gave us time off," Rachel replied. "Our opening night is going to be in a couple months while we learn the ropes from the girls that are leaving. The producer's been aware about Finn's death and all this and he's giving us extra time to grieve. He knows what it's like. He lost his wife to a drunk driver a few years ago."

"That's horrible," Puck replied.

"It is," nodded Noelle.

"Well, I may have just gotten back, but I'm ready to head home to Lima to say goodbye," said Puck.

"We're driving back tonight," said Noelle. "Josh has the van loaded with our things. It's a good thing you got here when you did or you would have come home to two empty brownstones."

Just then a cry came from the baby monitor signaling one of the twins was up from their nap.

"I'll get her, it's Reagan," Rachel replied, heading upstairs. "Hang on Rea, Mommy's coming!"

As Rachel disappeared out of view, the others turned back to Puck.

"Are you hungry? Dinner's just about ready," said Quinn.

"Sure, I'm starving," said Puck.

A couple days later, Rachel, Noelle, and Mercedes were walking down the halls of McKinley, the others in tow.

Don't get me wrong, thought Noelle.

I know this is a sad day for McKinley and that we've come back to reflect on everything the glee club has meant to us...Rachel also thought.

But still, I figured they'd at least put up a poster saying "Welcome back, Mercedes.", thought Mercedes.

I mean, look, no confetti! thought Noelle.

No red carpet even though I called! thought Mercedes.

We're the biggest Broadway Stars... Noelle and Rachel thought.

I'm the biggest recording artist...added Mercedes in thought.

...this school's ever produced! The three thought in unison.

What the hell?! Rachel and Noelle thought.

What happened? Mercedes thought as they all entered the choir room. The three looked at each other as the "Rachel" chair sat front and center. The three looked at each other and they made a mad dash for the chair. Rachel beat them to it and Mercedes rolled her eyes as Noelle sighed and took the seat next to Rachel.

"I'll just make my way to the back of the bus," Mercedes muttered as everyone else sat down and Will entered the room.

"Hey, can I get Finn's plaque when we clear this place out?" Puck asked Will.

"No, the plaque stays here," Will replied. "Lillian and Finn belong here at McKinley. It means so much to me that so many of you came back on such short notice to celebrate the past few years. To sit in this room one last time and sing. Your assignment is to sing one of the songs we sang in here, but reinvented in some way. Way back in the old days when I started the glee club, I would give an assignment, and then I would I would give a little demonstration of what I was looking for."

The group cheered.

"Yeah! See, you all cheer now, but just wait till he starts rapping," replied Santana.

"Okay, no hip-hop today, Santana," laughed Will. "However, I have asked a very special person to come join me. And it seemed appropriate since her contributions helped save the glee club, or at least the auditorium way back when. Please welcome, all the way from Broadway, Miss April Rhodes!"

Noelle widened her eyes in horror as everyone clapped and cheered as April entered the room.

"Hey, y'all!" said April.

"You know, she once taught me how to shoplift meat in my vagina," Tina whispered to Marley.

"Ew," Marley whispered back.

"Right?" Tina replied.

So, Mr. Moneybags says to me, he says, "April Rhodes, you sing like an angel "and make love like a tiger. "But the old ball and chain's got your number. So I'm afraid I gots to set you loose. So, you know what he did? He bought me an island! That's right. I own my own island in the Caribbean called Santa Aprilrodeo. It's not war-torn or filled with landslides or got destitute locals in it. Just me and my manservant Kadeem. With long, sensuous nights full of home-brewed poi and intimate massage..."

"Okay, thank you, April, for that wonderful lesson in female empowerment," said Will, cutting her off as the group gathered around the piano.

"Amen! Amen, but why are we all holding these plastic champagne flutes?" asked Harmony.

"Cause we are about to pop the cork with some bubbly!" said April. "But don't worry, this Spumante is virgin." She pointed at Unique. "Probably like you will be for a long time! Anyways Will and I want you to raise your glass to celebrate the glee club by singing hands down the best song New Directions ever did."

"Wait a second, the New Directions never sang Raise Your Glass, the Warblers did that," Blaine replied.

"I was wondering why it didn't annoy me every time I heard it in my head," said April as she held a sparkling cider bottle in her head. "I always have had a soft spot in my heart for you prep school boys."

"Well..." started Blaine. April grabbed his nose.

"Honk! Hit it, boys!" cried April as the band started to play.

April:

Right right, turn off the lights

"You know, I think the Unholy Trinity needs to go out with a bang," said Quinn as she sat with Brittany and Santana in the auditorium an hour later. "What do you think?"

"I think you're right, Mrs. Puckerman, but can you dance while preggers with Puck 2.0 still cooking?" Santana replied snarkily.

"There's only one way to find out," smirked Quinn. "It might turn Puck on though."

"Maybe that's a good thing," Brittany replied with a laugh.

A short while later, they were in the choir room dressed in their old Cheerios uniforms. To Quinn's shock, she could still magically fit in hers despite her rather large belly.

Brittany, Quinn, and Santana:

Ah, ah, ah-ah-ah-ah

Ah, ah, ah-ah-ah-ah

Quinn:

Baby, can't you see

I'm calling

A guy like you

Should wear a warning

It's dangerous

I'm fallin'

Brittany:

There's no escape

I can't wait

I need a hit

Baby, give me it

You're dangerous

I'm lovin' it

Quinn with Brittany and Santana:

Too high, can't come down

Losing my head, spinning round and round

Do you feel me now

Santana with Brittany and Quinn (Quinn):

With a taste of your lips I'm on a ride

You're toxic, I'm slipping (Brittany and Santana: under)

(With a taste) of a poison paradise

Brittany with Quinn and Santana:

I'm addicted to you

Don't you know that you're toxic

And I love what you do

Don't you know that you're toxic

Brittany, Quinn, and Santana:

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Santana:

It's getting late

To give you up

I took a sip

From my devil's cup

Slowly

It's taking over me

Quinn with Brittany and Santana:

Too high, can't come down

It's in the air and it's all around

Can you feel me now

Santana with Brittany and Quinn (Quinn):

With a taste of your lips I'm on a ride

You're toxic, I'm slipping (Brittany and Santana: under)

(With a taste) of a poison paradise

Brittany with Quinn and Santana:

I'm addicted to you

Don't you know that you're toxic

And I love what you do

Don't you know that you're toxic

Brittany (Quinn and Santana):

Don't you know that you're toxic (Ah-ah-ah-ah)

Brittany, Quinn, and Santana:

Oh, o-oh, ah-ah-ah

Oh, o-oh, ah-ah-ah

Quinn with Brittany (and Santana):

With a taste of your lips (I'm on a ride)

You're (toxic, I'm slipping) (Brittany and Santana: under)

(Quinn: With a taste) of a poison paradise (Santana: Oh-oh-oh-oh)

Brittany with Quinn (and Santana):

I'm addicted to (you)

Don't you (know that you're) (Brittany and Santana:toxic)

Quinn with Brittany (and Santana):

(Quinn: With a taste) of your lips I'm on a (ride)

You're toxic (I'm slipping) (Santana: under) (Brittany: Toxic)

(Quinn: With a taste) of a poison paradise

Brittany with Quinn (and Santana):

(I'm addicted to you)

Don't you (know that you're toxic)

Brittany and Quinn (Santana):

Intoxicate me now (Ooh)

With your lovin' now (Ooh)

I think I'm ready now

Quinn (Santana):

I think I'm ready now (Ooh)

Brittany and Quinn (Santana):

Intoxicate me now (Ooh)

With your lovin' now (Ooh)

I think I'm ready now

Brittany, Quinn and Santana:

Ah-ah-ah-ah

"Hot damn!" Artie hollered as the group clapped and cheered.

Now that is what I'm talking about, kiddos!" said Will. Everyone turned to look at Puck and noticed he was sitting there with his jaw agape.

"You okay Puckerman?" Noelle teased.

"Er, would anyone mind if I borrowed my wife for an hour?" Puck ask as he got up.

"Told you," Quinn giggled to Santana and Brittany and the group hollered as the couple quickly exited the choir room.

The next day, the group sat in the choir room as Noelle, Mercedes, and Rachel stood in front of the group.

"Okay y'all, so Rachel, Mercedes and I have been having a debate and we need to settle it," Noelle replied. "We need to figure out which one of us is the real Diva of McKinley."

"And with that, we're going to sing something that will decide who the real Diva is," Rachel added. "Not to mention it will give Noelle and I some practice before our opening night in Wicked."

"Oh god, not Defying Gravity," muttered Kurt.

"You're right as usual, Big Brother," Noelle replied with a smile. "Hit it Boys!"

Mercedes:

Something has changed within me

Something is not the same

Noelle:

I'm through with playing by the rules

Of someone else's game

Rachel:

Too late for second guessing

Too late to go back to sleep

Mercedes:

It's time to trust my instincts

Close my eyes and leap!

Noelle:

It's time to try defying gravity

Mercedes:

I think I'll try defying gravity

Rachel:

Kiss me goodbye, I'm defying gravity

Mercedes:

And you won't bring me down, no

Rachel:

I'm through accepting limits

'Cause someone says they're so

Mercedes:

Some things I cannot change

But till I try I'll never know!

Noelle:

Too long I've been afraid of

Losing love I guess I've lost

Well, if that's love

It comes at

Rachel and Noelle:

much too high a cost...

Mercedes:

I'd sooner buy defying gravity

Rachel:

Kiss me goodbye

Noelle:

I'm defying gravity

Rachel:

I think I'll try defying gravity

Mercedes:

And you won't bring me down

Noelle:

I'd sooner buy defying gravity

Mercedes:

Kiss me goodbye I'm defying gravity

Rachel:

I think I'll try defying gravity

Noelle:

And you won't bring me down

Noelle and Rachel:

Bring me down (Mercedes: down)

Everyone clapped and cheered.

"Well?" Rachel asked.

"You're all stars," Josh replied. "That was great!"

"Yeah, you guys," said Melissa. "There's no way that any of us could ever decide who the real star is. You all are."

"Okay, then it's settled," said Will. "The three of you are McKinley's Shining Stars."

"Finn was right when he called you that," Noelle said to Rachel and Rachel nodded sadly as she looked up at her husband's memorial plaque.

"He's proud of you, Rach, don't ever think for once he wasn't," said Mercedes as she put a hand on her shoulder.

Just then, April Rhodes entered the choir room.

"Well everyone, I think I have solved the answers to all our problems!" said April enthusiastically.

"You found money for the Glee Club?" Will asked.

"What? No! I'm broke as a toe that was smashed by an SUV tire," April quipped drunkenly. "Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Holly Holliday!"

The group gasped and cheered as their favorite substitute teacher entered the room, sliding across the floor.

"Hola, clase," said Holly. She turned to April. "April, thank you for buttering the floor for me. You know I like to make an entrance."

"Wait, I'm-I'm sorry," interrupted Will.

"How-how do you two know each other?" Rachel finished.

"Oh, because there's a whole Facebook page for people who were guests of Glee Club," said Holly. "I'm on it, April, Blaine's brother, Rachel's mom, that Mexican guy."

"Holly, this is amazing," continued Will. "Where have you been?"

"Oh, I've been everywhere," said Holly. "I quit being a substitute teacher because I couldn't stand being tied down. I like teaching a room full of kids if I know I'm never gonna see them again, but then, if you're any good at it, they keep asking you back, which kind of defeats the purpose. So, I started my trademark Holly Holliday Teachin' Pop-Ups. I just show up at a classroom unannounced, teach a lesson and get the hell out of when I heard Glee Club was ending, I ripped off my Pol Pot uniform, hopped on that first flight out of Buenos Aires and came to pay my respects."

"Uh, Holly, you know that we're singing our favorite Glee Club songs we've already sung before," said Josh.

"That's a terrible idea! Listen, that might be fine for you nerds, but when Holly Holliday is in town, this hot bitch is not looking in the rearview mirror; she's looking forward. Hit it!"

Holly:

It might seem crazy what I'm 'bout to say

Sunshine she's here, you can take a break

I'm a hot air balloon that could go to space

With the air like 'I don't care,' baby by the way, huh!

Holly with April and Will (Alumni, New Directions):

(Because I'm happy)

Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof

(Because I'm happy)

Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth

"I want to show you guys something," said Will as he led the original members of the New Directions into the auditorium. "All of you that were together from the very beginning when the glee club was just a dream."

The group came to a stop in front of Finn and Lillian's plaques, that now rested on a wall in the backstage of the auditorium. The same place where Noelle had spied on the group singing Don't Stop Believing all those years ago.

"Their new and final resting places," said Will, motioning to the plaques. "For as long as McKinley's around, all the students who travel through this auditorium are gonna see these."

"And have absolutely no idea who they are," said Artie and everyone laughed.

"You know what? This is crazy," said Santana. "Because I could really give two poops about this place, but this is really getting to me."

"I know," said Quinn as she rested her hand on her belly and Puck wrapped an arm around her. "Why is that?"

"We were all raised by different parents," said Will. "But we grew up together in the glee club. It's a part of all of us. Of course you're sad about it."

"I don't know, Mr. Schue," said Josh as Noelle and Rachel fought back tears. "With this and Finn, it's kind of hard to believe that anything lasts."

"I don't have any more pep talks," said Will. "I just have you guys. And the memory of the people on this wall. My friends."

"We share this special bond," said Noelle. "We're the only ones in the world who-who know what this glee club meant to us. What it felt like to sing together. To be to be together. And what it feels like to say good-bye to it."

"I didn't come here to cheer you up," Will continued. "Just to thank you. To thank you for going on this ride with me."

The group gathered Will in a giant group hug as he fought back tears.

"All right, come on," said Will as he wiped away tears. "We've still got a few days until, uh, Sue shuts the lights out on the choir room, so let's make the most of them."

The group nodded and walked away together while up in the rafters, April and Holly watched everything unfold.

"I mean, I know we got to finish our wine first," Holly started.

"Mmm," agreed April.

"But when we do, we cannot let that glee club go the way of the dodo!" Holly finished.

"Oh, couldn't have said it better myself," said April. "Holly Holliday, we're going to save that glee club."

"Hey Big Bro," said Noelle, looking at the plaque the next day. She looked up at the ceiling. "I wish you were here right now, we could really use you. Rachel misses you so much. She's using Wicked as a means of strength, but I still hear her cry every night. How she's going to get through opening night, I don't know."

Just then, she saw Rachel sitting on the stage.

"Rach? What's wrong?" Noelle asked as she looked at Rachel, who was fiddling with her wedding ring and fighting back tears.

"I'm pregnant, Noelle," said Rachel. "Again."

"What?" whispered Noelle breathlessly. "Are you sure? It's Finn's, right?"

"Of course it's Finn's. I'm fourteen weeks along," said Rachel. "The baby was conceived the night before Finn died."

"Oh my god. What about Wicked?" asked Noelle breathlessly.

"I don't know," whispered Rachel. "Noelle, I'm scared. How am I going to raise three babies by myself?"

Later that afternoon, the group had Will come into the auditorium and had him play a video. Rachel came on the screen.

"Hey," said the image of Rachel. "So, we don't actually know your name yet, because this video was made before you were born." Noelle joined Rachel on screen.

"You are the son or daughter of our teacher, Will Schuester," added Noelle. "You know, many of us don't get to know our dads as men until they're older. Past middle age, maybe a little beaten down in life..."

Mercedes came on the screen.

"But we wanted to tell you what your dad was like when he was young..."

"When he could dance like Fred Astaire," came Mike's image, sitting in the auditorium.

"And sing like Michael Buble," added Marley.

"He was an amazing teacher," added Josh.

"If it wasn't for your dad, I would never have been Prom Queen," said Tina, "or gotten over my fake stutter." Will raised an eyebrow at this. "You had to be there," added Tina.

"Okay, it may seem a little weird to you," said Santana as she and Brittney sat next to each other, "but back here in the dark ages, it was still crazy for girls to love girls, and for guys to love guys." Brittney motioned her finger between her and Santana. "But your dad made sure that we felt safe loving whoever we chose."

"He does this magic trick where he pulls a duck out of his hat," added Brittney, "you should have him show you sometime." Will laughed.

"Now your dad had a passion for teaching," came Sam's voice. Will laughed at Sam's outfit as he had dressed exactly like Will did. "He really loved that moment where he connected with the kids. And he was prone to overly offering inspiring pep talks."

Quinn, Puck and Beth came on next.

"Quinn and I had Beth here when we were sixteen," said Puck. "I wasn't the nicest guy."

"And I wasn't exactly Susie Homemaker," added Quinn as she held Beth close to her. "But your dad was there for us, every step of the way. He made sure we were in a safe place during school when Beth would come with us."

"Uncle Will is the best!" added Beth, causing Will to laugh.

"I can say without a doubt," said Kurt as he came on screen, "that your dad saved my life. Little Hepburn and Tracy wouldn't have a father if it wasn't for him. Those are the names of my kids who aren't born yet."

"We used a surrogate," added Blaine, poking his head on camera.

"I donated the egg," joked Quinn, poking her head back in.

"In the whole wide world, you'd never meet a man more accepting and open to all the wonders of the world than your father did. He's a gem," said Unique.

"The best thing about your dad, and that horrible perm of his," started Coach Sylvester, "is that no matter how talent was misshapen, ugly, miserable, or sexually ambiguous as you are, he will still love you unconditionally."

The screen reverted to Noelle, who stood backstage in the auditorium, holding Finn's plaque. Will teared up a bit.

"This was my brother Finn," said Noelle. "Finn died almost two months ago after he pushed me out of the way of a drunk driver and got hit instead. Finn saved my life. Your dad was the first person to make my brother feel like he had a father-figure. Finn was the leader of this glee club from the day your dad blackmailed him into joining. Your dad will tell you. Your dad is sneaky. If Finn were here, he would say nothing but wonderful things about your dad."

"Your dad made sure that everyone in this school understood what it was like to view the world from this chair," said Artie as he sat in his wheelchair. "He helped me see all that I could be even though I'm in this chair," added Artie. "He is the most genuine..."

"Honest..." said Kurt.

"Kind..." said Josh.

"Generous..." said Santana.

"Sand Dollar..." said Brittney with a look of "What the Fuck" from everyone else.

"Amazing man any of us have ever met," said Rachel as the screen switched to her and Noelle. "He loved and looked after everyone of us with as much care and concern as he does for you. We love your Dad. We love him very, very much."

"And no matter where we are, or what we're doing," added Noelle as the introduction to "Don't Stop Believing" started in the auditorium, "he's with us. Because we have his name tattooed in our hearts."

The video ended and the curtain closed over the projector screen and raised to show Rachel standing there and she started to sing.

New Directions (continuously): Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da

Rachel:

Just a small town girl

Livin' in a lonely world

She took the midnight train

Goin' anywhere

Kurt came out next to a laugh from Will and Will looked up briefly at the ceiling, knowing Finn was smiling down on his wife, brother, sister, and friends.

Kurt:

Just a city boy

Born and raised in South Detroit

He took the midnight train

Goin' anywhere

Mercedes appeared behind Kurt and Rachel, blowing a kiss to Will. Tina appeared next, putting her hands on her heart, Will giving them a wave. Artie rolled in next to Rachel.

Artie:

A singer in a smoky room

A smell of wine and cheap perfume

Artie with Rachel:

For a smile they can share the night

It goes on and on and on and on

One by one, the rest of the original New Directions came out to bid goodbye. Mike did a dance and saluted Will, who saluted back. Josh and Noelle walked across the stage and Noelle blew a kiss to Will while Josh bowed. Puck and Quinn, along with Beth, who waved to Will, came across next. Puck did a spin and his signature "Saw" move, while Quinn blew a kiss as well. Will again returned the kiss. Santana stood front and center, smacking her ass while Brittney did a pirouette.

Artie and Rachel:

Strangers, waiting

Up and down the boulevard

Their shadows

Searching in the night

Streetlight, people

Livin' just to find emotion

Hiding somewhere in the night

The rest of the New Directions came out from behind the curtain near the entrance in order from which they joined the group. Sam, Blaine, Harmony, Heather, Melissa, Jake, Marley, Ryder, Kitty, and Unique all entered the auditorium and motioned for Will to join him on stage. He threw his hands up in agreement and hurried down to join them on stage.

New Directions: Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da Whoaaaa

Will:

Workin' hard to get my fill

Everybody wants a thrill

Will with Josh:

Payin' anything to roll the dice

Just one more time

Noelle:

Some will win

Noelle with Josh:

Some will lose

Some were born to sing the blues

And now the movie never ends

It goes on and on and on and on

Will, Mike, Jake, Kitty, and Brittney did a dance together and then Jake, Ryder, and Mike lifted Will up onto their shoulders.

Rachel with Josh (Artie):

Strangers, waiting

Up and down the boulevard

Their shadows

Searching in the night (In the night!)

Streetlight, people (People!)

Livin' just to find emotion

Hiding (Hidin') somewhere in the night

Rachel with Josh and New Directions (Artie):

Don't stop believin' (Oh-woah!)

Hold on to that feelin'

(Streetlight, yeah) Streetlight, people, oh, (Yeah, yeah!) woah, ohh

Don't stop (Don't stop believin') believin'

Hold on to that (Hold on!) feelin'

Streetlight, people, oh, woah, ohh

Don't stop!

The song came to an end as everyone gathered around Will and the group cheered and clapped as they pulled Will into a hug.
